Free Respec & Costume Tokens = Rewards/Gifts
Costume Peices & Perma-Temp Powers & Base Decorations = Incentive/Bribe
If you need incentives to keep people playing, it is time to re-evaluate your game.
[/ QUOTE ]
They are rewards not bribes or incentives. If they work as bribes or incentives for some people that does not mean that is the intention of them.
I take them as a reward for being a long term loyal customer.
[/ QUOTE ]
Acts preformed witht he best of intentions can offten have the worst consiquances.
That would read so much better if I could spell half of that properly.
I wanna make an Angel with Angel wings..
Sure, just wait a few months and you will get wings.
I wanna make an Boxer, how do I get the gloves?
Wait about Three.... three and a quarter years.
...
...
Limiting options, making someone have to stay to get certian things even if they are only cosmetic doesn't sound like a reward.
[/ QUOTE ]
So you are just hung up on the costume options which provide no gameplay advantage?
Personally, I hate that they are in the vet rewards and I hate that there are costume recipes as drops. But costumes aren't all there is in the rewards. Different people are rewarded by differrent things. -

Sure you do, it's just not labeled that way.
I wish I knew the exact words the [Censored] tells Andrew McCarthy's character in St. Elmo's Fire about it. -
You may want to add more to the useability of the table.
I have it on one character and my interest in getting it on others is negligible since I need it most while I am pursuing it (mega crafting in the market while buying salvage and recipes).
I probably haven't used it 10 times since I got it last year. -

I can think of a lot of other costume pieces I would gladly fork $10 over for (CoV pre-order helms, holiday/event costumes, etc.)
But I just don't see any reason I would ever need any of these.

And having just seen Fleeting's screen shots, I see why I would want a couple of them.
Now, if I could just get to buy the other ones I want. -
Darn you and your screen shots!
* heads off to buy it now * -

It certainly seems like some people (not many but at least 1) would rather pout about CoV's problems than constructively post to get them fixed.
-
[ QUOTE ]
Everyone arguing that they are just one game should, right now, if they have any intellectual honesty to their own stance, be requesting that the next few updates to THEIR ONE GAME focus entirely on bringing CoV up to the same content level of CoH. After all, if it's JUST ONE GAME you're getting the exact same amount of content anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
I do not want them to equal it out by numbers.
I want what is needed added. If MMs need some loving, give them some loving. If scrappers need some loving, give them some loving. If level 1-5 villains need new leveling paths (and they do, boy do they) give them some new leveling paths.
I do not want this to be about X items on one side = X items on the other.
Villains in general need some loving. There are particular spots in villains that need it most. There are a lot of spots that are dependent on the personal preferences of players.
Demanding 18 months of villain content without hero content in some attempt to be equal is not going to happen and nor should it. Demanding some X amount of villain tweaks to be even with heroes isn't going to happen and nor should it.
Asking for what villains need so it could happen is what should be done. Forget the "we need it cuz they got it" angle. It's distracting.
We need to focus on what our villains need whether we play villains only or heroes and villains. I have no idea what input if any a heroes only person would have in that debate unless they PvP or co-op with villains.
I want more paths for 1-5 for villains because I am sick of Kalinda and Burke not because the hero side gives me 5 (or 10 depending on whether you count AP/GC as different) paths. I am sick of them because it's not enough choices.
Remember villains have some of the best stuff in the game and I don't think giving them to heroes is desirable but it is logical with a "make us equal" argument. You don't feed one child to make up for the older child being around longer and getting more food. You feed each according to their needs.
Villains needs some more "food" to grow for its own sake not because heroes is bigger. -
Access to heroes or villains is based on the account not the game program. Remember, we upgrade or add the codes to our accounts.

