Quote:Maybe they'll be added when/if they get costumes in the store working right. The costumes you're talking about were available during the various Halloween events. What I'm talking about are the special ones that were only available via the codes they've passed out during conventions or other meet-n-greets. Those codes have never been available any other way.

Quote:Yes, because that has **** alll to do with money and all to do with "you have to be THIS cool to have shinies, because we SAY SO, bwahahahaha!"So you want to screw the rules as you have money?
Why not make the incarnate Armor at lvl 1,
The 'incarnate' armour is the most stupid, bloody pointless and obnoxious locked piece EVER. Period.
None of your other examples are valid. Go figure. -
Does anyone else remember the Player Versus Player comic that came with CoH Deluxe edition? And how Francis was emailing a suggestion for a 'Dirty Fighting' set, with the tier 9 power being 'Kick 'em in the Jimmies'?
Guess he got his wish
Now...C'MERE! *sounds of carnage* -
Quote:If it moves, smash it.Some people do speed runs - I tend to do "For The Money" runs - especially ITF.
"For The Money" runs are where you kill everything.
E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.
I agree, I think it's essential for any Team Leader to announce what type of run it is going to be - and if they fail to do so and you are on that team - just ask.
If it doesn't move, smash it anyway.
If you can't smash it, see steps 1 and 2.
CHARGE! -
Quote:Well, someone took the words right out of my mouthBehind this 100%. The OP is extremely presumptuous that he or she represents what "the majority of us" want. I do not "speed run" task forces, and I avoid stealthing to the end as much as possible. If the OP were such an experienced veteran, he or she would recognize the difference between playing a mission "normally," that is, a non-speed run making your way systematically to the end without going out of your way to defeat everything but not really avoiding stuff either, and defeating literally every single enemy in the mission. There is a huge difference between the two.
Did you ever consider that maybe the new people just wanted to enjoy the story in the missions, and brought up XP because they were trying to be nice and appeal to something you probably are interested in (XP) instead of something you obviously weren't (enjoying the story)?
At any rate, I understand why they got upset. It sounds like you completely ignored, or at least dismissed without much consideration, the wants of some members of your group. You also seem to be under the mistaken impression that your preferred way to complete a task force is some sort of "default" way, that there's no need for you to explain your intentions or validate that it is the way the group as a whole wants to go, and you're wrong.
So to our new players, as a veteran myself (been subscribed and playing since just after launch in 2004), I can assure you that the OP is totally out of line in telling you how you're expected to play and/or behave during a task force. Please do not be afraid or concerned about expressing how you feel to your team leader or feel guilty about wanting to take your time and experience the game for fun, not just view everything as a means of getting from point A to point B. Fortunately, most leaders are pretty nice folks; they're flexible and don't care one way or the other. If your leader simply ignores your wishes, as Emberly of the too-cute avatar suggests, PLEASE form your own team. We need more people like you to balance out the jaded attitudes like the OP's.
Seriously, just look at the avatar.
Would she steer you wrong?
To add to the personal opinion, I find speed runs annoying and, in fact, boring. If I'm on a TF/SF, that means I'm after either 1) exp or 2) shard drops. So ghosting (unless it is an honestly boring section...which I tend to miss due to not running those TFs that have them) is pretty pointless. -
Quote:That's utter codswallop. That's so untrue I'd almost swear the smiley annoyance herself wrote it.A cursory inspection of the high traffic RP threads here leads me to think it's all mostly about the heroes. There is nothing wrong with that of course. Heroes are always more sympathetic, and well, good must always triumph over evil otherwise things just wind up being terribly bleak and depressing! To paraphrase Rick Moranis, good might be dumb but at least it's persistent.
Heroes have as much likelihood to be stuck up, egotistical and arrogant pedantics who think they can do it all, know it all and are goodness and flowers incarnate. And no, good must NOT always triumph because, get this, good is not infallible. Sometimes people die. Sometimes the guy doesn't get the girl. Villainy can and WILL win and there is jack all that will stop that, no matter who says what.
There have been villains in threads before. I remember a plot that Castus Brawler ran involving his main villain and her island retreat. Many of the Heroes in that thread kept screwing things up, getting into mass fights, and the finale was his character Tomb nearly dying thanks to a vortex tearing her face off, before the Nictus scientist Nightwalker captured her essence and teleported away. A good (pun not intended) example of evil leaving good standing dumbfounded at the post.
So, yeah. Maybe it's an American thing, this fascination with the 'bad guys' always being evil monsters and always having to lose. Shades of grey exist. And sometimes the monster win.

