Quote:Not unless you're reading too much into it.Anyway, it would actually be nice to have more female feedback, because a different kind of male bias permeates this thread, and it's as out of tune with reality as any.
Hell, I wouldn't have a partner if I didn't dig the ladies
But certain costumes just don't fit all characters. I have at least two who would have made use of the Showgirl outfit pieces.
I also had a concept for a DP/Poison Corruptor who dressed like a Gunslinger that I had hoped the 'Gunslinger' set would have had parts for. Chaps, belt, hoslters, maybe a new hat.
But nada.
Just as some female characters prefer spandex, tights or revealing clothes, some prefer armour, tough outfits and full cover. HOWEVER, only one of them is getting any parts as of late. -
Meh. I mostly find it quite funny, t'be honest. If I'd been rude or nasty then I would have understood. But hey-oh.
-
What can I say, I find marketings purposefully vague blurb that omits the fact that all the 'Gunslinger' stuff is actually male only to be objectionable. I thought it was polite to let people know without spamming rude things on the FB. But hey-oh, it's gone now. C'est la vie.

Quote:True. And, if you look at the OP and suchnot I and others are not saying 'OMG it's evil REMOVE IT!!!!1'Choices are GOOD. But for the sake of balance, bear in mind, most of the female players I know or have met in-game over the past two years (I mean provably female, owing to social networking, Vent or phone chats) have ALL preferred more skin, not less. Did they complain about male bias whenever new sets were released? Yes, of course. Yet, did they proceed to dress their characters like the sexified super heroines they enjoy playing? Yes.
While that may sound like a double standard, there is a difference between women hating being objectified and enjoying looking sexeh.
What IS the issue is "Ok, so, wheres the female Gunslinger outfit? Hat? Boots and jacket? Oh...we don't get one....right..." -
Since RP is pretty much the single biggest part of the game for me, I figured I might as well post it here to save time/space.
I hit the 'Cancel Sub' button earlier, meaning that, come six months time, I'll be a F2P player and no longer VIP. But it's likely sooner then that, if not already, that I'm moseying off.
It's been a good run. I've gone from being a godawful, godmoding little rotbag to...well...the Union RP renowed avatar of cybernetic rage, bile and rant-filled hatred...but at least I can RP better now!
And I think I'm spent. I've not logged in for ages. Certain choices by Paragon are finally getting to me, my creativity is being used up in other areas but primarily at Uni.
So, I think everyone I've RP'd with and especially those on Union deserve a big thank you from me, and best wishes to you all in future.
You might need it...I may return, someday...bringing rock and roll and hellfire in my wake -
Yup, it's official. Second post just got deleted off the Facebook post. Censorship is alive and kicking in Paragon! Woo!
Nice job guys! Y'know what, I think I'm done. My last 6 month sub hit this month, so, come next year? Well, I'll see when it gets to it. But I think you can kiss any more money from me goodbye. I think I'm through. -

Wow, I posted on the CoH Facebook post about the fact that 'Gunslinger' kit is only available on male/huge, and that women get the saloon girl kit. Included a link to this thread, nothing rude or offensive just a statement of facts.
A few minutes later the post is gone.

Lying is BAD, marketing team! I shouldn't be doing your job for you and telling potential paying customers what they are actually buying and not getting! -
Quote:Well, thank god then that not every guy is the kind of shallow reject of society that you just described then. I'm a guy, and I'd rather see diversity and choice. No, I'm not going all OTT 'Someone think of the children!' or demanding 'womens rights' when they already have and use them. Hell, if people want to dress that way, more power to 'em.Is all this really that big of a deal? It is a super hero game. Whop generally writes super hero stuff like comic and movies. Guys. Who are they mostly (if someone can quote a stat saying teenage girls LOVE comics and not Twilight, I am willing to change the statement) aimed at? Guys.
What do guys like seeing? Scantily dressed women. Does it really matter it Sister Psy, or that female toon over there is sexy? They can still kick ***. If anything, I find states codpiece and lycra more offensive than a sexy female suit.
And you know that no one is making the female toons dress sexy. Sure, the packs do have sexy bits..but no one is FORCED to dress like that. Sounds to me like the female players who have a very skimpy costume, then proceed to blow up and get all offended if you say they look nice.
But in this kind of thing there is swiftly becoming one choice and one choice only. And one choice is, surprise surprise, not much of choice.
If it was a case of 'Saloon girl OR Jacket wearing gunslinger cowgirl' then there would be no issue here. But there is no choice, and thus an issue.
Oh, and would some grammar and line-breaking kill you? Please? Because the lack of it's killing my eyes. -
Quote:It was a decent romp-stomp, leave your brain at home, adrenaline fuelled action-fest that I didn't mind watching. As far as I'm concerned, there hasn't been an actual Transformers anything since the '86 movie.
Although the giant robot thing Michael Bay did was not bad at times.
It wasn't Transformers, though, I know that much. -
Quote:^ AgreedA female jacket of the same genre of a male jacket can't be unique? It can't have fringe? Or an upturned collar? Or three quarter's length sleeves? Or a raglan shoulder? Or Western clavicle panels? Or have elbow or shoulder patches? Or be sueded? Or be a waistcoat? Or be a duster? Or a (less revealing) embroidered bolero?
I reject this notion of 'uniqueness', especially when it's corsets over and over again. (At this point, you could have made just one generic corset and produced different overlays for it.) Here's a vision of 'uniqueness': A fully covered gunslinger female, while the male model gets a bare chest with bandoleers. That would satisfy your vision of uniqueness, no? Probably not. And we all know why.
I also reject this false dilemma of either exactly the same or extreme gender differentiation.
I hope the art team finds the middle way. -

