I havent read through the entire thread. If this has been covered ahead of time, I do appologize.
CoX has had a presense at various electronic gaming shows. And that is good. But, i dont know if that is really reaching new audiences. Chances are, if folks are at an E-show. They already know about the game.
CoX is a game about superheroes. And you mostly see superheroes in comics. Maybe have a bigger presense at some of the larger Comic Conventions around the country. -
Amen to that! Just kill rewards from MA so the manpower and resources that constantly are used to 'fix' MA can be put back in actually giving us REAL content in a semi-timely fashion!
-
All kidding aside. How great and wonderful has MA been anyways? For all of it's praised glory. How much time and resources have been spent 'fixing' it every freaking issue since? How much more stuff would we have in the game if so much time wasnt wasted fixing the damned thing?

This just proves, once again, the devs hate villains. When DP's were coming out. All these expoits were online AND they got a double XP weekend.
But, now that the 'villain-only' (atleast until GR) Demon Summoning is coming out. They are squashing all the exploits and no double XP weekend for them!
*de-activate sarcasm* -
Hmm, I like the look of the new demons. Make me wanna braek out my Time Bandits DvD... LoL

This isnt a mission. Just a populated club map that I made for RP purposes and decided to share. I couldnt find if anyone else had done something like this. I am not a wiz at costuming and if anyone wants to send me any toons with clubbie kind outfits to add to the variety of clubgoers, please do. My e-mail is raverbane@gmail.com

Quote:I share your pain in that. On redside, it is fairly easy. Since there are really only eight porters to worry about. (I know there are nine. But, the Mr. Monk in me likes to keep things even and there are so many ways to get to RWZ. Who needs to waste a base porter on it?)I like the arcane teleporters well enough, but I HATE the arcane beacons. Just cannot stand trying to read them from a distance.
On heroside, I took the easy way out and did all the porters alphabetically. Isnt too hard to eyeball the row of porters and guess about where a destination should be. -
Yea, no problem at all. Just stand at the side the corresponds to the two facing beacons and you can click on the stones.
-
Not sure if this has been done. But, when you need four arcane teleporters in a room and dont want the room to be dominated by the arcane teleporters.
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/8...0308084556.jpg
It took soem finagling. But, all the eight destinations work. -
Not sure if this has been asked.
Since the timing is giving Dual Pistols as 2XP weekend. Will Demon Summoners be getting one as well? -
Quote:Ok, I followed your instructions. I wernt back to 196.21 drivers. The issue is still happening. Here is the updated information.Agonus, you've not given us any real information to work from, so I'll address Swergen's post since I see half of the information we need.
I notice that you are using the 196.75 nVidia drivers, but the dates don't look right. You show a driver date of 2/22/2010, but the 196.75 drivers weren't released until 3/2/2010. Were you using a Beta version of those drivers? If not, it looks like the installation may be corrupted. I'd recommend downloading the 196.75 drivers again but don't install them yet, download and install DriverSweeper but don't run it yet, uninstall the nVidia video drivers and any of the display driver applications then reboot into Safe Mode. Once you are in Safe Mode, run DriverSweeper and have it remove any remaining nVidia Display Drivers, then reboot into normal mode. Once Windows loads, cancel any new hardware wizards or driver installations that try to start, then install the nVidia drivers that you downloaded earlier so that you have a clean installation of the Release version of 196.75 drivers on your system.
It's also possible that there is a conflict between those new drivers and the updates we got in the patch. You may want to try going back to an older driver such as the 196.21 drivers that were released in January, or even the 195.62 drivers that were released in November.
Since the 196.75 drivers were still being tested while the newly downloaded CoH content was on the Test server, it's possible that there is an issue that isn't noted in the Release Notes. If no one was using the beta version of the new drivers on Test, they wouldn't have seen a problem. The Release version of the drivers coming out the same day as the CoH updates makes me think this is a good possibility. In the Release notes for these new drivers, it is noted that the Cursor is broken again in these drivers for Vista, necessitating the need for the -compatiblecursors 1 tag onto the shortcut. If they break something that the devs have already fixed like the cursor in these new drivers, something else could easily be broken.
We also really need to see a HiJackThis log as well to see what else is happening on your computer. The CoH Helper report is only half of what we use for diagnostics, HJT is the other half. Usually the CoH Helper shows us what the problem is, but not always all of the problems.
For those other than the OP that are having this problem, please start your own thread and post a CoH Helper log and a HiJackThis log. The reason we ask for a separate thread when troubleshooting these issues is that sometimes the instructions we need to give are specific to one persons system only, and it can get very confusing to those with problems and those trying to troubleshoot when there are multiple people with different logs. It is very easy for anyone to get confused trying to keep multiple people's problems straight in the same thread, even though they are getting the same symptoms.

Ran a defrag and virus scan over the course of the night while I slept. I too thought it might have been the drivers. Installed the new drivers that dropped from Nvidia yesterday. Still getting the lockups. Ran some pings and speed tests. My network and connection are smooth as silk. The lockup freezes the screen, the picture is still but distorted and sound goes into a continuous loop. Computer wont respond at all and I have to do a hard restart.
-
I have been having smooth sailing with this game until after yesterday's patch. Now, I am getting graphics freezes that lock up the whole computer. Sometimes it happens 5 seconds into the game. Sometimes it takes an hour. I know it isnt the card or machine. tested out several other MMO and non-mmo games I have and they are having no troubles.

