Of course if our pets were smarter would anything be remotely difficult? Right now I only die if I get too involved in something else instead of the game.
and a comedy answer: If they were smarter, they would be the mastermind. -
Quote:Them's it. I probably have some Gift of the Ancients in Shadow Cloak. Why does the quick reply button keep randomly breaking?
Yall are talking about these endurance modification bonuses?
http://tomax.cohtitan.com/data/inven...20Modification
Yup. Buff max end. Never noticed that.
I also remembered we get +4 End for the Duelist day job power though it is only temporary and needs recharging which I need to remember to do for my shade. -
Quote:Who cares as long as he has Kung-Fu Grip!If you go to any beach you'll see a wide variety in women's bathing suits. But for men you see just one or two basic designs. The same thing is true in business and social settings: men have one or two basic uniforms, while women have a wide variety of dresses, suits, pants, skirts, etc.
The game is simply reflecting the general trend in American society for women to have a large variety of clothing options, while men have a much smaller selection.
More simply put: how many different outfits does Barbie have? How many does GI Joe have? -

Quote:There're at least 2 I can think of. Impervium Armor boosts it 2.25 with 4 enhancements and one bumps it 1.8 (weird number) but I cannot recall which. Of course I couldn't work in more than 2 4-sets of the Imp Armor on him (Eclipse and Black Dwarf). Please do. I wasn't aware of any IO that increased the the total endurance on a character.
I'll return at lunch with the name of the 1.8 set I have on him. -
Quote:As long as I retain the same recovery combined at 50 that I have now, I'd like this change. They give us the tools to trivialize in combat endurance management with IOs and Insps.
There are three stages while solo with endurance management:
1: 1-21 The boring suck-fest stages.
2: 22-whenever you start utilizing IOs
3: Fully IOed
There is NO way to avoid running out of endurance mid-combat before 22 unless you either alt-tab to internet surf between spawns or get on a team with some player that has an endurance buff. Forget insps, they run out, and hell yes I use them. My insp tray on lowbies is never full.
Stating that it's my failure is idiotic and laughable, Sam. It's the way the game is designed and it's a poor design. Stamina should not be as good as it is and base recovery isn't as good as it should be.
Base VEAT recovery is closer to where base should be for everyone.
This absolute limit of resources concept is also silly even while true. I have an absolute limit of 110 endurance once I have the accolades, correct? That limit has no meaning when I'm recovering end faster than I can burn it while running 7 toggles and using a non-stop attack chain.
Which bring me right back to the first point:
That disparity between 1-21 and 50 fully IOed is insane. It makes creating new characters a hassle instead of something enjoyable.
My choice? Buff base recovery, nerf stamina. Even out the ride.
Oh, and your End can go higher with IOs. I think my warshade is at 114 but I need to double check that. -
Quote:It seems to me most players have not learned to use inspirations to overcome their character's issues.Unlike WoW EVERY class here runs on 'mana' whereas in WoW only the casting classes run on Mana and they get an ingame 'emergency recover mana' spell they can use midfight or someone in the raid group has 'team mana recovery' spell. Not every powerset has 'emergency end recovery' and not every support powerset has a 'boost team recovery'.
It is far rarer to be able to dump an inspiration on a team mate than to get the message their inventory is full and they don't have room for it.
If I were the devs I would not touch fixing endurance as long as the data shows a lack of inspiration usage. -
Quote:The only thing I can think of that would be a problem with that is you save all your tickets/merits to being full or 50 and then roll for lower stuff which would result in a lack in the markets until people hit their tickets/merits caps or 50.I get money so I can buy things. My satisfaction with the economy has more to do with whether I can buy the things I want than how much money I have, and right now, the lack of supply has more to do with this than lack of information. All the information I really need is encapsulated by "zero sellers, last transaction three months ago". That's why I'm suggesting measures to increase supply, and especially level diversity of supply. If there's one suggestion I've seen that hasn't had a single criticism, it's the idea of letting people set the level of their ticket/merit recipe rolls.
