The Chief slammed his back against the van, turning to Wolf who was sighting on the last, rage mad troll.
"The HELL is that thing?!"
"Beats me, Chief," Wolf replied, with all his trademark calmness. "Sure as hell isn't pretty, and I think it just got mad..."
"Urgh....great..."
The Chief peered around, taking in all the other heroes that were trying to take the thing down. He paused, replaying all that had happened up to this point. So far, it looked like only one option was available, one thing that, hopefully, would work.
"All of you, fall back!" he roared, vaulting over the vans bonnet. "Hold your fire and wait, that thing won't last forever! And you," he added, jerking a metallic digit at the larger heroes in the group, "Come with me..."
With that, the Chief turned, the shine from his metallic body becoming a pure white glow of barely contained power, his fists humming like crazed hornets.
"ENTOR THA'LOS!"
And the shining warrior hurled himself at the Troll...
((Go Unstoppable and build up))
((EDITED: Didnt notice Pious got floored :P woops )) -
One of the hulking Ubertrolls staggered back, a towering metallic form launching itself at the green monstrosity. The Chief hammered away, fsits glowing red from the pent up energy. Once, twice, three times in the stomach, then a punishing blow to the head. Normally that dealt with even the meanest of trolls, but this one simply stood back up, and...
Wolf ducked as the Chief sailed past him, eventually coming to a stop with feet kicking up a trail of sparks.
"Wolf?"
"Yeah?"
"Frag that thing!"
Wolf turned, snapping the safety off of the M30.
"Fire in the hole!"
Still, even a direct hit from a grenade only made the thing stagger. The Chief frowned, metallic brows slowly creasing.
"Alright, tough guy....time to play!"
His voice grew deeper as he spoke, the white and red of his armour seeming to fade, until it was nearly black, and the red had become a bloody crimson. Energy, dark purple like a deep night, oozed from the Chiefs joints.
"Omega?" Wolf said quietly.
The Chief turned, eyes flashing.
"Don't go overboard, alright?" Wolf warned, stepping alongside the looming being, shivering as the warshades aura leaked from the Chiefs body. "We dont want casualties."
"Understood," was the growled reply, the voice trailing off into a sort of low drone. And then the energy erupted, the Chiefs body dissolving into pure anti-matter, coalescing once more as the towering form of a Black Dwarf.
"ENTOR THA'LOS!"
The warcry remained the same, even fully fuelled by Warshade energy. Chief Centurion Omega barreled into the troll, the thing finally going down under a barrage of strength sapping punches and gouts of dark-matter.
The Chief looked up, just as the other Ubertrolls turned... -
If they do incorperate something like the Incarnates, I really doubt that they will be anything on par with Recluse or States. Simply because that then wrecks most of the flavour of the background. If all heroes/villains were that powerful, the world would be reduced to rubble simply by the two sides duking it out.
Much better to leave the Incarnates where they belong, with one at the head of each side, and the odd one doing their own thing (the two that get mentioned in arcs, IIRC) -

This is not about joe the beat cop on patrol. This is about superheroes and villains. Normal humans should not be in the picture except as people who need to be rescued.

So, we're scrapping any Natural who isn't an alien, and the Technology origin?

^ This
This is about Heroes. And Villains.
Heroes: Someone who goes above and beyond either the call of duty or what is expected from them to perform great acts for others.
Villains: Those who do bad or terrible things to further their own diabolical ends.
That by no means exempts normal humans from that. Anyway, what about fictional characters like Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne? Their still only humans, they jsut have all the shniy gear. I see no reason why the classification cant extend to the likes of the two ATs suggested above.
The average joe on the street is just that; someone who cant be bothere or doesnt have the guts to be either good or bad. The two ATs very much fit the idea that people are either stepping up, or jumping off.

Two figures perched on the rooftops of Kings Row, one sighting down the scope of a rifle.
"This looks bad, Chief."
"I know. People are going crazy over this stuff...I say it would be better if we siezed all of it, let some decent scientists have a look at it first. I wouldn't trust something a villain made as far as I could throw 'em..."
"That's quite far, Chief."
The metallic figure of Chief Centurion Z1 sat back on his haunches, chuckling quietly as he looked at the armour clad figure beside him. X21 Ice Wolf, or just Wolf, an old friend and a member of the NHU.
"True. But I wouldnt trust it. I say we get down there and start trying to restore some piece and order," the Chief said, straightening up with a whirr of metallic tendons, various pieces of his robotic body sliding and shifting, wings unfolding from his back, legs switching to a bipedal form, until he stood in the form most often refered to as 'The Avatar'.
Wolf cocked his rifle with a metallic snap, checking that he had a non-lethal magazine loaded.
"Ready."
"Then lets roll."
The Chief launched himself off the rooftop, wings pounding the air. Wolf followed a second later, the rocket boots and jetpack of his suit kicking in. The pair powered down amongst the mob, hammering into the Skulls. Wolf's shots and the blasts of ice from his suits gauntlet pushed the gangers and the crowd apart, while the Chief's energy-bound fists sent any thug that got close spinning into unconsciousness.
((Looks good. Count me in))

What GP said...I loved that thing at Halloween. I jsut wish we could actually play as them, they rock.

