This reminds me of when they came out with onion ice cream lol.
-
This may sound a little crazy but I hope that they one day add some complexity to it...it's perfectly normal to have a kid that is mixed straight down the middle (half black half white...if you ignore the stupid one drop rule). I would love to see something like this in the future of avatar...but it seems unlikely.
-
I think it works fine actually...I paired mine with Fire Blast (ugh). Water Blast has such great mitigation...I think it goes with almost everything to be honest.
-
This thread is a Godsend. Thanks guys.
-
Kin-Will increase anything due to the added recharge and damage cap...can be decent for solo EB and AV fights since the -regen isn't bad and the buffs are sexy.
Cold-Adds insane amount of -Res Thanks to Sleet and Heat Loss. Can turn Bosses into kittens....seriously cold is made to just destroy AV's and EBs. Superb debuffs and buffs...ugh yes.
Poison-Well lol. Better for large mobs of minions and lts but it can dish out a lot of -res much like cold and Poison Trap is powerful.
Traps-FFG is a Team buff and it's loved. ...ugh I can't type everything lol.
I would go with Traps since it's good at everything. Second I would say go with Cold. Third Dark...Howling Twilight has a lot of -Regen. Fourth Poison. Fifth Kin.
Storm is really up there as well but if you don't like Knockback then it's not the set for you. Storm is great at killing bosses and AVs and it's gets darn right fun when you have two hurricanes out at the same time...it's like a mini nuke lol. -
Beam goes well with /Cold and /Storm...with enough ranged defense nothing can touch you if you go the storm route. FF/Beam is also an awesome choice.
Don't go for traps...there's to much going on and beam loses it's OOMPH! IF you have a secondary that's entirely to busy.
/Dark is also an excellent choice since it's not that clicky and Tar Patch keeps them in a tight little spot.
I wouldn't pair it up with rad...but I have my own opinion about rad. The Anchors like to run and beam can't handle too much heat since it's mostly ST. -
Quote:I was trying not to post here because I haven't played my poison toon in quite some time and I feel that my advice would be rusty BUT...So assuming one WAS going to take /poison on a corruptor, what's the strategy with it? Stay at range and use those debuffs, going in with poison trap against harder targets? Or mainly focusing on the melee debuffs once you get them, using the ranged debuffs to add additional effects as you can? And particular IOs that can really help the set perform better?
Well it depends on what you want to do but I think that the sets shines if you focus on melee or if you are willing to fade in and out of melee.
Believe it or not /Poison Trap is the best power in the set and with purples it can melt mobs easily. In fact I can Take out an entire mob with just Poison Trap ALONE...the trick is living long enough lol.
So ok, I tend to play Poison like Traps actually. Here's how I play with my toon.
- Lay down 2-3 poison traps...the tougher the mob the more traps.
- Pull the mob to you...my favorite way of doing so is hitting them with Weaken.
- run around the corner and wait and chew on some purples or oranges if you have some to spare...also turn on VG
- Once they hit the Traps they will pretty much come to a halt for a few seconds. Jump in, debuff at will, and start blasting.
- Remember to lay down Poison Trap whenever it's up since it provides decent mitigation and insane damage.
The biggest problem with /Poison is that on a Corr it's down right painful...and you only truly see the benefits of the set once you get enough Defense or once you pick up ageless.
What I slot Poison Trap with-The rest of poison is pretty easy to proc but With Poison Trap...I have found out that Purple is better lol...the power might become even more deadly once we get the Proc change but for now the way things works it's in your best interest to stuff it with proc goodness!
- Lockdown: Change for +2 Mag Hold- This is a must for obvious reasons...the more traps out the more chances of them all being held.
- Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for Res Debuff- Another must if you have deep enough pockets. Add this to the Achilies Heel Proc and your toon will easily be able to dish out -100% + Res on foes...if they survive long enough.
- Superior Malice of the Corruptor: Recharge/Chance for Negative Energy Damage- It's super cheap to turn this into a purple and it's a PPM Enhancements so it has a greater chances of firing ect blah blah.
- Unbreakable Constraint: Chance of smashing Damage- Smashing dmg is gross but 107.1 dmg procing a few times ain't bad!
