  1. I'd hope the Pocket D pack goes live soon, because that at least looks to be mostly done.
  2. I still don't understand why people feel the need to have all their toggles on, all the time, every time they log in.

Some of us RP? That's a time when toggles aren't always wanted.
  3. Funnily enough, Alpha wasn't always my namesake. That honour goes to Chief Centurion Z1.

Who has put up with more bad slotting, respecs and bad re-rolls than is honestly fair. Fortunately, after a bad spate as Shield/Elec and then Inv/Elec he is now back to his former glory as an awesome-sauce Invul/Energy Tanker. And the Cardiac slot has finally taken care of the endurance problems he used to have

Been to 50 twice with him now, hehe
  4. Lord, if Fusionette and Faultline were part of a new Phalanx, players Heroes would DEFINITELY be called in more often to save the day

Seriously, though? Hmn....I dunno. They'd need some new characters, I think. Well rounded and with WAY more in-game backstory to them.
Hell, you could even have a new SSA; 'The Freedom Phalanx; Second Founding' where the PCs have to round up new members.
And Villains could either gather some analogues (bit lame I guess) or get dirt on the new members and start sending 'Just TRY it, kiddo' statements of intent?
  5. DD, you didn't mention what the theme was for the month.

If that's not so close it doesn't matter I honestly don't know what is.

    Indeed.
Now the problem comes when the items I DO want...but the only delivery method is objectional and based on gambling.

But we've already had that discussion, and this thread is way, WAY off topic as it is.

This entire game is optional. But Paragon Studios want our money, yes?

Then they need to give us ways to spend it which we are happy with. Ways we are not happy with get ignored. Simple.

Is someone getting all the parts with 10 packs vs someone getting them over 100 fair? Well, it's not *unfair* because the guy with the 100 packs will have a slew of other great stuff too. I'd just say it's *unlucky*, but hey, I wasn't all that lucky last night so life is life.
That's entirely besides the point. That is stuff I have no wish to be spending money on. It would be like if some costume packs were available in separate pieces as well as the pack, while others were not given that option. For example, the Gunsligner pack; the only piece that interested me, and thus the only one I bought, was the cigarette. I have bought no other parts of that pack. Now, if I'd HAD to buy an all or nothing pack, then I probably wouldn't have.

I don't see why I should potentially have to pay a metric butt-ton to get the parts I want, when there should be an option to get JUST the parts I want. It's the same 'incentive' as the Incarnate costume parts were; trying to get people to do stuff they otherwise have no inclination to do. And you know what? All that does is get people hacked off that they being fished for like that.

But, really, I get the feeling you're never going to agree, and I sure as hell am never going to be a fan or supporter of the Gamble Packs. So I suggest we just drop it.
  11. All the blast sets need ALL the new blast options spread around. I was incredibly surprised and disappointed to see that each set only got 1-2 of the new animations, and they tended to repeat a lot.

All the other stuff in the packs are worth what you pay for it and the costume bits are a nice bit of incentive to unlock on your way to getting ATOs or what have you.

But then, I don't feel entitled to everything being released how I want it (again Celestial/Fire&Ice) so having some exclusivity in how things are obtained is basically keeping the status quo.

Why should you be able to just unlock costumes in a poof while others have to wait or spend a sizable wad of points (haha Celestial/Fire&Ice again)? Because you're VIP? Pfft, entitlement much? I bet a lot of Prems spend more on this game than I do currently as a VIP so share in the struggle to get cool stuff

PS: I like the Elemental Order set to (mainly just the belt and gloves) but see no difference in locking them in SPs vs locking other sets behind incarnate content which is itself locked behind being a VIP. I say, tuff cookies to you and the rest. At least SPs come with other stuff my lowbies can use.
Leo, kindly take that stick out of your backside before the next post will you? It's getting old real fast.