Quote:The 2 points in AS for StJ is pretty redundant anyway. Outside of the typical BU->AS from Hide, using AS mid-combat is nearly never viable, certainly not solo. If CR->AS as a finisher was truly a problem, then surely they could reduce the base-line AS damage a little to compensate? I personally don't see a problem with it being CR-AS anyway, but then again I'm no number cruncher, and don't know what the follow through of that would be.Your suggestion is incomplete. If Stalkers got Combat Readiness, which sets your combo level to 3, then the 2 combo points granted by AS would be redundant in a CR->AS chain.
That might not be a problem necessarily, since you could just skip taking AS altogether and follow CR with Crushing Uppercut. I don't know if you'll have an easy time convincing the devs to make AS completely redundant in the set in this way, despite the fact that some would love such a change.
I suppose you could try to argue that it would set SJ apart from other Stalker sets to not be reliant on AS for a big hit from hide. Like I said though, I don't see that going over well.
One alternative would be to make AS a finisher instead of a combo builder, but that would mean CR->AS would (presumably) do more damage than a standard BU->AS from other sets, and I doubt that'd go over either.
Offhand I don't see an easy solution really. I would love to see Placate generate one combo point though.
Quote:I think EVERY power in Street Justice for every AT should increase combo level, except finishers of course. Build Up, Taunt, Confront, and Placate should all increase combo level by 1. There's a sort of precedent for this: Claws powers get a 20% discount on end and recharge from what the damage formula would have them at, including Claws' Build Up.
Also, the Rib Cracker animation should be an alternate animation for Shin Breaker for Stalkers. -
Quote:They were in the store, until they were removed for 'datamining' or purposes similar. I.E. something wasn't working with them and they needed to fix it. Afaik.I'll /sign as long as this general suggestion throws in the being able to purchase the special costume temp power codes that were handed out over the years during various conventions. It's one thing to have content gated behind in-game levels or task forces but it's a whole other thing to have content gated by whether or not you were able to travel cross-country (or around the world) to get to those highly limited one-time venues.

Quote:Simple (note that I did not say easy) fix: Get rid of "kill skuls"-style missions. They suck anyway. Want to fight street crime? Go where it's actually likely to be happening. Not on street corners in the financial district in broad daylight, hello Outcasts.Quote:Or in the midst of the oldest, poshest district of the whole city (lookin' at you, Founders Falls).
Come night time, more mobs would surface and loiter more on the streets, such as the Hellions sat on bus stops.
But, hey, metagame wins all, it seems... -
Quote:What do you mean 'maybe'?Well, I'll stick with my Spinning Strike that does 130 damage and you can keep using Whirling Axe (62 damage) or Dragon's Tail (81 damage) or Burst (86 damage) which do "more damage" if you want. I'm not theory-crafting either, because I've been playing StJ and I have no problems hitting people. Maybe it's a PEBCAK issue.

Quote:Actually, I think the Rogue Isles is a very, VERY bad case of bad writing. According to the Dev's own canon, The Etoile Isles are a UN recognised country where there ARE laws and regulations. Sure, it's corrupt as all hell, but think of it as a country where there is simply a bribe money tax. For people who can pay Arachnos' 'insurance' policy, it's probably a decent deal. And mass murders and big crimes are meant to be stamped on hard by, y'know, the freaking ARMY Recluse has hanging around.Well, sure, but real-life boat refugees generally didn't leave through their brutal dictatorships' official ports of exit, either.
But we never see that side. Why? Because of metagame. People would whine if there was no one to beat up in the Rogue Isles. People would whine about not being able to level if Paragon was portrayed realistically. There is no way in hell, even in canon, that there can be Hellions on every corner. Lurking in the back-alleys and after dark, yes. But can you imagine the stink kicked up if it was done the way it should be? -
Quote:Given Placate's very specific role (i.e. you can't use it effectively unless there's only one mob left OR someone else to draw aggro) I think that's pretty fair.I like all of those.
Here's an alternate: Replace Heavy Blow with Rib Cracker. (from a thread in the Stalker forum, not my original idea)
*edit* Yes, Placate should give *at least* one combo point. Is there any power in the game that's more of a 'set up' maneuver than Placate? If Combat Readiness isn't coming back then Placate should add the full three combo points, in my opinion. -
Quote:That...mission....Stupid...NPCs!!Two words: General Aarons
$Diety I hate that guy. Trying to rescue him with a melee character is a nightmare.
Melee: Okay General, you are free lets go!
General: No. We have to clear out the base of Nemesis personnel.
Melee: I'll escort you out of here and come back and clear the build.
General: No, I am a General With A Gun! I will follow you around at close quarters.
Melee: But General, those robots blow up when I punch them. The explosions will kill you.
General: I am a General With A Gun! I will follow you around at close quarters.
Melee: *facepalm*

