After looking it up on City of Data, Super Speed gives 35ft which is suppressed in combat. Cloaking Device gives 35ft, and 20ft is suppressed in combat. My confusion originated from Mids' only showing 15ft in the power info tab.

Having stealth that doesn't suppress when in combat does not really have any practical advantage. Once critters are aware of your presence, no amount of stealth will help you avoid getting attacked.

It all depends on how you measure yourself. If you want to do damage and tank, Stone Armor is a bad choice. If all you care about is staying alive and holding aggro, nothing beats Stone Armor. Before I continue, I should mention that almost any tanker set can get the job done under the right circumstances. Teammates' buffs, heals, and inspirations can make any set work anywhere. Stone Armor's advantage is that it almost never needs to rely on outside buffs, and usually doesn't need healing.

Invulnerability is overrated. It is great against S/L damage, but against anything else it is about as good as any defense-based set. Pure ranged energy damage looks like it will be a major threat in Incarnate content if they continue with these swarms of Praetorian Clockwork we have been seeing so far. That doesn't mean Invulnerability is doomed.

If you want a set that gets you close to Granite Armor's survivability without sacrificing damage, Electric Armor is the next best thing. It has the potential to reach the S/L resistance cap, and stacking defense from IO sets can make it as tough as Invulnerability or Stone vs S/L damage.
  3. I'm not too sure about Kinetic Melee. It seems like just another damage set, overall. Its special effect doesn't seem that great to me.

Between Willpower and Regen, I would pick Willpower for PvE. I don't PvP and don't know anything about it. Regeneration can only heal, and by iteself, it isn't enough to keep you alive when fighting groups of enemies. Willpower reduces the damage you take so that the healing can keep up. It is ultimately up to you, though.
  4. There are only a few debuffs that ignore defense debuff resistance. Lady Winter's is the only one that I can think of right now.
  5. Stealth procs are exclusive. Once you slot one, you can't slot more in your build (ex. one in hover/fly and one in sprint).

Combining a stealth proc with a stealth-granting power is good enough to never be noticed by all NPCs who don't have perception buffs. Devices' Cloaking Device power does not add much stealth, so I would doubt its effectiveness for obtaining complete invisibility to critters. Super Speed is a popular choice for combining with a stealth proc because most people get Hasten.

    At a dilemma...

Both Super Strength and Stone Melee have AoE knockdowns. That will be your biggest advantage when in defensive armors instead of Granite Armor. They both lack AoE damage, though. Super Strength is the obvious winner at single-target damage.

If you want shards, it is best to team up. You get a chance for a shard for each enemy killed, and that chance does not change when you add people to your team, unlike other drops. A team of players can kill MUCH faster than a solo player.
  7. Char can hold some nice sets. Basilisk's Gaze is nice for recharge, and Lockdown is nice for defense.

I have experience with 32.5% defense builds and I am the same way. I don't usually need to use an inspiration unless things get very rough. That's why I said you wasted defense by going to 38% instead of stopping at 32.5%.

Hamidon is not broken. It is designed to bypass all of your defense and resistances. The only mitigation that works is healing, regeneration, and Essence of Earth inspirations. Knowing the strategy is important too.

The only noticeable negative thing is that HF heals for about 30 points less. Other than that, same damage, same recharge, same res....but along with being 1 purple away from 45%.

Anyway, thanks again for all the advice!
In most content, all of the defense from 32.5% to 38% is wasted when you use that purple. Those are set bonuses that you could have used to increase defense in other areas, or improve survivability in another way, or increase global recharge.

You also left yourself vulnerable to incarnate content. Most of it is ranged energy damage, so far. That doesn't look like it will change in I20.

Having both S/L defense and Melee defense high doesn't do you much good because most melee attacks have S/L damage in them. You could have increased ranged defense, or E/N defense if you went for 32.5% in one category and optimized your set bonuses.
  10. The tier 4 45% recharge Alpha puts you .013 seconds away from doing FU->Focus->Slash, which does 188.56 DPS (possibly more if FU can be triple-stacked) with the new proc.

FU->Focus->Eviscerate is not possible. It requires a 2.376s recharge which would require 405% recharge bonus on the power. You would literally have to get 100% more global recharge. I suppose if you had 2 SB's or 3 AM's, you could do it with a slight pause in the chain.
  11. The influence cap is 2 billion. These days, that won't get you more than 2-3 damage set purples from the AH. Don't worry, though. It isn't hard to make enough INF in this game to buy those. It just takes time. Spending Hero Merits will allow you to sell expensive IOs on the AH so you can buy purples if that is your goal.

Right now, you have only SO's. Planning a build around IOs almost always results in more endurance, recharge, and survivability. You have to choose which one you want to focus on, though.

With Electric Melee, you won't really do much more DPS than you're doing now. A little global recharge would help get Lightning Strike to recharge faster, but don't expect big damage from your build. Figuring out an attack chain would help you optimize your attacks that you take and use. Search these forums for threads on attack chains.

Increasing resistance through IOs is a futile effort and results in a poor build, usually. Damage bonus is also a futile effort because you can reduce your recharge more to make build-up recharge faster for more overall damage.

Increasing defense to worthwhile levels is much easier and will make your character feel invincible if done right. The key points to reach are 20%, 32.5%, or 45%. The "soft cap" is 45%, and having 32.5% or 20% puts you in range of hitting the soft cap with 1 or 2 small inspirations, respectively. The categories of defense depend on how much offense you want in your build. Going for S/L and E/N gets you the bare minimum coverage, while melee + ranged + AoE covers almost everything. Those aren't the only options, but you should know that gaining defense through sets usually means sacrificing global recharge bonus because most sets don't have both.

