Oh, did you not get the spoilers about this SSA? Well, how about MOAR SPOILERS on the same page?!
Ech... -
Quote:^ AgreedOne word - Passion.
If all you had were smiling happy faces that were like GG and responded to everything done by the devs with smiles and there was no passion in finding a way to make the good into the great then the game would slowly drift into nothingness.
If I throw a critque out it is for the simple reason that something seems wrong about how we are doing things. I mean remember the old Model T saying - you can get any color you want as long as you want black. People were not happy with just black for very long.
I want content and rewards for solo players, small team folks, large trial players, those who love new costumes, powers, content and so on. To retain and encourage all players to find a way to have fun.
There is a difference between constructive criticism and just pointless whining. It's much rarer to find whining on these boards. -
More Posi, less SSTFs. Agreed and /Signed, heavily. Truest point? Calling contacts. They want us to work with them, they can give us their [pancake] number!

If you feel like your characters are somehow chained to Eva's "puddle of annoyance", then don't run Ramiel's arc. And for God's sake, don't listen to the Big Blue guy standing in a citadel of manipulators and liars.
*I* coined Puddle of Mild Annoyance -
Quote:Then please get someone who knows what they are doing to re-organise the CC UI.A few items have been lost or removed over time for various reasons, but don't worry--current policy is that nothing is to be removed. Any new addition would be in the CC alongside existing options.
(I say that because a number of the last UI changes have been, shall we say...un-intuitive. Such as the Paragon Market.) -
Quote:Yeah, a lot of my girls use that top. That and it looks good with so many things...something that can't be said of the 'T Shirt' option. At least the female model HAS a real shirt option. Guys get nadaThere's one tank top for women that does this, and I use it a lot for a leotard-style top because it looks so much better than the other options.
So my vote would be for more of that kind of thing. -

One request;
A lot of the current 'painted on' fake tights do actually server very well as various unnatural skin-tones on other costumes. So...this alls under the old 'getting rid of totally is bad' thing.
Since we don't seem like we're going to get any changes, updates and improvements to skin any time soon, I'd suggest leaving all the current options in, but under a 'Legacy' sub-heading (Seriously. CC needs more organised sub menus, period)
And then go nuts and do new mask (so badly needed it's not even funny) and, really, a mixture of A, B and C, although we do have quite a decent selection in C for now, so more of A and B for a bit? -
Quote:The Well 'lore' can eat my shiny metal rear end.Lol considering one of the complaints is "well, why are there all these incarnates here? I thought I was the most powerful", perhaps it will mitigate that so not everyone is incarnating all their characters to max all the time and instead, think of a concept that *does* work with the lore and only have a few.
I mean, is it that you can't think of a concept that does fit? Or that you won't?
My 'Incarnate level' characters powers so far;
Alpha: Alpha is a genius level robot a penchant for stealing or simply building high tech equipment. He's been around for a long time; now he's really, really good at it. When you get in fights with people who can punch out space-ships, you tend to fight back with higher power shield and even shootier lasers.
Chief Centurion Z1: The Chief is a mechanoid alien. He's a mixture of scientist, doctor and highly powerful warrior. He's always learning, always picking up new tricks, and has, really, always been one hell of a tough nut to crack.
Kitsune Vixen: A human/kitsune hybrid mutant, Vix's psychic and empathic powers only get better with practice and inner focus. As Earth, her home and her friends are forced more and more into danger, she focuses more and more on how she can best protect them and the citizens of Paragon. That dedication and refusal to give up is what drives and empowers her. She's always had potential, now she's having to push herself to the limit.
Umbral Nightwalker: An amoral Nictus scientist can do quite well in the Rogue Isles, more so when you can get quick and fast results simply by paying mercs. It's even better when you have no use for human currency. Nightwalker has spent all his time working on his ultimate goal, the further evolution and perfection of the Nictus race. His experiments are slowly bearing fruit, even more so as more varied and powerful opponents present themselves for harvesting of samples and new ways to prolong his already considerable lifespan and augment his power. He will not rest until he has found what he considers his 'cure' for the Nictus.
No need for the puddle of annoyance at all. I have reasons I'm perfectly happy with that explain increased powers. End of. -

