  1. Agreed and /signed a thousand times.

Null is never introduced. There is no mention to him anywhere in game. In effect, you can only go see him if you KNOW he is there, and you only know that if you 1) read the forums and know or, 2), if you happen to bump into him on the truck in PD.

If it was a Global application then maybe it wouldn't be so bad. But nope, you have to go talk to him on EVERY. DAMN. CHARACTER.
    Not cool.

What ID card? If it doesn't fit with characters, I just ignore it. My Nictus, Nightwalker, has no ID cards whatsoever. He doesn't associate with Arachnos unless it's to steal technology and science from them.

But yeah, it's just a symbol. It's not that invasive in-game. In fact, I don't even think it shows up in-game barely at all.
  4. First point: Yeah, the thirty to forty slog is still just that; a slog. Mostly due to lack of any decent content there. Even at forty onwards, blue side at least, there's still not much going.

What's that? Portal Corp? Oh, yes, send me off to every bloody giant outdoor map with a hundred and one glowies and a defeat all! No, I think not...

But, honestly? I still find I have a lot of characters sat around the twenties mark and up to about 32. Although I mostly try and skip to 22 as fast as possible.

Why? Because I have altitis and I have run low level stuff over and over and OVER again. The new stuffs good (except you, Graves. Go take a long running jump...) but it ends about level 10. Meaning you still have twelve levels to fill until you (finally) get SOs and start feeling super instead of average and handicapped.

So, no, I don't harken back to the 'good old days'. Because, to me, debt SUCKED and destroyed my fun. Good riddance to it. I, for one, don't play this game to have to grind my way out of exp debt and frustration (which, when running a Blaster, fighting to get OUT of debt often got you MORE debt!)

Second point; No. Unlocking EATs at 50 was bloody awful. 'Epic' didn't, doesn't and never will mean 'More Powerful'. If it was a more powerful or something AT then yes, sure. It should be something you might need to, dare I say this in game context, work at.
Kheldians especially are by no means more powerful than a normal AT. In fact they are often held as being WEAKER than regular ATs (I know its not true, but it's a conception. I also know that they are damn complex to get the hang of) and VEATs, while utterly awesome in a team of eight, are no solo tankmages.

In a game where altitis is the norm and indeed on record as being Dev encouraged, gating stuff at 50 doesn't sit well. Incarnates aside, I guess.
And even then they stole our bloody costumes and emotes ¬¬
  5. Agreed, /signed, WHATEVER it takes to get the bloody thing up and working again.

I'd be testing Media Blitz but, oh look! Beta got wiped again! And OH LOOK! I have no level 50s that are actually trial ready (my one and only char that is got wiped too) and the Copy is down! Huzzah!

And I don't care what changes they made; I am NOT running trials witha fresh new 50. I REMEMBER how bloody awful the non-slotted runs were on Alpha. I have no desire to repeat that just to test stuff.
  6. ...grunting? Wha?

Either you have overly sensitive ears or I am that deaf. Because I've never heard those sounds, on PCs or NPCs O_o

... And all that about role-playing just by logging in? Not quite. I'm sure the role-players over on Union or Virtue would have a few things to say about your definition.
    They would.

I'm also calling shenanigans on 'It's an MMO!, zomfg you HAVE to team!'

If that were true, it should have been true seven years ago. This game has never been impossible solo, even when Blind Jack was at the helm. You go trying to change that seven years on, yeah, you BET people are going to get annoyed.
  8. I'd rather they made standard SG bases better AND a viable option for soloists rather than the current grind if you want anything in them.

Also, given the HUGE gap between any base love whatsoever, I object on principle to having to pay cash for anything to do with them...
  9. I'd like to see them being bigger. Maybe not as big as they were (although that sounded epic) but something that makes peeps go 'Holy pancake!'

    2) Maybe they should allow you to have multiple sets for fighting different things. We could make one build for def, one for HP/regen, and one for a big buff to ACC

All wishful thinking I guess, the Devs would never make those possible

[Being sarcastice in case the reader didn't notice]
Yes, because a set that is totally gimped when it's not using Inspirations every mob is totally balanced and fair. Hmm, I can see where I'm so blindly wrong here-

    Owait.

Let's have a detailed break down, shall we?

