Yeah, I know that I can change my tags. In fact, I did so recently when someone educated me that "cannon characters" was actually correctly spelt "canon characters". I do make mistakes, and I am willing to correct them if I think it really matters.

And I agree that "mids'" is more correct than "mid's". Since someone felt strongly enough to go and add the more correct tag to every post with the other tag, I will now retire the old tag as well and use the new one, as well as remove my tags from the old posts. Pretty sure I wouldn't have been motivated to do this to if someone else hadn't done some of the work too, though. This seems to me to be a somewhat minor grammar point.

I suspect that not many people are using the search by tag feature from the search page. I think it's far more likely that people are reading a thread that is insteresting to them, then see the useful tag at the bottom, (as well as whatever snarky or random tags there might be), and click on it to find more threads on that topic. This is just a hunch on my part, but I really do think that that is how it is working. And if I am right, it doesn't really matter what the tag is, as long as it is recognizable as a useful tag.

Those don't help any. But I don't believe they are doing so much damage that they render the whole system useless either. If someone is in the blaster forum and they are reading a thread about someone else's radiation/fire build and want to see other posts with other builds, they're not going to have a hard time knowing that perhaps they should click on my "rad/fire" tag rather than the "tunnel snakes" or whatever nonsensical tag there might also be. And in the forums that I do keep tag, the vast number of threads are tagged by me and me alone.

I like to think that someone, somewhere is getting some use out of my little project.

EDIT: Ok, removed all the tags I had placed. There are still a half dozenish that other people had tagged that way though. This confirms in my mind the idea that I was using a pre existing tag, as I always do if I can.
  2. Interesting. It sounds to me that while that could certainly be a game changing adjustment, it wouldn't be worth leaving forever just because it was that way for a while. Maybe he was getting a bit burned out and this was the final straw? Perhaps he'll be back after a vacation from the game. Either way, I wish him the best of luck.
  3. Just to recap for those of us who are somewhat oblivious, what was the change the upset him so?
  4. I'm glad someone asked this question. Since I've made (or am making) tags for each of the power set combo's as they come up on the AT specific boards I've been curious to know how many there are. Not to the point that I was up to doing the math or anything radical like that, of course. Still, it is good to know.
  5. My apologies to whomever didn't like my use of the "mid's" tag. I don't remember exactly why I went with that version. Very often when I pick a tag, I will choose a pre-existing one if it exists. Don't remember if that was the case with this one, but it seems likely. Anyways, I've used it on enough posts that I feel it it is now an "established" tag, and I will be continuing to use it.

    Elec/Elec Guide

No guide that I know of, but if you click on the elec/elec tag I've added to this thread you'll see several posts on this topic. And a goodly number of them are even in the tanker forum, though scrappers are very well represented as well. The ones from the blasters might not interest you as much though.
  7. Mr. Tealeaf and I always try to duo a flashback mission from our base by level 15. We did one with his new level 9 scrapper this weekend. It's nice to be able to wow others on lowbie teams by dropping a portal at level 11 or whatever. Of course young characters can't actually use it or anything, but it still impresses.

    The List

I've always thought that "Look at this absurd price that this item fetched guys!" or "OMG, you guys wouldn't believe how much inf I wasted with this boneheaded market move" deserved a place on that list. I tag them as "market mistake".

And my very favorite type of post isn't on the list as well. How I love the "I've got a bunch of extra inf to burn, so I'm going to temporarily mess with the going rate of [random item], and post the results"! I always like it when i get to use the "market fun" tag.
  9. I experienced a bug where one of my characters was getting a vanguard merit for compleating a each mission. I was duoing with Mr. Tealeaf, doing his missions, which were from a contact in Founder's falls. We were not fighting any Rikti. This character was also pre-35. He was not getting any merits.

Though about bugging it, but then I got lazy/drunk/passed out.
  10. The inititation is that I mark your post with the "billionaire club" tag. Congrats, you're in!
  11. This is the reason I now take my first two attacks on any blaster I make. Sure, I might get mezzed frequently. Doesn't mean I'm still not dangerous. Pew-pew-pew!
  12. For what it's worth, I find that I usually only use my vet attacts at lower levels. Once a character gets fleshed out with their powerset choices and pools, the vet powers start seeming really "meh". I think that fact that they are unslottable is a big factor in this. What's so great about Sands of Mu when it misses half the time and the animation delays you from firing something off that might actually hit?

Picking the "wrong" vet power can be annoying, but it's hardly a character breaker.
  13. Tag fixed, thanks to whomever corrected me.
  14. Wrong format from mids, so pretty hard to read.

    Costume Question

It was mentioned above, but just to be clear so you know, you cannot have both a cape and the trench. And I seem to remember that you can't have a trench and wings, also, but I might be wrong about that. Cape with wings? Um... shoot. I should know this one...

Oh hey look, kitty! *wanders off to pet my kitty*
  16. No! It warms my heart to know that they are there. That someday, some way, some one might actually buy one. That you'll post a screenie of that, and that I may then laugh from the depths of my soul.

The needy can self help. Inf isn't hard to come by in this game. Just by selling salvage drops at moderate prices, anyone can at the very least afford up to date SO's which is all one really needs. And IO's are easily gotten as well.

But 2 Billion a piece Luck Charms? YOU HAVE THE ONLY ONES OF THOSE LISTED. Have the courage to remain unique! Don't give into the urge to let this part of the game experience slide into the territory of the mundane.

    Fulmens, don't do it!
  17. I don't see what the value of having a sticky would be, other than perhaps to the vanities of the club members. How would having a sticky do anything to help anyone else?

If you really need to know who's in the club, just search for the "billionaire club" tag, which I've also added to this post. I've gotten all the ones posted since shortly after the forum migration.

    On-map compass

    Hi, my name is Tealeaf.

I am SO relieved. I thought that I was the only one to experience Painful Compass Enlargement. Just knowing that I'm not going through this alone makes me feel much better.

Thank you, each and every one of you.

    Here we go again

I've also had them jump overboard and start swimming towards New York. Like I'd suddenly stop arresting them if they actually made it across the state's boarders or something.
  20. Fair enough. Will give it a shot over the weekend. Provided I'm not too tramatized from a dentist visit Friday.
  21. Thanks muchly for the replies. I have no particular concept with her, unless "better" is a concept. And to be honest, my cat knows more about types of defense than I do (she gets into situations. And has a mean case of scrapperlock to boot).

I'll take your advice, Serrate. I might not know how to build a tanker, but I can definetly search the consignment shot for the sets you suggest.

So, anyone got a decent wp/mace build they wouldn't mind posting or linking?
  22. Grats, and nice location for the screenie. Well done!
  23. I admit it it. I'm not much of a numbers cruncher. I look at mid's and know it can tell me the best build possible, but I'm just not very good at seeing what it reveals. Still, I try, and here is my try at a willpower/war mace tanker.

Right now Marcelle is 39, and equipped with common 40 IO's. She feels pretty sturdy, but I have no doubts that she could be stronger. So, I've played around with Mid's and came up with something I think is pretty reasonable. Feel free to tell me if you think I've completely botched it.

  24. Thank you, MTS. You found the problem. I'm now happily spewing blue fire just like I ought to be!
  25. Hmm, I have no idea if I have that or not. I will check into that the next time I have a chance to log on, probably tomorrow night after work. Thanks for the idea, and I will report back!
