Earth/Fire is a good combo...a bit dangerous though. Once you get the Fire APP's everything melts.
Fire/thorn is cool...but fire always make me nervous due to it's lack to control mobs as well as the other sets. -
Thank Heavens that this thread is still thriving.

I'm weird. Blazing Arrow Tickled my fancy wayyyy before ROA.
Plant Control-Seeds of Confusion and Carrion Creepers made Plant control my favorite set for controllers and dominators.
Blaze also did it for me lol.
Blizzard...which should be renamed as RAAAPPPEEE.
There's more but I will give others a chance. -
I like the last build but I must ask...why did you guys go with Hot feet? For the extra dmg and the fear? I normally skip it due to the end drain. To each their own though.

Quote:Nah this wouldn't be the case Fury has changed a lot over the years. One would have no issue with building Fury if Spines was available. Its because spines has -recharge which would affect fury generation negatively. Its also why Brutes don't have Ice Melee/Ice Armor. But the mechanics to Fury have changed quite a bit since CoV release. I'd love that they take another look at these sets.
Again I'll say, Can I has my Spines/Ice Armor Br00t nao????
I think it Spines was ported it would be balanced. Castle said it was overpowered...but to me I think Spines is a tough set to stick with. I think if you actually make it to 50 you should receive an award b/c the early levels are brutally slow paced. I think that reason alone keeps many at bay and it's one reason you don't see a zillion Spines scrappers running around everywhere. Most don't make it past lvl 20.
To be honest though spines is amazing but I've seen other sets kill much faster than spines. -
Def the sleep will be broken with Mortar but that's ok. The sleep is good for going in there and toe-bombing or throwing down poison trap safely. The cone isn't bad if you can get them to stay in one spot...that's when caltrops comes in handy. Also I have Mortar and Poison Trap slotted for extra hold so most of the time stuff stays put!
Also it's nice to see the dmg increase as the sonic attacks stack. -

I have a Traps/AR and a Thugs/Traps so I think I can add a little input.
I would go with DP it's great for PbaoE dmg and great for AOE dmg. You'll get them before they can run away from your traps.
Sonic would be great for mowing down mobs...also I would think it would be super safe with it's sleep. Also Sonic for defenders is the most damage you can get no? -
Quote:I think Plant is the way to go. Plant/Ice seems like a great combo on paper.OK enough already, you guys have convinced me to create a dom. Now the only question is, which one do I roll with? I have no experience with a dom. In fact I have limited experience with anything other than tanks and scrappers. I like to be in the middle of the action. I love playing my spines/fire scrapper with all of his AoE. I solo for the most part but I do like to team up for TF's. With all of this in mind what kind of dom should I go with?
thanks for the suggestions -
I would drop Melt Armor. It's a cool power but it has a small radius and An Embrace of Fire buffed Fireball and RoF makes Melt Armor look silly.
My mids might be borked but I'm reading that if I use EoF and then hit the two powers I am going to deal 450+ dmg to a spawn...and that's unslotted! -
I love my doms! Stalkers and Doms brought me to the dark side! I have a Ice/Psi and a Earth/Fire dom that will be a BEAST once they get their APP's. My Plant/Fire is just sick. Sometimes with him I have to chill b/c I tend to out do the Brutes, Scrappers and Tanks on the Team.
Just to let you guys know...I made a lvl 50 Elec/Ice/Ice Dom (don't ask) and let me tell you...the dude was a complete Beast! It was odd though I felt like a controller...more than a dom but things died so I had no worries ^_^.
The end drain, the sleep, the confuse such a fun active combo.
Do you guys find yourselves converting others to doms once they see you in action? It's great! -
Quote:This. I think it pumps out the most AOE/PBAOE/ in the game.Rad/Fire Blaster. 3 Click PBAoE's by level 10. 9 AoE's (between Targeted AoE's, Location AoE's and PBAoE's, both Click and Toggle, counting Consume as one of them) by 38. Plus the opportunity for Bonfire (Location AoE) and Rise of the Phoenix (Yes, I'm counting it as an attack) by 50.
The only issue is endurance (which I think I've cured in my latest Mids build, which will be posted in the Blaster section in a few minutes), and defense, which is generally taken care of by making sure your team has solid aggro control from a Tank (or three). -
I 5 slot Seeds with The Contagious Confusion or whatever it's called. Cheap purple sets make me smile

...I have never been a dooooom person but I would be lying if I didn't say I'm worried. WTF?! I wish NCSoft would give us insight what is in store for us, the game and the company in the near future. My love and Thanks go out to all who are leaving!

I agree and thanks Steel! I typed up my response with a throbbing headache at around 3 am. I was dying lol.

Ice Armor is very different from Energy Aura...Sadly though I'm not a number person at all.
Think of Energy Aura as Electric Armor mixed with Ice Armor lol.
Energy on paper looks like it would work very well due to it's defense and a bit of resistance stacking to provide protection along with its PBAoE heal. It also does well at taking care of end issues due to Conserve Power and Energy drain but in battles it all falls flat. I can't speak for the set entirely due to me only getting to try it out when I played one of my friends lvl 50 but in battle I ran into all types of issues like keeping the aggro on me, scaling defense with no Backup 'cept for Overload, Heal only effecting when surrounded by a big mob.
I'm well versed with Electric Armor though! lol
Ice focuses on defense, spamming Energy Absorption, using icicles and Chilling Embrace to slow down incoming heat and the trust ole hoarfrost. Also if thinks get risky you cna always hit Hibernate. Ice has many weaknesses as well but I think it outshines EA by far.
Sorry for the rambling but it's the best comparison I can produce! Might need another head in her to swoop down and help me out lol. -
Quote:That's sounds like an excellent idea. I do think the Ice Melee set would need to be changed a bit to be more ideal for brutes...Maybe Take out Frozen Fists? I know I'm being greedy but I LOVE frost...but I'm one of those few who actually like DOT.Hmmm I recal Ice Melee one a brute in CoV beta. It had both swords that Ice Melee currently has AND Ice Sword Circle as youve all seen in the Domie Ice set. It was gorgeous looking... If you like that kind of thing. Which I did.
Even if Ice armor itself were never spread arround I should very much like to see Ice Melee "beta brute" style passed arround to Brutes and Scraps and stick the ice sword circle into whatever underperforms in the Tanker version, as far as I'm concerned. So damn Pretty... it's a piety it never went live. (sheds tear)

I know what builds I would roll. A Fire/Ice, Stone/Ice, Ice/Shield....I think the one that would excite me the most would be Claws/Ice...can you imagine that? Huge Mob: Energy Absorption, With Icicles running at full fury while you do the Spin attack? *twitch*

Chrome and Fusion...if only you two heard what KM sounded like originally...
It was SO much better. IT could of been played off as Energy, Wind or water with it's sound effects. the only issue it had was the impact...it was very weak. That in my opinion is a quick tweak...yet they went ahead and redid the whole sound of the set 'cept for 1 power. -
Quick! Someone bound his legs to his chair so he can't leave the Studio!

I'm in. I just had to re-do the patch several times...then I rebooted my computer and everything now is right as rain.

Same issue here. I'm going to try to reboot again and see what happens.
