  1. Oh doesn't it just....just another thing that's been broken since AE came out and never got fixed... >_<

Eh, slight difference between the two, and by slight I mean a lot.

Costumes just require time and manpower.
Base stuff requires digging around in 8 year old Fossil Code that could break at a moments notice.

There's a reason Devs don't touch Bases much.

But personally I already find this game too easy so maybe another level of difficulty could be added to the defeat - optional of course - that allows you to decide how "badly" beaten you are and the ramifications of that. Maybe there could be a trade off with greater rewards, XP or shards etc.

On the other hand it's adding a whole extra few levels of complexity to the game that could take up an awful lot of resource for limited benefit, so I won't be holding my breath
Uh....people do realise that all he's talking about is the emote on Defeat, not the difficulty level, right?

With a Bots/Traps it's nearly impossible to 'afk' yourself through a mission. Believe me, I try controlling them. They just don't want to know about this 'ranged' malarky, when they clearly want nothing more than to punch ALL the EBs and AVs in the face.

Also, I let 'em die and resummon... no fretting over their 'death.'

Speed runs love my pets because they clean up the stragglers or rezzers for kill-alls while the Brutes forge ahead. Or, I'm sending pets to the next spawn ahead of the group.

    Lambda? I solo crates.

But I can see how people who don't like playing a defender don't like MMs. On my MMs, I feel like a Defender with my own team of death.

Oh, and the crazy agroing of pets trials with 'Bosses' is fixed in a patch on Beta. Coming 'soon' to Live.
See, the thing is I LOVE my Emp/Psi defender. With her, I can turn the entire team into walking, stompy death machines that nearly never die. I can make blasters fire nukes and then keep on trucking, because Adrenaline Boost negates the Nukes -rec. I can make Scrappers and Stalkers as tough as a Tank. I can stop squishies getting mezzed.

My MM doesn't feel that good. If anything, I feel like a damn liability, because my Primary set is only doing what it's meant to be doing 50% of the time, if that. I don't have *any* control over where and when my Assault Bot uses his missiles, or when my Protectors use their seeker drones and healing ray. For a set that is all about 'control'...MM's still actually have very little. Even less than they are meant to, given the state of pet A.I. Which annoys the bolts out of me...

Yeah, have to say this AT really ought to have an IQ test attached before you can roll one. The only thing worse than a careless MM is a careless Stormy - and don't get me started on THEM.
    Coming in late, but still.

Have YOu tried to heel those damn things in? There is one very simple reason I no longer play my level 50 MM; the pet A.I. is TERRIBLE. Crap. Pants on head. Stupid. Brain-dead. HURRR DURRRR DE-DUUURRRRP.

It has nothing to do with willingness and IQ...on the part of the player, for the most part. It's the pets who are utterly damn mental. And when they are your supposed Primary and are unreliable? Yup...stops being fun. THAT is why I stopped playing.

Giving a Beast/Time MM a bit of a go, though. Maybe having melee only will stop the terribad A.I. handling that Bots suffered from (Gotta punch ALL the AVs in the face, yo!)
  8. If they are retconning him out, I fully support it. PraetFernal just made things a complicated mess that didn't get helped by the shoddy writing back then, or the 'alt-dimension of an alt-dimension' stuff we then run into. Not to mention the previous Goatee-verse of Praetoria.

    Leave him out, I say.

Also, it's really easy to say "just fix the bugs", but a prerequisite to that is actually knowing how to fix them, which is not near as easy as people seem to think it is, especially in the spaghetti mess of code that the game has become over 8 years. Sometimes trying to fix something that's pretty horribly broken only makes it even worse, so it's definitely not trivial to get that done while continuing to put out new content so the playerbase doesn't get bored and move on to a game that's actually making new content.
When there are bugs and, hell, *typos* that have been around since near Issue 1, I don't think it's unreasonable to say 'So, when is this getting fixed again?' Heck, get some of the players to compile a list of all the typos (if someone hasn't already...) and then run through them during one week. I simply cannot believe that typo fixing is THAT hard, seriously.

As for the whole 'no new content' thing, this is the problem. The Devs are rock-grounded in this mindset that they NEED new shinies....when Revamping IS new content. Look at the Atlas and DA revamps. Sling out old junk that nearly no one ever plays (nearly, I know, get off my case) and add in new stuff; revamp!
My point is that it should not still be possible to run all the new stuff...and then wind up getting the contacts in Kings and Steel who send you on elventy-one Fed-Ex, Security Chief and hunt missions. That kind of disconnect is jarring and bad for the game as a whole.

    This, really.

My old analogy time; you can slap as many fenders, spoilers and shiny new paintjobs on your cars cool new bodywork...
But it won't matter one jot if the engine is old and chuggy and the chassis is falling apart from rust.

That is quite the amazing feat of mental contortion!
It's honestly not that hard to 'get'.

It's the same old mentality that has been around forever; that 'New shiny!' is always better than 'Revamp', to the point that everything is ALL 'New Shiny' when some 'revamp' of the old junk would actually be hugely appreciated. Y'know, bug fixes, culling out pointless filler content and replacing it with actual story arcs, cleaning up the mess that is I0-1 content, etc etc. Revamping parts of the costume creator and it's UI...

