Not quite that geeky.
If I said 80's cartoon robots, that'd probably be giving too much away... whoops.

You forgot "Copy of Angling Times"
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, not a fishing reference.Think robots.
No, really. -

I took firebreath as it's short range and so i could actually have an attack chain
[/ QUOTE ]
It's a damn narrow, short cone though. Having an attack chain with Firebreath in restricts you to dancing around melee, pretty much - not so bad in PvE, but a little restrictive in PvP. Sometimes I find it difficult to fire Blaze off against a moving target, which has about twice the range of Fire Breath IIRC.
[ QUOTE ]
I took fluffy because of chill of the night, his FPAoE (fluffy based area of effect) which gives a darkest night strength accuracy debuff. That helps with all the close ranged stuff to, so it should be pretty safe. SHould be...
[/ QUOTE ]
Again, sounds more useful PvE than PvP... but I'd not deny anyone their own pet Fluffy.
Other points to think about...
Twilight Grasp is a damn good heal and a damned good debuff - I'd slot at least a RecRed in there.
Tar Patch doesn't really need that many slows - especially not when...
... Fire Breath and Blaze have so few slots. No RecReds? -

WHERE SPEED BOOST MONKEH GONE? GENERICVILLAIN SAD
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
The one problem I've found with fire/dark is that the odd fire resistant mob will give you truly horrific times solo. I'd pick up Air Sup just for that (well ok, and some other stuff).
[/ QUOTE ]
Tar Patch gives as instant -20% Res, though, and Darkest Night is nice for the -Dam component. To be honest, I haven't found that many problems with Fire Resistant mobs with Fire/Kin yet (gogo Siphon Power), I used to go hunting Damned for fun. -
[ QUOTE ]
It's also helped you that you've had a couple of brutes in the SG to SK you up on a regular basis for Speed Boost.
[/ QUOTE ]
... and Transfusion, ID, and Siphon Power. Such is the wonder of /Kin. \o/ Plus, that's only been since level 20, and when Petting was on - if it'd have been a half-reliable Brute, I'd be at 40 by now.
Since I put SO's in, though, the Fire primary has more than held its own in battle against any kind of foe. The only real problem, as ever, is mez-protection and the lack of it. -
Eh, I built my Fire/Kin for PvP from the ground up - some levels have been tricky as a result, but it's been fairly rapid progress since I stuck SOs in a few strategic slots... after having scrimped and saved my way through the game thus far.
(I actually went from 28 to 29 in a couple of hours of what I didn't consider to be particularly frantic gameplay.)
I'd like to play a Fire/Dark, but I don't really have the inclination to play two Fire/* Corruptors. Sonic/Dark would be an interesting combo, but that build really is gasping for slots. -
I suppose I should have posted in here a long time ago, but I guess I got distracted.
Battle Drones:
Hook
Line
Sinker
Protector Bots:
Smash
Grab
Assault Bot:
Bridger
Kudos to anyone who can figure out the geek reference of the Drones; the PBots are so named because of their initial love of charging and beating the enemy barehanded back in beta; the AssBot started off being so named as a joke... but seeing as he loves to stomp around angrily and flame things, it seemed to fit so nicely I was loathe to change it. -
In terms of primaries, I'd advise from Fire, Ice, Energy, Sonic, Rad in that order. They're all good on their own terms - Fire is just silly at times, you already know about Ice
, Energy is solid with KB, Sonic has -Res, and Rad gives -Def... the last 3 are all on a par, pretty much.
In terms of secondary, you'll be looking at either Kin, Dark, or Rad to optimise your damage output. Kinetics has awesome self and team buffs, Dark has great control (and -Res in Tar Patch), and Rad gets Accelerate Metabolism and two potent toggles (including -Res in Enervating Field) with some control on top.
I don't think you could go wrong with a Fire/Dark or a Fire/Kin, personally, if you're wanting big orange numbers. The hardest part of playing a Corruptor is in deciding what to take, and where to spread your slots, I've found.

