Quote:They should rename it to Le Vigilance.True, but that's THEIR fault.
What about the player who WANTS to read things and learn about the game, but can't because everything is in a foreign language?
If you don't want to read stuff, that's your choice. If you want to but can't, that isn't your fault.
I wasn't suggesting this as a reason not to merge the lists, just pointing out that there will be two servers that are in a different language.
Zukunft is pretty obvious. But Vigilance doesn't indicate that it's in French by the name. -
You mixed and matched incorrectly.
Any IO from a set of Resist Damage can be used
If not a set IO (SO, DO, TO, common IO) you can only use a Damage Resistance enhancer.
You can never use multiples of the same set IO in a power. -
Quote:Well heck that Centriole would seem like a good thing for blasters and kheldians.Centriole's are Damage/Range.
So not worthless, but not the best either, and (if I'm remembering correctly) in the past they were like the most common HO to drop.
Oh and this isn't really what I'd call Multi-Level Marketing, it's a Pyramid Scheme (not that there's much difference between the two) :P -

Quote:Is it a bad one? No use for it? I have no Hami-Os knowledge/experience so I am curious.I've already started getting rid of my Centriole Exposures in this manner. First recipient was a fellow Championite:
"Hello, @XXXX, I am a Paragonian Princess that has come across this rare item of power (Centriole Exposure) and cannot harness its abilities. Please make use of this as best you can or send it to a less fortunate hero. It would truly a shame if this epic-level enhancement (Centriole Exposure) went unused and unwanted."
One out of my bins, 44 to go... -
No information has been released but I would expect this is on the Devs' radars if not already in their design plans.

Quote:I agree wholeheartedly (and I understood that you meant that).I agree completely.
All I was saying is that a server list merge would benefit the EU players much more than the NA players. I wasn't begrudging them that at all.
I hope NC has something already on their schedule for them because if they wait too long EU could be dead by attrition. -
Quote:You might want to get this stickied into a new thread along with the other two quoters' suggestions.
1) I want colors as shown above
2) I want to search within categories/within other searches
3) I want an option to disable persistent bids.
I don't want to have 3 years of the new UI before they change it. -
Quote:Excellent points. No, what I mean is: EVERYTHING is in German and French. Contacts, clues, mission dialog, everything. If you don't speak those languages you won't have any idea what the hell is going on in the game. You and I could probably stumble through it because we've been through the game multiple times already. What about a new player that happens to choose Vigilance....and doesn't speak French? They'd be completely lost.
The fact that you can't understand the people playing pales in comparison when you can't understand the game itself.
Though I find it extremely interesting the thought of getting to brush up on my French and German on those servers. I recall before the split stumbling through some German on one of the (now) North American servers.
But even if I never used those servers I still think it is really important to get the EU people some access to the more populated NA servers. They seem to truly be in a bad spot. -
Quote:No, the devs hate us. They want us to all go away. They are meanie heads. He's using the KittyKrusader argument. He dismisses the idea that something could be difficult and assumes that because it can be done in other games it must be easy to implement here, so the reason it isn't here already is because the devs don't care.
I am so mad at them giving me my favorite game ever. -
Quote:And some of us have more than one account and while on our first account we have the most recent Vet Rewards we still patiently wait on our other accounts to get there and don't whine, badger and troll demanding our (the real person) loyalty be rewarded onto our other accounts.I love how Eiko's like "blahhghghhhh 60 month vets can skip a power and still be travel-power fast!"
I have 48 months of veteran time, so I don't have City Traveler. Most of my characters don't take travel powers, and still end up either the first one at the door, or close to it. It's a perk of having played the game for 48 months; I know where all the shortcuts are.
I can skip *TWO POWERS* and still be travel-power fast! *gasp*
We are the only ones who truly have the experience of knowing what we are missing. -
Quote:You seem to have a position with the consistency of jello. There shouldn't be a difference especially not for a company that, hopefully, has a competent accounting department. In fact it should be better because the money that they are paid in advance is guaranteed income, while the money from subscriptions that are paid month to month is projected income which can, and often does, vary.
Which are you trying to claim:
a) You should be able to pre-buy vet rewards now
b) You should be able to back buy vet rewards now
c) Vet rewards aren't actually vet rewards but some form of financial wizardry independent of said vet rewards
If you don't think you have meandered around on these disparate positions you have.
Perhaps if you stick with what the Vet Rewards are you will be less confused.
They are given by the company to reward loyalty for subscribing to the game. They are not awarded in advance because they are thank yous under the expectation the subscriber is playing the game not a thank you for advance payments. We get that with the discounted amount for pre-payments. -
Quote:Yes there is a functional difference.Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt in my mind that I will never change your mind, I'm just trying to get you to see that there functionally there is no difference between someone who has purchased 12 months game time and then waited for their rewards and someone who purchased 12 months game time and got the rewards staright away.
Try this then. Don't get paid until December 31 this year. You will still get the same pay this year. -

