I'm 29, almost 30 and can roll in the 30-35 range to receive 30's. I suppose that's close enough.

What are the odds of getting something worthwhile off 2 merit rolls?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'd recommend waiting til 32 or 33 to roll the TF roll, in hopes of grabbing the Kinetic Combat. The 35-39 pool has a lot fewer recipes than the 30-34 pool, making the Kinetic Combat triple slightly more likely, AND a 32 or 33 recipe is usually worth a lot more for sales than a 29.

Conversely, there are a few dynamite scores in the 30-34 pool at level 30.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I was under the impression that if I rolled in the 30-34 pool, even at 29 the worst I could get is 30. Does that only count for recipes that don't go below 30 or something?

BTW, I want that 3-way KinCom for myself if I get it.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The recipe answer can be a bit confusing but it depends on the recipe you get.

If the recipe maxes out below your current level, you get the recipe at its max level.

If the recipe starts at a level higher than your current level, you will get the recipe at its minimum level.

If the recipe exists at your level, you will get it at your level.

So by rolling in 30-34 at 29 you will either get a 30 or a 29. It will be 30 if it doesn't start until level 30, it will be 29 otherwise.

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback. I started an Axe/WP Brute and am enjoying him, but, I also have a corrupter and stalker to try out as well. This game makes making alts too easy!

    Far too easy.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Too bad that WombatMan would probably get genericed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    he would? damnit.

I seem to remember an old Animanics song that was made of him. Or am I thinking of another WB cartoon?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am just assuming there are enough people who would assume a Wombatman would be a Batman ripoff that eventually it would get reported and eventually a GM would generic him.

Animaniacs had lawyers on their side (plus WB owns Batman).

Like pwnz, we are frequently faced with posters who come in, ignorant of what we do and why we like it, who sometimes spout usually misinformed vitrol in our direction. That gets old, and lots of people get tired of trotting out reasonable attempts at discourse when it is met with unreasoning conviction of a different viewpoint. It's one thing to meet people who disagree with you philosophically. It's another to have them both disagree with and openly attack your own philosophy, and than ask that this be met with a calm demeanor for months on end.

Some people handle it better than others. Some people care more than others.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tried for many, many months when this forum was launched to educate my brethren (the poor) on how you can play and with minimal market use get rich and how you can use the flippers to help yourself and to be patient.

Then I got tired of the same old ignorant positions trotted out as fact. But there were more hostile posters to slap the fools around then.

I find myself less and less interested in educating since there are plenty of well written guides for those truly interested in learning.

25+ months ago the markets and inventions hit the game.

I don't marketeer and have gone from scraping by in the game to over a billion influence and infamy and from 1 level 50 to 8 since then. The market is full of win for the wise and woe for the foolish.

Wait, you can place people on ignore on a forum?? That's awesome! That could be the best invention since putting people on ignore in-game (which I use liberally!)

Ahh, sweet blessed silence from the trolls. Cat, you're my new hero.

I've been wanting an ignore function in real life for years.

Semper, seriously... there's no Victory to be had here. The fact that Justaris came in and IBTL'ed should be the writing on the wall right there for you. This "crusade" will get you nothing more than a few blocked thread (at best), or a Forum-ban and possibly a cancellation of those 3 free months.

Oh, and on top of that, the Kheldian community may even splinter some more, and being the cause for something like that doesn't look good on your resume unless you're applying for a job with Lord Recluse

    Oh... and IBTL+1

    [/ QUOTE ]

You left out earning a spot on people's ignore lists. If someone is just going to spam a complaint for three months, there seems little to be gained in reading them.

THIS IS WHY I CAN'T AFFORD NICE THINGS!!!

I wonder if we'd be able to explain these points (takes too long, isn't all that profitable) to a "marketeer-hater" and have it "get through".

    [/ QUOTE ]

Start with something easier and work your way up.

For example, try to get the Flat Earthers to accept the Earth is a sphere.

Then get racists to accept that they are wrong.

Then get that Jack Thompson guy to get a clue.

Then maybe you will be ready for the anti-market crowd.

    No.

    [ QUOTE ]
I left this game 6 months ago because of it, and they have given me 3 free months of play. Although I won't play, i do plan on using that time to post on this board to let the Devs know how rediculous the "fix" was and push for a fix to the "fix."

    [/ QUOTE ]
Honestly, I don't think the issue was worth leaving the game, and it was annoying at first to adapt too, but considering that now team-buffs affect the forms, and the Dwarf is basically almost like a free Break-Free, I can live with it.

Apparently a lot of others can as well, if anything I think Kheldian numbers have grown a bit, so I doubt therefore that the Devs are going to change anything about it in the future.

    I've gotten used to it.

    LoTGs for sale

    [ QUOTE ]
Hey guys....hoping this is the right forum. Anywho I've come across some LoTGs from the merit vendors and I was intending on posting them on the BM but I decided to announce on this forum if anyone would like to purchase them directly. 80 Mil each, they're the Recharge ones you get from the merit vendor. I can meet you anywhere red side in Virtue

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hmmm. So someone who registered on the forums YESTERDAY, wants to make an expensive trade outside of the market system.

That sounds like a great deal to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Check out his posting history. He was working on a Bane Spider so I am guessing he ran a lot of Strike forces or arcs.

It's amusing how the market paranoids attribute everything to shadowy, malicious cartels when most shortages and price spikes are the result of 'casual gamers' buying stuff to make things with.