They could easily axe Brute pets (as long as this doesn't touch VEATs), Stalker snipes, and Mastermind cone attacks, for example.

Get your mitts off my executioner mace, Krieger! ¬¬
Seriously, I know not everyone likes them, but that *is* the problem. Personally I love the mace blast for my MM, cos it fits thematically and its a useful backup shot.
But yeah, interesting to see what happens. What I'd personally *love* is to have less reliance on the [censored] fitness pool >< -
Rikti raids are not that frequent, except during invasion weeks (like now...) It can sometimes be annoying, yes, but its not like they last that long. And you can always hide under something, or pop a few stragglers for a bit more exp. Exp = good ^^
-
I really, REALLY like the ideas of these so far. Much more 'traditional comicbook' options, even more so than the normal ATs. They just have a ton of character. Yes, numbers might not be perfect (Im not wise on them, but a few looked a bit high on some powers) but its just...well, dunno how to put it, except;

I like the idea
I'd be curious to see how they get around the differences in weapons: riffles and swords are held in the same hand, but point in different directions... a 'look at riffle' mode could very well impale a character on his/her own sword.
Then there's the dual wielding, pistols and claws that have one in each hand.
I think it'd be rather hard to make it happen, but by golly, I hope they do
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, thats a point, Id forgotten the dual wields...Still, it *is* just a suggestion. I have no idea if its implementable or not, I just think it'd be really cool =3 -

Sometimes you just *need* more slots. My blaster is an example. With the five we get, I can have most of the ones that will work;
Fully armoured, no helmet, no helmet and glasses, casuals, casuals and glasses.
Only problem is, I need some that work for armour in SG mode to, as simply turning the colours on really doesnt work.
More slots? Yes Plz thx
And YES to the more VEAT costumes option (although hopefully thats in I13 anyhow) -
I like Lost's suggestion, alongside the OPs suggestion. I know I use the revolver a lot on my stalker, for RP and for missions (The good old run-run-BOOM moments
)
/So signed -
The reason I suggested it was mainly for RP. It alwasy seems daft if you want to show someone your gun/sword/rat-ona-stick and, hitting an attack button to bring out the weapon, looking your about to go on a rampage in D
Not actually possible, thanks to Zero, but hey.
Also, its really irritating having to keep redrawing the weapon, in said situation.
So, to clarify again, something like /e weaponhold, and that has your character stood in an upright stance, simply holding the weapon at ease. And possibly stuff like /e weaponlook, to have the chari examine the weapon.
One of those little things, such as a 'walk' feature and better sits that are purely for looks, but the RP community is near begging for
Just my 2 inf worth, anyhow. -
[ QUOTE ]
Isn't it an issue that having weapons out passively would possibly get rid of the weapon redraw time, which is usually compensated for in other ways (e.g. slightly better accuracy).
If so then introducing passive stances would alter the effective strength of the powersets, possibly requiring slight rebalancing (which some would call nerfing, no doubt).
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, right, this is the problem. People have got me mixed up, possibly becuase I didnt word it right
What I -meant- was, it would be cool if we could have an emote, such as /e weaponhold, that would give us a stance simply holding the weapon the character has, if they have one. A passive stance, like that of any NPC who holds a gun.
Example, in Council missions you see them standing around, cradling weapons, then drawing there *actual* weapons when the fight starts.
Purely emote, really, not aimed to throw a spanner shaped object into the fight works in anyway -

