Aid self needs a tad nerf, as in increasing the recharge, it's avalable way too often.

    [/ QUOTE ]
And much like some of the other people in this thread, it would appear that Power Boost in the Energy Manip secondary needs a nerf, possibly in the way of not having a +heal component.

Nerfing Aid Self itself would only unfairly impact the other builds that use it, and give /En more of an advantage by them being able to boost the amount healed, with the recharge times remaining comparative; that is, although all Aid Self users would be nerfed, /En Blasters, and some Controllers and Defenders would have a greater advantage because of Power Boost.
  2. [ QUOTE ]
nope, FYI i don't run there anymore

    [/ QUOTE ]
Key word - as you did repeatedly at the time.
  3. [ QUOTE ]
actually i killed you once elude dropped while u were heading for the hills.

    [/ QUOTE ]
But I never ran to the safe zone like you, did I?
  4. [ QUOTE ]
I would say that the villain inherents (Domination being a big one) are one of the tradeoffs for not having some of the specific Ancillary powers

    [/ QUOTE ]
True, Scourge is far more useful and powerful than Defiance (not that I'm drawing a straight comparison between Corruptors and Blasters). Likewise, under the right conditions, Fury is an awesome inherent - I don't anything else that can down a Scrapper in the space of a few attacks.
  5. [ QUOTE ]
all those npc were hitting me with their psi damage slowing me,

    [/ QUOTE ]
All 3 Rogue Fortunatas, who were attacking once in a blue moon whenever you ran into them? That must have been crippling.

Stop making excuses. I'm not interested in 1v1s, in the Arena, PvP Zones, or anywhere - and I said as much at the time. You repeatedly called me out, I eventually accepted - and you lost. Again, I suggest you heed my advice not to indulge in hypothetical victories.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
you want a one on one in the arena, it's diffrent in the zones you've got distractions npc's hitting you and so on, i'd would never ever get killed by a claw scrapper in a one on one in the arena, sorry i can't see this happening.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Are you saying that even Aid-Self can't save you against a lowly Claws Scrapper in the zones - even with Power Boost?

Guess it doesn't need a nerf, then.

(FWIW, I've not taken Aid Self with my /En Blapper, so I don't have any vested interest in it being nerfed or otherwise. The only conclusion I can see coming from this discussion is that Power Boost in the /Energy Manip secondary needs nerfing.)
  7. [ QUOTE ]
Dominators get a lot less benefit out of Powerboost compared to some of the Hero AT's.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I wouldn't say that Dominators get less benefit from it - for some Doms, it can affect both primary and secondary when active, which is more than some CoH toons who have it - but it's true that it doesn't benefit a team as much to have a Powerboosted Dominate or Bonesmasher as it would a Powerboosted Regen Aura, for most situations.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
spyka good luck killing my blaster with your scrapper, all i have to to is bounce of power boost aid self, only way is if yo uget a lucky critical hit in on me

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty damn sure Stalk can kill you with his Scrapper, seeing as I managed to drop you 1v1 with my Claws/SR pre-17 - that is, with toggle-drops, without Claws changes. As I recall, you were using Power Boost>Aid Self every 20 seconds then, and I still dropped you (without Eluding, without using Insps, with you dipping into the safe zone every so often). If I were you, I'd be careful about claiming hypothetical victories.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
    Forge
    Heat Exhaustion
    Benumb
Infrigidate (and find me another tier 1 power that's as good as this)
Energy Transfer (I know tanks can get it, but on Stalkers it's ridiculous)
    Kuji-in-Retsu

There are a few which are overlooked as well, such as Poison Gas Trap.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Frostwork also deserves a place on that list, as well as the debuffs in /Poison - Envenom, Weaken - that Filth mentioned.
  10. [ QUOTE ]
So they're inside the safe zone all the time?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Go there and see for yourself, don't just take my word for it. Usually, they hover around the periphery of the safe zone, run in to fire 2-3 attacks on a heavily damaged target, then bounce back into safety. Essentially, they're untrappable most of the time.

