Quote:I guess I was thinking that there was a greater demand for things they didn't include and I was not seeing the things you listed because of the problems they gave us we didn't ask for and the more important things they didn't.... ability to search for salvage that a recipe takes, or a recipe to take your salvage.
... ability to search for stuff in level order.
... ability to purchase 10 crafted items (or 10 inspirations) using only one market slot.
Did I like the old way better? Hell, yes. But there is new functionality worth keeping.
And they took away one of the most important features of the old UI for me: the ability to narrow search by item type. -

Quote:If 6 includes roleplaying I think you have it too low. And bases are way too high. Probably around 15 or 20.I believe the issue priorities are as follows:
1) Badge related issues
2) Server stability and login issues a close 2nd to badges.
3) Game play issues
4) Costume issues
5) Base issues
6) Social/chat issues
....
50) Market issues

Quote:I'm not talking about marketeers. I am talking about the markets.I'm not sure why this is surprising. For most players, most time is spent looking cool and punching dudes, so of course any concerns related to those are promoted above concerns related to the pretend monopoly minigame. The market is ignored because it is not necessary, and it is not necessary in part so that it can be ignored: it's okay that the economy doesn't function, because it also isn't important.
I wouldn't mind the devs paying more attention to the corners of the game, but frankly, marketeers are about as important as base builders. The market is just another ancillary activity to add a bit of spice to the looking cool and punching dudes. Which I'm okay with: I like looking cool and punching dudes.
I'm not even talking about the economy.
The markets should be the primary means of distributing drops from the "don't wants" to the "wants".
When the markets fail to work well people cannot get their IOs at any price except by lucky drops or eternal merit grinding to directly choose them. And that still negates PvP and Purple recipes.
To my mind markets are an important part of looking cool (ok they took care of that with costume drops) and punching bad guys (or good guys) in the face well.
My other concern is how the side games play into keeping people interested and around.
Side items to my mind are base building, PvP and AE. All took a lot of effort to add to the game but ignoring them makes those efforts largely wasted as the players interested in those things drift off to the next new thing. Even if they throw markets into that list that impacts the entire inventions' system negatively if they ignore it or break it.
A lot of good suggestions are often made on things that would help the markets. While some are probably very difficult to do (level spread bids for example) their benefits would be enormous. I am still not seeing this new UI as doing anything people have wanted from the markets for the past 3 years other than stopping the disconnects. -
-
I think the important point is that some things seem to work when people raise hell on the forums (see costume recipes and Mystic Fortune) while others are ignored. Really ignored (see anything pro-Market related).

Quote:I am convinced they will never merge the markets. In 10-15 years when it is down to one game server they still won't.Since I view a merger as an inevitability once all their half-measures fail miserably, I'll disagree....just because there are viable alternatives to forced rolls.

Quote:Plus a second build at 50 could take a lot of supplies over.Recipe storage at level 50: 20. +9 for memorization. +5 for 66mo vet.
Enhancement storage at level 50: 10.
Salvage storage at level 50: 50. +20 for memorization/Scrounger. +10 for Vanguard Sack. +5 for 66mo vet.
And +50 salvage for vault (don't know for sure if vault will cross over, since it is not "character based storage", instead being stored off the character - thus why I list it separately from normal on-character salvage storage)
That is a CONSIDERABLE haul if you're willing to go through the morality switch to play the market. And keep in mind the devs have not said it's a quick, easy switch. -
I wouldn't joke about that.
There's a thread in the General forum of people complaining about it now celebrating the change back and with the other side of people regretting the change back.
Perhaps we need to move our market UI complaint to that forum instead of this ignored backwater seedy underbelly of a forum? -

Never I guess. I felt accomplishment when I got certain characters to 50 and then when I casually purpled my warshade but I didn't feel like I beat the game.
I suppose looking at some of my characters' builds I might feel they have beat the game when I get them to 50 and retire them. -
Quote:Well I am waiting for Going Rogue to switch to where there are recipes.Hey everyone.
I love this game, but generally end up playing hero side more often than villain side.. the big problem is when I get to that milestone of level 32 I usually go out and try to find some level 35 IOs and start the IO process..
On hero side it's not usually too big a problem (well it's been worse since AE started I guess..) but on villain side it is just flat out horrible.
I don't earn enough merits to piece together my sets at a reasonable rate and the market for everything always seems to have zero in stock..
Is there some other way to find these recipes? I have so many villains that stall around level 32 because I can't find the IO sets i'm looking for.. -
I guess we see how you got your red rep. It would probably be more red but you are probably on a large number of ignore lists. +1

Quote:And more than that there are stupid posters.Well, I can't speak for anyone else, but I get an hour for lunch. Since I bring my lunch with me, I do whatever I damn well please on my computer during my lunch hour. (Within reason. Obviously I don't do anything illegal or inappropriate.)
Oh, and contrary to the popular saying, we see that there actually ARE stupid questions. -
I am always on board for more scenery.
I want an arctic land with Yeti and stuff too. -
Just to help you for all your merit earning options:
www.paragonwiki.com
Search on "merit rewards"
Scroll down to Rewards Sources and choose villain in this case.
Dmitri Krylov, my good merit friend, for level 11-15 merits. -
Quote:I think this is a terrific example of choices and time versus inf generation in those game choices.i don't roll randoms because it's a hassle to sort, craft then list. Rather just pick one, craft one, list.
Some people might say you're doing it wrong but I would say you are doing it your way and that's key to enjoying the game. -
-
Quote:I believe people are doing exactly that which is part of the high prices for the things merits don't buy and the lack of recipes at the lower levels.Completely irrelevant.
The point is if the devs forced the random roll NOW, it WOULD be seen as a nerf.
Also it doesn't actually solve the market issue, as I said before, people can still HOARD, DELETE, VENDOR anything they get.
At that point you might as well just go back to the reward window at the end of every tf.
I doubt the devs want to go back to quick katies.
EDIT: Also part of the point of merits was to allow folks to bypass the markets completely, and buy exactly the item they want based on the time of their choosing, and not the whims of the market (especially redside). I don't think that needs to change no matter how much I want the red market to be better.
Now what could Posi's plan to fix the markets be... -
The object of the email (purple) won't matter but I certainly wouldn't risk it on a purple. Email does lose things now and then.

Quote:And they are bringing back the Mystic Fortune accept prompt due to a great hue and cry from the players. Meanwhile in the markets...By that logic, where was the massive outcry to make this UI we were given? People were posting about the lag and disconnects which were caused by pre-loading the market.
I don't accept one side is as nebulous as the other. One side might be fine with it but the objecting side are posting very specific complaints about this thing. You mention an improvement to the UI (entirely manipulatable with the keyboard). People here are mentioning problems with the new UI. That's not the same as like/dislike. -

People were posting about the lag and disconnects which were caused by pre-loading the market. But people dont post to say "Everything is fine, nothing to see here.".....so one sides position is just as nebulous on that ground as the first. Personally Ive adjusted to the interface. But I would love for it to be entirely manipulatable with the keyboard....is that too much to ask?