Quote:And the hip plates belt they have as well. Seriously, a friend was in RWZ revamp Beta (I11? I forget) and, due to a bug, those pieces ALL got released for PC use. And they ALL fitted fine! On every model. VG backpack, VG belt with hip armour, the works.
P.S. I agree with Techbot regarding the Vanguard back piece...
And now, even though backpack tech is officially possible, we STILL don't have it? Come the smeg ON already! -
Quote:What, doesn't take much other than having to get to 35, get into Cimerora and then finish an ITF?I rather they stay the same..They seriously don't take much to unlock once at the right level or done the requirements..i.e ITF ... before then you can just make a earlier version of yourself like i have done..it's not like you don't have the slots for them anymore..
Exception would possibly be the event items..but then if that was the case...i want the event activities to change and be different to compensate the fact we can get them at anytime via the market ... i still don't believe though we should have everything available on the market cos it just lessens the stuff we get during the game time.
Sorry, but for everyone harping on about 'Oh, levelling is so fast' and 'Oh 1-50 in a few hours is easy, y u no play better?' there are some of us who DON'T level fast, either due to not missioning 24/7, real life interfering or many other reasons.
Also, thematically, it makes no damn sense. Do you HAVE to go back in time to specifically loot a set of armour from these particular Romans? Why not, I dunno, have some made in the here and now? It's not like we have laser guns and energy swords and alien techn-ohwait...
And hey, everyone wins! You don't want to pay for it, so don't. Those who want it without having to crawl to 35 on every damn character they want it on, can pay and have it now. Simples. -
There needs to be another option;
[Headbutt Hardcase]
In fact, I'd love that for a few of the contacts/talkiessome of the red side contacts really need putting in their places.
-
That seems so aptly fitting it's scary
-
Hmn, could work. I'm no number cruncher, and I have no idea what iterations stuff went through during Beta. Would be interesting to know, though...

Having played Street Justice on both Scrappers and Stalkers, I can safely say (in my opinion, of course) that the version Stalkers get is inferior to the 'standard' version.
This isn't to do with some patently false gripe like 'Stalkers are rubbish'. I know they are not.
However, there are elements of the Stalker sets that get in the way with Street Justice.
Namely:
-Lack of one of the low level builder attacks make getting level 3 combos hard
-Assassin's Strike +2 builder pointless when the attack is nigh impossible to use outside of Hide
-Replacing Combat Readiness with Build Up
So, the main point of Street Justice is the Combo points system? Ergo, these are the suggested changes;
1) Replace Build up with Combat Readiness to restore that part of the set to Stalkers
2) Increase the time until combo's 'time out' to make up for the lack of Rib Cracker
I feel those two changes would go a long way to making Stalkers Street Justice feel on par with all the other variants. -
I find Spinning Strike much, much easier to use than a PbAoE. And more fun to use AND it usually does more damage (in my experience)
So, no, Spinning Strike is just fine (in my opinion, YMMV) -
Quote:Or, for balance sakes, simply make AS ignore the combo builder side of things.Make BU like Combat Readiness in that it grants you 3 builder points. Then turn AS into a finisher! No build points, normal AS damage...build up the combo points, it becomes a mean and meaner Assassin Strike.
That's how they should do it
Personally, I'm still not sold that ALL Stalker sets should have or indeed NEED an AS attack...but there's too much precedent to change that now, sadly.
I just find a long animation attack that is ONLY ever any use when Hidden to be...not as good as it could be. *shrug* -
Quote:^ this, agreed and /signed from me. This should have been done already.I agree. All the character-specific in-game costume and weapon unlocks should become account-wide store-bought costume pieces. This includes Witch's hat, Roman set, Rularuu weapons, Astral/Empyrean pieces, etc...
Before any player or Dev can object, let it be know the precedent has been set: The Vanguard set is in the Store. The level 20 capes and level 30 auras are in the Store. These were in-game locked by level and content, but are now purchasable account-wide. Put 'em all in there, please.
Also, where the smeg is the VG backpack? -
Yeah, I'm sad to see that missing.
I'd still love an alternate animation for Heavy Blow to be a crashing headbutt, too
