Quote:If City of Heroes contacts with attitudes of the City of Villains contacts...Tell me, would you be as staunch a defender of City of Heroes if it insulted your intelligence and abilities at every turn, and every level?
Cadao Kestrel:
Instead of "I can't stress the importance of this mission strongly enough. Please, destroy the Circle's portal before it's too late!" heroes will get "I doubt you can handle this but perhaps you will surprise me and not mess this up too badly."
Or from Send the Envoy of Shadow back to Hell his current briefing of "The research is complete. We have the Envoy of Shadow's True Name. If you're ready, it's time to end the Circle's negotiations. It won't be easy, you'll be facing the Envoy of Shadow again as well as the representatives from the Circle of Thorns. If you're ready, I have all that you'll need to send the Envoy of Shadows back to Hell. I'll call for an emergency force field to give you time to get there. I'm counting on you to end this, once and for all. "
becomes
"You probably didn't get this while you were doing all I asked you to do but now that I have the Envoy of Shadow's True Name you can go stop the Circle negotiations for me. Without what I have for you, you wouldn't stand a chance but maybe with some luck you can pull this off. " -
Quote:I would cry tears of joy to pound Hardcase into the ground. And who hasn't wanted Renegade interrupts during some of those contact conversations?
Hardcase: I know you're in on it, and I'm prepared to level a considerable amount of firepower in your direction if you don't help me fix it. Oh, I can do it. You don't hunt demons for a living without picking up a few tricks. Prevent the destruction of the obelisk. Or say good-bye to life as--
Villain Renegade Interrupt: ... look, kid. I'm a supervillain. *horrible beating commences* -

Quote:Try expanding your email window by pulling on the top border. I found Claim won't work until it is above the Spam button.I went in and tried out the new e-mail system. I got on a villain alt and placed a Masterwork Weapon piece of salvage in the e-mail with the message "Here you go" (without the quotation marks of course). I then went into another villain alt and tried to retrieve the salvage, but was unable to do so.
I received the e-mail just fine (on all my alts, heroes and villains). The e-mail buttons are as follows: New, Reply, Reply All, Forward, Return, and Spam (we all know what the Spam button is for!). There was also a Claim button under the picture of the Masterwork Weapon. Clicking on the Claim button did nothing; it wouldn't allow any of my alts to actually take possession of it. Also, I was unable to "read" my e-mail, as there's no Read button, and clicking (and double-clicking) on the actual e-mail did absolutely nothing.
Also, how do I delete this e-mail? There's no Delete button available. -
You mean the markets that were down for much of the time Demon Summoning has been available yet where people have been rocking their auras and footstomps for the past 3 years?

Quote:Still no email method of SG inviting or promotion nor any mention of one forthcoming.Fusion, your questions weren't dumb at all; I was wondering the same things as you, so thanks for asking here.
Now for my last question--Can I now use one alt to invite another alt on the same server to join my private SG? Or, do I still have to ask some random player to "help me out for a few minutes" by joining my SG and then inviting my other character for me? -
Quote:I want to add something but I cannot quite articulate what I want to add other than it has something to do with the current population levels and seeing a lot of old posters returning to the forums and that perhaps if they hadn't left they wouldn't have created what is a problem for themselves.I didn't give the subject any thought because you brought it up. I can't take credit for what I pasted. Memphis_Bill is the original creator of that post back in '08.
Don't think for a moment that you deserve the time it took to create that. You are not unique. You are not clever. You have not given the subject any thought. -
I wish I got a new character slot each time this was posted.

This is probably what allows us our varying degrees of success and good attitudes towards the markets in the gam rather than wringing our hands about market manipulations that aren't real.

Quote:You wrote too much text and made too much sense. Please try again.Which I implied where
Last I checked, players didn't take missions from each other
Your logic does not workunless the power curve is a perfect circle where it loops back to the weakest one when power goes off the charts
SOMEONE needs to be the strongest
and I'd like to see a game that puts ME in that position for a change
And even failing thata villain doesn't HAVE to work for anybody but himself
even if he's not the strongest
Last I checked
Nemesis didn't have any taskmasters
Dr
Doom didn't answer to anyone and Lex Luthor typically did his own thing
Even someone as relatively lower down on the scale of villainous success as the Lizard manages just fine without serving anyone unless a writer here and there forget who they're writing about
After I've killed thousands upon thousands of Arachnos soldiersdestroyed
raided or even saved literally hundreds of their bases
trounced them in the street everywhere I've seen them
beaten up their strongest HAND TO HAND
I dare say :PArachnos are too strong:P begins to ring really hollow
Unless you want to have an argument beyond :Pbecause I said so:P I remain unconvinced of their supposed powers
For all I know
the Isles are populated by deadbeat idiots who are easily taken over
The populace certainly doesn't give ME any trouble
so conquering and ruling them doesn't earn Recluse any points
You have no concept of villain operationsthen
Because of that were true
then Malta would be ruling the Isles because they're stronger than Arachnos
Oh
wait
maybe they're not
Then Malta would have been wiped out by Arachnos. I mean
what with them stealing Arachnos tech and all
Powerful villains can coexist perfectly wellas the constant bouts between Rikti
Council
Nemesis
Crey
Freakshow and Devouring Earth easily demonstrate
This stupid idea that :Pyou'd be crushed:P has no merit
Read what you quoted again and come back to meHere
let me repeat it
:Phave contacts come to ME
:P Come to me
as in come to my office
show up in person and ask me to work for them
This doesn't happen
Even if I have a base and their phone numbers
I need to call THEM
and even then they don't :Pcome to my office
:P It's a question of respect an authority
I won't go over there to speak with them
If they want my help
they'll have to come to me
And if they're too proud
then they can go to hell

