Quote:Because failing thanks to pants on head spack-tarded A.I. that loves to go rambo is ALWAYS fun.Maybe I'm evil, but I say, keep 'em fail-able, and if they fail...so does the TF. The end. No rewards. Too bad, you suck. Insert coin and try again. Also, ideally, they should change the TF in this way, but not say so in the patch notes when they go live with it.
No. *Hell* no. -
Seven years of content that was all viable for the Alpha slot.
Why was that not the case for the other slots? Why, specifically, gate all meaningful progress to only three things in the entire game?
Edit: See above, Steel Shaman's post is a very good one. -
Quote:Nope, she's normal size. This will sound bad, but your Valk... is tech fat. She's horribly nano-tech obese. I like your Sister Psyche from the waist up, if that helps :P
--Correction, I hate her face.
Look at the 'default' for the female body scaler. Look at the waist.
Now, go find me a very athletic or fit woman with a waist that insanely thin? Thats not thin, thats called Anorexic. Valkyire is a girl who wears a full suit of armour (Which in itself is part of the bulk) and wields a damn big sword one handed like its nothing. She's going tp have some muscle on her.
Not look like a dman stick insiect in tin foil >_>
And yes, Psyche's face I couldn't get to look right. She needs a unique render. They all do. -
Because, while the Alpha system wasn't always ideal (those shard drops are mean when the RNG is in a bad mood...), it was a helluva lot better than 'Grind X over and over again. No, you cannot do Y, or Z. You can do X. And you will like it.'

Quote:So? They are still very much considered 'alien'. Heck, foreigners on this planet are called 'aliens', usually in legal and judicial terms and such not, but it's still there. The Rikti are, whatever else, a technology advanced and vastly different culture from that of Prime Earth. They are alien. And, good point. We already have the Kheldians and Battalion in canon. Why bother introducing, say, the Martian Mervins and simply clogging up lore more, when you have two perfectly good groups crying out for more back story and development?intersting analogy with the aliens and rikti because, since rikti are not actually space aliens but actually humans from another dimension, thus inappropriate for the role of an antagonist for a space faring or alien character. the tsoo, while cool, dont fit a lot of back-stories of heroes from different asian backgrounds. also, we have at least 2 more alien groups in the game, kheldians and battalion, im not seeing a huge disconnect there, nor even how one could happen.
No. Just HELL no. There are still non level 50s, you know. Not everything needs to be tied in with the bloody well and all that crap.Quote:I also disagree that you need to either exclusively detail an existing group or add a new group, one could easily introduce this faction either through oroboros and link them to the coming storm, incarnates,
Sure? That works. But I see no connection there between choosing Japanese over Vietnamese. In fact, that's a perfectly good reason to NOT add anything in the form of a new group, and instead focus on the ones we have.Quote:or another historical nictus to flesh out existing stories, or they could add them as an antagonist to the tsoo in the modern setting to give us a more fleshed out story for the tsoo and perhaps justify them being active at higher levels, as they have to add new forces, both human and supernatural, to deal with the encroaching influence of these new guys.
Name one other group, barring the DE and Arachnos, that has a themed zone made for them?Quote:While the tsoo may be an Asian group, i think you understand that there is a great deal more that could be done with the legendary creatures and characters from such a large and culturally diverse area than is currently being done with a medium level group with no larger story implications, tfs or themed zones.
Hollows doesn't count as its a mish-mash of Trolls, Outcasts, Igneous and CoT. Faultline doesn't count because it's a four way scrap between LB, Arachnos, Lost and Raiders.
Making a themed zone? No problem, great idea. Making a themed zone about something that has no grounding in-game, no mobs to its name and no decent reason to exist? No. There are other groups that could be focussed on that would tie in fine and be just as interesting, if not more so. -
Quote:Well, if someone can get me a hacked copy of the Dev's tools, some 3D software and a years worth of snacks, by all means I could likely do something a bit more unique. Going with what I got here, sheeshI like Angelxman81's Lum and Synapse, and OminousVoice's Valk. Going to be nice and not mention what I think of all the other submissions :P
I'd love for the devs to update old npc's, but I really don't want them to use costumer creations. I just don't want to fight/talk to a npc and think "Oh, there's so-and-so-forum goer's idea".
-
It makes NO sense for the Psi Clock to attack Penny. It's, like...hello? She's the ENTIRE reason for them being there.
I agree with the second part, too. Heck, I'm sure someone carries a spare med-tag or two. And I'm sure Infernia and Glacia would rather have a last hoo-rah at beating Dra'Gons face in before going back for RnR. It'd also make the mission much more fun.