I was wondering if it was claws or weapons.
They need to fix that now that they have shown with DB we can have brute weapons. (Though I would be equally happy with villain blasters and scrappers and heck call a tanker a juggernaught for villains.) -
Why can't he be a brute?
Though personally I do not understand why some ATs cannot be either side and others take only a bit of tweaking or different thinking. -
[ QUOTE ]
So the devs could:
1. Give CoV something so unique and amazing that people have to go back to the Rogue Isles to experience it (and thereby cheese off the people who want to play as heroes);
or...
2. Open the entire game up to heroes and villains so that they can go wherever they want and do missions in any zone -- with of course some restrictions on heroes on who they can battle in the Rogue Isles -- and come up with some transparent but comic-bookish rationale for letting heroes and villains team up under certain circumstances;
or...
3. Leave the game as it is, with the CoV side devolving steadily into one of those optional activities like the Shadow Shard that people visit once in a blue moon.
I pick #2, but the devs obviously pick #3.
[/ QUOTE ]
On the one hand #2 could be much like what I remember from EQ where a villain is KOS to NPCs in hero zones and heroes are KOS in villain zones (comparable to PvP zones' drones right now). So I would love it.
But this is also one of the things (to me) that made the game distinctive from other MMOs.
As for #1. I remember when CoV came out all the lamenting how no one was playing heroes. I don't think any content could be added that would take people from heroes any longer than it would take them to finish experiencing the new content. So it wouldn't keep people there for long but it would spruce up CoV some.
Regardless people will whine. I am all for new content for CoV even if it is CoV-only. -

Yea, becuase you know the devs wouldn't POSSIBLY make ANY changes to hazard zones if they give them to the other side of the game. Despite the fact that you guys are sitting there claiming about how the devs know better, you blindly insist that it would just be a straight port, no attempt to revamp or fix the zone, no attempt to add anything to it, nope. Devs wouldn't POSSIBLY do that if they transfered zones over.
Give it a rest guys. You don't want the zones. We do want new zones. Why are you fighting so hard to deny Villains ANYTHING?
[/ QUOTE ]
I'd much rather see CoV get its own, brand spankin' new zones than just grab some old ones from CoH. Especially since the CoH hazard zones are probably going to get a Faultline-style revamp in the future so heroes will want to play around in them again.
Besides, Paragon City is the City of Heroes. Why would they give zones over to villains?
[/ QUOTE ]
So we can post that the zone has gone to the Rogue-ians? -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
And if they transfered zones over and revamped them for CoV, where does that leave CoH? Do you give them the revamped zone? Leave it as-is?
[/ QUOTE ]
You lose the zone. Your access points from in the city are closed down. No char can enter the zone. Chars that were in the zone eventually get relocated when they log back in.
You don't want the damn zone anyway. You guys [censored] and moan that there's nothing to do there. So fine, your "empty" zone is gone, CoV has something new to do. Mmmkthnxbaibai.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, that could be a fun thing to have some zones get blocked to one side and then the other for a week here or a day there... -
My heroes' want list:
Do something with Boomtown and possibly spice up Perez a little.
My villains' want list:
Better market locations and more market interface NPCs. Two is just not enough at busy markets.
A new contact chain, perhaps with a new starting zone.
Zones like Croatoa and Striga* with story content where we can either be trying to take over or trying to just cause trouble. (* by like I mean levels and stories, not port overs please)
For both games:
Please do some work on the market interface. The UI is just kind of clunky in many regards.
Please improve the team building functions. People shouldn't have to work hard on getting together. -

Yeah, I heard about the powers designer opening. I don't meet two of the requirements:
At least 1 shipped AAA title
Refrain from calling other forum posters "blithering idiots."
Also, Mountain View is too long of a work commute from Honolulu. And I hear Castle has a clause in his contract that allows him to call any powers designer hired after him "Igor."

Just to be clear, the phonetics on that would be something like "Eye-gore".

Every character should have a page (RMT spamming isn't a real concern sorry guys. I've always displayed my info in EQ2 and get maybe a single RMT spam a month at most between all my characters).

For you.
I have a character getting several of them every week in the wee hours of the morning because that stupid "company" got the character's name once. -

Nice to see those options come into play finally
To those worried about RMT.. well people have their character data in their signatures already right? They have characters on SG websites, tracking websites, and a bunch of other places... how will this option change anything? Time to forget the tinfoil hat for once and just focus on the fact that NCSoft is going to bring a pretty good idea to the table. The much maligned WoW has the Armory and it hasn't increased RMT to specific characters.. I do not think that this option will be any different; especially since you have the option of turning off that data.

Possibly this has been covered, but I don't want my characters' names listed on a web page for RMT spammers because a friend has changed their settings to display their friends' list.
