Torak also had an avatar reminiscent of WarCraft III's Muradin and was a generally memorable and very pleasant character. I do wish he'd stuck around.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I believe that avatar was Jim Duggan, who was a wrestler in the 80's and early 90's.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It was? Didn't he say that was him? I remember he even changed it to a newer picture of the same guy at one point. Can't seem to find his old avatar, as his account page seems to have lost its pic. Think you can find a pick of this wrestler dude so we can compare memories?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Didn't his Avatar have those creepy flashing eyes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If by creepy you mean awesome, he sure did!

The caveat is that when you get into the higher levels, your pregression can slow a lot if you haven't learned to use the mitigating secondary effects of your attacks effectively. If you continue to approach every spawn "guns a-blazing", you will faceplant often in the upper levels.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Wait. You are saying that there are ways to play that don't involve rushing in and aggroing everything?

    BLASPHEMY!!!

He's a blaster. He just doesn't understand the scrapper/brute way.
  3. 25 is from stores in Talos and Independence Port.

It is the Bricks and Founders and Peregrine Island stores you need to unlock in the 30+ game.

The ones in IP and Talos should appear on your map.
  4. I will give you the horrible suggestion of trying them all.

    Dang game is so addictive...

Unlike classic MMOs where roles are vital a good player can actually use a variety of ATs to fill roles. And the villains are very much not role players (though they can be roleplayers).

You need to decide what it is you would like to do.

I find the two most role filling types, tankers and healing defenders, to be the most boring to play while I find the pet summoners (controllers, masterminds and dominators) to be the most fun but blasters, scrappers, stalkers and brutes are also a ton of fun.

So, what is it you would like to spend your time doing?

Seriously, how did this turn into people with multiple accounts get a benefit the soloist cannot except that someone who has not a single friend they can trust in the game? Sheesh.

I think we see why having a friend help with transfer is a non-starter with the OP.
  7. Not necessarily. People have to keep their inf to get to the cap so spending it is counter productive to that goal.
  8. My versions of playing the market and why I do them are:

    1. Lowball patient bidding on salvage, recipes and enhancements to save inf.

    2. Listing sales at 70-80% the high spot in the last 5 (if I believe it) to maximize profit but not wait forever for the sale.

    3. Selling garbage salvage for next to nothing to get the extra salvage storage spots.

    4. Holding on to Halloween salvage until it spikes up 9 months later and selling it for decent amounts.

    5. Quickly selling Candy Canes when they are at their peak values.

With the exception of #1 and #3 all are done to gain the max inf for the min time investment so I can get what I want to improve my character who will make lowball patient bids. Meanwhile I smash enemies for fun and profit.
  9. Fun is subjective but I can tell you which is hardest for me to make builds. I really need more slots for the forms.
  10. Name changes don't get you off lists. The list entry changes.
  11. Options:
    1. hide but that hides you from everyone
    2. ignore, they know you are on but cannot send you a tell. I am not sure why you would care if they know you are on if they cannot say anything to you
    3. petition though odds are you may simply be told to /ignore them unless they are saying something bad to you

Changing your name won't help. And deleting won't help in the long run if they have your global which is gotten very easily. They will just wait until they run across your new character and see that it is you by putting some number of stars on a player rating on you.

So what's up with this date?

    Something about rikti?

Plz don't tell me it's gonna be non-stop rikti raids

    [/ QUOTE ]

If you're in a particular zone, it will be laggy:

For 20 minutes out of every 3 hours.
If you get near the large crowds gathered together to fight the Rikti.

Now, can you think of ways of avoiding that situation if you chose to?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I cannot imagine what Cap and Atlas Park are going to be like with the AE and invasion populations at the same time.
  13. Masterminds need new powersets. Demons will be nice but 2 or 3 more would be great.

One year before the Winter Event was started I had won a costume contest with my level 1 Xmas Ork, so I ran him back and forth to Peregine Island and used the winnings to buy SO's and gave them away to new alts zoning in at the spawn point in front of Ms. Liberty.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Is there a contact for SOs in PI that doesn't make you do a mish first?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I asked whomever was around at the time to buy them, and traded the inf to them for the purchases. A couple even kicked in some of their own inf to help when I explained what I was doing.

This was before the influence beggars that have shown up over the past couple years and put a damper on Random acts of Kindness. Peoples generosity wanes when they start getting constant demands for free stuff from lazy players with entitlement delusions.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And when dropping level 50 SOs on people was thanked but dropping level 50 common recipes (worth more than those SOs were) gets you yelled at because their recipe went to the dreaded RED !

"Publisizing this information will probably lead to an decrease in the drop rate. If you like your new income, I'd consider editing the content. "

I posted that in immediate response to Mr. Turtle but you all ignored me and now our income has been nerfed severely.

Let me summarize ... I TOLD YOU SO !