You seem to be completely ignoring the difference between the Packs and other methods.
The VIP parts (And this has nothing to do with being a VIP either, in fact I've set my sub to not auto-reknew next time it comes up, so thats projected fallacy right there) are a certainty. You will either get them in x months, or by buying points, whichever takes your fancy.

Costume packs, too, are a certainty. You give points, they give you parts. It's that simple. Ditto for in-game. You get x merits, you get parts. I still hate the level locked and trial gated Ascension armour just on principle, but it is, at least, a certainty.

The Super Packs are NOT a certainty. They are gambling. You ramble on about 'fairness', when one person might get all the parts in 10 packs while someone else might get them in 100. Is that, somehow, fair?

If so, well, I think we're done here frankly.

It's only an issue for those with a selfish 'I want NAO!' attitude...even the 'must have everything' people really aren't a problem as they'd be buying the super packs for every extra goodie the market dishes out anyway.

    *Shakes finger at TA*

I'd suggest just embracing the Super Packs. I quite like them myself. I've been needing something to spend my extra points on besides costumes and powersets that's actually worth the expense.
This has absolutely nothing to do with 'selfish' or 'want now!' or any of that utter guff.

This has EVERYTHING to do with "I will put points down when I so choose and I will receive costume parts or something equivalent for my points. I will NOT and flat out refuse to put points down with a CHANCE to get what I actually want, and run the high risk of getting absolute dross that holds interest for me only in negative amounts."

I would like the Elemental Order costume out of the pack, and that is it. The other stuff holds NO interest for me. Ergo, I refuse to have to gamble for what I want. That is not acceptable. Just because you've needed something to waste money on and gamble with doesn't mean everyone does. And I KNOW I'm not alone in this, going by the Beta board responses.

Asking for stealth now is probably out of the question as the power is already fast enough.
Not a bad idea, actually. I quite like that.

-Pets/Granite/Epic ATs: they really need to add, instead of customizable models, just alternate themes to add variety. If you can make a power activate a different effect just by use of some kind of 'mode' (see: Titan Weapon's Momentum), you should be able to 'perma' put someone in a different mode and call up alternate models when activating a certain power. Or they can just get on the ball and add it properly to the costume creator instead of trying a work around...but ya know, if doing that is taking years, maybe they should just buck up and use that work around...
I think you might want to go easy on all that slag throwing, Leo. I'm pretty damn sure if it was anywhere near easy, it woulda been done by now.
Last time we got word on this, it was to the tune of "Adding more to Granite and Kheld forms is really, really damn hard." Because bare in mind you need to have an entire new model that doesn't break, and that can manage ALL the animations the other models do, if not more. That's not easy to do, as far as I know.

-Pool Customization: You know? I don't give a crap about Staff Melee or even Darkness Control. I mean, yeah they're cool but...I haven't even gotten around to playing Street Justice or making a concept for Time Manipulation yet. I'd have rather the devs drop all these new set non-sense, added all the costumes to super packs (so you'd gamble for the costumes) and actually *FINISH* power customization. Because, on this time line, it'll never get done. Might as well never to expect pool customization at all unless you still plan to be playing 4+ years down the line...

...but then, I'm usually wrong about these kind of things so who knows...
ALL costume in the Super Packs?! Uh....what? Just...what the hell are you smoking now?

Yes, I want pool customisation too. So do a LOT of people. BUT, as far as we know, that also takes a hell of a lot of coding time, mostly to do with UI and powers and the like. Again, we have NO clue how hard this is, other than it's taken this long with them in full knowledge of our wants, ergo it must be quite damn hard.

And bare in mind that a LOT of people have asked for new sets, such as Staff Fighting, for quite some time. This game is simply not about any one person. I mean, hell, if it was down to me then the production schedule woulda been COMPLETELY different, and there probably would have been an equal if not more hacked off people than normal.

And yeah, all costume options in the freaking gambling packs is the worst idea since Unique Dragon. EVER.

    Oh please, this again?