I think it will depend on the items but for items the demon summoners and new VEATs and Khelds who are higher levels will want I think it will be a seller's market because they have spent days unable to get their IOs together.

Quote:I can echo that I am getting the temp powers along with Pool A drops. They are either in Pool E (with the costume recipes) or in their own pool.Temp powers are, indeed, their own drop pool. As you observed, this is what allows you to get a temp power and an enhancement recipe from a single defeat - something I have seen and even have a screenshot of happening to me solo.
They are not part of pool A. Both in beta and live I have gotten pool A and temp power drops from the same mob.
My theory on this new glut of temp recipes is that it may be intentional. Here's why I think that may be the case.
- There are a lot more temp power recipes now. To keep the odds of getting any one comparable to before, the overall drop rate needs to be increased.
- Temp powers now have clearly marked rarity. There are yellow and orange temp powers now, which was not the case previously. In order to meet some desired level of availability for these presumably more rare recipes based on their rarity in the overall pool, the total drop rate may have been increased. (This increase and the previous one need not have been unrelated.)

My solution has been to play only in MA and on characters below 10.

Quote:It seems like the only contacts who are friendly to us rather than bossy are the really evil ones.Generally, the official content assumes that player villains want to amass wealth and power, and don't particularly care one way or another about who they have to serve, or who they have to hurt, to get it. It also assumes that they don't want to see their wealth and power and the means to enjoy them destroyed.
It would be nice if the writers hadn't approached CoV from the perspective that villains can't win or be proactive. Just because the status quo can't visibly change, doesn't mean villains can't hatch and execute plans. Merely reversing the contact relationship from "this guy can give you a job doing X" to "if you want to do X, this guy has information for you" would do wonders. -
Quote:But with the Red Star you can prevent all of that.Must have been next in line when the previous "leader" vacated after 45 days , or do to inactivity this person became the leader , fair and square and decided to kick out those who were not doing anything due to RL issues . It stinks but that is the system .
You can only allow yourself (the red star) to Kick or demote but allow varying degrees on other settings. Besides no one can sell an SG if they aren't the red star unless the buyer is not thinking about what would happen when the red star shows up. -
Quote:Heck with one like that you could redeem and relapse if you wanted. Great concept.I like pragmatic villainy. Yes, I'm evil. Yes, I've done evil deeds to other people for personal gain. No I'm not going to start eating babies or punching kittens. World domination? Eh, maybe not. Doesn't seem worth the trouble. Indiscriminate murder? Please, I'm a professional, not a maniac.
One villain I have is simply a ninja for hire. She'll kill, kidnap, steal or investigate anything for the right price. Pay on time and she'll be polite and efficient, maybe with a professional service-with-a-smile. Betray her and you'll not even see her coming, it'll still be with a smile, though. Of course, this pretty much had her end up as a top Vanguard agent. They paid better than Arachnos. Also without the whole "trying to kill you in a social-Darwinist experiment", instead she gets neat toys as a bonus.
I've got another one going which takes the idea of a broken psyche and runs with it. What if your subconscious took over and you became locked inside your own body, while it acts on base desires and instinct... and had powerful psychic powers, mentally tearing people apart? Yeah, this one is going to end up really broken in the end. Or redeemed with GR. Haven't decided yet. -

You'll need to explain so I can understand how someone can come in and take over when there ought to be one person with the big red star.

I'm at level 8. What can I say? I am not in a hurry.

Quote:I'm shooting for the Joker being my biggest fan with one.I run the gamut on my Villains. I have one Villain who is actually designed to be interchangable with his Heroic twin brother, to the point where the in-character story is, that no one knows there's more than one of him. And I have one Villain that is designed to make the Joker nervous.
