Pets. I need to clarify. I know how to "see" my pets. I also know I can target a pet to see their health. I heal in this order...tanks, players then pets. In the heat of battle, I don't need to be searching my screen for pets. Sometimes as a mastermind, I need a little more love to come to my pets. If they die and I'm taking the time to revive, a player, or god forgive, I might die. I sometimes play with my wife, and she charges into the next battle while I'm healing my pets. If she had, as we are used to, a window that displays my pet status she would know and not have to ask me.

Target through a target. I know how to target directly. I like to target the tank and assist them. A good tank, imo, targets things that are hitting him and not the mezzed, daized, held, etc... and is therefore shifting targets alot. I don't like wasting endurance needlessly. I like saving it for needed actions like healing, holding, mezzing, damaging, etc.

Like I said this is a "wish list". The game is playable the way it is, but isn't there room for improvement? Thanks again for the comments. They really are appreciated.
I've been in numerous situations where I'd like to be able to see other team mates' buffable pets (don't care to see the ones I can't buff) and having this as a pet / team window would be helpful. Dittoes actually for buffable hostages and crazies (like LG).

    Like:
    1) Toon customization. Unmatched appearance and spec choices.
    2) Graphics. Good, but not the best I've seen.
    3) Stability. Ok. a. Issues are curser disappears sometimes. (Major because I only have use of 1 hand and have to use mouse) b. Team members, in zone, sometimes missing status info for health/endurance. (Major for my healers)
    4) Global friends. I wish all games had this. What a pain to find folks you know without it.
    5) Groups (aka teams). This game has better chances at P.U.G.s then alot of games I've played and the quality of players is unmatched.

    Dislike:
    4) No team member pet window. Major for healers and pullers to keep pets alive and to know when to rest.
    5) Curser size not adjustable. This is my wife's gripe. The curser gets "lost" with all the action of fights and is hard to find sometimes.
    6) No speech integration. I know I can use teamspeak, vent, skype, etc, but some folks don't. As stated earlier, I have 1 hand. Try running and typing with 1 hand at the same time. Fun to watch, but not to do.
    7) Target of target window. Saves endurance when "aiming through" folks when target of target almost defeated.

Overall this is a great game. I look forward to playing with my wife and friends for several years. Great job devs!
There's a fix for the mouse cursor disappearing problem: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showp...9&postcount=36

Works great and may also help with the getting "lost" thing for your wife, too.

Mine, too, but definitely worth it! Went ahead and hit 27 so I could get some lvl 30 enh and took care of that today. Fern's all ready for Saturday (I may finish the Striga arc and lvl 20 costume mish before then for wedding band and the third costume slot).
  4. Regarding the "why people vote as they do" question, and I'm not sure if my input will matter as I'm not "one of you"; I'm just an interested bystander who adores creativity and talent, but alas has neither in large supply. I don't know anyone here (so am not voting based on popularity). This month, because of the complete requirements of a poster plus trailer, I didn't see how anyone other than Battlewraith could be first--the art is stunning and the trailer first-rate--so that was my pick. I loved the potential in ChristopherRobin's work (both poster and story), but it (the art) felt unfinished to me (tell that to Picasso, right? heh). As someone else mentioned, I was drawn to the vintage feel of DarthDelicious' entry (Congrats, btw!), but isn't that what art (and movies) are meant to do, appeal to our emotions, memories, and imagination? I don't think it's possible, for me, anyway, to separate my appreciation of art from the emotional, etc. reactions it evokes.

Anyway, that's my two cents (or inf).

After many hours of planting fun, I finally got Fern d'Vine up to Creepers yesterday! (And yes, I got her tree, too, finally.) I'm so excited and can't wait to drop mine along with everyone else's . . . it's going to be gorgeous!
  7. Best. post. ever. I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed the fine writing and sentiment.

It's so true that it's wonderful to share the game with new players and to re-experience that first excitement with them. Good for you, and I hope that I catch a glimpse of that 8-foot purple box of fiber goodness sometime. I'll ask him how the pancake he's doing, for sure!