Right, explain to me what part of removing the need for a long, boring, run-to-death-on-every-damn-alt arc has to do with 'dumbing down', other than a short hand for 'I don't like it, and I think everyone who disagrees with me is stupid'?

And I took 15 months to get my first 50, probably longer for my second 50 and first villain. Does that somehow make my opinion more valid than yours? Other than the fact I'm not trying to call anyone 'dumb'.

As an avid TF leader, when I do bother to run an ITF I definatly want people who know where the zone is, and some of the lore surounding it, if they dont care about lore they can play another game as far as I am concerned.

If people cant be bothered to run through the unlocking arc, they certainly cant be relied upon to bother running through a whole TF, which unless speed ran will take a lot longer then that quick and easy unlock arc.

The arc helps weed out the inferior type of personality tha doesnt belong in our game. if you cant easily solo that arc in 30 min or less your character or play style have HUGE flaws you need to improve. Or play a different game.

Its really just like the incarnate unlocking arc. I dont personally think anyone who cant easily solo Trapdoor has any business touching any of the incarnate content.

If you think your on a team running an ITF, and being useful, when you couldnt even unlock the arc on your own, then you can be sure your presence on that team is equally meaningless.

So thank you OP but no I would rather drink tea in my private little club with those I know and can count upon, rather then let it become a noisy, over crowded social zone for newbs who think harry potter is cooler then harry dresden. Let alone a better source of inspiration for a magical hero in paragon.
    ...Dude.
Whatever you are on, I WANT me some.

Oh, and as an RPer, can I apologise to everyone else and point out that not all of us suffer from cranial-rectal reversal disorder.

Tangent; What the hell does soloing have to do with 'competence' and Trapdoor? I mean, heaven forbid I want to get Incarnate powers on my Empathy/Psi Defender who is, you know, a team based character? Not to mention all the other support ATs?

Not to mention this has absolutely naff all to do with 'difficulty' and far more to do with 'Oh god, yay, this tedious pile of drivel for the umpteen-millionth time'. Montague's arc is not hard. It IS tedious, samey and a stupid time sink that people, myself included, are sick of having to run on every damn character.

So, please. Dr Hobo wants his soapbox back.

  20. Nope. Had I been saying Coyote was just fine, but that the Jetboard was 'all wrong' then, yes, I'd be a hypocrite, given the two are direct analogues of each other. The example I used was not, and is therefore open to comparison.

But, really, given all the passive aggressive jabs and such (really, I've brought Super Packs up on two other occasions, both in threads already talking about them), I think we're done here.

In fact, I think this thread is pretty much done. Although I could bottle this stuff and sell it in weaponised form. That would be a neat project.
    Cave Johnson, we're done here.

Maybe this is a good change, since it will make people work harder for the award at the end.

People hardly run this Arc alone any more and seem like everyone either trying finding someone doing the arc or forming a team for it just to get the badge and access to cimerora.

Yes, and I've given the reasons why.

    One more time;

    1) The Coyote power contains nothing more than that. If you don't like it, then you can and likely will ignore it.
    2) This covers the majority of stuff on the market; pet powers, costume sets, etc. You can also buy single parts from costume sets.
    3) The super packs do NOT follow this rule, and instead, if you want the costume parts, you are forced to gamble for them. There is also no other way to get them outside of the packs (yet)
    4) Ergo, the Coyote power is 'right' in that you can easily ignore it and not lay down money on it. The Packs are 'wrong' in that they gate options and force people who want the parts to gamble or never get the parts, which is a very poor option for something you would actually like.
    5) Thus, calling the Coyote power 'stupid' or 'broken' is illogical, because you can simply ignore it if you don't like it. Doing the same with the Super Packs, as a LOT of people have done, is due to the luck based nature of unlocks and what many people view as unfair exclusivity.

Now, does that make it as clear as it should be? Or are you now just taking digs at me because you want to?
  24. Wai-wai-wait...is that PAINTED?! O_o
