Quote:Ok, putting it simply, the OP's suggestion;-snip-
Does it affect *anyone's* backstory that, for instance, the Malta Group is just working against (or trying to capture/subverty) any "metahuman?" No. Is anyone's backstory affected by having MAGI, GIFT, DATA, etc around? Nope - and they've been there since day 1. The OP's suggestion wouldn't affect anyone that way either.
The OP's suggesting story content. Not making (say) Mutant have a higher resist cap or something. And if you're really adamant that nobody would have any outside interest in your character, you could ignore the arcs.
1) As someone else said, this locks people out of content. That means there are LESS people able to play certain content. Given the Devs stance at present, where they seem to prefer content spread as evenly as possible (and only dividing by Hero/Villain, and even then it's only when they can't make it co-op) I don't see that happening.
2) The history of 'origin specific' story telling at present falls under HEATs and VEATs. Now, HEATs arcs suffer from being old, and having no new mechanics. That said, the story is a little convoluted and bland at times.
VEATs got Dr Brainstorms finale. I really hope I don;t have to spell that out any further. That and the current stuff like Twinshots arc (ok-ish) and Dr Graves ([Pancake] terrible) doesn't inspire confidence in me that this would be handled WELL.
That's it, really. -

Count Alphonse Crey! I have been RPing him for years and so I can personally assure you all here, there is absolutely no one more committed to protecting humanity from the tyranny of all META.
From an RPers point of view, I really hope you are joking... -
Quote:Ugh, that last fight... That ONE 'Total Focus' style attack of his is bloody ridiculous. That was knocking half my health off, on a level 50 fully SO slotted and Dull Pained TANKER. That is NOT a small amount of damage for someone with that much health!Played the blueside arc on my 47 SD/WM tank. I thought the cutscene was very nice. The arc itself was quite good fun but the barroom brawl should have been me saving the otjer heroes on my own. Too many allies in arcs nowadays.
The final fight was totally underwhelming. It was a boring slugfest. Marshall Blitz-style min-trials is what I want.

That said, I loved the bar room brawl. It felt like the point where you were no longer 'some PC' that had to let the NPCs help you.
SPOILERS (As if the arc wasn't already...)
As soon as the fight kicked off I was single handedly punching Mako's face into the floor. The Vindicators were busy smacking up the patron sidekicks...while me and fish-face duked it out. That didn't say 'Oh look, you need NPC help!' to me, that said 'You are now in the Big leagues, punching the big bads in the face. You are at the top.'
That, to me, felt good. Not to mention they all came out with about half health and I hadn't even taken a scratch -
Quote:[Insert link to Paragon Wiki and 'Registered Heroes' for when the wiki is back up]Nemesis, of course.
I kid.
The actual answer is: Blue Steel, and any other hero who agrees to submit to democracy and the rule of law by only using his or her powers against other human beings under the color of law, subject to the legal process and chain of command, any super who becomes a police officer or a soldier instead of a vigilante.
Statesman's heart was in the right place, and he loved America, but his support for the Citizen's Crime Fighting Act, and all of the horrific fallout of that catastrophic legal mistake, showed just how little he understood what America means. Replacing American government and the rule of law with an incarnate theocracy, where anyone with an FBSA rating above 40 is treated as a god, as a force of nature, instead of being treated the same way any other citizen would be treated who used force against another person, was a monstrous crime that deserves to be remembered right alongside all of the times that he saved the world.
Registered Heroes are ALREADY bound by the same laws as Police officers. That's the entire point of Hero Licences.
I honestly cannot tell whether you are being serious or totally ignorant. -

Quote:Oh gods, yes, THIS! ^^^ A thousand times this! A skin layer would do wonders for having stuff like tattoos + tops, different skin types, fur, etc. Please make that happen! So I was thinking to myself about one particular issue I have with using a lot of skin-showing "Tights" pieces, and that's if you're wanting to use a skin type other than "smooth human". For instance if I wanted my character to have the Bioluminescent skin, or the Organic Armor skin, or Reptile skin, I'm not able to use things like the Tank Top, Excess Plus, or Witch tops, because the skin is baked into the texture as smooth.
So I was gonna suggest here(since this thread seems the appropriate place) that you could make tops like these as body-hugging "Chest Detail" pieces that go over top of the skin. That way you would still have the costume part, but you could pick your own skin beneath it (or use another Tights option as well.) We already have very tight, body-hugging Chest Detail parts such as the Roman armor and the Barbarian Corsets, so theoretically this is something that could be done. Ideally these pieces would be available in addition to the normal directly-on-Chest parts we have now. And if this is something that's possible, all 3 model types should be looked at (Female, Male, and Huge) as they all have some pieces that show some skin, like T-shirts and Tank tops and such. -
Quote:This is my position as well. If the texture's resolution is increased without changing the shape of it i see no need to retain the lower resolution texture.Quote:Exactly. If it's exactly the same other than being higher resolution, why have two copies? You'll just have people running around looking like pixellated crap because they didn't update to the new version. :/
Making a high res version of the exact same thing means that getting rid of the old, SD version is ok. But if the 'HD' version actually adds seams and a mesh-texture to the piece, that is not, in essence, the same piece. Then it's not cool to have one but cut the other, as that's replacement, not an upgrade.
Hope that makes sense -

Congratulations. You not only missed the point by about a billion miles, you also broke my Facepalm page. I do not possess a facepalm with enough force to quantify the amount of [pancake] you have going on there!