Personally, I suspect that until Positron and a few other key players in the Dev staff leave, any type of power set respec won't happen. It's all about "design philosophy". Mind you I could be wrong about this, and will gladly admit it should they suddenly implement it.

I also agree with the quote of Memphis Bill's that Je Saist posted. Why would they do it at this point, if they could make more money off of enticing folks to subscribe?

Aw, sorry, I thought I had answered this in my original response to your criteria:

While it's not a big deal to me--if it were, I guess I could rename her and reroll with /dp (or delete her *gasp* Nevah!), but . . . well, that's just not going to happen, it would be nice to respec her to /dp. Very nice.

Okay, I can see how that doesn't address your question as directly as you might like. My thinking is that given your A-D requirements, with which I do agree, it seems that an added "scarlet letter[ing]" is not necessary. Especially given how many players are running around on 50s they have no idea how to play yet have no similar "scarlet letter[ing]" to indicate as much. That's all. If I respec from ice/ to fire/ on a blaster it's because I know that I like fire/ better because I've been playing for 2 or 3 years (by your own requirements). Not that that's what I'd do: I'd actually only do a "total" respec on one toon and only because /dp would fit her "western" concept better than the secondary she has. But I have other /dp toons (didn't we all rush to make them when it came out?), so it's not like I have no idea how to play the secondary. Why would I want/need a big red name to point out that I just respec'd? It just makes no sense at all to me.

But hey, glad I could amuse you (and hopefully make you smile, however wryly).

As always, newcomers are welcome, they just have to be blueside on Freedom.
It was a fun fun time! I would love to the screenie, too, if anyone got one.

I just want to point out that I don't "hate" Empathy, think it's a bad set, or think it's not useful on some level. What I'm saying is, if you look at what the support sets offer at end game content levels, Empathy brings a rather low amount compared to other sets. If you think Empathy brings more to the table then say TA, then that's your opinion and I don't think you hate TA because of it unless you do. I think you would be wrong, but that's my opinion.
True, storm brings something unique to the table in terms of powers (as do empaths), but the results can be achieved by other means via regular power set choices, power pools, and/or epic power sets (as with empaths). Storm is great for kb, slows, and debuffs, but so are the other troll sets (and many blaster sets). Many AT's don't need that kind of mitigation or are equipped in some way with their own (as incarnates, we're all pretty self-sufficient . . . that's part of the fun of it). I've never seen anyone say, oh, wait, we can't possibly do this tf (trial, mission) without storm, but I have seen that said about tanks and empaths (and kins. And rads.). Even so, tanks, empaths, kins, and rads (and every other set) is not crucial to a team's success in any game content (with some notable exceptions where debuffs are critical, but even then, incarnate powers stack and provide that, too). They all add something to the team, but no AT adds something that cannot be attained by another power set, IOs, or incarnate. Even if I can't get snowstorm (say), I can use ice storm to similar affect and with similar results. Need something kb'd? No problem, almost every one of my toons has at least one (and usually two) kb powers. Need something slowed? Fine, I'm on it, shiver and ice storm, particularly shiver, do that superbly. Need an O2 boost? I got it, let me hit Rebirth. These are just examples, but my point is that there's nothing that storm brings to the table that I either can't do with my toons (or that I'd necessarily "need") or that can't be found on any random PUG.

That's not to say that I don't love storm (I do, and have several stormy toons), but it's absurd to say (or imply) that they bring something to the table that can't be attained by any other means. Ditto every AT. That's why this "empaths are totally useless" meme is so tired. Every AT, at the end of the day, is "useless" (if by "useless" we mean that teams can excel without them, and that does seem to be the definition we're using). Personally, I'm glad to see more trial and tf leaders saying things like "bring what you want" or "bring what you enjoy" when asked what is needed. That's usually the "right" answer as far as I'm concerned.

As to the lack of scrappers, I only have one scrapper atm in my stable a km/sd in the mid-30's who while fun, isn't as interesting to me as those I listed.