- Armageddon: Chance of Fire Damage-Fire dmg! Awesome woot!
- Add whatever... would you like..ACC? Recharge?...my toon is 53 so he's covered...i think i had 1 acc and 1 recharge in there when I was leveling.
Remember, /Poison isn't for everyone and it doesn't really shine until you get ageless and some great defense (Kind of like a Fire/Earth Dom or a Fire/Kin Controller) but if you are willing to torture yourself repeatedly then this is the set for you!
I hope this helps guys and let me know if you can even understand what I just typed...I admit my spelling sucks and I am mildly insane lol. -
Quote:You beat me to it. Nice. It's also possible that Hama was a relatively weak waterbender who could only bloodbend with the full moon.
Where it's entirely possible that Katarra might have been able to, if she had ever been inclined to. She just never was, because she was horrified at it's use (and ultimately regretted using it the few times that she did).
It was already evident that Katarra was a much stronger waterbender, having been able to break Hama's bloodbending with no experience or practice with the technique.
Katarra (and the others) could simply have accepted Hama's implication that it could only be done under the full moon, because Katarra never cared to test that fact.
I actually think that Amon is a powerful Energy Builder...it reminds me of...I forgot what martial art it was but there are several elements fire, water, wood, ect but yin and yang are also elements (light and dark) if one is able to master energy bending he is able to move at superspeeds, they will posses super strength and probably some small clairvoyance...this is a rough theory of course.
Also Amon being a robot doesn't really make sense to me since Tarlock did slightly slow Amon down for a few seconds. Unless Amon is a steam powered android or had some other water based fuel inside of him. -
3 months is considered Necro now eh? Man the Devs are cracking down lol. I'm going to join the other thread then thanks guys!
-
Soo what about that Amon...Resistant to bloodbending...CRAy-ZeE!
-
Ill/Cold and Ill/Poison are great combos. Both of those two can dish out -Res like crazy...even though /Poison is risky it has the "potential" to out -Res Cold.
-
Well he did mention Snipe Changes MIGHT happen during I24 but he said changes to anything else or Nukes for that matter will probably be I25+...he also told us to be patient and that changes are a comin'! I think it's his way of saying that the Ranged ATs will be balanced eventually but it will take a few issues.
-
Dakken doesn't seem gay or bi to me...he's more of a Polyamourus type of guy or a guy that is willing to go to great means to get what he wants...he's to Freaky looking and I refuse to claim him in the gay comic character pile lol :P.
-
Believe me, this will not make the gay populatione decide to start reading DC...and most certainly Gay comic fans would know by now if they like DC or not. The only money the might make will be from everyone buying the first issue and that's it.
I know of a lot of gay/bi comic book readers as well as gaymers and nerds...heck I know a lot of Bears who read comics and that's a sub group lol...no pun intended. -
Quote:I can also steal aggro with my Dominator, Corr and Controller. I assure you that it is possible. The only time you can steal aggro from a brute or tank is when they don't even bother trying to get aggro because they are used to the whole team not needing anyone to tank for them. Even then I can't see it (And never have), unless you are talking about the adds over the aggro cap or when you get to a mob first, but that isn't aggro to steal, just there to claim.
This really seems like one of those 'blasters already do lots of damage' claims, but they actually don't (The brute you can't steal aggro from for example will likely be out damaging you) even if you don't have to worry about death. -
Quote:Everyone else is scared to discuss this because they are afraid to be pointed at and laughed at but I'm going to throw myself on the tracks lol.Really? What level are you when you are playing at -1/x8?
If this is solo, and you playing at x8. Inspirations should be dropping quite frequently.
If you have teammates, it shouldn't be a problem at all.
Either way, once again, it is certainly not insta-death.
Please Imagine this being read to you by William Shatner.
Start scene. Action!
