Seriously who knew this game had such good graphics
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought I knew how good it looked until last year when I got my laptop. There are some stunning graphics in the game. -

I realize that this is trivial and petty, but a lot of drama is created via trivial and petty things.

the uproar over costume drops, for instance.

Just another example of one person's trash being another person's treasure. -

Weve had many players urging us to put out Issue 9 onto the live servers, bugs and all, because the game they were playing on the Training Room was more fun and engaging than the current live version of the game.
[/ QUOTE ]
Guilty.
But it's good you guys are fixing the bugs and not listening to us. -
It's okay but nothing I go out of my way to participate in.

We have a Forums Games section and a Suggestions and Ideas section. FYI.

MC Hammer would be delighted with your write up.

You throw out Magic cards?
Commons are good. Just because something is common doesn't mean its worthless, has no purpose or won't work. Same reasons as NancY pointed out, on top of people like me helping out lower level SG mates (especially new players, or new to the server players) or just n00bs in general.
[/ QUOTE ]
Not Magic, but in a couple games I played I kept 16-20 of each common for multiple decks. But in order to get what I was after I would end up with 30+ of those commons, so yes the extras hit the garbage. I only have so much space to store this stuff. -

2- Venture pops into WentPrime for a look. None are available at the moment. He puts in a buy order...but for how much? The last 10 went for a paltry 100k, but what if another 50 gets the same idea, or there are already other buy orders in? He puts in an order for 30 million to seal the deal. Way above what a level 30 is going to offer, well below his actual limit. He's happy.
The problem with your theory is that neither I nor anyone else is going to do that. We won't even pay 1 million. If the last 10 went for 100K then that's the ballpark we're going to play in, because we don't HAVE to go higher. We all know the market punishes sellers for trying to get high prices so there's no reason for us to pay high prices.
The real problem is that rare IO won't be on the market at all. Whoever got the drop is going to be trying to trade it for one he can use, because the one he can use isn't on the market either.
Instead, level 30s who find any rare that any 50 wants are going to be rich beyone their wildest dreams.
No. That's what would happen if we had an eBay style system.
Someone upthread speculated about the market for common items. There won't be one. That stuff is common. Before long you'll have more of it than you know what to do with. Those of you who have played Magic: the Gathering know what I'm talking about -- people opening packs and throwing 14 of the 15 cards into the nearest trashcan.
[/ QUOTE ]
Insert any CCG.
Common stuff blows. -
[ QUOTE ]
But this selling system keeps prices low by choking suppliers. And that's never healthy.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm not sure about the healthy part, but I have a feeling that first part is a deliberate intention to prevent farmers. (No guarantee it will work, though.) -
I am totally burned out on it because I have too many alts. (This is all my fault.)
I do not like the necessity to get a villain to do a hero's second mission and vice versa because many people take it then look for someone of the other faction to clear it. Then they find out they needed to be part of clearing the second mission for someone of the other faction. I think this is a problem for many people who do not know. -

Question: Currently, cashing in 6000 bounty in Siren's Call produces the same option menu as completing a story arc. Is there any chance we could have Siren's bounty as an alternative for Pool B recipes?
[/ QUOTE ]
Sounds good to me.
[/ QUOTE ]
And sounds bad to everyone who doesn't like pvp.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which makes no sense to me.
So I play PvE and I get it from arcs. He plays PvP and gets it from bounties. So what?
Perhaps those who oppose don't know how the bounty system works in Sirens? Or I having only done one bounty am not seeing how it would be a PvP exploit?
[/ QUOTE ]
Ok, as stated above, the proposal suggests this would be a "Fix" to the lack of ability to get Pool B drops from Story Arcs.
As such, that is a BAD IDEA. Knowing the developers, they'll go, "Hey, for those that can't get the pool B drops from story arcs can always PVP, let's do it!" and then stop looking for PVE solutions to the problem.
I did NOT say this was an exploit. I have upthread said that those that would most likely benefit from such a "fix" would only be the hard-core PVPers that already through other means pretty much farm the heck of that kind of system.
Let me put it another way (numbers for illustration purposes only):
Let us say that doing the Lord Recluse Strike Force gave a drop that gives a +50% increased effectiveness to batteling the Heroes. Now the 2nd run would be easier, and you gain an additional +50% bonus, making the 3rd run easier. And so on until those that repeatedly do the SF can do the strike force in under 30 minutes. So the developers seeing that it is being beaten "too fast" increase the difficulty. After a few of these adjustments, the only ones doing the Strike Force would be those that are "Hard Core", leaving everyone else out in the cold.
I seem to recall the developers have already stated that the hard core PVPers will most likely be the ones maxing out on inventions anyways, so it follows that people that are not hard core will be toast entering Sirens Call if this is tied to the bounty system.
Also it does NOT address the fact that those who have outlevelled arcs will have less access to Pool B.
(Edited to correct an error in the second last paragraph.)
[/ QUOTE ]
Ah, I see. Thanks for that explanation. It is much like the "I can't defeat X" and the response is "get a shivan" so the devs don't fix X, just expect others to get a shivan. (Please note this is not a known fact by me, just a could be.) -