    [ QUOTE ]
Use it to pull away from the beach before you start attacking, do it smartly and they will be disoriented and not know where to run to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't know where you get the idea that TP Foe is some all-triumphing strategy, but as both an early user of TP Foe in PvP (since the arenas first came in), and someone who's been TP Foed repeatedly, I can tell you that it isn't. For a start, most travel powers will get you far away from your TPer before you can get your first attack off, and that means they'll probably be at least halfway back to the safe zone - and that's presuming you've slotted TP Foe with 3 Range.

    [ QUOTE ]
As for being a newbie to Warburg, I PvP'ed myself to a nuke earlier today. Does that answer your question?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I spent about 4 hours in WB in total yesterday getting nukes, and mostly helping others to get nukes - didn't see a scrap of PvP in the entire time I was in there. I've seen /Dev Blasters Telemining their way to nukes, but I wouldn't consider that PvP either. Are these the answers I was supposed to be coming up with?

just one type, just one hit.

Check the screenie, you can see it's the only strike

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's hard to tell exactly whether there's a bug here from the single shot of the log.

The attack that defeated you was a snipe. It's possible that, at the time the attack was started, you were not at full health (making you vulnerable to being taken down with a single hit) and were then healed before the animation completed (by which time you were at full health).

(This assumes that Snipes, like most attacks, are calculated at the time the attack is started, not at the time the animation connects - I believe this is how they work, but I could be wrong.)

Or, it could be a bug. If there is it, would probably be specific to that attack or that AV - I haven't heard of a widespread problem with AVs and the 'one hit' code.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Just going to quickly jump into this thread to report that I experienced a one-shot death during our run of the Recluse SF yesterday, which made me think of SV's post.

In my case we'd just mostly wiped after taking out Citadel; I Bounced Back, popped a BF, 1 Take a Breather and 3 Dramatic Improvements, then waited around the bodies of most of my fallen comrades to rez them with Howling Twilight after Synapse minced around the corner - figuring that I'd rez them at the expense of my own debt, as I couldn't be one-shotted, and HT would come through regardless.

I hit HT, and then Synapse one-shotted me for 1.3k damage (I can check my logs for the exact amount), causing HT to fail as my 832 HP didn't stand up to the blast. There were no additional ticks of damage in my combat tab, the animation didn't obviously look like a snipe (and couldn't have been activated when I was on <100% HP anyway, as he only attacked after I hit HT), I was easily at 100% HP but I fell in one shot anyway - which left me just a little annoyed, given I'd run through a column-and-a-bit of inspirations to die in a manner that wasn't meant to be technically possible. I did /bug it on the way back from hospital, so hopefully it's something that will get looked at and resolved for the future.

i would suggest though that pulling is a far easier way once you've got the hang of it =)

    [/ QUOTE ]
As 'cel said, the Vindicators mission was a great example of how bumrushing works effectively - after a couple of false starts (nerves, KS hitting 'R' instead of 'W'... ) we charged in headlong and took down all 5 (well, 6 if you count Valkyrie's rez) in one fell swoop (Malaise, Swan, Luminary, Mynx, Valkyrie, Valkyrie). It was probably the most exhilarating fight I've had in CoV (and I've soloed and defeated the Eye of the Leviathan AV after a teamwipe), and would definitely recommend it to anyone to at least try once.

I think that tactic works best for teams with multiple strong AoE heals; we had 2 /Kin Corrs, 1 /Dark Corr, and 1/Dark MM, which was especially good seeing as the heals are also debuffs. It would probably have worked even better with 2 Brutes, but we still made it with just the one. Henchman damage was negligible too, as most pets were completely wiped out within the first minute by Valkyrie and Mynx's AoEs, and I was pretty much focused on debuffing. The strat didn't work as well as I'd been expecting on the final mission, but there were multiple factors that could have explained that, fatigue being the most likely cause.

I would like to come along for one of your Pulling runs, that said, if only to see it in action. I have some other theories in the pipeline as well, but they'll have to wait another 27 levels before I can see if they'll work.

    Let the fury commence

    [/ QUOTE ]
And the fury did indeed commence.