My suggestion is to aim for enough recharge for a decent attack chain and get one of those defense levels I mentioned so you can survive almost anything. A dead Scrapper does no damage, but a well-built Scrapper can solo AVs.

I didn't include the downtime between double-stacks because that can be eliminated with a Tier 4 Spiritual Alpha. I didn't include Rage crash damage penalty either. I guess I should.

    So, every 20 seconds out of 120 you would do 10% damage. 306 x (120 - 18)/120 = 260.1

I guess that penalty hurts a lot more than I thought it would. After considering it, I will probably stick with my Scrapper for DPS. Very impressive that a Tanker can solo a TF, though.
  13. I did some calculations on your build. Using Jab -> KO Blow -> Burn -> Haymaker -> Foot Stomp as an attack chain, I came out with an average of 262 DPS. That was averaged with Fiery Embrace's uptime vs downtime. It also assumed Rage would be double-stacked at all times, which isn't quite the case with your build. Still, it compares well to my DM/SD Scrapper's 313 potential DPS attack chain with Soul Drain and AAO fully saturated.

I think I may make a FA/SS Tanker now. It doesn't depend on any conditions (10 enemies in range) for doing Scrapper-level DPS. With only one enemy in range, my Scrapper only does 221 DPS and a lot of AV fights end up like that.

Edit: Jab -> KO Blow -> Gloom -> Burn -> Haymaker -> Foot Stomp came out to 273 DPS
Edit again: Replacing the foot stomp with a second Gloom came out to 306 DPS

That changes things then. I recalculated it and came up with 181.70 DPS for the original attack chain. Basically, you are using the best attack chain you can use. When Fury is low, Follow-Up makes your first attack chain better DPS than the one I proposed. When Fury is high, using Follow-Up does not make as dramatic of a difference in DPS as I originally thought.

If you want to do more DPS, make a Scrapper instead. Using the same enhancements and attacks in a blank build, I came up with 182.02 DPS on a Scrapper. The build only had 6.5% global damage bonus instead of the 11.5% in your complete build, so that would boost it a bit more. A Scrapper would start off at high damage without having to build Fury. A Scrapper would also have critical chance which is not factored into the DPS calculation, but would be a significant boost. If you don't have great kinetics teamed with you who can keep your Brute at the damage cap, a Scrapper would do more DPS than a Brute with some damage buffs from teammates.
  15. Vigilantes count as Heroes. Rogues count as Villains. If your SG is Hero, you can use the base as a Vigilante. There are other restrictions on Hero/Villain that use those rules, like Ouroboros and certain missions.
  16. You can remove the slots, but you may not want to. The higher you go up the tiers of the Alpha slot, the more of its bonus bypasses ED. For some builds, this could make the difference. My DM/SD Scrapper went from a 6-second downtime on Hasten to less than 1 second when I upgraded to the tier 4. It would be bad to take a slot out of Hasten after that.
  17. I think you should get rid of Follow-Up in your attack chain. As a Brute, your damage bonus from Fury makes Follow-Up's damage bonus almost a negligible damage increase.

    Without FU:
    100 damage attack X (150% fury damage + 95% enhanced damage + 100% base) = 345 damage

    With FU:
    100 damage attack X (150% fury damage + 95% enhanced damage + 60% double-FU 100% base) = 405 damage = 17.4% increased damage

The best single target attack chain for you would start with Focus, then include 2-3 of Shockwave, Strike, and Slash because they are basically the same DPA.

All calculations were done with 75% fury.
Your current attack chain, FU -> Focus -> Slash -> Strike is 137.13 DPS with FU double-stacked
Focus -> Strike -> Slash would be 185.72 DPS in your build

Follow-Up is definitely LOWERING your DPS.

I'm not sure how you got 180 DPS out of your attack chain. Did you include the -res proc? Did you use Arcanatime or the listed animation times?

  19. I ALWAYS go to Firebase Zulu. They are level 37-38. You can get a group of lowbies to help you if you advertise in channels. If one person on the team kills one, it counts for everyone on the team, so tell them to spread out to the different islands.

It depends on what you want to do with the character.

I wanted my character to be the ultimate tank for any situation. The only secondary that has any real impact in an AV fight is Dark Melee because of the heal.

Seriously. Her endurance never falls below 90% naturally. With enemies actively sapping her endurance? It rarely, if ever, drops below 50%. Malta? Pushovers.
As a Regen, you should be able to do that without the Cardiac. I would think the Spiritual would be better for you since it improves your regeneration if you pick the one with healing bonus.

That 45% is not a straight 45% damage increase. It is added to your damage bonus, along with enhancements and any other buffs you may have. If you have 200% damage bonus (enhancements + build up) you will only get about 10% extra damage out of the tier 4 Musculature.
  23. Is this a worthy use of the Cardiac Ultra-Rare?

    Does it count...

I soloed the rikti AV at the end of LGTF the other day. I think I made some people in my group mad at me for not working as a team. I was just testing the limits of my build and nobody had stealth + teleport, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to get the mission objective going.
  25. Your build seems to be more focused on damage than tanking on teams in Granite form. While in Granite form, your F/C/E/N defenses are horrible compared to what they should be. Even without Granite, you aren't set up very well.. You hit the S/L soft cap but fall short on E/N with only 28.6%. I strongly reccomend making two builds. One can be for doing DPS and staying out of Granite. The other can be for tanking on teams. Look at my other post on a Stone Armor build recently if you want to see some example builds for Granite tanking.