Unless I missed the part where someone explained why this would be bad.
I'm not sure that would be any worse than the current situation and it might be better because at least it wouldn't all be 50s then. -
Quote:I also hate it even with those ones I have who won't ever need Stamina or QR (those Warshades, Stalkers and special Masterminds). Levels 1-24 feel like the unnecessary origin movie for a new Batman, Spider-Man or Superman series of movies. I find ways to make it less boring but I'd skip it in a heartbeat if I could. And that right there, Sam, is all anyone has been stating all along:
Is stamina necessary? Nope. Not for ANY character, EVER.
Does that mean all of us can or will have fun without stamina? HELL no.
I still HATE the 1-22 range. Even with as quickly as it goes by these days. Characters just don't feel right without 3 slotted stamina and/or QR. -
That's a single dimensional view of the markets though, profit. The desire to outfit a character is far too often painfully slow red side. Both sides have steaming piles of inf to make for us in their own ways.
-
Tell that to the PvPers and pro-market people.

Quote:Going Rogue is the next box. Desdemona is a villain going to hero. Use her.The poroblem is that the game is called "City of Heroes", so making the "pin-up" person be a Villain would be kinda weird - that's why Statesman is used way more the Recluse in promoting the game.
Ms. Liberty just seems like the obvious choice for a female hero to represent the game. -
Quote:Oh heck there are a lot of things they could have done differently but we're kind of stuck with where we are.I'm indifferent for the most part, but amenable to bribes. It works for PvE, after all.
More seriously, I think that a lot of the things you mention were good ideas. If it had been up to me, I would have implemented a parallel start-to-finish leveling path for PvP and gotten power effect separation and dual builds in at the same time as the rest of the PvP system. I also wouldn't have put any objectives in PvP zones that had the possibility of being accomplished without attacking or being attacked by other players, of course. It wouldn't have stifled criticism from those who see any PvP development as wasted effort, but it would at least lend total factual credence to the statement that neither PvP nor PvE is a required activity unless you specifically want the rewards associated with those activities.
Then I would have hopped on my unicorn and rode off to fantasy land. :P
I had thought we were going to get PvP missions like a Safeguard vs Mayhem. While those would be very tricky to keep team balance it would to me have been fun PvP because it would have a goal I could relate to.
The problem is they keep trying to fix something they really cannot fix because most people don't want to PvP just as most don't want to play villains (though a much larger group than the PvPers). While they can do things to improve it to make it more desirable to do either of those things there are many players here who will never do them. They need to understand they are trying to fix a people "problem" with software changes (not sure it is a real problem but it is clearly viewed to a degree as such). -
Quote:A few I recall being changed in the first few months:Can you expand on this, please? I wasn't around at the time.
Automatically setting to a level in the zones so a 50 wasn't at an advantage. In most MMOs, you had no hope against a higher level opponent.
Then they put in the downgraded effects of enhancements to offset the advantage the 50 would have over the 15 in slots with enhancements.
No death penalty in PvP. In most games you are going to lose something for losing.
A lot of powers got tweaked to remove an imbalance that had always existed in PvE but the critters weren't complaining but with PvP the devs weren't going to let that imbalance stand. And some of these really bothered me and I wouldn't have minded if there was no PvP and we got to keep them as is (like Phase Shift).
The only mistake the devs have made in my mind regarding PvP is not understanding just how virulent the anti-PvP crowd is and how indifferent most of the rest of us are towards it. That is there is nothing they can do to curb the anti-PvP crowd and nothing they can do to entice the indifferent people to PvP. -
Quote:I can assure you this was already in place when PvP was in beta for CoV. The cause pre-dates City of Heroes even and all the efforts the developers put in place here to try to minimize people's valid criticisms based upon other games were still ignored.I13 seems to have been designed around the suggestions of a large number of players whose experience with PvP was minimal and entirely negative. I don't think the existence of this large, vocal, and deeply resentful group was a coincidence or without cause.
