Quote:OP did say they weren't tied to origin, just origin themed.Nice idea, but please change the fact that it attaches an effect to a specific origin to making various effects just generally available.
For example, some of my Tech Origin heroes don't possess anything that would "spark" but the fading color effect would work quite nicely.
As a general rule, I don't like to see anything to a specific origin because different people have different concepts of what fits within any particular origin.
And...yeah, I really like this actually. Do want -
Uh....why do you want to turn something useful into a 'Kill yourself' button? Because that's exactly what you are suggesting here.
Tankers work. They are the number 1 Immovable Objects, and always will be. -
Quote:Which enemies have water attacks? There are water-y attacks already in the game. I don't know how water became the holy grail of powerset graphics, but sometimes the perfect is the enemy of the good.
FWIW Energy Blast looks and sounds terrible as water.
That'll be;
- Corolax
...and thats it. And, if I remember rightly, they have about, oh, one or two water-like powers? That look like total rear-end?
Besides, what exactly are you going to get with a Water Blast set?
-Little Water Blast
-Water Blast
-Big Water Blast
etc.
Not to be picky, but that doesn't exactly sound that riveting. At least it makes vague sense with Energy, and can masquerade as other effects (i.e. magic blasts, energy gauntlets, thermal/steam power etc)
Water is...well. Water. And it's not exactly the most threatening of powers. 'Make them all soggy' isn't going to do much to mobs.
So, technical hurdles and being something of a 'too niche' concept?
Just my opinion, anyway. But the Devs *are* still on record of saying 'not happening any time soon and we actually mean it this timeĀ' -
Quote:How about they stop releasing new powersets for a little while and make some of the old ones look less like a**? Mastermind pet customization. Alternate Claws animations (Actually, every melee weapon set, claws is just the worst offender). Gun options for Blast sets.Quote:There is no new money in that, but with new powersets they can charge us so its a no brainer.
I think after Staff melee and (wishfully) a pistol/sword set it'd be cool to have more animations.
Chances of that happening? PFFFT! Not on your nelly. -
Some cool suggestions. Sign me up for 'Sword and Pistol' something, anything.
Oh, and 'Water Anything' is not happening. Not in CoH1. That's fact. Unless you fancy forcing Ultra Mode as the base-line graphics level, and the ensuing utter firestorm that would create. The Devs are on record for saying that to make a 'Water -X-' set look good enough they would need Ultra mode. And, thus, would have to make Ultra mode mandatory, something they are totally not cool with having to do.
Ergo; no water sets. Energy Blast is it. Just saying. -