Is there any way to make siphon speed last longer (what should I slot it with to do so?)
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, it has a set duration. You can slot it with Recharge Reductions in order to make it more available, and it does stack for extra speed.
[ QUOTE ]
Does slotting knockback into energy attacks make it happen more often?
[/ QUOTE ]
Nope, it just increases the amount of knockback that happens when it does connect.
[ QUOTE ]
Can siphon speed replace a travel power, or should I get one and then respec into inertial reduction at level 28?
[/ QUOTE ]
I got my Fire/Kin to level 28 with using only Siphon Speed, then I picked up Hover at 28, adding 2 extra slots at 29. It's frustrating when Siphon Speed misses, though. -
Most amusing PvP moments...
In the Arena
Cannon Fodder vs Also Rans, in the S4 competition. As a precursor to the tale, David Pyrons - our erstwhile Controller - had made it a personal crusade to get as leathered as he could before each S4 match, for good luck. Well, he might not have done, but that's certainly how it appeared to the rest of us.Halfway through the match, and with the Also Rans getting the upper hand for the first time, we managed to split Cannon Fodder up and chase them around the godawful cave map. I'd just taken down their Blaster, and rounded a corner to see two figures dashing past, followed by an array of pets of various sizes... so naturally, I followed. Turning the corner, I was greeted with the sight of Kaya backed into a corner, being wailed on mercilessly by a tribe of angry fire imps, with Pyrons weaving around and throwing in the occasional attack whilst Kaya's Phantasm and Decoy danced around playing grabass at the other side of the corridor. There's no sight quite like 12 angry monkeys leaping up and down on a defenceless controller to make you forget what the hell you're supposed to be doing.
In PvP Zones
Playing as Syn, I'd pretty much just logged into CoH in Sirens when a Brute on half a bar of Health blindsided me - I managed to get away, stacked Web Grenades, Caltrops, and Ignite, then Flamethrowered ftw. Being an AR/Dev, I'm not used to such easy kills, so I flew up to a nearby rooftop to do a /whoall of the zone... not 5 minutes later, the same Brute comes back, calls me the usual, and tries to engage me - so I flew just out of his jumping range. Damned if he doesn't keep jumping at me in the same position for the next minute, shouting abuse all the while. More than a little amused, I do what any sane AR/Dev would do - I click 'Sniper Rifle'. The ensuing shot drops him out of the air and away from the edge of the building, causing him to land in a heap on the road below. "omgz u cheeting *****, y dont u cm ere an fite liek a man u wimp??!!!!" Click 'TP Foe', watch him drop down to the ground again. "wwwwaaasssdwtff!"!2!!1" Still amused, but getting bored, I decide to go Stalker-hunting for fun and profit... but this guy just won't leave me alone - wherever I go, he's there within two seconds, effing and blinding. Getting slightly tired, what with a number of my targets leaving the zone , I toggle on Cloaking Device and go over to Hero Base to cash out for a couple of insps. "yeh run away u *****, ill kill u if u come outta ther," comes the cry from a nearby rooftop. As the diatribe continued, I flew up and above, and waited. "if i c u agen ill beat ur as-" was about as far as he got before he got taken off his feet, and away from the edge of the building onto the ground by another Sniper Rifle shot. Livid, he SJd back over the building, and back over in my direction... when his trajectory placed him right next to a Police Drone. At that point, I left. -
[ QUOTE ]
And less Gat bashingHe did hunt squishies in S4 as it was a sound tactic for the competition, but i bet if you run into him in a PvP zone, he'll give you a run for your money solo
[/ QUOTE ]
I think maybe you should read over the thread before getting defensive - at no point has anyone said that squishie-hunting is a bad tactic in group arena matches, and at no point has anyone "bashed" Gat either - quite the opposite in fact. We're just stating that basing anything off the S4 competition is inherently flawed. -
[ QUOTE ]
These will disappear after a couple of hours, they arent worth trading or saving.
[/ QUOTE ]
Considering I had Ambrosia in my Insp tray for 4 months after the first time I ran the Eden trial, I'm going to make a wild stab in the dark and say you're so wrong it hurts.
Add to that, I also have (new! fresh! unlikely to disappear!) Ambrosia in my tray now - anybody wants it, give me a shout on @Syn. -
[ QUOTE ]
can't see why every1 needs to pick at things but if a blaster is attacking another player with shields after i5 and 6 they have less resistance,
[/ QUOTE ]
Stopping you right there, if you'd seen - or been in- any of FSA's matches, you'd know that Gat picked up the role of the (very effective) squishie-hunter, which is part of the basis of my reasoning.
FYI, I "pick at things" because I'm keen on accuracy, no more and no less. -
[ QUOTE ]
every1 has been affected by i5, i6 and ED so his kill ratio to others would still be around the same level
[/ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
But as I numbercrunched a lot more in those days, and in comparison to what I know now there's no way you can get the same results out of your Blaster build.
[/ QUOTE ]
Pretty much as Coffee said, it doesn't scale down quite like that - not only does the lack of perma-Hasten have a serious impact on Blaster damage, Damage enhancements being in a different bracket from DamRes enhancements were more affected by the effective 'capping' at 3. -
[ QUOTE ]
take gatling for example, after repeated debates on the forums most people think ice/energy and fire/energy blasters are the best, yet look at his stats in s4 with elec/energy
[/ QUOTE ]
Not to take anything away from Gatling, who I've had the pleasure of teaming with in PvE and against in PvP, but his stats in the S4 competition - much like everybody else's stats in the S4 competition - are no basis for comparison in the realities of PvP at the current point in time, for a few good reasons... those being I5, I6, and more importantly, ED. (Not only do those changes make a significant difference to damage output, but also to the tactics that the FSA were using in the competition.) Syn picked up 30 kills in the Also-Rans' first match - I seriously doubt I'd be able to do the same if a similar event were to occur now.
If you want to point to Gat as a good example of an Elec/Energy in his own right, do so by all means; using S4 as a rule by which to measure anything in today's PvP is going to lead to inaccurate conclusions, however, even if I do agree with your general point of the player being more important than the powerset. -
Not going by what would make the most "uber" pairing, but I've always enjoy taking my En/En Blapper out on patrol with my gf's Ill/Rad - Phantom Army are great for grabbing and holding aggro when used properly, AM is great for pumping out that extra damage, and the rest of the Rad secondary makes up for the lack of real control in Illusion.
-
FWIW, I've seen an Ice/Dark Corruptor take down an Ice Tank. You're not invulnerable.