Quote:Nemesis. Martin Henri. Giovanna Scaldi. The entire freaking Mu and Oranbegan civilizations. Possibly Lady Grey.
Pandora's Box is, in itself, an excuse to not rewrite the entire history of the world to account for super powers. It added nothing to the game world, really.Quote:Yes, of course. And we take great pains to ignore it, too. Because it's crap, and it seeks to define, or re-define our characters, as it were. It also makes one wonder where the Oranbegans got the powers to have an advanced magical civilization 14 000 years ago, long before Pandora's Box was opened.
For me, it's a much simpler problem - I have a wide selection of characters whose age counts somewhere in the billions of years. There's the heir to the power of creation and the usurper of the power of destruction, there's the insectoid race brood queen who essentially made her own race, there are the couple of automatons from the beginning of time... I have a few, and I'll be damned before a piece of "lore" that's not even in the game to begin with stops me. -
Quote:And why not? Positron is on record having said 'we don't want alignment to be a switch you flick on and off'. They clearly ARE ok with that, if they are then willing to sell instant changes. There's also the fact that removing the timegate makes alignment tokens less valuable, which means a lot of people who might otherwise have bought them will just power through the tip missions instead. Why is it such a terrible thing when Paragon Studios tries to turn a profit? The whole game goes down if they don't.
Again, what is wrong with keeping the merit gate but allowing people to change all the way in one day if they want? For some people, myself included, that's still quite a lot of missioning and time. But it's more annoying having to do a certain number of tips in one day, or I'll be barred from doing the one extra that I missed because of some ludicrous gate.
I honestly don't see why people are getting so defensive about a time gate that has always been pointless and purely based off the 'not a switch' statement. That statement is no longer true. Ergo, why time gate it? Let people have some more, oh what's that word...FREEDOM? -
Quote:Oh lord, GIVE THIS TO ME! NOW!
There's one jacket in our options that deserves a look at, and that's the Retro jacket. A revamp of that where it's closer-fitting like the later Steampunk and Western sets would be very appreciated, as would a proper trenchcoat, again ala the Spirit and most famously, Rorscach.
You have NO idea how much I want that style of jacket, along with a proper military jacket/trenchcoat. Ideally something like this;

Just to show what I mean. Took the original image and hit the teeth with the blur tool a little, and around the mouth to soften her smile up. Also softened up the eyes and the cheeks, which were a little jutting. Also gave a once pass with the sharpen tool on the hair, to make it really stand out.
Right, I'll stop being a pedantic little botheration, eheh *scuttles back to the lair* -
Quote:I missed this one, and it's simply awesome. Love, love, LOVE the hairBesides doing more drawing on several projects.... I just finished another background to give myself a break from the other projects *giggles*
As I did a background for CR's drawing of Dee, it is CoH related...and that is why I shall post it here
A bubbly pinkish background for Dee!
There is no such thing as too much pink!
My one critique; take the blur tool to the teeth. They are too defined, too 'in your face'. They jump out of the picture, taking attention from the rest of the face, which you don't want. They also stumble a little into uncanny valley territory.
On the whole? Great work! -
Ok, time to be the unpopular one, with that monster of all monsters; Art Critique D=
Firstly; good points. The clothing is good. The chainmail looks a little clunky in places, but it works. Merlin's jacket and neckerchief came out really well, and the hair didn't come out badly either.
Now. The eyes and faces. The lips seem to be way too defined, because they are popping out of the faces, rather than being a part of them. They also seem far more pronounced than they should be, especially on male characters. They should be noticeable from the rest of the face, sure, but not to that extent.
I would suggest toning the colour down, bringing it closer to that of the rest of the face. Guys lips simply aren't that outstanding, and the brain says 'this is wrong' when they are.
The eyes. They really hit the uncanny valley. Merlin seems to have a 1000 yard stare, rather than looking at Arthur, which I assume is what you were after.
His left (our right) pupil needs to be brought inward slightly, which will aim his gaze more towards Arthur. If in doubt, draw some faint guidelines from each eye to the focus. They should meet up at the end.
And, most importantly, they are too far apart. Merlins need to be brought slightly closer together, and ditto for Arthur's. They both are just off the mark.
All that said, this is still a very good, very solid piece. The colours are good, lighting is good, composition is nice, you are clearly well aware of how to do pictures without line art to follow and do them well.
So, keep it up -
-
Yeah, that's the one. Mitsurugi's sheathed-sword attacks were really damn nice. I often used one of them as the finisher just because it looked so cool
-
More importantly, the Well in itself isn't a problem. However, it could have been done so much better. Like, making it a mirror-empowerer like Scarlet made it in the fiction.
Not some semi-sentient, elder mad-god that we have to bow and scrape to to get power. That just...ugh. Terribad. -
Quote:I've never heard the actual name, but I have caught glimpses of it in general media (I swear a character in Soul Calibur used a form of this...I think?)I am totally secure in NOT being a geek. Seriously, has anyone who isnt (I assume) a hard core fan of manga and comics heard of ANY of those things you are basing the set on?
It does all sound very cool though.
Sounds cool, actually. I'd /sign -
This, if we're not going to get a better store UI designed (the current one is a pain most of the time)
-
/Signed for the OP's points. All of them make sense.
And, please for [Pancakes] sake, can we get some new music? That one, dirge like beat is getting so very old >< -
Quote:What Development costs? The system is already there, the alignment tokens are going to be something like changing a few integers and numbers (Alignment = H0, Amerits = 0, Progbar = 0, etc)But those impatient people should bear the software development costs involved with making it possible.
There is no added development cost here, not any that makes a blind bit of sense anyhow.
