As for re-working the board, here's my humble suggestion:

    News, Events & Announcements
    • Announcements
    • Discussion
    Development
    • Developer Corner
    • Developer Digest
    • Community Digest
    • Suggestions & Ideas
    • Training Room
    • Copy Tool
    Player Help
    • Player Questions
    • Player Guides
    • Gameplay & Technical Issues (mac user forum either merged into this or as a child forum)
    • In-Game Systems (below sections would be child forums)
    1. Badges & Gladiators
    2. Base Construction
    3. Inventions & Auction House
    4. Mission Architect
    5. Player vs Player
Archetypes & Powers - Leave as-is if possible

    For Fun
    • CoH: Freedom General Discussion (merged w/ EU & Oceanic if possible)
    • Player Events or Calendar
    • Role-Playing
    • Comic & Hero/Villain Culture
    • Multimedia & Fan Creations
    • Forum Games
Servers - Leave as-is; SG/VG recruitment done within server subforums

NOTE: I'm not happy with the placement of the For Fun section in this proposed layout. It's sandwiched between two substantially larger sections, which really diminishes it. I'd like for it to be somewhere above Archetypes & Powers, but can't decide on an appropriate spot.
^ This is a good set up. I'd say that For Fun, which I also think should be re-named to 'General' myself ('For Fun' doesn't exactly sound like it's ever taken seriously, you know?) is in an alright place. Maybe move it over 'Player Help' but I honestly think it's ok as is.

I don't particularly view it as pigeonholing, simply as...well...simplifying. There's a rather large amount of forums to sift through here on our boards, and to a new, or even veteran player who hasn't spent time on the forums, it's a bit confusing.

Forums should be easy to understand at a glance.
When I first came to the new forums (i.e. these ones from the old EU boards) the AT section has always been the simplest part. You look for your desired AT, you use that section.

If anything, mashing them all together will create MORE mess and more confusion.
This kinda seems like inverse logic Zwill.

And that Tactics includes both perception bonuses and confuse protection.

And that the developers have never, ever indicated, in word or in deed, that there is any toy that they will not take back from you if they think it would make for an interesting challenge.

And that the intrinsically binary nature of such effects as mez, stealth, perception, and many others is indeed a design issue with City of Heroes, and this has also been true from the start.

But mostly, that inspirations are cheap and plentiful and, unlike IOs, they are considered fair game for balancing standard content.

(If I were to make a complaint about the Resistance pulsing stealth and confuse auras, it wouldn't be about how impossibly difficult they are, but how uninteresting a problem they present. When the problem is stealth, the solution is colored yellow, and when the problem is mez, the solution is colored pastel purple. Be surprised by it once, then purchase the right consumables for a trivial fee and return to play as normal. But that problem is at a deeper level, and is not a faction design issue.)
    Before the onslaught of snark (and that's MY card, damn your eyes! ¬¬ ) there are a few things;

    1) This WAS on +0 x1

    2) Illusionists phasing is not the same in any way as mobs attacking from stealth and STAYING totally stealthed. No other mob in game does that.

    3) Tactics is not, nor should be, a necessary part of every build. My Tanker, for one, has Tough, Wave and the Energy Mastery pool. He literally does not have room for Tactics.

    4) It's not an interesting challenge. It's a case of 'Get these inspirations in bulk or face an incredibly frustrating mission. Because we say so.' That is NOT good design, whatever way you wrap it up, nor is balance by frustration or inconvenience.

Yes, I could have gone and stocked up on only BFs and yellows. But then they would run out, and it would still be just as frustrating.
"Go and get insps!" is not a valid crutch for poor mob design.
  4. Not like I could have got there anyway...

Come to Europe for once, willya?

  6. Personally, I've found I *always* have to click on the band on the shield to get in or out of the Hollows. Once upon a time it indeed used to be you could simply click on any part of them. Not for a long time it hasn't been, though. And it's another of the minor bugs that has gone for years, ever annoying and never fixed.

It's basically the same as ours, except treating your character like they will always way ab few tons and shatter the pavement everytime you land.

In fact, the only one I really liked there was the teleport. Ours is...pretty pants, actually.
  8. I just want Street Justice to hurry up and come out already. I won't go off on one about my opinion on marketing and whoever is deciding it is 'right' to delay, but rest assured I'm not amused with it.

Dearg god, agreed! I find it criminal that this is still here. I mean, SUPPOSEDLY it matters we have fun and have characterful characters but bloody hell if it isn't hard at times....
  10. Ok, so a character without any +Perception and any Confuse protection (which I was amazed to find an Invul Tanker DOESN'T have) is basically going to get taken to town by these guys, even on +0 x1 simply because they cannot see them long enough to do reliable damage!

Sure, I didn't because an Invul tank at level 47 is still redonkulously tough, but this is taking the cake! This is WORSE than KoA and Malta levels of annoying. I mean, really? EVERY minion having cloaking field and targetting drone? That's not even cloaking field, because I DAMN well know my Deviced Blaster can't get that level of stealth even with Smoke Grenade! These guys were shooting at me and not coming out of stealth. I could see the blasts, and the damage, but not them. Even the ever annoying Night Widows can't do that, even with smoke grenade; they hit you, and you can see them again.

I call serious shenanigans if this is, for some brain dead and derptarded reason, supposed to be working as intended.

Y'Star, was worried when I saw that. Was borked, downloaded and it worked fine second time around.

    Mids for ever!
  12. All Resistance members, Minion and upwards, all have the Mind-washed Confusion effect from the BAF iTrial.

As if that wasn't bugged enough, where the hell do these guys get off having stealth that they can attack you from without revealing themselves? NO other mob in the game does that! That's not a challenge, that's 'have a power with +Perc or tons of yellows or get ready for an exercise in frustration'.

Just gives me another reason to hate iTrials; they break bloody normal content too!

Exclamation points...I'll never get used to you yanks calling them that always been exclamation marks for me over here in Blighty.
  14. NPC Costumes also need to be immune to power suppresion from [Walk]. Ideally, I could just turn the power on and it never turn off, even when I die or log...but that would possibly be too much to ask for my Rikti Psi-Scout

    Agreed.

Hell, what happened to whoever wrote D-Mac and Leonard? They pitched that about as close to perfect as we're gonna get; you could make that work for ANY type of villain. Even my Minotaur character who's primary use for technology would be as a big, heavy object to use as an auxiliary maiming tool, but he began to have aspirations when presented with the situation.
He was a bit mean to D-mac about Hive Fives, though

I hate that voice. I detest it more than I have words to express. It's generic and grating and so patronisingly....EUAGH!

It's like how a verbal punch from the idiot ball would sound.
  22. I really think it's time that it was removed from the Science Pack and made a general point of the Tailor. Given it's functionality it seems 'cheap' to lock it away like that. Maybe once upon a time, but now? Not so much.
  23. I really like some of the costumes. Nice ones there, Bubble.

However; Stop sappin' mah War! D= It's hard enough with AE broken as it is!!

  24. Sam: It's still Citadel, no matter how many times you wish it wasn't

Also, the part you quoted is simply incorrect. You don't steal Blue Spectrums powers, you steal his power, i.e. energy, to make you tougher while you bust out of Galaxy. Think of it as sappin' his powah to get a tier 3 red insp, etc. But in more characterful terms

Tripe. Last time I checked, NOTHING stated starting villains had to all suffer being THAT sodding dense, and happy to go along with some random shmuck who tells them to act like they are utterly brain dead.