Quote:So, after about four-five years in game, lets do a compare;I find it funny that people are still equating "grindy" with just gathering loot or end game content. The entire game can be a grind, especially for people with alt-itis, since they're doing the same content more often.
You can't pick and choose what the definition of Grind is to suit your preferences. People have been grinding levels for 7+ years, grinding badges, grinding for unlockable costume pieces, grinding, grinding, grinding, way before Incarnates showed up.
-Two columns worth of alts, and I STILL haven't finished all the redside and blueside content. I still run into contacts and go 'Wait, who the hell are you? Oooo!'
Versus
-Two/Three Trials. The three, exact same missions, over and over and over and over again with no alternative means. You want any power above Alpha? You have to do trials.
No, picking up shards through other content is NOT an alternative method, because the shard-thread conversion rates are unrealistic and doubly grindy, given how you need 4/5 times as many threads per component as you would shards, and shards drop less than threads do.
I can also do game-mission any manner of different ways. I can ghost them, I can ignore parts and clear others, I can go cackling like a maniac through killing everything, or I can take my time picking off mob by mob to make sure my squishy doesnt fall over. I can do everything as I choose, when I choose, how I choose.
There is no such choice on trials. You do it the certain way, and you do it within the time limit. Or you fail. -
Quote:Last time I looked (I.E. last time I saw Arcana talk about it) Tip mish DE were getting 65% base acc instead of 50%. 65% is also the standard for all Praet mobs, wether 1-20 or 54+Citation needed. Some spawns, like some of the DE in the tip missions, have been given higher base tohit. There appear to be some enemies that are getting tohit buffs in Praetoria. This changes nothing for all the rest of the content.
The only way to fix the "everybody gets SR levels of defense" issue is to fix the bonuses coming out of IOs. What have they done there? Added more by giving some typed where positional was granted, gave positional where typed was granted and nerfed BotZ.
That's not a fix.
This really, really shreds lowbies something fierce. Not to mention the increased number of attacks they have in relation to Primal mobs, more exotic damage types, and a plethora of debuffs.
The fault is, indeed, with IOs, though. Cranking up the mobs just penalises those who don't use IO, something that was claimed was NEVER going to happen. (Its even an in-game Tip) -
I can't change the title, otherwise I would have

I'm not personally a fan of Valkyrie using the Valk armour, as contrary as that sounds. It just looks too...well, for one it's stupidly easily to mimic. And Battle Maiden also uses it. So, having them be exact cookie-cutter clones kinda feels wrong for two distinct characters, especially since GR moved away from that.
Synapse actually looks quite decent as he is, except for needing higher quality textures. Luminary also should have unique parts, not just Praet Clockwork parts. It feels like a really quick cheat, when by rights she should look totally distinct from anything Praetorian (she came first, after all)
Your proposed Swan looks damn nice, though. Curren Swan just....ech. Yeah XD -

Quote:Uuh...Man you can't change her looks, it's like Asking to Changing Super Man Outfit, or Spider Man or Captain America outfit, you can away Update the outfit and use more Enhance Graphics and Programming to make her outfit look new but carry that same look. I rather not see a redesign just use better tech to make that outfit pop up better.
Iron Man:
Then;

Now;

That's NOT just 'enhanced graphics', thats a full re-design and upgrade. For the better, might I add. This isn't the 50s anymore (unless your character is from there, and thats totally understandable)
Theres no point making an outfit 'pop out' more if said outfit is hideously outdated from the start. -
Quote:Also, I myself have thought Statesman could use a slight touch up, I've always thought he might due a bit better with some boots, gloves, and a full Spartan helmet to better capture his "Grecophilia" as well as the concept that he's kind of an old soldier.
It's enough that I would also like to see him with a shield to match but that's just me. (I mean he's the leader of the Freedom Phalanx)Eh, States costume is pretty much ok, I think. He's a creature of habit, and the CG renders look great.Quote:I think the only nitpicks I have with Statesman's costume is that his cape looks tacked on and unnecessary, and the mask thing has always looked stupid. Remove the cape and put on a real helmet and I'd like it.
In game, all he really needs is higher quality textures and a re-render. And, yeah, him and Tyrant could both use full helmets like Imperious. It'd be safer, too. -
Quote:Believe me, I tried to avoid themMy only issue here is the use of the Clockwork Chest... I don't think it applies since she is not from, nor has a connection to, Praetoria.
this is why Luminary only has two, and thats purely because they had the best fits.
The Valkyrie chest plate looks blah. So does Cyborg 1. Cyborg 2 glitches horrible on females, even with the chest as far left as possible, and gives them a HUGE rack. Did not want.
Ideally? Unique costume parts. Sadly, I can't do them

Quote:Yeah, the Valk belt didn't fit right. I wanted to stay close to it looking like a functional suit of tech armour, since that's what she's meant to be wearing re: her own bio.Techbot's Valkyrie is amazing. (And you used the Valkyrie boots, but why not the Valkyrie belt? Did it end up looking bad?) Also, don't change the shoulders to Valkyrie "just because" (re:LittleDavid/Valkyrie set) - I like what you chose! Only change it if it actually looks better.
Libby was tough. I honestly think she could use a professional look at, cos gods knows I ain't. I'm not outta Uni yet XDQuote:I'm not sure changing the gloves really does anything for Ms. Liberty. She may need a more extensive redesign.
Nightstar is very epic. Thing is, I wanted to use robot parts while specifically avoiding using Praet Clockwork parts. The face, however, fits IMO. Both her and Citadel are patterned off people, are sentient and try to fit in with humans. They want to be able to put people at ease. The cyborg faceplate and jaw on a female model jsut look ugly as hell (IMO) which doesn't fit for Lumi.Quote:Techbot's Luminary is better, but still falls short of the new Nightstar. I'm not sure she should use a proper human-looking face. Maybe the cyborg faceplate and jaw would be better, if it can work with that helmet?
Again, fully custom-job would be the way forward.
Second CGI render of Chalice. Forget metal, make it soQuote:Love Hercules' Sister Psyche. She doesn't need to be showing off skin to look good! And using a metallic base made it awesome.
Every time I think I know what the costume creator is capable of, someone takes it to the next level!
-
Quote:Uuh...Heck, Valkyrie should wear the Valkyrie costume set!
I mean, Battle Maiden at least uses some of it.
Battle Maiden wears ALL of it

