I think that sums up the thread, really...

I'd all be for more anthromorph animal faces with options for hair, face details, hats etc, though. Because, y'know, that was a major let-down...

Well, wasn't that charming and polite.

I think this idea has merit. Some salvage, particularly low level stuff, is nigh never used, while the high level stuff is both high price and high demand. And not always high in stock. Consolidating the salvage into smaller groups would mean that more would likely be in stock at any given time. I guess *shrug*

    Yeah, I want that.
Ditto this. And the non-glow glove option. And that damn Vanguard back detail that should have been in the CC months ago

Yeah, OP? Why are you playing redside if you hate it? There are words for that kind of thing, you know...

Pfft, really? Other content doesn't have my minions disappear in one or two hits, doesn't neuter my entire IO Def build to the point I might as well have not bothered, and doesn't actively penalise me for having my pets in bodyguard mode (Still looking at you, Keyes)

It doesn't help that the pet A.I. is so damn screwy, and has been for ages now. There is a reason that I never play Alpha anymore; it's more chore than fun, getting things to work the way they SHOULD, not the way they decide they want to go today.

Apparently. I never have problems teaming redside, mostly because the groups I hang with on Union play both sides, along with having a few SGs there so...
Yeah, this whole 'omg redside is dead!' has been a myth since forever. And it's still not true. Sorry.
  10. Pretty much what OV said.
Virtue-ites seem to prefer their own personal or small group continuities. i.e. Hero X is the one who stopped Wade-laruu, or beat up Recluse, etc etc.

Union sticks pretty closely to the 'Unionverse' continuity, where player events and timelines inter-cross and are considered Union canon. For example, the build up of Mots power in DA recently, and what happened to certain characters.

While it's perfectly feasible to have your character run into big-name NPCs and fight and win, etc, there is never 'Hero X who beat Vahzilok for good'. So, in Unionverse Frostfire is now reformed (as he is in later tip missions), Hero One is back with Vanguard and recovering, Mot has been bound for good by the Dream Doctor (although DA is still a mess, understandably)

So....yeah, pretty sure Virtue is still doing what it does. Just Union RP is more noticeable on the forums, for the most part

In RP? Yeah, that doesn't happen. Or, at least, the people trying it get laughed out of the area

A well written TF/SF and/or trial with some epic looking characters is what I am asking for. Where are the cool looking super villain or super group types...something like the Avengers, x_men, Brotherhood of evil mutants...all memorable, cool looking supers. This game has some but add to the rogues gallery with some cool adds.

I have NO desire to see any additional material featuring Goldbrickers, Luddites, Igneous, Scrapyarders and Dockworkers, Golems... If you think that is where my post was going then I apologize because I do not find any of these NPCs unique, epic or compelling.

Well good for you. Other people do. I don't get where people come up with this 'doesn't feel super-hero-y' junk. Because pretty much *anything* goes in a super hero context. We wouldn't have such wonderfully laughable B-listers if that wasn't true.

Those groups already have grounding in lore and plenty of room for stories to be told, not to mention the other main groups. Like the Tsoo-Family drug wars and the rivalry between the Skulls and Hellions that never really gets any time or closure.

There's already a metric butt-ton of groups that barely get any show time as it is. Goldbrickers, Luddites, Igneous, Scrapyarders and Dockworkers, Golems...

There's so much could be done with the existing mobs. I'd rather see decent writing and decent arcs than new 'flavour of the month' stuff slung in for no good reason.

That's a really, really horrible idea, and it's been covered completely already.

You can't respec origin. Ergo, making anything new origin specific, while also stupid from a numbers/mechanics point of view is also going to hack off a bunch of people for any number of reasons.

Origin is fine the way it is.
  15. Ech...relatives or offspring of canon characters are always horrible ideas -_-

And for those wondering: Yes; I AM making a statement by posting in every thread related to leaked content.
I don't see why it's such a 'big' problem. So people get to talk and come up with new concepts. Big freaking whoop. It's not like the world is about to end. In fact, if a really, stupidly bad idea gets leaked early from Beta, then maybe there might even be enough time to get it changed.

    C'est la vie? *shrug*

Why? They've been owed the damn things for so long now. I've yet to see a NON half-backsided reason for them not having them. If it's 'theme' then it's a bit late for that; a large number of people play the characters as non Arachnos affiliates anyway, so...
  19. I thought they changed it so that Dropships were now nigh impossible to kill?
Although, given Incarnates these days...hm *shrug*
  20. No.
    Why?

Because SoAs should have ALL the Assault rifle models! Really, there is NO decent excuse for this. /Signed

What character deaths do is add drama, but a story first needs to deserve this drama, and the SSAs failed to do this in a spectacular fashion.
This is where we're going to have to differ in our opinions on the game (again )
Because, irrespective of 'grimdark'ness or whatnot of the new content, I vastly prefer it to the old junk we had before, because it is actually a cohegent and interactive enough story to engross me and for me to like.

You can argue as much as you like (I'm sure you will, hee) that the old stuff had some absolute gems in it. That's as may be. It's also irrelevant if the old content was so mind-achingly, gum-rendingly dull as to make me never want to touch it again.

Also, character deaths should be treated like a precious commodity, and not because you can run out of characters - you can always just make more. No, character deaths should be treated like a precious commodity because they lose their impact the more you use them. The trick grows old, audiences grow cynical and people grow to expect it. Though a horrible thing to say about the real world, Stalin's famous line is very much true for fictional worlds: A single death is a tragedy. A million deaths is a statistic. Contemporary writing is pretty much on the verge of making signature character deaths trite and mundane, and that's just bad all around.
This, however, we are in full agreement on.

My point is though that we really don't need all this death, not for the writing to be good anyway. There is no need for CoH to turn into this dark, gritty mess for it to be a good game. I get that They are trying to change things up a little, but there are better ways to do it.

As an added note... I was really pissed off that Sister Psyche died, if not for after all that stuff I went through in SSA4, but the fact that she was actually one of my favorite and more interesting characters in the game. That definitely sits on the "WTF" shelf.
I think everyone was a bit WTF with that, mostly because it was so badly written, relied so much on holding of the idiot ball, and felt so callously tacked on.
  23. Eh, it's too early and I've not eaten yet.

So I'll simply say I much prefer the current trend of writing (idiot-balling of the SSA aside, that was just poor...) and suchnot to what came before. It's telling that I can remember pretty much all the new arcs pretty well, while most of the old arcs just turn into an un-cared for slurry of defeat all, fed-ex and glowy missions that sucked big time. YMMV.