@Clave- I agree whole heartedly on the don't IO if its going to collect dust, and I know those toons wont. While the tanks are the same role as my main IO'd toon they do come at it differently, so I enjoy switching it up and using them. the Veats have become my main ranged damage fixes, because until the blaster in the list no blaster other then my 1st 50 has gotten out of the 20's
Well, I'd IO out the blaster or troller, but that's because I personally would be more likely to play those than the melee. If it really doesn't matter to you and you enjoy them all equally, just put the names in a hat and draw one. Make that your next project.

I'd have to agree with this. No AT is useless, but none are absolutely necessary/crucial, either. It used to be that teams felt they just HAD to have a tank, empath, debuffer, [or insert any other] for just about anything, but that's not true (and actually wasn't even before incarnate).

As I've said, this empaths are useless meme is tired and has been (or could be) said about any AT in the game. Every AT adds something to a team, and whatever that something is can now easily (well, if you find grinding trials easy) be replaced by incarnate powers. This does not detract from the "usefulness" of all or any of the ATs, though it does make them all nonessential. I have zero problem with this.

Hmm, well, I don't think I'd be "for" a total respec to a whole other AT. I do, however, support respecing within an AT (a blaster stays a blaster but can respec from ice/fire to ice/elec or to elec/fire or whatever). I think that keeping it this way would alleviate some of the (I think justified) concerns that people have expressed.

I still don't see that happening much, but even if everyone (except you. And me.) did it . . . so what? Would that really be any different than new players power leveling to 50 in AE in their first week? Oh, wait, yes, it would because the total respec would be tied to vet status in some way. So let's see, someone who's played the game for seven years (say), hates melee, but for some unknown reason decides to take one of his (or her) lvl 50 blasters, defenders, trolls, whatever and turn it into a tank (again, no one is suggesting this be possible, but let's pretend). What horrors do you expect to befall the game because of that?

The thread is discussing respecing the same archtype, just changing primary or secondary sets. A blaster is a blaster, no one would be able to make it a tank just to try it out at 50. And no one is suggesting that even be possible. What are you talking about?

Sure, but you're suggesting making vet's names red to clue the world into the fact that we did a "total" respec, that makes no sense. So we have to go to the trouble of looking at newbie's badges to find out that they don't have a 3 month badge, but . . . . Still makes no sense.

Nor have I. So I wouldn't use a one-time respec to get a melee set; what on earth would possess someone who doesn't enjoy melee to respec into a melee set?

And that's realyl to the player's benefit, because they'll get to learn their new powersets, just as if a comic character suddenly got a whole new bunch of powers replacing their old one. ... that said, it's still not worth the time to implement, when you can pretty much already accomplish the same thing by deleting and recreating the character.

That still doesn't make any sense to me. We can't red flag 50s on people who've been playing a week and pl'd in AE and have no idea what their powers are or how to use them, so what would be the benefit of red flagging a 2+ year vet (by your criteria, with which I agree) on a respec to a different primary and/or secondary set on an old toon? I wouldn't waste my one-time "total" respec on a power set I didn't know how to play (I guess some would, but again, the red flag is a bit over the top to me given the A-D requirements you laid out).

    A. Each Character can only get ONE lifetime full respec. Make the wrong powerset choice? To bad, so sad, you lose. No going back for another attempt.
    B. You can't switch Archetypes. You originally rolled a scrapper, you can't switch to a controller, or VEAT, etc. You're stuck as a scrapper.
    C. The individual toon MUST have been created at least 24 months ago if not 36 months ago. (not sure if the game would be able to track that.)
    D. With the new Paragon Point system it would cost at least 2400 pts per character respec, if not higher.
    E. Your character title would turn red for 3 months after you did the respec, giving a warning to other players that you are probably not as familiar with your powersets as a normally leveled up toon would be.

Again, I don't think the total respec is necessary, but this may satisfy some who want/desire/"need" it.
Not crazy about E simply because the unfamiliarity with the powersets may not be true (I'd switch a secondary out and am familiar with it, just not on that toon obviously), but the rest works.