Quote:...Fail logic is fail. My Empath/Psi Defender can't solo Trapdoor because she's a freaking Empath Defender! What the smeg hell has soloing EBs, something everyone KNOWS is not always possible on all ATs (and when it is we might as well just give up, because then all ATs will be equal and, thus, pointless) have to do with Incarnating?way way bad idea. Incarnate powers are already immense. Many who are not even worthy of them are attaining them far to often. Yes IMO if you cant solo trapdoor easily then you dont need to be an incarnate. Sorry but its a small standard. outside of the handful of incarnate trials the power is just over kill anyways and F2P accounts cant even access them at 50 so wanting even more power for being one seems way needy.
You should already be feeling so powerful from your build alone that when you first start on the path to incarnate it only feels like it has finally acknowledged what was already a fact that had waited to be recognized.
Those who have taken the path without being ready are shallow creatures similar to the tyrant state and his lackies. The path to true Power is not something that should be quick and easy.
I...that...Yeah, levels of Fail have hit critical levels here. Engaging all vents... -
Variety is the spice of life, they say, and it's true. I loved fighting (thematically anyway) the Rogue PPD in some of the newer arcs. Because, on Heroes, you NEVER fight anything like that. Sure from a mechanics point of view they were the same and the same pile of 'ARGH I hate you!' that they are for Villains.
But stuff like the Tuatha and Firbolg and things you rarely fight or have to go out of your way to find tend to be more interesting to fight. Redcaps fit their descriptions so perfectly in their actions; they are small, annoying and yet also incredibly dangerous if you let them be.
It's the same reason I really want the Shadow Shard to get some such badly needed revamping and love and general accessability; because the mobs there are so weird, alien and different.
It's also, on the flip side, why I get so damn sick of Nemesis and high level Crey; they are ALL copy-paste recolours of the same damn mob. Nemesis has, ultimately, Two Infantry, an LT class, robots and thats IT. They are all just re-colours of the same things. Crey at high levels loses all its personality with its secret agents, armoured personal, experimental power armour and the secretive Paragon Protectors. And its ALL facelss power armour. Which...is kind of lame actually.
The Rikti suffer a little bit from lack of diversity. I do get sick of drone mobs, and I wouldn't shed a single oily tear if all their damn monkeys spontaneously dropped dead in their own gas. Having MGP bosses (Mobile Gun Platforms), which would be very slow but very heavy hitting cut-down versions of the EB battlesuits would be cool, along with more Drone variety instead of 'a total embuggerance to hit'.
Unique enemies or special variants are good. Copy-pasta is bad and tastes bad too. -
Quote:Why would you want this trash on a stalker? This set has not been good on scrappers since issue 2 when you could go perma-unstoppable and it has not been great on tanks since issue 4. So why would you want this? True enough you could work magic with IOs but you should not need IOs just so its workable.
Sorry, what game are you playing? Or maybe you are getting confused with Dark armour or Energy Aura? -
Quote:So, changing something from 'Never used in 90% of cases' to 'used far more often and not sneered at nearly globally' is 'dumbing down' to you?My dark/dark corr uses his snipe a lot when soloing. It adds to his burst damage at the start of battle.
All powers are situational. Dumbing down the game to only one assumed situation is not a good idea.
Right, ok... -
Quote:Hmn, I can tell it's just after Christmas. I'm agreeing with Geko againI agree with Sam. Most of these powers should be modified to fit the new game reality. Especially Devices which is by far the weakest Blaster secondary. I would even go farther and say that Rest should have its recharge, debuff and activation time removed entirely. Leave the interrupt. Having spent the last couple of weeks in a galaxy far, far way, I have really come to an even stronger belief that balancing around downtime is a dumb mechanic.
No, seriously, this should happen. The recharge cost on Rest is just a 'balance by being annoying'. You still die in about one-two hits if you are daft enough to use it near a fight....which is as it should be, really.
Snipes I used to love, and still take if I have a spare power space and some slots, just for picking off long rangers (Blazing Bolt is the one exception, because its got super sweet opening damage, like all Fire attacks). I have never taken Time Bomb or Gun Drone, simply because they are a massive waste of time, power and slots.
Now, stuff like Omega Bomb, that's what gadgets should be. Fast, cool and punchy. Something Batman would throw down to beat up the likes of Croc or to get rid of sharks. Not a slow, ponderous thing that is more effort than its worth. -
Would be nice. 'Fall flat on your face' every single time (bar the odd 'flat on your back') is quite old by now.

Quote:Honestly, it seems to me that what we're asking for is a very large two-handed kama. And as long as we're talking fantastic non-existent weapons, we may as well specify what it is we want in detail, because when we ask for a "scythe," we're not actually asking for a scythe.
Nuff saidWe're in a Superhero game with aliens, dimensional entities and all sorts of wierd and wonderful stuff. I think a straight-set scythe is the least of the problems, Sam.
-
Or, for turbo evil version;
And no, the Demon AXE is not a scythe, hook or anything like that. It is an AXE. It says AXE. Thus, its an AXE! Come on, people, its even written down for you! -
It did look good. I was a massive fan of the LotR trilogy, even though, in hindsight, they did mess up a few bits (Eowen is NOT a wilting flower who's obsessed with Aragorn, for petes sakes. Why did they cut the bit of her stabbing Orcs in the glittering caves? *sigh*) and making Gimli a comedic while Legolas turned into action-elf.
Looking forward to this. -

Should have made him cry Chistmasy emo tears
Awesome! -
Meh, my personal observation has been that you MUST use as many parts from the Roman armour as possible, preferably horrible colour combinations, and be completely devoid of a reason for having that look on that character.
I'm clearly too deep for CCs -
The Devs have said, repeatedly, that there is simply no way they are removing the sfx from stuff like fire, ice and dark.
HOWEVER.
However, I am of the opinion that is way past high time for some good alternatives to the default sfx auras. Like a thin, icy overlay effect for Ice armour, something subtle like occasional plumes of flame and fire from the mouth etc for Fire and more subtle options in general other than 'ZOMFG FIYAH! ICE! DARKY DARK!' which is what we, admittedly, have right now.
I am fully behind you for the call on Invis/stealth powers, however. I despise the ripple-glow effect on the stealth power in Devices. And that damn BUZZING sound! Ugh. -
Finding a glowy? Going to get a layer-cake cave.
Hunt the Boss? Layer-cake. At least they tend to have dialogue pop-ups (not always though)
Kill all? Layer-cake, with one mob spirited away in some dark corner.
I wouldn't mind them if they weren't so tight and hard to navigate at times. ESPECIALLY on an MM. -
Not the RP forums? Sad face
Oh well, I guess in fairness it would have opened up more griefing possibilities, but it also stops those who've let subs lapse from keeping up. And, well, still not worth the price.
Nevermind.