You have to casually PvP and defeat an already casually purpled warshade and win. Casually of course.

    On the flipside to this...

I logged in to see a glut of [shush sekrit common IO] for sale going for 1/10th their normal prices and 1/100th of their height during the meow craze.

    Some possibilities:
    1. A badger was at work
    2. Someone felt like tossing them out cheap to the general population
    3. Someone was trying to drive out other sellers

If I were to assume any of these it would be 1 but to be sure in order for someone to have done this they either already had them crafted or they had stored a lot of the salvage or they had just bought up all the salvage.

Coincidentally all the salvage bits were way up for it.
  16. The catch is, the market haters don't understand a very important thing: Suggestions and Ideas is in another forum.

The markets are what they are and all the wishful thinking and complaining in the world isn't going to change how they work.

They are not a store. If you treat them like a store you will pay more.

IOs are supposed to be a time sink. Just like base building. People make suggestions asking for canned bases like the pre-defined costume sets down in S&I. People make suggestions about the markets down in S&I sometimes.

But complaining about real and imagined wrongs in the market doesn't do any good. People who are flipping aren't going to stop because someone complains here. People who are griefing by messing around with stuff in the market aren't going to stop because someone complains here.
  17. It means you cannot stack the 2 upgrades on a minion twice. When a minion is resummoned it isn't the same pet as it was before (even though you named them the same).

So after you summon all your pets you cast Enchant Undead and Dark Empowerment on the group. If any die or you dismiss them and resummon them, you will have to do it again if you want them to be upgraded.

because I can see bunches of 5001 price buyouts that weren't there 30 minutes ago , I then put money down all the way up to 100,000 and could not buy 1. Because the person who did it bragged about it in the channel which caused the discussion last night.

I think the Dev's should make Salvage available at the Uni much like the IO recipes, this way I can pay cheaper at WW or a high fixed price if I don't want to play this gouging game.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Don't worry, the whiners have won again. Patch notes for i15 say you can buy common salvage with tickets now.

BTW, if you'd waited a few minutes with a buy order up for 5002, you could have gotten a whole stack. Don't blame the market or the gouger for your impatience and short-sightedness. If everyone just left their 5002 orders up instead of creeping up to 100k, they'd never sell at 100k, he'd be out his listing fees and relisting lower. But I guess that just makes too much sense. Must have it NAO!!!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Whiners? You wonder why you need these threads? Its this attitude that is why the doubter wont ever change their minds

I mean come on, is this really reasonable?

    Gouging

    Edit:

For the record I am not a doubter, I play the market too and I enjoy it. Like I said 2x 3x or even 4x the item value is fine , its the extreme gougers that enoy me and ruin the Market name in general.

    [/ QUOTE ]

He started this thread with the best of intentions and saw the influx of whining and gave up.

If facts won't sway people there's no point in discussing it with them.

I was buying what I needed all weekend for less than 2k yet everytime I went to the market to pick it up the last 5 was showing the common salvage I had bought stacks of was going for 100k or more.

You beat the gougers by being patient and never paying their prices. Ever.

90% of what people say here is true , the market is a tool and it should be "usable" by all. the one thing I cannot stand and makes my extremely irritated with is gougers. They buy the entire market of lets say Spell Scrolls ( A common low level salvage ) for 5000 then put all of it back up for 100,000. Now all low level players cannot make any Endurance related IO unless they find there own salvage.

This just happend to me less than 5 minutes ago, all I want to do is make level 20 End Mod IO's on my friends scrapper ( he is new to CoX ) and I can't because of the market gougers.

These are not common flippers who doble or even tripple which is fine, I dont' mind people making money at my expense if its reasonable . I do mind people gouging me for 500% markup on items they cornered the market on. these are the same type of people $100 a bottle of water after an earthquake.

You can flame me back all you want, but this is the feeling most of my SG have and the majority of out global channels judging by the conversation last night.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why can't the low level player simply place a bid and go do something else?

Also, how do you know they bought up the low supply and relisted it? If people are badge crafting they buy it up and use it which leaves only the extremely expensive ones out there that people place there to see if it will sell.

In a nutshell, you are assuming an awful lot with no means to support your assumptions.

    3. Carry clue back to contact, get phone number

    [/ QUOTE ]

All contacts give out their phone number based on a certain percentage of their progress bars. CoH contacts just have about three times as many missions. Frankly, I'd sooner to a contact run a few more times than be stuck with the same 5 missions for the same 3 contacts for an entire level range.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why not improve both? Run a mission to prove your helpfulness and get the phone number like most new contacts and add more missions and arcs to those who have too few.
  23. [ QUOTE ]
I just went back to blueside and a few things struck me.

My new alt: Ran nothing but starting contact's missions until they ran out, and zero Merits. I could have sworn that Kalinda and Burke at least gave one or two merits. A quick trip to Paragonwiki shows me that the blueside contact is arranged as a loose sack of random missions, while Burke's missions are a story arc.

My low-forties Scrapper: Hunt 100 Crey mission. Seriously, ONE HUNDRED? What the.... I don't think that hunt missions should ever be more than 25.

    [/ QUOTE ]

There are so many horrible hunt missions blue side. There is even a trio (or is it more?) where they keep upping the count.

The only one I can recall red side that I hate is when I get sent to the far end of Nerva for CoT.

As to lowbie merits, yes villains get them from Kalinda and Burke. The devs have stated villains start strong but get out meritted by heroes later and they are trying to adjust that.