Which, honestly, looks a little boring too. The helmet also looks wrong (and she's bald?) but, hey, at least she looks HD now. -
-
Quote:I guessed as muchI like Luminary's costume...
EDIT: The old one, that is. Not too big on your redesign of her. The one by Hercules looks OK, but reminds me too much of IVy.
Really, though, she looks like something terrible from the era of Robby the robot and tin-foil costumes. She and Citadel are meant to be some of the most advanced robots/android+gynoid on Primal Earth. So, they should either look human while having robotic parts showing in combat mode (Terminator style androids) or at the very least look cutting edge.
My reasoning to picking what I did was to try not to use Praetorian parts. I gave in on the face because it's the ONLY good robot female face (well, that whole selection are) and the legs because the cyborg ones look a bit too clunky, tech-wired is too dated and too like Positron, and none of the others fitted. I also didn't give her hair etc to keep her a close to the original as possible while still being an upgrade. -
Quote:I'd love to know where you get your information from.please read my post on the first page.
This was not a test of any "new holster" technology.
Maelstrom has functional holsters because the devs control EVERY MOVE HE WILL EVER MAKE.
Maelstrom's holsters were not a test for implementing holstered weapons on a large-scale. They are a custom one-off set of animations specifically built to the actions Maelstrom can take, and are only available on Maelstrom's frame with his body build and exact costume parts.
Y'know, instead of making comments worthy of Golden Girl making it sound like you are clearly right and everyone else is obviously a moron. -
Time seems to have vanished, as does my ability to write anything decent -_-
Real life has required organising and shopping and trying to work out how on earth one is meant to start a BT account without having a BT account (spiral logic, dont ask)
So, it looks like that journal won't be happening Bun hun

Quote:^ Can't really disagree. Then they could actually listen to the feedback from the PvPers, who by all accounts did a pretty good job of drawing up a large draft of changes before 13 steamrollered them with no real grounding.I'm not a big pvp'er, but I think what they are saying, and I agree, is that reverting the changes they made in i13 will improve the situation dramatically, not 'fix everything'. There simply is no disputing the fact at this point that the changes in i13 made the pvp game dramatically worse.
The saddest part is that it should have been realized by the devs that this would be the result after the massive and clear negative feedback the changes received before, during and after implementation.
At some point the devs should swallow their pride, admit the changes were a mistake, and rectify them. The easiest way to do so would be to simply do away with the i13 changes.
What I don't understand is why non-pvp players constantly rail against this idea when it wouldn't take much if any resources away from the regular game, and wouldn't impact them much, if at all. And more importantly, such a change would probably lure some old players back into the game, which benefits the game and every player who plays it. -
/Signed. This is a quick and easy fix to the current lack of content to run on Incarantes or work in progress Incarnates.
-
Quote:Oh, undoubtably.Nice redesigns Techbot.
But I would love if the devs would come with complete awesome revamped looks like they did with Praetorians instead changing a very old piece for a not that old piece, and keeping a very old piece like face or hair for example.
Even if that makes me want the new models costume pieces.
I mean, compare new Nightstar with Luminary...
Ideally, I'd much rather see these supposedly important NPCs get the Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit treatment. I mean, come on, you see those two as trainers and, what? All of two missions in the entire game? You see the Phalanx and Vindicators a HELL of a lot more.
Foreshadow and Mirror Spirit are, to date, the two most detailed models in game. That should be the LOW bar for the Phalanx, Vindicators and signature NPCs.
Why are they still stuck with low quality, SD rendered models after so long? -
Quote:This bares quoting again.
Once upon a time Matt Miller said that they didn't want to make "just a few trials that people would be done with in a week and ask for more again." Ignoring the fact that that's precisely what they did anyway, their solution was to make a "system" which people would want to progress through regardless of content. Well, here's the naked truth - people WILL get "done" with your content eventually. The question is whether they're done because they simply did everything there was to do, or whether they're done because they are sick to their stomachs of what you're offering. The former, while problematic, is still a positive ending. You're done, you have fun, "now what?" The latter is a bitter, angry ending born of frustration and irritation.
'Just a few trials' is EXACTLY what we got. The Alpha slot wasn't 'just a few trials', it was everything and anything. It worked just fine.
And the someone went and broke their own design mantra.
Big freaking whoop.
