My wife and I have 1 son together,1 year and 8 months old, which is a great age in my opinion. He's still little enough to play and rough-house with some, but hasn't quite reached the "terrible twos" yet.
My wife is pregnant with our second child right now(we don't know the gender yet.). She also has a 13 year old daughter from her previous marriage, but she lives with her father currently. -

What I've always wondered about this issue, and have never really seen any information one way or the other, is whether a merger of the markets between sides is even possible. Also, what reasons have the devs given for not doing this then if it is possible? I'm not familiar with all the particulars of the issue, and most of what I read from other players is rhetoric rather than facts. If anyone would care to break down the FACTS of this issue, I'd really appreciate it. Regardless, I'll attempt to look up old threads on it and find what info I can, but I haven't had much luck yet.

Quote:Tabik, I happened to be looking at a thread on a Fire blaster going for ranged softcap.
It was an interesting read thru. Does your blaster also Hover, or do you stay grounded for better AoE positioning ?
On a related note, Would shooting for 30%+ s/l and 30%+ ranged offer more survivability than softcap range and having s/l resistance from a toggle ? I am not saying I could get both over 30%, but I have a build somewhere on my drive that was darn close to 30% in every position.
Nope, he's a jumper. I haven't had a hovering blaster since I started playing the game. Most of my characters, regardless of AT, are also jumpers. Not really any particular tactical reason for it, that's just my play-style.
The second part of your question I'm not really sure about. Most of what I've read says that soft-capping a positional is better than having lower values in more than one, and quite honestly it would depend greatly on how you play. If you actively seek to keep enemies at range like my blaster, than the S/L defense wouldn't really come into play all that much I would think.
By the way, what was the thread about fire blasters you were reading through? I'd like to give it a look-see. -
I'm building up my Emp/Sonic with a similar goal in mind, though I'm only going to be able to achieve a little over 40% ranged defense. I've had good results with my Fire/Fire blaster doing this kind of build. He doesn't get mezzed nearly as often, and he doesn't seem nearly so squishy as he was before.

Quote:I also prefer Thunderstrike over Decimation on blasts, and the only reason I went with decimation was for the recharge. Thunderstrike is more affordable too.
I prefer Thunderstrikes as well. I usually like to put as much +accuracy and Ranged Defense into my ranged characters as possible, and Thunderstrikes fit the bill perfectly for those purposes. Them being inexpensive to buy and craft is a nice perk too. -
So your proposal is an altered Personal Force Field you can attack through, but with a reduction in defense from its current form, and at reduced accuracy. Before I can really comment on that, I wonder if you could elaborate on what kind of defense and -accuracy numbers were talking about? If any case, I don't think this is feasible without creating huge balance issues. Even at a reduced defense value, PFF would still be stackable with Dispersion Bubble and any other +Defense powers you have. Even a significant -accuracy penalty (which could be overcome with IO set bonuses easily) doesn't balance that out.

Just a small family SG I started after returning to the game to find my characters had been unceremoniously dumped from their previous SG, and the alt SG my wife and I had formed and ran was taken away from me. Yes.. I'm a little bitter about it still. I still am friends with their leaders, but none of my characters save for my first (who is still a member) will ever be joining their group again. -

What they mean to say is you're a very beautiful woman, and your husband is a very lucky man.
Anyways, I'm a utility locator (locates and marks phone, TV, and gas lines so people excavating don't damage them) from around Tulsa, Oklahoma. Originally from New York, but I moved here in 2005 to be with my girlfriend (we're now married with one son.) Not much to say beyond that. I live a pretty quiet life with my wife, son, our 2 cats, and 2 cockatiels, and I play CoH whenever I have the time between home, work, and school. -

Quote:The loyalty program will be starting in two days so if you want to get into the GR beta, nows the time to double check your sub is set up right, especially if it's not recurring!
Already took care of that a while back. Signed both my accounts up on the 6-month plan a few months back. I'm set till February at least. -
My recommendation would be to dump Shadow Bolt, and pick up Stamina. It's low damage, and you only have it 2-slotted anyway.

