Quote:I would bet that will be how we get to Praetoria or Paragon City if our Villain goes Rogue once GR is out.I'm in Sharkhead Isle right now standing next to an NPC named Submariner Janus, who is standing on a dock next to a submarine. Who is he? When select him, he says, "Sorry buddy. You and I shouldn't really seen be talkin'. Come back when you've decided to make some 'life choices'. I'd be curious to know how that works out for you."

Quote:I know this is not the case (well know is a bit strong but believe with the belief that the sun is going to come up tomorrow morning) but I can see the new UI thing if there was going to be the possibility of multiple markets to access for a single character. You know what's funny?
Waaaaay back in I9's closed beta, I remember thinking, "Wow, the market's interface is about 75 quadrillion times better than the Arena's."
When I first looked at the new interface in OB, I thought, "Sooooo busy."
My second thought was, "Sooooo busy, but ... ummm ... damn ... I really do miss having one bar at the bottom where I can: see what I have for sale; what I've sold; what I'm storing; visual reference for how many open slots I have; drag items from my inventory onto that bar; grab all my inf; make sure if I'm dumping big piles of salvage that I'm consistently pricing everything. All in one freakin' place."
I can see tabs being useful for organizing, say, hundreds of badges.
But not for dealing with 20 on-going transactions. -
It's just a zone with missions I really enjoy is all. Same with Striga. I never get tired of the majority of the arcs in those zones.

Quote:Blue side rewards aren't inflated taken in context. Taken out of context people point to more merits for TF than SF and ignore the median time to run them. The only advantage the heroes really had was before the Katie Hannon TF got changed.I guess we have very different perceptions of why there are more people blueside. I kind of assumed it was to do with the fact that there is far more content and zones blueside, loads of neat goodies with special mission mechanics, and especially some really awesome content like Croatoa. Damn, I almost want to go Vigilante just for Croatoa. Are you serious? I don't go much on the forums, but are there actually people who say there aren't inflated rewards blueside? With everyone I've played with in-game, it's been taken for granted as a completely uncontroversial fact that blueside rewards are inflated. Are we all just imagining that, for instance, there are a lot more merit rewards to be had on a TF than a SF, because we're all so silly? I'm a little thrown out of whack by that claim, like someone just told me Earth rotates around Mars and it's silly to say otherwise or something.
I too want to go Rogue for Croatoa and Striga.(Vigilante is a hero going bad.)
Here are (some) why there are more people playing blueside:
1. some people want to play heroes and do not want to play villains
2. some people didn't like red side content including the early zones' appearances so they won't play red
3. some people gave up on red because they didn't like Arachnos and Longbow everywhere
4. some people gave up on red because they didn't like Patron powers vs Epic Pools heroside
5. some people abandoned red for blue when the markets came along and red lagged early on
6. (probably one of the main reasons) some people playing blue already didn't want to go red because their friends weren't. -
Quote:So if you only want to fix red side and bork blue side, great. But that isn't a fix to the markets. It is transferring a problem from one side to the other.Sorry SwellGuy, but I don't quite get it. You seem to start out by saying that it wouldn't work as a fix, but then everything you say afterwards seems to support the idea that it would work. Wouldn't this work out then? If there is something equivalent to a Luck of the Gambler or Numina proc that you can only get redside, then you would have people going redside to get them, or buying from those who went redside to get them. In your terms, you will have buyers/sellers/drop producers moving to redside. You will also have buyers who will be forced to buy specifically from villains if they want a certain item. What am I missing here?
A true fix is permanent and not based on side playing incentives which can come and go.
Positron has hinted that side switching with Going Rogue will have speed bumps in it. Specifically to change one degree (no definiton of what that means so it could be Villain to Rogue or Hero to Vigilante or merely a sub portion of those) would take a week of playing. -