Level 50 Rad/Fire Blaster. Fighting Council. I normally chew on some Lucks or Break Frees but lets just say that I'm out of both. I have Frozen Armor going. I hit Aim and Build Up. I jump into melee with Hot Feet running and then I start my PBAOE Combo of doom. I get hit by mezz and an attack from one or two Vampyri. Hot Feet Toggles off...for a a second or two I'm helpless. I finally wake up and try to chew on a green...but Now every warwolf in the group is more than ticked off and I get bombarded with 4+ Hurls all flying towards me at the same time. I Crumple over.
End Scene. Cut!
Now most of the time when this happens I have a green or an orange I can chew on to keep me barely alive but I have to be quick because Warwolves are fast and they are INFAMOUS for interrupting you when you're trying to activate hibernoate. I find that he best solution is to run for the hills so you can rest and reengage.
Now this scenario BARELY happens if my blaster is built for defense. With high defense and purples handy the Mezzes never touch you so there's not much to worry about (unless you run out of inspirations or up the diff level)...but if you can't slot IO's or afford a decent Defense build...you're stuck.
I've only have this problem with Blappers. My range blasters have a better chance of survival since they can Blast from afar, retreat, wait and then finish the rest off.
__________
On teams a blapper is walking on thin ice because a destructive Blapper can easily out Tank a Tanker or Brute due to AOE damage output. That's a problem because at -1/x8 you had a chance of somehow surviving an alpha but most teams play on +1 or higher so you're going to faceplant A LOT unless you have a good Tabker and you're really skilled at jumping in, Nuking and running around the corner before they get a hit or mezz in.
Some would say "Well Todd why Play a Blapper at all?" Well, because I like the carnage and the destruction but I don't think that a Blapper has enough trade off compared to a ranged Blaster. Also almost all of the Blaster Secondaries are Melee oriented so you're forced to do some Blapping if you want to use those powers. -
Quote:It does on -1/x8Alright, maybe having some of the attacks not root would be something to look into. But, even with them rooting, it still allows for plenty of movement after the animation. The powers don't take that long to animate. As far as getting mezzed means you are 'done' I have not had that experience. Sure it happens sometimes, but nothing to worry about. Are you talking soloing here or teaming? Either way, getting mezzed does not = insta-death.
-
Quote:I would reply with a long post but judging from your response you seem to know what you're talking about! BUT I think that you have a primary/secondary that is very synergetic...For instance my Beam/Devices Blaster is very safe and very deadly compared to my Elec/Dark Blaster who lives in melee. Also my Elec/Dark Blaster cannot handle huge mobs solo like my doms, defenders and corrs can.About what other choices there are. I can just say not one of my blasters has all of the pool powers you suggested. As matter of fact, of what you listed, my blasters probably have two of them.
I can't tell anyone 'how' to enjoy their blasters. That is a matter of personal preference, and style of play. What I can say is this, I do not experience this 'too much dying' phenomenon. My blaster does not feel 'weak' or unable to survive. That feeling is not from laying back, and letting others do all the 'work'. This is from years of playing, solo, teams, trials, task forces, and iTrials.
I'll admit, there could be some tweaks made to the AT. But, some of what I read on this forum are ideas for a complete AT overhaul. A complete revamp of the AT, is just unnecessary.
Reading your last statement, I hope that is full of sarcasm. I have never had a problem in getting a blaster to 50. There were and still are plenty of ways to survive long before the incarnate system. Hmm, and slot up for mad defense? I guess that is popular. But, I can tell you my favorite blaster has negligible defensive numbers. Hop and pop, move and groove! Positioning goes a long way. If you want to be stationary and slug it out, perhaps blaster is the wrong AT choice.
I just think that it's weird that a Blaster can't perform on the same level as the other ATs solo. -
Can we get back on topic Another fan lol. You're not going to get what you want out or Arcana and she's not going to get it out of you. Let us all just get back to discussing how a blaster currently should play in order to perform on the same levels as the other ATs...or is it even possible without having to go out of ones way to make it work.
-
Quote:So what other choices are there?I don't see why would need to build around those choices, to play your blaster efficiently, or 'properly enjoy the AT.
Quote:Actually, Another_Fan saying its possible I'm not wrong is like Venture saying its possible someone isn't retarded. Its an incredibly strong endorsement if you parse it in context.