  16. Yes. Someone sent me their password and account with their PLing directions. I assume they sent it to me by mistake instead of the one who was supposed to PL them.

They just want them to not be farmable - drop rate, availability, and price be damned.

    [/ QUOTE ]
What they should do is make them available to be bought somewhere ... increase supply = decreased profit = less farming. Only way to stop farming is to make it not as profitable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

They aren't looking to stop farming though they would love it if people would. They are simply looking to make it harder and thereby reduce it without increasing the supply to do so.

They want them to be rare but they want most of them to be earned "in the proper way".

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think that the level of farming for PVP IOs pretty much forced this change. The sitting ducks in bloody bay usign rez pez from the vendors and afk arena farming would be the obvious ones that were pretty high profile in a few threads here.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I hate to nitpick part of your post here, but aren't you guys always claiming that nothing we do in this backwater forum channel is gonna make the devs change anything, that it's below their radar, etc etc? Wasn't this repeated several times in this very thread a week or two ago?

The amount of farming couldn't have been THAT bad...there were still almost no PO's on the market and the prices were still sky high.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Exploits would be an exception to that concept. AFK farming PVP recipes really goes against the reason they were added in the game. I didn't need anyone posting about it in here to figure out how to do it and I doubt anyone who wanted one and had more than one account needed to be told about it.

    # Fixed PvP rewards to function once again. Now, influence, inspirations, and other normal rewards occur on every PvP kill, while PvP IO recipes can only be rewarded on rep-valid kills.

    # Fixed rep-validation to function in arenas, even though it doesn't give you any reputation in arenas.

    # Also lowering the rep timer from 10 minutes to 5 minutes.

    [/ QUOTE ]

OK I get it now, you only get rep once every 5 minutes if you kill before then the timer gets reset. this means only 6 kills per arena match can generate PVP IOs in a 1vs1

    [/ QUOTE ]
I guess I'm not familiar with this rep-validation timer then. From what you say, I get the impression that continuously killing someone in the arena will result in only 1 chance for a drop since all the other kills reset some timer? Further, if you wait 5 mins between kills (let's say 5 mins and 10 seconds to be safe) you only get 5 kills per arena match that can potentially drop an IO? And the drop rate is in the neighborhood of 1 in 75-100 according to my testing...this would mean that PvP IO's get even rarer than they already are. This seems counter-intuitive to me.

    [/ QUOTE ]

makes sense to me. you kill people in zone then you kill another person etc.. the timer will rarely kick in. in arena farming you're screwed. Elegant

    PvP IOs and me

    [ QUOTE ]
I won't scream doom or anything... but wow I'm close to it:

Patch notes for build on test - PvP IOs tied to reputation points. They cut the timer for rep from 10 minutes to 5 minutes, but same rules apply.

You kill a guy: 1 pt of rep. You may not kill that guy... and he can't kill you ... for rep for 5 minutes. If either of you kill each other in the next 5 minutes... the timer RESTARTS.

This means you can't even afk farm for 6 to 7 possible drops in arena 30-minute matches.

While this sounds like a great way to stop farming... it just absolutely crushed anyones hopes of getting complete IOs builds from here on out for pvp.

Just... wow. I'm so mad I sold as much as I did to this point...

If you have something listed... take it down NOW.

Unless someone wants to try on test to see if it's 1 in 100 still or they made it more common than that.

    Just... wow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Heh, yeah it was a "bug" when they turned PvP IOs off.

I've yet to see what Dominators have that balances against their apparently even worse survivability.

    [/ QUOTE ]

To quote Yoda (and the following would apply to controllers as well as dominators) "Control. You must learn control." and "You must unlearn what you have learned."

It may well be that controller/dom controlling will not satisfy you. I am not terribly satisfied with my blasters' lack of control in situations when I don't kill everything in one or two blasts.

But you chose Gravity which is the most controllerish primary to me. I love my Grav/Rad Controller but long loathed my grav/energy dominator because of far less damage out of domination.

Doms really struggle in their teens and likely you won't get a lot of pleasure out of a gravity one until mid to late 20s. You need to hold them and beat them to death with the secondary and use soft controlling from things like Lift to stay alive.

Once I stopped trying to play them like a controller and read the dom guides I was a lot happier with them. You have to learn to play them like they are and not try to mash them into an inverted blaster role.
  22. Not on crafted stuff that takes just a small amount of time.
  23. Login to your NCSoft account, go to the NCSoft store and buy one of the CoH titles (GvE or Architect or Mac would be better than the plain vanilla CoH or CoV ones) and then choose to add the code to a new City account under your NCSoft one.
  24. I'm only posting what I've read. Your assessment is in agreement with mine so there is likely some other reason really holding it up.
  25. It's dead, Jim.

City Vault has been shelved indefinitely since they couldn't get it to do what they wanted without negatively impacting game performance.
