When did they nerf xp and drops?
Good thing I17 doesn't have any major graphics update to improve the game. -
Quote:With the exceptions of the valentine pieces they gave out as a reward for getting people to sign up during a specific time frame. And the witch's hat which can only be obtained via Katie Hannon so villains don't have it but I think that is a different issue./unsigned. they are specific rewards for the toon that did the leg work to get them.
But to the OP, I would love it but I have to agree with Sharker's reasons for being against it.
As an alternative I could support the use of merits to acquire the locked costume pieces on a character by character basis. -
There's not a lot of details on exactly how moving existing characters from good to bad to good works but they have told us our characters will have to work on going good/bad through missions and arcs.
All the basic 10 ATs can be created in Praetoria and will need to choose Resistance or Loyalist which will relate to being rogue/vigilante but at 20 need to choose Rogue Islands or Paragon City.
In Issue 17 we are getting new level 20 arcs and people get to roll VEATs and EATs from having level 20s instead of 50s.
So my hunch at this time is at 20 or later we can begin the switching process. -
Quote:Let me try this again since you don't seem to be getting it.Being forced to use an 'optional' feature of the game to even slot up on standard enhancements strikes me as 'wrong' frankly. And its something I object to having to do.
For the most part, and come I17 will be the norm, I ferry inf from my bank char blueside and whoevers richest at the time redside.
BEFORE THERE WAS AN OPTION OF THE MARKETS WE COULDN'T AFFORD OUR SOs at 22.
They didn't add inventions and markets to fix not being able to afford SOs at 22. That is simply a side benefit. If you won't use it, congratulations you get to enjoy what we had for 3 years before we had inventions and markets when we actually were forced to do without or get someone else of a higher level to bankroll us or do without.
So don't come here talking about being forced to use the optional markets to experience game play that wasn't even an option before the markets and inventions existed and think you'll get much sympathy from anyone who played before May 2007. -
Quote:Before IOs came out we couldn't afford our SOs at level 22. So you are wrong.I tend not to use the markets, for various reasons. And, frankly, you shouldn't have to. TOs, DOs and SOs haven't changed since before IOs and salvage came out, and, if you dont use the market, you still cannot afford to actually slot the Enhancements for your level when they come out (12 and 22) Which, IMO, is rather silly. If you level to 22 without buying enhancements, by all rights I should be able to buy SOs. I could understand having to buy it bit by bit, if you didn't end up out-levelling enhancements within a short time.
So if you don't use the markets you will not be able to afford your SOs just as it was the first 3 years of the game. -

Quote:I could imagine one more powerful. /kinIt's simple. Mastermind pets are kinda stupid because if they were smart, we'd be even more overpowered than we already are. We'd be unstoppable...
You know what? Go ahead devs, listen to this guy, make us the strongest class imaginable! bwahahahahahahahahahaha...
uh...
I did that out loud didn't I? -
Quote:And it gave me something to do.What???? Different strokes and all that, so I'm not making this counter-argument to dissuade the author of that statement, but for those wondering about whether or not to take the power, I find it to be amazing mitigation. What's it supposed to do? KB. What does it do? KB, very reliably. Keep that nasty Warden on his butt for a whole fight. Great power.

My first 50 villain was my Bots/FF MM. I took Ghost Widow as patron for thematic reasons though I may need to revisit that and do a respec someday.
It is incredibly effective and incredibly boring for me.
I also took Tactics, Assault and Manuevers. Basically I just hang back and buff them.
Once I went to get lunch while they waited on all the ambushes in the Peregrine Island mayhem (on the old highest setting whatever it was).
My bots/storm and bots/dark are a lot more fun. -
Quote:No confirmation that I know of but as I often dual box I can tell you I have never gotten 2 of any drop type on my characters from a single kill. Also back in the people looking for level 46s to bridge I think we would have filled up a lot faster if that could happen.I'm seeing different answers here:
1. 8 man group kills a foe, each person in group has a chance to receive a drop from said foe, for a potential 8 recipes from one foe.
2. 8 man group kills a foe, game rolls to see if the foe had a recipe to drop. If yes, then it rolls again to see which of the 8 gets the dropped recipe.
Which is it? Has there ever been a red name confirmation on this?
I figure it makes far more sense for the drops to work one of these two ways:
1. Randomly roll for each drop type, randomly drop on a team character (goes to limbo if recipient has no room).
2. Randomly roll for each drop type, select eligible recipients from team and randomly choose one
I lean towards #1. -
Not all men. I find it interesting. I totally hate stories where the guy is getting creamed and the gal is hanging back screaming or waiting for the guy to save her. Obviously there are exceptions because there really wasn't anything Pepper could do against Iron Monger but when he was out of that suit she wasn't afraid to go in and do her part for Tony.

People fear the cysts or they think every kheld cowers before Voids/Quants/Cysts.

