I am waiting for Jack T's interview on the subject.

nit pick:
'flipping' is taking something and reselling it for a profit without modification. Buy LotG recipe, re-list same recipe for more, profit.
Buying recipes and making bank selling the crafted enhancement would be 'craft to sell', not flipping.
[/ QUOTE ]
In another thread the term 'crapping' was the winner for doing this. (I didn't vote for it.) -

Which brings me to another question: patrol xp doesn't apply to AE content. Will 2xp be shut off in AE missions as well?
[/ QUOTE ]
No one knows. Our only 'evidence' with which to speculate is that, as you pointed out, Patrol XP doesn't count. If I had to guess, I would expect double XP to *NOT* apply in AE. But since this is only a twice-yearly event, the devs might let it apply.
This creates new uncertainty for the market. If double XP doesn't apply in AE, we will see a mass exodus to the regular content and this may drive salvage prices DOWN.
[/ QUOTE ]
But all prior 2XPs were pre-MA and nothing ever went down then did it? -

People would have just PLed the old fashioned way to their first 50. I don't think it would have changed many of the problems people are having other than the people would know how to get to PI/Grandville.
[/ QUOTE ]
As someone who skipped out right when the 40 level went to 50, missed a year and a half to two years, and then played super casually until recently...
...what was the old way? Just curious, as even I am dismayed at the lack of knowledge in AE folks who should know more, of the folks I team with (a few exceptions in that).
That being said, I spent a day experimenting with it on my two fifties (I have one heroic and one villian), and found it to be... excessive.
[/ QUOTE ]
Old way => Go to PI (heroes) or Grandville (villains) and get PLed to 50. -

[ QUOTE ]
Alright...this might sound crazy but it could work...potentially.
Make AE require a level 50.
The same way EATs and VEATs are aquired.
After you reach level 50 with a character you can now make missions and you can do AE missions with any level character.
Therefore the only people doing the AE missions are people that have went through the game the original way 1-50.
This makes sense to me because I always thought of AE missions to be missions you do because you have done all the original content over and over.
Also, as a side perc...you can potentially level faster now since you have already leveled a character to 50.
I see no problem with that...I mean you have to level to 35 to get into RWZ.
[/ QUOTE ]
I actually agree with the idea that the MA -should- have been limited to people who had level 50s already, despite the general whining and bickering that would have caused.
But I think the idea of forcing that kind of restriction on the thing -now- would be amazingly unlikely. The backlash would be apocalyptic...

Most of these posts are kind of hypocritical.
It's hypocritical because the real reason your upset is because you want to make the game easier by inviting players on your task force team that know what they're doing instead of just teaching someone how to play and informing them.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, when I ask someone to join me on a Task Force, I expect them to know what they are doing. I am not their friggin' teacher, nor did I ask to be their teacher. I am all about giving someone a hand when they ask, pick up TFs are not the place for me to instruct you how to play your toon. If a player steps up to the plate, they better be able to take care of their end of things.
I figure that I am going to start asking people a bit of trivia about the game or their powers before I actually invite them to my team. Just to see if they ever left AP or not.
[/ QUOTE ]
I always let people know how few TFs/SFs I have done and especially remind them when I have not done a particular TF before however I would like to add that some of us who do run a TF once in a while are likely not up on all the specific tricks when people are used to running them all the time.
I wish I could run them all more often but time just doesn't permit it. -

Kheldians experience a very fleeting version of this when they get their Nova form, and realize that they can safely kite & blast their way through missions while their fellow heroes are still crawling on the ground like worms. But reality sets in soon thereafter, when you are mezzed & dropped from the sky for the first time.
[/ QUOTE ]
This no longer happens with the toggles not dropping change of last winter. Now you just hang out up in the air mezzed. -
[ QUOTE ]
Here's hoping that Going Rogue will introduce several rewards that can't be obtained through AE to try to coax people out.
[/ QUOTE ]
They will come to the forums and pronounce doom on the game because of it. -
[ QUOTE ]
Oh, look, another AE is ruining the game thread.
Did we really need another one of these? I doubt it. And probably not from someone who confesses he used that mechanic to get 20 level 50 characters since I14 dropped.
Players who are interested in content will do content and most likely stay around to see what else they can find in-game. Players who race to 50 to find that they are now bored will likely quit the game. As you said, OP, it's been the same thing since the game released.
Oh - and what was the question?

Mod08 needs a sticky for this theme of MA ruining the game like he did for the farming ones. -

I've got my own base on both the blue and red sides, just because of the convenience factor mentioned above. If all you're doing is flipping recipes and salvage, it's not necessary. But if you're going to do much crafting, you can save yourself a LOT of travelling time.
[ QUOTE ]
No, I even used trial accounts to pad my villain groups to get prestige to make sure I could have bins for storage.
[/ QUOTE ]
Warning that this doesn't work anymore.I tried it. Trial accounts aren't allowed to join Super/Villian Groups anymore. I had to subscribe a second account for a month to do my padding.
[/ QUOTE ]
It was a long time ago when I did it. But there are people around here who will roll up a temp guy to help people fill their SGs with their alts and then delete that character.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm pretty sure if you delete the characters it deletes the 'sign up' prestige with it unless you're also over number of toons to get the bonus (15?).
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but the point is people want to populate their SG with only their characters so they have someone else fill one spot to invite all their alts then that character is deleted. -
People tend to skip the market preferring to chase xp so there ends up being a shortfall of the common stuff then they come along with all their higher level guys looking for the IOs there.
So you make a ton selling commons during it and the top stuff after. -

Redside:
Anyone I haven't yet done in the pillar.
Blueside:
Posi TF set for 2. These days I do log the 2nd character on for the final mission, but pre-merits I rarely bothered.
Currently running Operation World Wide Red (Though thats more for a mass Titan spawn, but its pretty decent merits/time)

If not for all the Fed Ex missions I wouldn't hate it. -
You have to do the papers to get the mayhem to get the broker to give you a contact. Just like in Port Oakes and Sharkhead and Nerva.

This change to not use endurance and not take Endurance enhancements (unless part of a defensive Invention set) was made a long time ago. -

So I am not supposed to post Serpent Drummer's for 10?
You know they find them to nerf by datamining, don't you? It's the posting it that simply gets more people to do it to make it show more on datamining. -

Not new. Been there as long as I can recall just a very rare situation.

... except for my alt accounts. Mwa ha ha.

You should have put in something along the lines "if I have any to which I admit nothing". -
48 is best because once you get to 50 level 47 minions will be grey but you can do it at 47 if you play on Rugged/Vicious or higher difficulty setting. Purples can drop from 47 minions or higher.
-
Obliteration's set bonuses are okay but I prefer Eradication's. At 3 and 6 you get defense bonuses. If you work them in 3 times you can get nice AoE and Negative/Energy defenses going.
-
No one? I asked if you'd pay merits for it. (Granted I set the price obscenely high initially to see what you were willing to pay.)
-
Perma-dom.
[edited to add] They had to have killed something to get it rolling but once they got it started it keeps going. -
I can't wait till Going Rogue moves it from MA to Praetoria.