Let me preface by saying I have no inside information. This is all pure thoery on my part. If this has been covered already, please post a link. I cant seem to get the forum search function to work for me.
But, it seems obvious to me that a server merge or consolidation is on the way. I am just wondering if it will happen before or after Goin Rogue.
When they introduced the new "Supreme Leader" rank for supergroups, alot of folks were left scratching thier heads. From the player standpoint, there was no real reason to do it. It wasnt something that the players had been clamoring for or really seemed to need. (Granted, CoH dropping stuff on the players out of the blue is nothing new.) There was a very vague reasoning given by the Dev staff for the change, but it all seemed sorta not needed. There was some players that weren't happy with the socio-political ramifications, but most folks just sorta shrugged and moved on.
Then winter comes along and the dev's give free server swaps through the end of January. This made me a little suspicious. Folks were happy to be able to server hop for free during the holidays and folks are having fun.
But, I think there is more to this. After the end of January, the devs can see which of the lower end servers get even more depopulated. The way CoH is set up. Any kind of mandatory server move is gonna be kinda hectic. Especially with character names and super groups involved. The free server swapping through the holidays alleviates much of the headache as many of the players handle it themselves. So, when a server consolidation does take place. Fewer players to move off the dead servers.
Then there is the issue of supergroups. This is where the "supreme leader" comes into play. That new role makes the moving of SG's from one sever to another much more feasable. The devs let everyone know when moving day is. When M-day arrives, everyone but the "supreme leader" gets booted out of the SG. The SG gets moved to whicher server the "supreme leader" moves too. Then the "supreme leader" simply re-invites all the members that show up on the new server.
Now, I dont think a server consolidation would be a bad thing for the game. Quite the opposite. Have fewer, but more populated, servers would only help retain players longer and encourage more new players to stay longer than just the trail account period.
Just some insane thoughts and paranoia. Return to your regularly scheduled madness. -
There are ways to earn prestige without having to use MA. I have a solo SG and can earn around 15k prestige as hour solo.
-
Just remember. Pesky little things like RP tools are not really a priority for the Devs.
-
As happy as I am with the return on the 5th column. That isnt really alot of content for a stand alone issue. I dont count the bug fixes and more stuff for MA as a new issue. Atleast they could throw in some power proliferation or maybe some new powers. (Say, Demon Summoning and Dual Pistol.. hint, hint)

It is a clever trick on the Dev's part. They tell everyone that there will not be a closed beta. Only just an open beta for I-15, I-14 MA Part 2. And everyone rejoices.
Then, two weeks ago, they they have to wipe one of the testing rooms for internal testing.
Now the character copy tool, conveniently, isnt working. So, many of the players cant test the new TF/SF. Sounds like a psuedo-closed beta... lol -
Yea, I deleted my toons as per the announcement sometime back. Now, I cant get the character copy tool to work at all, either

" Added a note to pieces of the Soulbound Allegiance IO set that will warn the player that slotting this enhancement into a pet power that summons a pet that is lower than level 50 will result in the pet not benefiting from the effects of the enhancement. "
*scratches his head* I thought the point of IO's is if you exempted down for some reason. You retain the benefit of the enhancement. Even if you dont retain the benefit of the set bonus.
According to this, if we exempt down and our pets are not 50 anymore, they dont get the benefit of the enhancement.
And for MM's. Does this mean that only the tier 3 pet can benefit from the Soulbound Allegiance? It is bad enough MM's only have 5 primaries. No real defined role to play in PvP or PvE. Have hardly benefitted at all from power proliferation. Plagued with constant animation and AI bugs. But, now they get borked on IO's as well? -
I appologize upfront is this has been asked and answered. But, the search on the forums didnt want to work for me.
I was wondering why a AE facility was put in the RWZ. As opposed to the Pocket D.
From a game universe standpoint it seems to me to make more sense for there to by an AE mission termal setup in the D, like the arena stuff.
The big, shiny new building in the middle of the RWZ just doesnt seem to make alot of sense. -
I like the new outfits and will definitely get the booster as I have gotten the others. Two issues I do have though.
1) The announcement mentions robes.. I dont see any actual robe in the screenshots. "A robe is a loose-fitting outer garment. A robe is distinguished from a cape or cloak by the fact that it usually has sleeves."
Robes like the Tsoo and CoT. Now, those ARE robes. Folks have been begging for REAL robes and long gowns for YEARS!
2) "Having your fortune read gives a power buff based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, and can give a positive or negative effect on that character for the next 20 minutes."
Please tell me that I can say no to someone reading my fortune. Drive by Speed Boosts and Bubbling is annoying enough. Now we can get hit with something that has the possibility of debuffing me for 20 minutes? No thanks.
Edit: Ignore issue two as I finally had the chance to read a bizzillion pages into the thread and found castles mention of the confirm action -
Can Pain Dom MM's have Enforce Morale replaced with another power? Since the major adavantage of the power is now useless to a MM's minions?
Enforced Morale, Pain Domination Set. Corrs & MMs.
Ally + Resist(Disorient, Hold, Sleep, Immob, Fear, Confuse). +Perception +Recharge +Speed. Minor Special Damage -
Ah, the day has finally come to pass. Me and my buds played this little game before CoH came out called Earth & Beyond. It used a cool and (at the time) unique death penalty system that called XP debt. In thier system, a character 'worked off' the debt when they were logged out. A way to encourage characters to take a break and wind down, when falling into a 'death spiral'.
When CoH came out and we started playing, we liked that the Dev's had taken half the system from Earth & Beyond but had always wondered why they never used the logged out aspect of the system.
"One thing to note is that if a player has any experience debt, the debt will be removed first before any double experience is applied."
It took almost five years, but I see they finally got the other half of the system added in... hehe.
There has been alot of back and forth about the merits and pitfalls of Day Jobs. Personally, I like it. Like many folks I think 30 days logged out might be a little excessive. But, I like the system, overall.
Just remember. Much like the Invention System. If you dont want to participate in the system, you dont have to.