Quote:Hmm.. that's good to know. I was always under the impression it was a static value, but I suppose that makes sense.Yes, as with all damage, the proc will deal more because your enemy is debuffed.
However, procs are unaffected by damage buffs. So if you eat a red inspiration and then use a proc attack the damage will be the same. Likewise, the damage of the proc will be unaffected by a damage debuff (this makes them an especially popular way to deal with the -damage crash from rage). -
Quote:So... the only difference between being a hero and a Vigilante is that one gets access to both sides of content?
Why would I want to be a hero anymore?
(swap villains/rogues, same deal)
I don't know. How can anyone answer for you? :P
Seriously though, the people who would want to stay heroes would be people who don't have any interest in playing red-side at all. The same question could be posed by them, albeit worded differently: 'Why would I want to be a vigilante? I don't like CoV.'
As for why anyone who plays both sides would be compelled NOT to switch sides, I would imagine there will be some kind of perk or benefit for not switching. What those are though, I couldn't say. Just wildly speculating. -

Quote:I agree completely with your assessment, and I would add that it is exactly this that makes Emperor Cole evil. Not evil in the same way perhaps as say, Lord Recluse, but evil nonetheless. To me Praetoria and the Rogue Isles are two extremes on the same scale. Praetoria is ruled by a despot who forces the citizenry to live as he sees fit, because it will keep them safe, but adversely robbing them of their free will. The Rogue Isles, on the other hand, are the exact antithesis of that principle, representing essentially a dictatorial anarchy. You have a certain degree of freedom, so long as you don't cross Recluse.I think it's more likely to be along the lines of him knowing what's "right" for the world, and being totally ruthless in trying to force his vision onto the world - I kinda expect him to be more cold, and arrogant, and lacking any sort of empathy for the people he's claiming to protect - like any one who doesn't share his view is a threat, becasue his "vision" is what saved the world, so anyone not in total sync with his mindset is a threat to the whole world, and should be dealt with in whatever way best protects Praetoria and the future of his world.
Quote:I think that's because the Praetorians came out some time before CoV - so it's possible that Tyrant was going to be the main "mine is an evil laugh" ruler of a run down and dirty fascist empire, but the devs decided to remake the idea as Recluse and the Rogue Isles - so sticking to the original feel and look of the Praetorians would have maybe made them too similar to what we got in CoV, so they've deciced to develop a new theme on another type of evil empire and its ruler.
This is a likely possibility. -
Quote:I just figured that with AB, she'd be at the Regen/Recovery Cap anyway..
Not likely, at least in terms of Regen. I used to duo my Claws/Regen scrapper with my wife's Emp, and he doesn't reach the cap with his standing regen (Integration, Health, and Fast Healing) + Instant Healing + AB + Regen Aura, at least I have no reason to believe he does. If I'm wrong, someone more knowledgable feel free to correct me, but my understanding was that the Regen cap can't be easily reached (assuming there even is a cap). AB's recovery though, is definately overkill unless used to help a blaster recover from a nuke crash. -
Quote:While defenders do so many different things, two things hold true; you can't defend when you're mezzed or face planted. Although people will scream and cry I'd say as an inherent, give Defenders mez resistance, much lower than AM, but still significant. I'd also suggest that their hit points be upped across the board.
Wouldn't this be of greater benefit to Rad/ defenders than any other kind then (as they would be able to stack the inherent mez resist with AM)? I like the idea, but I don't see how it can be executed fairly and evenly.
I do agree with an HP boost though. While perhaps not too much of a help overall, I don't see how it hurts either. If I'm not mistaken, defenders are tied with controllers for lowest base HP (excluding Khelds, I forget where they fall), so a slight boost could be given without doing much harm I think. -
