Any word on another run ladies and gents?

Quote:Comparing the two /Dark would be safer since it's all ranged but with Time it make things easier to get to softcap (Also the -ToHit helps as well) Also Time doesn't have serious end issues once you hit 38. Mending doesn't require a baddie or a hit check.Actually I would think that Fire/Dark would be a safer combo to play. Fire other than the nuke doesn't have any business being in melee.
I think both combos are great...and it really depends on if you want to "melee blast" or just range blast. When it comes to utility, support and Team wipe recovery Dark cannot be matched.
@Sypher- I would go for Ageless as well so you can later on Nuke with no issues. I built my Ice/Dark a little different than yours but my toon was designed for League play. I took vengeance and I didn't worry about protecting Dark Servant since he recharges so fast and he can normally hold his own anyway. -
Excellent...one can never have to many stalkers.
-
/Regen on a stalker...I'm not that experienced with Regen but I admit thinking of that set on a stalker makes me a bit nervous.

Quote:No problem and I have to say right back at you: After reading your response and theme I understand, Darkest night is a great power and it does sound like your theme leans towards dark more than time. I would so go for Dark. Time is amazing as well but it doesn't have as many buff/debuff tools as Dark does.i played with time and dark on mids and i have to say on paper time looks more defensive and has more buffs, however, even though time has a defense buff and an end buff, dark has darkest night which in my opinion, is the most, if not most powerful debuff move in this game, the only thing thats tempting me to dark is its playstyle and it goes with my concept, plus i get a lovely pet to go with it all, time just seems all futuristic like and thats not what im trying to go for.
although your explanation and reasoning for time strongly influences me, im still stumped, i will try both and see where it gets me, thanks alot for the advice. -
I do enjoy Fire/Dark don't get me wrong but to me Fire/Time Plays very similar but just more "up close and personal/Melee" Range.
Fire/Dark- Superior -ToHit, patch can be stacked for -60% Res, Fearsome Scare is not only great for shutting down a mob it slows things down a bit keeping them in patch, Amazing Rez/Stun, A bit tough on end though, Stealth power I could go on and on but with Fire/Time you're almost looking dealing with the same Playstyle but just a different animal
Fire/Time- Good -ToHit, Slowed Response can stack for a small amount of time for up to -84% Res, Distortion Field is great for mitigation as well as stacking with Time's Juncture, One could build up a good defensive toon easily, Chrono Shift Keeps your blasts firing and helps with end issues...
To sum it up entirely I would recommend making a Fire/Dark and Fire/Time on beta and get them bumped to 50 to test them out...to be honest I challenge you to not fall in love with both toons/combinations. -

I would love to Join up me-self. Elec/Ice for me probably.
-
Ultimus try out a Plant/Fire Dom buddy. They are not only fun but deadly and during the end game they can hold their own on Lams and bafs.
-
I love Elec Blast, I have a Elec/Time Corr, Elec/Dark, Elec/Fire Blaster and they are teh beast! A lot of people look for PBaoe sets and the first thing they see is Fire, Rad or DP but they never give Elec a chance. Ball of lightning recharges super fast and it has nummy dot! With this set I would recommend focusing on damage and if something is lucky enough to survive your onslaught then it's to bad b/c now they are out of end
.
If you want a sick PBAOE build that has enough AOE to Rival a Rad/Fire (Rad.fire has the most area damaging attacks in the game) I would go Elec/Fire. -
Quote:I remember seeing that thread/post. I agree I'm all for it as well.I believe Arcanaville has proven, by the devs own calculations, that crashing nukes should all get a rather ridiculous damage scale increase, if they remain the way they are. I, for one, am all for it.
Oh and let me tell you my Fire/Storm Controller...dude she is a FORCE to be reckoned with! I can Spam the immob have to LS out, throw out Bonfire, Have Hover, Mist and Hurricane running all at the Same time...Yeah, this is the way storm was supposed to be played!!! -
Currently he has Scorpion Shield and he's 45% on defense...but I'm having second thoughts...I like the safety of Cold Mastery. With Hoarfrost and Hibernate I can keep myself alive when things get really crazy. Also Snow Storm and Frozen Armor are awesome...I think I'm going to go Cold.