Because what I want is on very general terms what Another_Fan wants, his main criticism when it comes to blasters focuses on the notion that all of my analysis is wrong, except for the rare moments when it agrees with him in which case I only got there by coincidence, because my flawed methodology could not possibly have generated the correct response.
I'm not so much arguing as reminding Another_Fan that in this particular instance, when I'm not specifically inviting debate for its sake but doing so because it parallels a game change I'm actually serious about effecting, his swipes are basically immaterial to me. I would gladly tolerate them if it got me closer to my goal, and I would also gladly eviscerate them if it got me closer to my goal. However, neither does anything beneficial so I'm just responding for the sake of replying to someone that either thinks they can take free shots at me or enjoys being made a fool of by me. It doesn't matter much which.
Oops just saw your post Another_Fan...
Ugh, lol. I need to deviate from agreeing or disagreeing with you two before I get hit with a stray Fireball lol. Shame on me for attempting to get in the middle of you two lol.
Can we get back on topic at least?
Alkehine, how should one enjoy their blasters?
Maybe we should play on the lowest setting possible and just do DIB's and DFB until we get to 50? Then we can IO out, take like 5 power pools and slot up for mad defense? That's going to be tough for a lot of people to do...especially if they are use to playing Controller, Defenders and Scrappers those AT's can handle big mobs very nicely -
I agree. I was dragged along for a TF run "I haven't did an Sf or TF in over a year or more" but I LOVED it...almost as much as the Katie Hannon TF...which I probably only like because it's short and it has to do with Croatoa lol.
-
Wrong about what? Do you two even know what you're arguing about anymore lol.
You both have agreed that blasters need more than just mezz protection and moar dmg.
I thought the beginning argument was about admitting to the fact that blasters need help in the first place...Which both of you agree on so I don't see the need to pursue this further unless both of you have concocted a sure fire way to fix them and you have it laid out in PDF or Powerpoint lol. -

Quote:Ugh, I hear you do I need a job as well. I've never gone this long without one...it's making me itch lol. It's all in good fun, bro. *fistbump* (And just to make sure there's no doubt, "pancakes" was referring to the post, not you personally.)
There's not a problem at all with that; everybody needs to take a break now and then to keep things fresh. I'm pretty much going to do exactly the same as what Spatch said--grind the bejeezus out of the new stuff on my badgers over the next few days, then take a break and play Skyrim (except on my Xbox instead of my PS3).
I also need to really buckle down and find a job before the summer is out, and that means studying and figuring out where to get (and how to afford) certifications. You wouldn't believe how hard it's been to find a place around here that will just let me pay for one or two certification classes without requiring me to sign up for a ton of other stuff and paying over $10K for the "privilege".
Also to Cerulean_Shadow I love the new content and the new zones and costumes and whatnot but one thing that holds me over more than ANYTHING is new powersets. Personally you could release an issue with nothing but shiny new powersets and that would be enough to keep me playing for a long time. I spend most of my time playing around in mids thinking of different powerset combos. I love the new additions for this issue but I'm burnt out anyway to be honest.
Everyone is different, for some all they need is new lore, some new zones and costumes...or some people are even steven but for me I would say that I'm...
49%-New Powersets
20%-New Content
20%-QOL Changes
11%-New Clothes/Threads
:P -
Quote:Yeah, I have been playing COH non-stop and I do need to take a break so this is the perfect opportunity.I'm in the same boat. Beast Mastery, Staff Fighting and Dark Control have been keeping me playing CoH pretty consistently over the past few months, but now all those toons are 50 and incarnated to some degree or other. I got Skyrim for the PS3 for Christmas I've only peripherally played around with it...think I might delve into that for awhile.
No knock against CoH: my subscription is annual for a reason, I love this game. I think we all need to take a break from time to time, though.
That said, I'll be dusting off my badger (see sig) tomorrow and diving into the new content pretty aggressively over the next few days.
I don't play Masterminds so Beast Mastery was vey "meh" to me. I'm behind on my Melee sets and I was barely able to afford Street Justice let alone Staff Fighting and I'm not into melee toons...so the only thing holding me over was Dark Control and Dark Affinity in which I've finally finished leveling.