    4) can't back down: kb/kd protection S/L/E/N res minor ToHit debuff
    5) Controlled rage: AoE taunt*+special (as health decreases HP/regen/dam is buffed if killed rage is released in a PBAoE fit of rage)
    6) short temper: minor self heal, build 50%rage bar (regen/dam)
    7) beating heart: F/I res minor ToHit debuff
    8) rage stomp: built up rage can be used in PBAoE (all rage is used up and any regen built up is lost
    9) uncontrollable rage: reduces health to 100 over BASE health (full rage, full hp/dam/regen bonus) all res caped def 45%
Ok, that's 5 stacked ToHit debuffs. Now, the tactic of 'balance by annoyance' died out a long, long time ago. We're talking back when Mez shields rooted the player immobile and Unyielding actually gave -defence. Those, in case you hadn't noticed, got changed ages ago. Same way as Group Fly had it's ridiculous -ToHit penalty removed.

Fact: Players hate needless penalties. This set basically penalises you from step 1.

Now, Rage. Rage is already a power in Super Strength. And Fury, which is very mechanically similar to this, is already Unique to Brutes. You also have a Taunt power, not an aura, in a defence set. And a build up style move, and an attack. Now, yes, Shield does set precedent for attacks in Defence sets. So does Fire and Dark and everything with a damage aura. But this seems like a weird hybrid of attack and defence that simply doesn't fill all the gaps.

And then we get Uncontrollable Rage, which is about as far from a Tier 9 as you can get. It's like an 'I Lose' Button.

    Quote:
It's first notable weakness is the ToHit debuff, also getting hit is required to do effective damage. The set also has no res to -end -regen -tohit -dam. If he was fighting a mission of dark (CoT) he would be about as useful and a SO stone tank in granite form.
Except that even an SO Granite tank is still one of the most durable things in the game. AND it has debuff res out the whazoo. So, no, they are in fact nothing alike.

    Quote:
That being said, S/L res would be capped with enhancements, and all others would be around 60-80% res. It's only reakness is secondaries and the tohit debuff
Which means it hit's nothing and get's debuffed into the ground. Which means you pretty much are a sitting duck for a solid pounding. Does that sound fun? Hmn, no. Not really. That makes any End-Drain mob as terrifying as a Malta Sapper. On an armour set. Not a good mix.

    Quote:
The HP/rage scale is formed like this [( base hp )(added hp)] Meaning, if your base HP is 2000 and your total HP is 3000 ... your uncontrolable rage HP would cap at 1100 HP for the duration. also, the higher the HP the more health you will have left at full rage.

    What do you think?
I think this set doesn't pass muster. Not by a long shot. It's only 'unique' feature seems to be being a Hulk rip off and not fitting in the CoH mechanics very well. At all.
  11. Hmn. Wow. This week is worthy of a golf clap. That price is also ridiculous. Come on, guys, stop trying to rob us please? We're not stupid. Thanks.

Ugh, this makes me even more grumpy that Gears 3's DLC got delayed -_-

It might need some tweaking ... I'm open to options
This means death. Crushing, painful, agonising and un-fun death. Fighting Mu, Clockwork or Carnies? Bye bye Endurance. Fighting CoT? Bye bye To-Hit.

I...honestly don't see anything here that Invul or Willpower couldn't do already and do *better*.
  13. Blasters do not like you

In all seriousness, why not Blasters? Given nearly every other blast set is shared between those three Archtypes?

It's interesting, I have to say. But I will still and always will call Shenanigens on 'Khelds shouldn't have power customisation'. Why the hell not? What explicitly states, ANYWHERE, that all Kheld/Nictus energy is the same colour? It's ENERGY, it can be pretty much any damn colour ever.

    Stuck Mobs

God yes. Stuck mobs are a pain in the rear, ESPECIALLY when they can still, somehow, attack you. And yet I keep getting 'Target Blocked' 'Target Blocked' 'Target-' GAH!

/Signed. Until every map has all its geometry totally fixed, there needs to be something to help with this.

Another then stubbed their toe upon the table, and there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.

And he that stubbed his toe, in his pained hopping upon one foot, then did find the other's keys when he jumped upon them, and yet more wailing was had.

Yea, the host then did cry out, "Someone turn on the bloody light!"

Hearing their cries, the Light was turned on. And it was good, though they were blinded by the brightness. And then did their eyes grow used to the light, and they agreed it was good. And in council with each other shortly thereafter, they agreed, and did proclaim that Jim should really put his pants on.

    Bravo!

    Dark Astoria

I'd rather they kept DAs unique atmosphere and simply added some god damned content and contacts to it.
Apparently that might be too much to expect, though...
  18. Samantha 'Sam' Christophe, aka 'The Cockroach', showed up to Founders last night. She found it was too poor light to really scribble much, so she contented herself with chatting with Cammie, Richard and Shanna, and making a few mental notes. The others found she was a sort of attack journalist.

And then there was her and Cammie. And Zombies attacked. Sam got a little freaked out as they increased in height and bulk, and realised she'll probably need more than flak/stab-proof bodyarmour if she's going to stay in Paragon. Fortunately Constance was on hand to hand out chocolate, and also a number for her to ring if she gets around to doing an article on Praetorians anytime soon.