    Great work, everyone.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
Teleport Foe is available to everyone but Peacebringers.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yet again, we're not complaining about people running, just people running into the safe zone. TP Foe doesn't work against characters within the boundaries of the safe zone (at least not for your faction). Have you ever actually PvPed in Warburg, because you seem to be missing the entire point of this thread?
  15. [ QUOTE ]
If you don't fight near the safe zone then you don't have the problem. If they never leave the proximity of the safe zone then they won't accomplish much beyond earning the "time in zone"-badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Seeing as you appear to have had some trouble in managing to read it the first time around:

    [ QUOTE ]
but you have to go where the people are if you want to PvP.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If I go sit resolutely atop the Globe in WB, I also "won't accomplish much beyond earning the "time in zone"-badge". The best I can do is try to drag people back into the island with me, which is usually to no avail if there's the usual retinue of 5 regens sat making sandcastles on the beach - as new people entering the zone will also (naturally) gravitate to where the action is, even if the action is dull and predictable.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
If you can't prevent your opponent from running away then you do not deserve the kill.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I don't know what level of 'skill' you'd have to possess to be able to prevent someone from running the 50 yards between the beach and the safe zone every time they risk reaching 50% health. That's part of why I dislike fighting so close to Nub Beach, but you have to go where the people are if you want to PvP.

    WEASEL DID IT!

    Weasel is a dirty sellout.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
    Powerboost -> beanbag
Hasten + 2/3 recharge in beanback = perma stun boss.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You still have to wait about 8 seconds for the boss to be stunned, though; with /En, he should be nearly totalled in that space of time.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
Isn't stun high enough mag to get a boss alone?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Not from my experience, but it's enough to dizzy Lts - much like Taser from /Devices. Total Focus has a chance (80%?) to crit to disorient Bosses, however.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
Gotten rid of the GG pet peeve of Teleport pool and the later version's Superjump for some more traditional movement.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oddly enough, I just respecced the Doctor into CJ/SJ/Acro after having had SS for over a year (I4-S4 build with 6-slotted Hasten ftw) - not so much for PvP reasons, more that I was getting really fed up with being spun around with Hover in the middle of groups of mobs whilst trying to take out bosses (Rikti, Council, etc). I did pencil SS back in at 49, though. I found trying to chase people with Hover somewhat frustrating - the best 3-D chase (and escape, for that matter) combo is Hover+TP, and whilst I did consider it from a PvP standpoint, I opted instead for the utility in PvE missions.

    [ QUOTE ]
    Stun or Bitter Freeze Ray?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I'd say Stun, given the animation on BFR (not that Stun is the quickest, but...). Plus, with Powerboost and slotting FR 2 Acc, 2 Rechg, 2 Hold and Hasten going, I think (?) you should be able to hold bosses; with Stun and a bit of luck from Bonesmasher/Energy Punch (or Total Focus when you get it) you'll be able to disorient them too. I prefer having the utility of both open to me, plus Stun is an assured method of dropping Acrobatics on squishies.

    [ QUOTE ]
The 32/35 power pool is making me a bit worried

    [/ QUOTE ]
I decided not to go for the standard of Stim-or-Aid Other/Aid Self with Gonz - Powerboost+Aid Self is so cliched for */En Blappers at this point, it almost makes me cry. I rarely enjoy soloing in PvP with him (I have my uber Claws/SR for that, jeje), and in a team situation I won't be expected to sit there and heal myself, I'll be expected to do damage. Instead, I went with Grant Invis/Invis - it works better in PvE than PvP, but still lets you catch the drop on people if you're quick about it, and Grant Invis has the benefit of keeping teammates, especially squishies, from being number one target. (And with the extra slots that frees up, I can now 6-slot Power Thrust with 2 Acc, 1 Rechg, 3 Kback for great amusement value ) Of course, YMMV.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
Anybody who tells me to remove M30 Grenade will be exterminated.

    ... your toon, your trainwreck.

I'm surprised there's no inclusion of Stun for a Beanbag+Stun guaranteed boss disorient.