Quote:I don't mind her posting but really is she doing much beyond demonstrating her ignorance of red side?Fun fact: When I posted this thread, I stared at the subject line for a long time and thought "Golden Girl is going to post all over this and weigh it down. How do I stop that without counter-trolling?"
After literally about 30 seconds of bouncing ways back and forth, I added the "(Villains Only)" tag to gently let people know that speaking from experience was intended to be a vital component of this thread.
Now, I don't actually mind her here right now, as the conversation has been really productive (as well as -Who am I to judge, really?-). Just... interesting that you should say that. -
Quote:No, you cannot pre-purchase 48 months. We can only do 12 months at a time.I'll call this one. Your analogy assumes that the people who are given the vet rewards have been given some sort of "test" to assume some level of general competency. That is plainly untrue. I've only been back for a couple of weeks and have already PuG'd with one 48 month vet who proceeded to run through every ambush point on a Mayhem mission and triggering 6 ambushes all at once (and this was on and 8 person team that is a ****load of longbow).
Hell, from what I understand the rewards aren't based on time spent in game even, so someone can have prepurchased 48 months of game time, rage quit, come back at the end of these 48 months and been a vet. Don't see how that is different from what I am proposing.
Here is one way it is different. NCSoft had that subscriber all those years as both a financial assett and as an entity to point to that the game was at its state of success. If ALL of those people had quit how would it have helped them to come along 4 years later offering money? Pretty sure the game would have closed up.
And the final failure of your reasoning. We don't buy our vet rewards. The company decided to give them to people for loyalty (sticking with the game) as a subscriber. What we chose to do with our subs was up to us just as what they choose to give us as that rewards is up to them.
Seems to me since there are more than 5 booster packs already available for purchase if they wanted to sell them to you they would have offered it already. Perhaps they might really mean it as a thank you to their loyal subscribers just like they say it is. -
There were calls to fix the interface, like its loading everything upon opening. There were requests to make it possible to setup pre-set bids or bid across levels, things like that.
But I don't recall anyone was requesting what it is now. -
Quote:While there is a difference to the past, the general claim is that the game is dying because of that when the reality is that the game has changed. The drop in population is not why you don't have the getting bombarded with invites upon login as much as the shift to instances plus the addition of CoV and many more CoH zones as well as the abilty to adjust our difficulties beyond the actual team composition.Yes, it is a huge improvement in convenience. Yet, you still have to actively seek out and make groups which didn't used to be the case.
People keep giving all this advice on how you can get groups, and some of it is valid. But all of that advice ignores the fact that the advice wasn't needed 3-4 years ago. You could group just fine from 1-50 without ever forming a group of your own or building friends lists. You could PUG to 50 with no trouble beyond trying to SK the wrong number of people in.
Yes, you can compensate for this difference by doing certain things, but that does not mean that the difference is not there. The very fact that you do need to do these things now and didn't have to do them in the past indicates that there is a very large difference.
Now you're just being a *********. #1 I never said anything about merging and #2 merging isn't something that's intrinsically bad or indicative of problems. You just want to portray anyone who doesn't agree with you as a panicking kook, because it removes your own need to make an argument. -
You're taking my answer to that poster out of its context and inaccurately applying it as a response to your post.

Quote:That is had on at least a weekly basis by the people who want to buy it because they don't have it.I have to admit this opinion has always left me feeling slightly puzzled. I have met many people oveer the years who have felt this way in many different games and I still haven't been able to decipher it. I always derive pleasure from a game from my experience, not from how anyone else experiences the game. How is it that someone else getting something that will make their game more fun, make your game less fun?
TBH, I may have just been hoping for this because I really want the Traveller Badge so that i can get my travel power at Level 6. But I still think its a valid conversation.

Quote:Nethergoat used to say the market interface was intended as a time sink. I believe it now.The only REAL problem I'm having with the market thus far is the bid persistence. Combined with the lag from the market it's going to start costing people. Bigtime.
With the previous interface, you could enter numerous bids quite quickly and set up a number of sales just as quickly.
Now it's more like Enter sale price SELL Next Item waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait Alter price if needed SELL Next Item waitwaitwaitwaitwaitwait...
In short, it's aggravating as #@*&! -
Quote:I don't think it will discriminate against the new players. I think it will cause old players to avoid it too.As far as I am concerned, the new market interface is pretty much a complete failure. It takes more work to do basic & simple stuff than the old interface. Biggest irritant is that apparently we can no longer search by categories of items. This one is driving me crazy. If I click on Recipes, all it does is fill the Search window with the word Recipes. I can't narrow the search at that point. If I type anything in, it just replaces the word Recipes and then searches every damn item in the database.
Terrible design. It's not simple. It's not intuitive. It's not easy to grasp. It will cause new players to avoid the market, in my opinion. -
He doesn't have any any more. And not enough influence to make it worth your time to meet up with him. Though with email now...