Thanks Raj, I dabbled a bit with Blasters and Corrs but it was never anything serious...but once I found out about Ageless I started to dive head first into the "Nuke" world so this is a bit new to me. I think Ageless has breathed new life in many sets...for example /Sonic, Storm, Anything with a crashing Nuke, /Dark Armor...it has made the impossible, possible and it makes you think of your nukes as a high dmg attack instead of a "Use it only once per mission in a special situation, then run like hell until your end comes back" attack. Thanks for all the great advice.

Quote:Thanks, I knew it wasn't 45% I was just throwing it out there as an example because I was having difficulty even asking the question lol. You definitely helped me out right here...something that I didn't know/never looked into...Cardiac makes your powers cost less. But nuke crashes aren't a power cost, they directly modify your endurance. Conserve Power doesn't mitigate nuke crashes (although it makes it easier to get by with no recovery when you pop a blue afterward), and neither does Cardiac.
Also, a 45% discount doesn't mean your powers cost 55% of their normal costs. Endurance reduction makes the power cost 1 / (1 + endredux) of the original cost. So 45% from Cardiac would make a power cost ~69% of the normal cost, assuming you have no other endurance reduction slotted in the power.
Interesting, *looks at mids* by joe you're right! My thanks go out to both of you! -
I just need clarification from someone who is in the know
. Nukes drain -100% END and Cardiac Core Paragon discounts all attacks by +45% END give or take...
So correct me if I'm wrong, If I Nuke a mob with Cardiac Core Paragon slotted I will lose roughly 55% of my end but that's it correct? I do know that Cardiac does not protect you from the -1000% Recovery that hits you after a nuke.
Thanks in advance! -
Also if your pockets are deep enough you can slot Irradiate with Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for -Res 20%. With that Proc and Achilles Heel things get just plain DED lol.
I have an Elec/Dark and I play the same way. Once you get good recharge and proc'd out you'll become a monster. Your Stuns along with Soul Drain + Aim then hitting them with you PBAOEs...amazing...you know, I can't express how much I love Soul Drain. Ugh, great power. -

I think we are getting one new control set along with two or three new assault sets...

Quote:I understand where you're coming from...and I'm going to let you finish but...j/k lol. I think AR works better on a Corr and even then it only works with certain sets that can let you go crazy with the cones For example... Ar/Dark & Ar/Traps I think those two secondaries were MADE for AR. I agree I made an Ar/Kin and Ar blaster and I ended up deleting both but Ar/Traps and Ar/Dark is golden.Assault Rifle is a jack of some trades, master of none kinda powerset. Anything it does, there is another Blast set that does it better. And there are some tricks that AR can't even do (notable being no Aim, yes Dark doesn't have it either, but they get Siphon Life).
I've had AR/Kin and AR/Storm, and the only reason I played them while hating them was for concept, both are deleted. I also have an AR/Nrg and an AR/Fire Blaster, both of which are concept (first one is a Tribute toon), and both of which are easily eclipsed by my Ice/Elec and Fire/Psi.
AR looks cool... but at times it seems that's the only thing going for it. (Especially after the nerf to Ignite... damn, that power was awesome when it was on a 4 sec recharge timer.)
Edit: AR/Traps is just silly with the hold procs in Acid mortar and Poison Traps things stay put, and with The knockdown proc in caltrops things just tend to attempt to flee or flop around helplessly, this is great for AR b/c it gives you time to set up your cones of DOOM! -
Why is that? I know I love my Ar/Traps...but I have no issues with cones.

I would buy the pack if the Holy Shotgun shot out giant kamehameha beams the size of buildings :3