There is a large contigent for whom no PvP is good PvP and they will always be vocal as if in this game every day a PvPer kicks them down the stairs though they have never ever tried it in the arena or the zones or they tried it once and someone said something they didn't like proving to them they were correct.
And none of that has changed since the days of CoV beta except there are a lot fewer of the PvPers who trash talk on the forums to the anti-PvPers. I haven't seen one "care bear" comment in this thread but I have seen all the tired old anti-PvPers rants. -
Quote:A point I tried to make repeatedly but the anti-PvP crowd assumes anyone who isn't anti-PvP is a PvPer.um, 'you and your ilk' don't speak for all PVE'ers. I have ZERO problem with the badges in the PvP zones and I'm a big badge hunter.
P.S. And if someone wants a reason: VARIETY. Having some of the badges in the PvP zones makes getting them a bit DIFFERENT. I like that. -
Too many zones and servers for the population we currently have also. The devs should shut some down.
-
Quote:Not everyone plays the same or has the same reactions though.Alright, I've got a challenge for peeps.
Go and roll an MA/SR Scrapper. You are;
-Not allowed to transfer inf to it. You can only use inf generated on that toon.
-Restricted to TO/DO/SOs. The game is meant to be balanced around them, not IOs.
-Not allowed to take Stamina.
See how far you get. If you honestly can say you find that possible without devolving into a screaming mess, then I may have been proved wrong. *shrug*
Do I take Stamina or any version like it on every character? No. Almost every character. Yes.
Who do I skip it on? Warshades, Stalkers, some Masterminds.
Who do I wish I had it at level 1? Brutes, Scrappers, Blasters.
Would I like to keep fighting without recharging my powers or needing endurance? Yes.
Now would that make sense for game balance or would it be ridiculous? -
They need to post some screenies from their closed beta with some different cards and list what the cards are. Maybe not now but starting sometime in May would be good.
-
But market PvP to get shinies isn't all that different from going to the PvP zones to get shivans and nukes. You might get lucky or you might have to pay through the nose.

Quote:I know what we really did wrong. We forgot to put those disclaimers on like "Not typical results" or "Your results can and probably will vary".Yeah, and all those folks who have come back and posted that they used tips they read here to make a bil+ inf on boths sides repeatedly (/em raises hand) are just figments of imagination.
We all know all the folks in this part of the forums are INSANELY EBIL BASTICHES twirling their mustaches.
Was that too much on the sarcasm meter?
EDIT: Oh, and op is a newb. -
Suggestion: Give me some new cool Going Rogue stuff to link to on Facebook. At least every 2 weeks or so just to keep generating interest.
Have I mentioned any interest in Going Rogue?
Oh and something for the upcoming 6th anniversary and Issue 17's sweet sweet Ultra mode graphics.
The devs have handed you awesome chocolate cake to market, get to it! -
Quote:I wouldn't quit over anything but a few catastrophic events. But I have also never been QQing over the PvP zones.
You know that I'm pulling for option 1. In the right context, I think it'd do a lot for the player community in the long term, at the cost of losing some players who thrive on toxicity and/or broken reward systems. In all seriousness, would you quit over a zone redesign?
During CoV beta the PvPer vs non-PvPer war was raging hard and I was vilified by both sides for pointing out the errors of each group. Amusingly the anti-PvP crowd irritates me far more because of their self-righteous manure.
Quote:Issue 13. You know, the one that was supposed to pave the way for a strong and vital PvP community, and instead strangled it in its crib while spawning more and more ridiculous threads than redesigning the zones could ever have any hope of doing. If the devs can waste that much time on doing the wrong thing, they can afford to spend some time doing the right thing.
Well, what I consider the right thing, anyway. :P
My view: Why waste any more developer time on PvP concerns?
As to my own backyard, they keep messing up the markets with their "fixes" because they are tilting at the windmills of making the anti-market crowd happy users of the markets. It isn't ever going to happen either.
They need to stop trying to please everyone with the niche features before they annoy everyone.