Hellions, Skuls -- Focus fire on the bosses or they will wreck you. Minions and Lts are ignorable, but if you're solo and defense based take out the ones with def-reducing attacks.
Clockwork -- Manage the teslas first of all; either get their aggro on the tank or kill them quick. Save AoEs for after bosses' deaths to sweep away gears. Teammates with recovery boosting powers are valuable here.
Circle of Thorns -- For most levels, the Lts are the dangerous ones. Air and earth mages can screw up a team's squishies, while the Lt ghosts do massive damage and accuracy drains. Focus fire on those Lts. An exception is the Ruin Mage, especially at low level. Wait until he drops an earthquake then pull him to a spot away from it and kill him.
The Council -- Focus fire on bosses. Secondary targets are the riflemen, who have massive slows and def-reducing attacks.
Freakshow -- Anything with 'shock' in its name has sleep and/or stuns; focus fire on them. Squishies should not fight bosses in close range. If possible fight from the air, as Freakshow have few ranged attacks although some of them fly.
Sky Raiders -- First target are the engineers, who create shield drones. Bosses can be extremely dangerous and durable, and most of them explode on death. Be ready to heal meleers right after a boss goes down, and squishies should fight at range.
Nemesis -- Lts use vengeance on death, so kill minions and bosses first and avoid using AoE damage. Warhulks and jaegers will explode on death.
Devouring Earth -- Park the bosses near a tank and ignore them. Focus on the Lts, who spawn eminators, and the fungoids who toss sleeps.

This is not secret knowledge. None of you reading this are idiots -- you know all of the above tactics already. But I don't see players doing any of that. What I see is everyone fighting the 'new' way:

Hellions, Skuls -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Clockwork -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Circle of Thorns -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
The Council -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Freakshow -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Sky Raiders -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Nemesis -- Pop a purple. Zerg.
Devouring Earth -- Pop a purple. Zerg.

Maybe it's because I've lost my SG and I mostly team with PUGs these days. Maybe I'm just playing with idiots. But there sure seems to be a lot more idiots than there used to be, and the game is encouraging them to act that way.
    And you know what?

That has ALWAYS been true. And it's STILL true.
NOTHING has changed in that respect.

Seriously, get new glasses. These ones are Nostalgia coloured. Nemesis are STILL evil cheating gits. As are CoT Ghosts. And all the problem mobs are still there. And players are still as good or as stupid as they've always been.
  20. I'm 99.9% certain of it. It was in response to one of the frequent AT/Origin changing threads...no, I think it was in a livestream, actually, in response to a similar question. It was said that things like origin, AT and powerset choices are very deeply coded into the game, or something like that. And that, while things like respecs are possible and maybe even powerset swaps with a lot of work, other changes would require massive amounts of re-writing.

(The above may be wrong, I can't remember exactly where it was said, and I don't feel like trawling through massive backlog to find out XD )

Either way, it's simply not worth the effort. Also, it would cause havoc when it came to buying and slotting Enhancements.
Not to mention concepts that are neither of the two suggested splits per origin.
  21. Not to mention the Devs being on record for saying how Origins, along with powersets, are coded so deep into the game and such that, short of a CoH2, this simply isn't happening.

That, and I honestly don't see the need, so /unsigned here
  22. Hmn, guess no one noticed anything? No?

Well, if you roleplay a god, then your roleplaying is weaker that the "bad" writing. How would you react to someone who wants an option to cancel incoming damage, because their character is immortal/invulnerable or to remove all mentions of colour because their character is colour-blind?
Given the Devs now have the option to use multiple choice dialogue, to then have it not used and the only option given being 'Caught the Idiot Ball' is somewhat jarring and annoying.

    For example, had Alpha been a low level all over again;
    1) He's a robot, so no DNA to be had
    2) His 'brain' is massively advanced computer core that doesn't react to psionics
    3) He's a wiseass

In general, having a choice of 'Effected', 'Playing along' and 'Wiseass' dialogue would have been not only possible but far better.
Alpha's reply would have been "These are not the droids you are looking for" /handwave
  24. Is it a bird?
    Is it a plane?

    Is it...a new skybox?

I was thinking the Banner Events 'night time' actually looked better than the real night look when in Kings Row just now.

Until it changed back. And I noticed they had finally turned shadows back on at night.
    And I looked up.

I don't remember Paragon's night sky ever looking good. But this one DOES. It looks as good as the Praetorian sky.
Did someone swap the sky box over to Paragon as well? If so; DAMN GOOD SHOW, CHAP! /applause