Quote:Right back at you snark boy. It's almost like i said that already.
Oh wait, there it is -"Now, I don't know whether to blame any changes on lower population or simply on the effect IO sets and the new difficulty settings have had on the ability to solo content".
Most of the people in this thread are stuck in some defensive mindset, where every criticism of the current state game is taken as a pronouncement of doom and reacted to with canned responses that don't actually correspond to the complaints made.
It might help if people would not quote walls of text and actually read what's on the screen before responding.
Welcome to my ignore list automatically given to every clown poster who calls someone a fanboi (or some variation of it like "Mr. Cryptic" and by the way it's not Cryptic any more genius) or railing on someone's post count.
You're not worth the time to read or respond to. -
Quote:Only to a degree. The primary problem the Black Market relative to Wentworths is that there are at least twice as many users. When a person who plays both sides is playing a side, the other side has lost that buyer/seller/drop producer.Yeah, well, I can complain back about the disadvantages that villains have. But excepting a few griefers, wouldn't that solution work to balance out a merged market?
So your suggestion might prompt a both sides player to play red side to the exclusion of blue so Wentworths takes a hit in activity. There was some of this when VEATs were released. The Black Market spiked in activity and there was some decline at Wentworths.
For some reason it seems that this simple fact eludes the anti-merger people. Then there are the blue side only that don't care about red side issues or the red side only niche marketeers who don't want to lose their grip on their marketeering. -

Quote:As I understand it from numbers people have posted the most populated EU server gets to Protector type numbers. It's fine for those of us who like Protector and choose to play there over Freedom, Virtue, Justice, etc. but I don't like them being stuck with no choice when we have a place they could go for more population if they want it.Sip some tea and laugh at the antics of the colonies!*
The EU/NA divide makes me sad; I would totally roll on some EU servers if I could. Are the EU servers fairly well populated? I hear that one of the English-language servers has a lot more players than the other?
*edit: Assuming tea is your thing. -
Quote:I think we could point you to a few of those types who say we deserve a cruddy market because we are villains. They even lack the braincells to write that we are "playing" villains.Wouldn't it work to somehow give villains a little bit better access to rare stuff? A small increased rare drop rate, or a redside SF that only villains can do with really good rare stuff opportunities? Then go ahead and merge the markets and if the devs get the numbers right, it should balance out. Of course I'm no economist, so correct me if I'm horribly wrong. Heroes would have to be real bastards to complain about a measure like this one considering how many advantages they already have.

Quote:I nearly feel the same way about not using the markets but I am hopeful they are going to address some of the UI problems soon. The longer the issues persist the danger of less market usage grows.A few people have already touched on this point, but I thought I'd echo it. I was frankenslotting some of my toons last night when the thought popped up momentarily that the market interface was a PitA to the point where it's almost not worth the effort. Think about that for a second.
It's always an effort to IO up your toon vs. just buying SOs or whatever, and I've always thought this was the biggest barrier to entry player base that simply ignores IOs in general (and let's face it, there are a LOT of 50s out there that don't have a single IO bonus in their power window). Those of us that know & care about the wonders of IOs (whether to frankenslot or go for bonuses) know full well it's worth the effort to craft recipes, buy & sell, earn through drops, etc and get our toons powered well beyond mere SO level.
Now, if crafting veterans look at the new interface as being (almost) not worth the effort, how the hell are new players going to approach it? Again, I do not think the current interface problems are lrn2play (lrn2use) in nature, but more of ergonomics and poor design. What about those "casual" players that barely used the old market? Are they going to want to learn a whole new system or are they going to just chuck it all?
As for marketeering, I'm just glad I'm well & retired w/my fat nest egg full of Fulms. There's no way I'd try to make money off of this system now. I realize this is a point of celebration to many who hate ebil. Your day may have finally arrived, but at what cost? -
Quote:Oh no, they do. And they all have stripped tops and blue jeans. Plus the statue of Atlas has been replaced with the Eiffel tower.
On a serious note, it would be really cool if the French server was set around Paris, German around Berlin, and the English ones around London.
If they are cooking CoH2 in their back labs, I hope they are considering different locales on servers. -
Santorican, I hate you.
Every single time I read one of your posts I want to watch "The Dark Knight" again just to see that scene. =P -
Quote:But look at it this way, with player notes all those "some players" can be designated as such leaving everyone else to have fun and they can come here whining how they cannot get a team. Its got nothing to do with laziness as I said, its just a big headache. Some players wont play on a team unless it has this AT, some players wont join unless your doing AE missions, some players wont join unless your doing Radios, some players wont join unless your doing TF/SF, some players wont join unless you only do their missions. Not to mention all the people who want a tell sent first even though they are already actively looking for a group. Again I dont have time for all that *** kissing just so you can join a team that you are already looking for. For the record I dont just blindly invite people unless you are looking for a group and dont have please send tell in your search comment, those folks automatically get skipped over.
