What was so bad about the Alpha system? Why was being able to do anything in game and make progress so bad?
The Alpha system *worked*. There was no need to restrict the *entire* future progress to two insanely grindy tasks.
Oh, and it also meant people who were trying to level alts could still get progress. And level with friends. Y'know, the main selling point of this game for many years? -
Luminary;
Now:

Proposed:

Pleased with this one. No shopping needed. And I managed to only use two Praet pieces, simply because they look much nicer than old pieces. And, c'mon, she should have a more humanoid face by now. -
Ms. Liberty;
Now:

Proposed;

More photoshopping was needed, boots and gloves looked better on PS. Basically the Justice gloves and boots but with three colours, or something that matches her shoulder plate and belt.
I mean, really Libby? Doing martial arts in nothing but a skirt? Not exactly...y'know...dignified? Worthy of respect? And you wonder why no one takes you seriously....eesh. -
I can't change the thread, but I figured, hey, may as well try and do some more.
So far, Sister Psyche;
In Game;

Which...looks nothing like her actual character renders!

And the other which I think should be the new official model for her;

So, I went into CC and, guess what? The reason she looks so bad is due to using base-pieces only. You can't *make* that two tone top. So I had to photoshop it.

Not 100% happy with it, I didn't fix the waist from default size and the green's wrong, but at least it's a *bit* closer to her proper look. Honestly, I'd much rather she got given a fully unique model. I mean, hello? Anyone taken a look at Mirror Spirit lately? The tech to make them look good IS in game. It's totally possible; so why not do it? Whats the logic behind not doing it? I'm willing to bet there isn't any! -
I think you'd be preeetty hard pressed to find anyone who thinks any of the Phalanx, bar States, Positron and Manticore, don't need a re-haul. And even they could use an HD render pass.
-
Quote:And, oh look; they then changed that to Reward Merits, so you could run nearly any content and still work on reward rolls. I mean, shock horror, you could even SOLO and still get merits drop.*remembers the days of a lot of people grinding the ITF in a speed run to get those TF recipe drops*
I like trials because to me they're fun and a good laugh with the team
Trials run in entirely the opposite direction, and that is not a good thing. More choice > Less choice. Alpha slot > Thread slots -
Right. After all, it's not like theres only 2-3 three things in the whole game that allow us to get anything for the new powers, so-Quote:So stop doing them. You did know that it's supposed to take a long time to get up the new ranks, right? That you're not supposed to do the trials to the exclusion of everything else?
Oh, wait.
That 'arguement' is unreasonable, no matter how many times you tout it. -
Heck, I'd do it for free, just because I can't stand looking at some of the old contacts/trainers...Luminary, anyone?
-
Because she looks awful. Really.
Old and then new;

Quote:One of UsThis, exactly.
I used to only do missions for contacts when I could be sure of filling their bar before outleveling them. Ideally, then, I'd have nothing but (completely) full or empty bars on my list. It didn't always work out that way, and I was glad when the new contact sorting came in and shuffled all my past contacts off into another tab where I don't have to look at them.
And yes, I also sort my inspiration tray. And sometimes my enhancement tray. And, of course, slotted enhancements. Which I prefer, when possible, to be all the same level. *twitch*

Quote:I wish the 'dying' VG soldier in the last mission of the LGTF would either 1) Get mediported out already, 2) Hurry up and die, or 3) SHUT UP!It's even more funny that he asks to see your papers on your way out.
NPCs that speak out to you need to be used VERY sparingly, because they're horribly annoying, and get old really fast. On the other hand, though, they do make for some interesting comedy when they point out names of players I'd never have noticed since I don't play attention. "Hey, Walks Like a Duck! I need to tell you about Recluse's Victory!"
He spams the entire map with his same lines over, and over, and over and OVER! It's....augh! My Nictus woulda put him out of his misery and, hey, he'd have had a second shot at the Rikti that way! But nooo...

I'm pretty sure the reason they were seperate anyways was because there was no way to demarcate where the 'recharge on owner' ended and 'recharge on pet' began. The various horribly glitchy and annoying pet-bugs that came up (Bruiser using nothing but Hurl, Assault Bot spamming flamer, etc) ended up in them recharge locking all pets and the powers.
I'm very likely wrong, but I do remember pets+recharge being there before and issues with it.
Personally, I'd rather just see more pet IO sets. -
Quote:Ok, Matt, when did YOU sell your soul to the MMO Grind Gods?
"It does need to be difficult. It does need to be hard. But it really needs to be a time reward mentality. How much time is invested, of yours, should determine the reward you get out of it. The more time, the better reward, right? Because your time is valuable."
Because while the risk/reward mantra has always been true, and justifiably so, the above just reads of...well, heck if I know. Market spiel, most likely...
...This actually makes me annoyed. Really. Because there is a LOT of stuff that's been flat out ignored, and you know it...Quote:"I wanted to make our game better. I wanted to listen to our players. What were our players asking for?"
Nate gives me hope, though;
Actual revamping? Finally? Dare I even dare to anticipate we'll finally see the old, terrible quality blueside stuff fixed to Post-GR levels? Will we finally see mobs re-done in HD?Quote:"We want to be a game that's constantly growing, and the more time we spend re-doing old content is growth in a maybe more spiritual sense."
I hope so... -
^ I honestly cannot agree with this...enough.
Have you guys listened to ANY of the dislike for the current incarnate system? Or, rather, the dislike that came after the alpha slot? Because the alpha slot WORKED. It worked very very well. And then came the Trail grinding... -

Quote:Not quite. The OP is suggesting that the ATs Primary be like a Hunstman/Kheld build, i.e. ranged AND armour in one set, and the Secondary be a melee/buff combination.What's more, the Arachnos Soldier already gets this, as well as a few other neat tricks. Just build a Huntsman.
Be Well!
Fireheart
So, ranged/armour/melee/buff all in one. Which...well, is impossible to balance. -
Wish I could work in the Video Game industry half my life

Quote:Yeah, Bayformers Prime had a real mean streak in him...Though not quite as badass or as psychotic as...
GIVE ME YOUR FACE!!!
Mind you, he's always been a badass. Singlehandedly totally a quarter of the Decepticons invading Autobot City in the 86 Movie? And then only not beating the bolts out of Megatron because Hotrod got in the way? -
Quote:I guess all those SFs and teams on Union must have been a figment of my imagination th-Yes it is dead. When GR went live many of the "red-only" players went Rogue so they could team with the more active and team-friendly blue-side. People still go red but only for a specific purpose.
Oh, wait. -
Quote:^ ThisI don't feel that the two are analogous. If you stop paying for a service, why should resources (any resources, including names!) be withheld from actual paying customers in case you decide to return? Not quite the same thing as breaking into someone's house and stealing their possessions. That said, I understand that people get possessive about their names; if that's the case, they shouldn't let their sub lapse.

Before switching primarily to Chrome, this happened just as often on IE8/9 (whichever it was)
It seems to happen irrespective of browser. -
Quote:Give yourself a pat on the back. Oh, and here's a +1 InternetsPowers:
- Turn red.
- Turn others red.
- Group Redness.
- Slight blush.
- Rose-Colored Glasses (everyone sees the map as red.)
- Scarlettify.
- Summon Baron. (Small red triplane starts flying around, short lived gun-drone.)
- School of Salmon (Like school of sharks, but fewer teeth and more redness.)
- Comrades! (Everyone shares everything while spouting Marxist quotes.)