I hate to play DEV-il's advocate, but that's the reason they put in the auction houses: so you don't have to run the TFs/Trials to get what you want.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah instead powergamers and people of the appropriate level can just make 10 million inf a pop on those things instead. Basically jacking up the prices to bone the high level people that just don't want to go through the TFs again...
[/ QUOTE ]
Until the wells run dry anyway. What will they then do with all that influence though? -

why doesnt anyone simply point out the fact that this is for most players to spend MORE time gaming?
[/ QUOTE ]
Because it's not a fact.
[/ QUOTE ]
Exactly, from what I can see the system is setup so that if you play casually, you will find recipes and salvage. Even find complete sets. All with no special work on your part.
[/ QUOTE ]
And, IMO even better, the guys who can find the stuff and sell it make it so I can buy what I need and sell my unneeded random drops.
I only see the "Pokemon crowd"* as being in deep trouble.

This is excellent communication, Positron.
Thank you. -

I have only been playing for a couple months and I have yet to experience any crashes or DC's, not a one, and neither have any of the other people I played with. I play with a constant group and PUG once in a while and only once have I ever even heard of a DC. I think what happens is that someone gets disconnected, they get angry and blame the game and not the millions of other reasons the game could crash or lag.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have 2 machines. It happens once in a while on one, never on the other.
Dismissing people's real problems like this makes them angrier.
Read Lighthouse's post before dismissing reality based on your perception.
Be glad you haven't had it but don't dismiss those who do get it. -

You don't think it was a personal attack? A statement to the effect of "You could have had my money but now you won't, nyah!" is about as close to personal attack as it gets without using insults, in my opinion. There are ways to express displeasure with sevice providers that don't include taunting them. Personally, I find your wording insulting, but that's just me.

Would you be happier with the following:
Statesman, due to the high volume of bugs the past few months and the poor communications (see removal of Holiday temp powers as but one example), I chose to cancel my yearly subscriptions on my two accounts. I may decide to go month to month when my time expires or not. -

Thanks for the support!
To be honest, criticism comes with the job. I'm not fond of personal attacks, but I understand that people are passionate. Heck, I worked in a comic book store (yep, I was comic book guy), so I understand the vagaries of working with the customer. One thing is tantamount, however - you guys are the PAYING subscribers. I might not like the feedback, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Admittedly, honey is usually more effective than vinegar, but I always try to look beyond that...
[/ QUOTE ]
Honey was my yearly subscriptions which you wont be getting anymore. Its month to month from now on for me how do you like that vinegar?
[/ QUOTE ]it does illustrate the original point rather nicely.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, actually it does not. That was not a personal attack. A personal attack would be calling Statesman (or other) a name or make a disparaging comment about them not a complaint to them about the state of the game.
Complaining about issues with the game or their communication about it is not a personal attack on them.
Disparaging comments on their programming abilities or persons is a personal attack. If every post of someone saying "Please fix the base booting" or "Please fix the DCs" is going to be viewed as a personal attack, then they may as well shut the forums off. -
I see tons more posters bashing posters on a personal basis than people bashing the devs.
It's an unhappy time around here of late. -
[ QUOTE ]
I'm not having any problems, and I don't know anyone who is. Just because it's a big issue to You, doesn't mean it's everyone elses only priority and the dev team should drop everything to focus on it. Either have some patience, or upgrade your own equipment. I have 3 different computers running the game, no crashes on any of them.
[/ QUOTE ]
There could be no issue any larger for someone than crashing because that means not playing. That is bigger than any other bug.
Some people are crashing a lot. Some are crashing more than they used to (I am up to 1 a night from 1 month or less). I am running at 2 GB RAM, on dual 3 GHz P4s yadda yadda yadda.
Be glad you are not experiencing trouble. don't dump on those less fortunate. I am just glad it is about once a night which I can reduce by remembering to turn off my antivirus. -