What I'd like to see would be some way of "losing" an invasion - like if there were too few heroes in a zone that was attacked, or if the Rikti managed to defeat a certain number of Heroes.
That would mean the war walls would stay down, the sky would stay green, and there'd be Rikti mobs roaming the zone - sort of like the Supatroll bug, only intentional
Vanguard patrols would then spawn, and they'd either clear out the Rikti on their own, or Heroes could join in too - there'd only be a set number of Rikti mobs in a "captured" zone, but the Vanguard ones would keep respawning, so eventually the zone would be retaken, even if no Heroes got involved at all.
[/ QUOTE ]
This please.
And yes it could affect hunts (including TF/SF ones) - but what the heck do you expect in a world where metahumans, criminal robots and alien invasions are common??? The way invasions clean up at present is a bit too simple, clean and easy.
Mind you I've always thought that there should be ongoing zone spawn effects to show the ebb and flow of criminal gangs as they're hunted/ignored by the players...
[/ QUOTE ]
A very simple way to fix the problems of hiding mobs is to make the Rikti that stay small mobs that hang around. And attack anything. Other mobs included. Im pretty sure the drugged up gangs would love to 'prove' themselves again the Rikti, probably testing out any new gubbins they got their mitts on.
Admittedly, sometimes Invasions are annoying, especially when you are trying to level in, say Atlas, and the whole war is focussed around Ms Liberty (boys, thats happened a few times)
Again, a way to fix would be to spawn Vanguard units at 'key' locations, such as shops, trainers and monorail stations, as, thematically, thats waht VG would do, try and stop the Rikti from locking down the zones key points.
Personally, I would like more 'go either way' things like this. Its part of the character of the game. Yes, its everyones game, but the story behind it should certainly not be ignored.

LRM rockets, Full Auto, bit of body armour probably, scrap the stealth and cash out on all the attacks. Targetting drone, auto-turret, all the explosives.

Agreed. I did ask the trollers to stay away from this thread. In fairness, after I asked that they did. Till
this guy came along.
Sorry but I really do not enjoy being insulted. I still dont think the concept I put forward was stupid. I also conceded that this wasnt a winning idea on these boards ages ago.
Although I now discover that other games are widening the sidekick concept out so maybe I wasnt so off the mark after all.
But yes. Close the thread.
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, sorry, but I find being called 'boy' and 'this guy'' offensive. I would have been perfectly happy to simply accept that as that and wander back to the game. But the way you put it was nothing short of insulting.
I at least wrote out a legible reply. If I was some stupid oik who simply went around spitting on peoples ideas, it wouldnt have read anything like that.
So, sorry, but the comments you aimed at me were insulting. Ergo, my response. As far as I can make out, I left a comment with my opnion on the board. And then I got a sarcastic, insulting reply. Maybe that wasnt the intention, but thats what it read like.
Anyhow. Nuff said, hopefully. -

I got to page fifteen....and gave up.

The OPs various responses suggest that either his signature suggesting he is 'thick' is very accurate, or he just love to think hes right.

I dont expect someone who is so ignorant as to write something like this to understand what I was getting at or why I was getting at it.
Bye bye little man. Or, more likely judging by the writing, boy.
[/ QUOTE ]
Alright, that does it, you scummy, stuck up, self centered little troll.
First off, you idiot, if you dont want people calling you thick, why in gods name do you have it in your signature, STATING that you are?
Second off, im as much entitled to my opinion as you, and I at least have the good grace to respect other peoples opnions and not just instantly jump to conclusions. I read through this trail of absolute [censored], to see if there was any redeeming feautres, THEN made a judgement on what I had read.
THIRDLY, if your going to insult someone, oh dear LORD, do the decent thing first and learn to speak english coherently, and to type/write it in a fashion that MAKES SENSE! You have sentances that lack any form of punctuation, and indeed meaning. You blather on, contradicting yourself over and over! You first said 'Do away with sidekicks', then changed it to 'Change it' and then, best of all 'I think this is pants, the game should be like this.'
And yes, that is paraphrasing somewhat. And I BET you wont even read that, because you will simply go 'This person disagrees with me, therefor they are stupid.' And THAT, mate, is my view of you, based on all the utter TRIPE that you have spouted on this thread. You have been rude, uncouth, arrogant and a general damnable [censored]!
All that and, yes, im seventeen. And I speak the damn lingo a helluva lot better than you do. Stick THAT in your pipe and smoke it! Cretin...
I suggest that someone gets this thread locked. Unless people want to talk to the flameb...sorry, the OP. -
Crossbow... likes Crossbow. Thats a neat idea right there.

If you want to PVP a Blaster, namely an AR sniper type, I would definitely go for tough and weave from the fighting set. Stealth and Invisibility give you the jump on most ATs as well. Body armour from the munitions epic should be useful too, as would the rocket launcher.
Im still working on my own blasters, seeing as I've been blitzing my main characters. Just my 2 inf worth :P -
Yeah, I NEVER understand that one...Seriously, any idea? O.o