I'll just think you're lame if you do. Capiche?
[/ QUOTE ]
No smacktalk please.
[/ QUOTE ]
Seeing as I'm talking in the abstract (i.e. x is y if z happens) and not in the direct (i.e. "omgz ur lame"), I suggest you take yourself somewhere you're relevant.
[ QUOTE ]
ps. Am I the only person who thinks its rude to call someone lame. Seems to be a lot of it going on.

See above. -

On Issue 1 , one blaster with Smoke Grenade could solo a 8 man mission :P

Fixed. -
I have both Sonic Cage and Sonic Disruption on one of my 'trollers, and wouldn't be without them.
-
[ QUOTE ]
(I want us to have all the same secondary ideally and the leadership pool)
[/ QUOTE ]
I've said it before, and I'll say it again - any single-secondary-AT group is always going to suffer from a lack of balance, will have holes in their defence, and will always be exploitable in PvP to a greater or lesser degree based on that.
Personally, I think a team comprised of 2 /Son, 2 /Cold, and 4/Kin would be fairly rounded and pretty damn scary to face. -
[ QUOTE ]
2) Corruptors - With the epics ( ie defences ) i'm sure my ice/kin corruptor can go toe to toe with a kinetic defender, or almost any other AT for that matter.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd be surprised if your Ice/Kin couldn't down a Regen Scrapper, Seri - with a breakfree or two, anyway. -
[ QUOTE ]
Ah ok so that's why you're posting about it on a forum calling ppl lame? Cuz' you couldn't give a rats [censored]? Yeah, ofc ^^
[/ QUOTE ]
I posted about it on the CoH(EU) forum a) because someone posited the question of inspiration use in PvP; b) because I'm at work and have no better way to while away the hours except by posting on these selfsame forums. I post on a lot of subjects, on a lot of different issues; this is no more worthy of my attention than anything else, nor is it anything I give much consideration to - it just so happens that I have an opinion on it, and you're entitled to it.
To clarify my position, seeing as you seem incapable of grasping it thus far: I don't abuse inspirations; I don't care if you pump inspirations like popcorn - I'll just think you're lame if you do. Capiche? -

maybe the part that licks windows?
[/ QUOTE ]
Can't agree, purely on the basis that Windowlicker is one of my favourite tracks.