Quote:While this used to be the case before inventions and the markets and AE this is really not true any longer even on the villainside unless you team zerg to 20 and won't use the markets. If I buy TOs and then DOs then I sure as heck cant afford SOs at 22 when I get there, unless I transfer money from another char (at least I17 will make that easier). There is very little I can avoid at lvl 1-21 anyway. I dont take end heavy attacks or toggles I know I wont use. I do pretty much everything I can to keep end use low at low levels.
I mentioned AE because now that is what I do with all my new characters. Once I get them the Atlas Park mayhem/safeguard raptor pack I hop into AE and generate some tickets (one mission is often enough). Then I can either take my chances on a recipe or some random salvage or work for enough tickets to buy a good rare. -
Quote:Just an FYI next Wednesday when we get Issue 17 they could email them to you from any server hero side.I would LOVE to get this taken care of today, so for today only, I am adding 100 Million Inf to the pot. Here's what I need:
Sting of the Manticore, Dmg/Int/Rech, level 30-37
Sting of the Manticore, Acc/Int/Rng, level 30-37
On Freedom/Heroside
If you have either of these IOs at the right level, or if you are willing to spend the 220 Merits to buy either for me (must be level 37), I will give you ONE QUARTER OF A BILLION Influence EACH - that's 250 Million Inf each.
I am going to be unavailable from around 10:00AM EST to around 1PM EST, but I should be available apart from that.
The first people to help me get the dough. My Global is Xipetotec (on that account) and my character's name is Valador.
Please contact me either here or in game (although I probably will be in game sporadically until someone tells me to meet them.)
Thank you. -
No what they do is buy your merits by having you random roll your merits for them. There's a bit of trust on their part you won't lie of course and keep a goodie but have some junk in your inventory ahead of time to say you rolled.
There'd be no way to do anything that would transfer the results of Vanguard merits. Those are the ultimate bind on acquisition item we have in the game. At least with costume and temp power recipes until you craft them you could trade/sell them. -
Quote:Work I do not believe they will ever do. We would see market caps before they would ever merge them.Yeah really.
I don't think there is any way they can do ALL OF THAT in one shot.
Not with as much OTHER stuff they have to do for GR.
Hell, merging the markets ALONE would be work.
But I am terribly excited about I17 next Wednesday so I can roll up my Demon/dark mastermind.
Since my warshade is finally all set with purples I needed something new to do. -

Quote:I've used it a couple times but usually later in the character's life. For example I would still take Hasten at 6 or 8 depending on my character but I want him to Fly or I want to take Teleport so I can mix that with Hover and skip Teleport Foe and Recall Friend kind of thing.I pretty much still take Hasten on a few characters at 6--it's a good fit for certain low-level ATs with not as many offensive powers to rely on. And most of my older characters are tweaked just the way I like them, so it's not like I'm going to respec them just to scoot one power out of the way. It's an odd little perk, but I can't see where I've even used it, let alone used it to give me an unfair edge that might put a newer player at a disadvantage.
But most of my villains are in their 20s before I get them a travel power because the temp powers do a good enough job. -

Quote:Now that is excellent and I accept. And if I offended it really wasn't intended to be such.Ok, I get your point...apparently I miscomprehended. I apologize.
It's just this has been going on since they gave us vet rewards and I hate re-runs.
You should have experienced the joy of the Atlas Park safeguard Raptor Pack (Issue 8)before the Hollows' revamp (Issue 12). Now that was really something. -
Quote:Exactly. If anything the discrepancy is harder for people like me. Character A I can fly at level 6 but Characters B or C on the other accounts I cannot. Heck C doesn't even have his Nemesis Staff yet.See, the thing is...I don't really care (not re: you, re: the issue). Grant you, I'm just one guy and there are plenty of other people with plenty of other opinions...but it feels like all this talk is trying really hard not to sound like an entitlement (or anti-entitlement) rant. We didn't have vet rewards when I started playing, they were added after the fact. And I always had to take my travel powers at 14--this level 6 thing only just happened.
So it's not hard at all for me to imagine playing this game the same way I always have.
How is it difficult for "everyone else?"
I have to personally experience different levels of play. The people without the vet rewards yet really don't know what they are missing so their pain is much less than mine. -
Quote:See, you assume I am comparing you to children. No, I am comparing your request to a childish request by virtue of its inherent impatience. "Why do we have to wait until Christmas to open our Christmas presents?" Same concept. I didn't write that you are whining just that I respond to these things as I respond to the whines of my children. What are the insults for?
Why compare me to children?
If you think it's a bad idea...ok, fine...but I am far from whining.
Then you further infer insults. If I am going to insult someone I will just come out and write it (usually within the allowed boundaries of the forum rules though sometimes not and Niv or Mod08 give me a talking to).
You read into my posts just as you read into the vet rewards things that are simply not there.
What you are writing about that one vet reward has been brought up on many of them: 12 months, 24 months, 33 months, ...
The song remains the same and it wasn't that interesting of a tune any of those other times either. -
Quote:OR you could play the game until you get to the 60 month vet reward just like everyone else has had to.Well damn.
By those standard...we don't need anymore content for this game. Since we don't need more content to actually play the game, the devs don't need to waste any time or resources on your suggestion, do they?
However since you seem to have a penchant of taking quotes out of context and constructing strawmen to suit your needs I'm not certain anything else you post is worth my time to read or respond to. -
Quote:I wouldn't feel cheated either. I'd benefit on 2/3 of my accounts. But I scoff at the people who get their undies in a bunch over any of the vet rewards and think they ought to be able to buy them. Like my children whining about anything I tell them I had to walk to school in snow up to my waist even in the summer uphill both ways.Personally speaking, and speaking as someone one week from their 72 month vet badge, I wouldn't feel cheated. I mean, I don't care either way, really.
I guess when it comes down to it, though, even for something as simple as a travel power--I think things that confer an in-game advantage should be earned instead of bought.