Streamlining, basically. Rather than a hyper-active squirrel-dance from new fad to new fad.
  12. Aside from the fact that the 'security question' confirmation is STILL not working right for someone in the EU (I.e. I have to do it every god damned time...) have NC stopped letting people use Visa Debit cards for their accounts? I tried entering my new one in, and it told me 'the number you have entered is invalid for that card type'.

I had 'Visa' selected, so does that only work for Credit Cards, and not Debit Cards? Come of us still have them, you know!
NCSoft; the only company I know that makes it HARD to give them money -_-
  13. I've never been any good with DPS, EPS and EPA and all that...I only know the acronyms ^^;
Ok, will make a few more changes then. Ta.

Start by making debt on the street the same as Instances, then.

(No, I'm not trolling with that, I don't give a [WOO-HA!] if you think debt is now irrelevant and all that old [HONK!]. Having different debt values inside and out is stupid, end of.)
  16. Hmn, edited my build a bit now, chopped out the more expensive DA auras, put CoD in at a later level and added more end red to the AoEs.

How much difference, in reality, does -1 end cost really make?

*Large Robotic gloves: Eight years after the fact, Large Robotic are still by far the game's largest gloves and the only ones that are big and round. They don't clip at the hand, they look pretty good and I'd like to see more gloves of that nature.

*Medieval shoulders: Eight years later, these are one of, um... Two or three sets of large shoulders and the only one with this particular "shoulders" form. The Olympian Guard shoulders are a great step in the right direction, but we need more large, bulky round shoulders,

*Large boots and gloves: This is an old idea - a static model that can have all the existing textures used on it. We can use a few more of those, I think, since it only really requires one mesh, but makes for a whole host of different items. They're not GREAT, but they're very versatile.

*Medieval helmets: These have had nothing new added to them since 2004. I'd really like to see a bunch of new helmets, beak helmet, for instance, as well as a bunch more fantasy-looking helmets. There's room for more.

*Glam hair: The female Glam hairdo is amazing, and we need more like it, both for men and for women. I get that this works VERY poorly with back details, but we can just not use back details with it. More very long hairs would be welcome.

*Horns: I don't really recall seeing any new horns for a long while. I guess the Organic Armour "horn crown" counts, but we can do more, I'm sure of it.

*Tails: We haven't had a new one in ages. I mentioned these, but allow me to mention them again - TAILS. Robotic tails are a big thing, and larger versions of the old ones would also be welcome.

*Stealth/ExoProto boots: These look like bare feet with socks pulled over them. See also: Zombie Feet. These are ten times better than the "bare" texture for the flat boot foot. These are not bare feet, they're boots with toes painted on them. We need a better bare foot model that looks like a bare foot, and the mesh for it already exists in the game.

*Large gloves -> Wrapper: These are what I like to call "man hands. Large gloves in general have a much thicker, larger hand, and with the Wrapped gloves, we have a skin hand that simply has big fingers. I'd like to see a hand option which gives us a hand this big without it being wrapped up in a glove.

That's all I can think of at the moment.
    /Signed for all of those.

You have NO idea how ticked off I was to find that we got some piddly, anorexic little glove that NO NPCs use, rather than the big, awesome gloves the PPD and TEST get. That should have been in 'Large Robotic' without a first thought

All the hair needs an HD overhaul, really. There are SO few good hairs, especially for Males, and faces are twice as bad.

Circle of Thorns is a mixed bag - I enjoy the set for my own, but I like the look of the old CoT far better when they looked like wizards in robes as opposed to coral reefs on legs.

David Nakayama made the right call when he decided against "upgrading" old costume pieces and completely dumping the old ones. I know the Techbot is gung ho about "fix the old stuff" but I seem to recall him being one of the most vocal opponents of more reflective metal pieces to replace the old matte ones. I wouldn't mind seeing up-rezzed versions of old costume pieces, but I WOULD NOT want to, say, lose Tech Wired to something that's called Tech Wired but is shiny and reflective and completely different.

Add, don't replace. We even have a toggle now that hides costume pieces that match a certain criteria. If clutter or ungainliness is a problem, add a toggle to hide "old stuff." However, I will never agree that something I like be taken out of the game because someone else things it makes the game uglier. It's my call.
We agree on this, at least. Sure, don't get RID of anything. That's just stupid. But, frankly, the Costume Creator lists are a gorramn MESS as of right now. NONE of them are in proper alphabetic order.

We need a 'Legacy' drop-down for all parts, and to sling all the current old parts in their. Then have updated versions in the main list.

As for metal stuff, I REALLY wish they could do a 'matte' and 'shiny' option. Sometimes I don't WANT everything metal to be perfectly shiny. I mean, christ, has no one heard of paint? Or Matte paint? Or dulled metal? It takes the mick after a while...

But the legacy costume parts are starting to look so dated it hurts.

    Have three options;

    1) Resistance. This has the Resistance blue stripe baked in
    2) Rune Soldier. As the above, with the orange stripe instead
    3) Off. The glow-line is baked in as black.

Honestly, I've wanted 'Resistance Default' for the Resistance armour from day one. Not being able to duplicate that colour is a real gorramn pain -_-