Quote:Eh, not seen Jonah Hex, but Miss Fox isn't what I'd call 'star' level material...I quite liked her character though - she was well-prepared for getting caught like that - just like Padme in Episode II
As for her role in Bayformers...eugh...
I just think she does women in general a disservice. Mind you, I'd say the same for the majority of female celebrities. -
Quote:^ Agreed. Put THAT to Development, I say...I hope they at least fix the transparent bow and have a no veil option. Those should be easy fixes.
But, I will say, I REALLY don't like the 'this stuff is done so far in advance that by the time the players actually see it in beta, there is no time for our feedback to mean a damn and actually get something changed' comment. That's a HORRIBLE way of doing things. -
Quote:Bayformers, Zwill, Bayformers. There hasn't been an ACTUAL Transformers movie since the '86 one, remember? What are you talking about? I thoroughly enjoyed "Transformers 2: Megan Fox Runs in Slo-Mo".
And anyone claiming otherwise will be beaten to death with there own skull

Quote:Yeeess, that really explains why there was a massive outcry when Catwoman and a few other heroines/villainesses were getting 'remakes' that made them shallow, 2D and dressing like-The female characters I play are more modestly dressed, and I agree that it wouldn't hurt to see more variety in that department. But those four characters don't represent the average, and neither do your forum's complaints. Please keep that in mind! In the comics, for every Sue Storm, there are a gazillion Emma Frosts, Scarlet Witches, Wonder Women, Black Cats (here's looking at you, Virtue), Storms, Mystiques, Power Girls and She-Hulks. And it SELLS. Now, log in to the game and tell me if you see much difference.
Back? Good. Now you know, many of your female players actually do enjoy their more revealing choices.
This is a comic book genre-based game, which is what the artists have been designing for. And the artistic direction in City of Heroes is the best out there. So please don't throw the baby out with the bath water. Do not hand the steering wheel to the forum community for the game's artistic direction. I'm not saying don't listen to the community. I'm saying we rarely represent your wider audience's tastes (CoT revamp and pre-tinting are probably exceptions, obviously), as sales have undoubtedly revealed time after time after time after time.
Oh, wait. Reality check, please? -
Quote:In that case, there really should be better 'listening to feedback' periods, as this is not a new topic. Were this the first time, it would be a case of 'oh well, it happens'.I will bring the topic to development.
Realistically, don't expect it any time soon. Schedules are planned out months in advance and right now we're working on both Issues 22 and 23 and art schedules are quite possibly the most rigorous and time consuming of the lot, especially the character artists. Time to revisit previous costume pieces is not currently included and to do so would compromise new costume sets, villain groups, etc, etc...it has an extreme domino effect.
This is not the first time. Or even second or third. So...someone is doing something wrong -
-
Thinking about it, and totally unrelated from this thread, I may be un-subbing too. Mostly because RL and Uni have been keeping me offline for some time and...well, it might well stay that way. Unsure.
-
Quote:I honestly don't see why that couldn't be a possibility. Paragon Studios is known for , and indeed makes it a selling point, that it listens to its players.Wouldn't that just be a dream?
"Here are some concept sketches for an upcoming costume pack. Vote for your favorite!"
What better way to make that reality than letting us see stuff like that? And, hey, market research right? Isn't that part of marketings job?
I've never seen any of that, just a big dollop of assumption...