Having now played the arc, I just want to say I loved it. It was well written, there were some [Pancake] EPIC set pieces (eat fist, fish-boy!) and the cinematic was one of the best so far. I honestly felt a kind of sad happiness after that. Over-layered with a desire to pound Wade's face into pulp.
All of which would have been twice as strong if it hadn't been spoilered already. Would have been twice the shock and even more impressive. Eh, oh well. Learn the lesson for next time. -
I get that, and appreciate it. Jack, by all accounts, wasn't exactly great for CityOf with his nutty 'vision' and 'my way or the highway' mentality that people so hated.
But, purely for the story, characters and most importantly players sake, why couldn't they have held off and simply not spoilered it? Why not leave all these articles until after Part 5 had come out, rather than shortly after Part 4?
If they could have waited, everything would have been fine. But the whole thing feels soured (for me) by the wrecking of all suspense and surprise. -
Welcome, and I would say 'see you about' but my play time at the moment is erractic at best. I.e. by the time I get back on in the evenings everyone has already [Pancake]'d off >_>
But hey, you'll know when I'm on. URP will fill with the powers of rage and boiling anger that are my (apparent) trademark -
Google, you fail me. I cannot find a 'Bear Cavalry' picture without a swear word in it >_<
-
I still find it objectionable that the game gives us DOs and SOs that aren't our origin. Yes, I can port a few mill over from my sat in stasis level 50 main, but that's kind of besides the point.
-
Given origins can mean anything, how do you safely define what is appropriate content?
For example, a 'Natural' hero could be an awesome ninja...or an alien warrior. Or a being who naturally has super powers without any need for enhancement. Or a Nature Elemental.
Tech? Straight up guy in a tech suit...or a sentient robot, an alchemist from another dimension who uses magi-tech. Science can come from a million and one sources, not all human. Magic is an even broader group, as is mutant.
The long and short of it is, the time spent doing story work is better spent on content EVERYONE can enjoy all the time, rather than 'Origin Only' arcs that will never mesh well with all concepts, and probably not even the majority. There is a reason Origins have been left well enough alone for a long ol' time now. -
Quote:No, but that's only part of the overall story. The POINT of the story, surprise surprise, was 'Who will die?' It's right there, in the title. That's the name, the point of the freaking arc.Oh, you found out what happens in parts 6 and 7 by them releasing one tiny tidbit of info about part 5?
So, explain to me how it's NOT a giant freaking [pancake] spoiler by telling people EARLY 'By the way, this is who dies'? Please, I'm intrigued how this is somehow justifiable, and not just 'Yay, everything of Jacks is finally gone!' which is what I got from the Informer article. -
Quote:That's an utterly [Pancake] contrast and you know it. Return of the King is Part 3 of Lord of the Rings, where it's only a small part of the overall story. In "The Retrun of the King", Aragorn is crowned 4 chapters before the end - it's made me rage ever since I first read it.
No, this is more like someone finishing reading the Two Towers, before the publishers go "Oh, by the way, in Return of the King Frodo destroys the Ring."
Sure, you can guess that's what might happen, but you don't know.
And this is worse than that, because until Part 5 we HAD NO IDEA who it was who was going to die, because there were 8 options out of the FP.
But no, apparently spoilers are cool and awesome, because we get to finally get rid of the last vestige of Jack. And believe me, I dislike him as much as the next person, but that's no [pancake] excuse for bad marketing and ruining of story. End of. -
Quote:Well, what? I expect to at least be allowed to have Part 5 hit live before spoilers. They didn't even manage that! It was just after Part 4 when someone bright spark piped up with "Oh hey guys! In Part 5 Statesman dies!"Please relax and stop being angry about expectations of mystery that you baked up in your own head that they failed to live up to.
...ok, keep being angry, and redirect it back to your own expectations.
What part of 'This is a complete spoiler' doesn't compute? I'm honestly confused by this. -
Quote:So at no point, NO POINT WHATSOEVER, you took the notions of 'suspense', 'surprise' and 'tension' and thought "Hey, maybe we should keep this quiet until the episode is actually released on live?"
Then I had the idea of making it a countdown of sorts, hinting that someone from the "Surviving Eight" would perish before the end of the arc.
...
In addition, it allowed us to tell a better story, with a mysterious, yet familiar, villain finally pulling off the "impossible". We were able to establish how Darren Wade was able to pull off the feat over the course of several mini-story arcs spanning the first few months of the main arc.
But no. No, you had to go and ruin it. Because, let's face it. This isn't about keeping the suspense up and telling the story well, this is all about finally kicking Statesman out and getting rid of Jack's remnants. So, glory be, out come the spoilers, without so much as a by your leave or may I.
I wanted to know who died. I didn't know. I was wondering, each arc, would this be the one where someone copped it? Who could it be?
And then glory [pancake] be, in the flipping announcements no less; HEY EVERYONE! STATESMAN DIES! ISN'T THAT COOL?!
No. No it is not cool. It is not cool when you RUIN the suspense of a story freaking EARLY! What the heck is wrong with whoever was responsible for this [pancake] idiocy?
Yes, I am angry. I consider myself a writer and, as such, consider this an inexcusable error that I had previously not thought Paragon capable of. Look who was wrong...
