You are wrong. MA missions are being used by the majority to farm and power level. That was not the intent. Reduce the rewards by half and let the MA missions be for story telling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'll bold it so maybe you get the point.

Nobody is going to waste their game time on junk that pays out 1/2 rewards

    Except those five RP'ers.

It needs competitive rewards to be useful and the devs know this.

    [/ QUOTE ]

And I'll bold this so you may get the point:

    You are wrong.

See how that clears things up?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Keep telling yourself that.

The mass of people PLing in MA indicates players want exp and they want a lot of it and they want it easy.

But please PM Posi and explain your way to him.

There's just no way the casual player is ever going to afford a purple recipe now - or is that the idea?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Correct, casual players do not care about purple sets, because they are not needed. In fact, I'd say most casual players don't care about IO sets at all.
(If you do care about purples, you might want to re-evaluate if you're actually casual or not )

I'm not a casual player and even I only have a few sets dotted on various characters.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Hi my name is Enigma Black, I'm a casual player and I care about purple sets...

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm casual too with 10 level 50s and 2 billion infamy.

One more question. Why do people try to become an ebil billionaire selling crafted enhancements? Isn't there more money and faster money to be made flipping recipes?

    [/ QUOTE ]

It really depends. I found early on that, generally speaking, crafting enhancements was vastly more profitable blueside than redside. The market may have changed some since I last looked, and of course it depends on the niche... but during my race-to-a-billion this past February (heroside) I definitely found that flipping a certain 2M recipe for 5M would result in the recipe sitting there forever, while crafting it and selling for 8M it'd sell overnight.

    [/ QUOTE ]

It's still that way. Apparently more villain players have developed the behavior to get the recipe not the enhancement to the degree that other than common IOs it is generally not as profitable to craft and sell there.

In fact they tend to go more for commons until level 50 and then seek sets far more than heroes do. At least that has been my experience in both selling and trying to buy.

May have been someones bid for 28 mill that they accidentally added a zero to, making someone very happy and rich.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Nope.

I had one drop (the way I can afford them, should I choose) that I didn't need - sold for 170 mil.

You can either be impatient and spend market prices, or be patient (and have a good network of friends) and wait for them to drop or trade. *shrug*

    [/ QUOTE ]

I am still surprised to this day that no one has setup a place for players who hate the markets to trade IOs.

    Credit towards the crafting badge.
Credit towards the enhancement selling badge.
    Easy money.
A sense of service being provided to those not interested in crafting themselves.

And I just enjoy crafting. I don't know why.
  6. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Seriously, this is a nice accolade. Craft enhancements anywhere? Nice! But the requirements are INSANE. It requires something like 40 invention badges, and at minimum 1000 crafts, not to mention a substantial investment of inf. And of those 40-something badges, 36 of them have esoteric requirements that the game doesn't show you progress on properly, so unless you're keeping track by hand you're flying blind. Hardly anyone has this accolade - only the hardcore badgers do.

The requirements need to be scaled back, and HARD. It should be something like 10 Invention badges - any 10. The badges for crafting certain categories of common IOs should no longer require both levels ending in 0 and 5 for credit; either should count, and the needs for those actual badges should be reduced. Furthermore, Uncommon, Rare, and Ultra-Rare IOs should count for the categorical badges. A level 29 Acc/Dam/Rech enhancement should count towards the badge for each the Accuracy, Damage, and Recharge badges for level 20-29.

Failing that, make all the invention badges and the progress tracking account-wide.

    [/ QUOTE ]

If getting field crafter COSTS you inf, you are basically doing it wrong. (or doing it purely for getting it quickly in which case you have chosen the most costly route)
My last field crafter was about 200 million plus when she got it.

based on your faulty premise, I dont see the need for any of your suggestions.

and don't forget that the 25-30 teir badges come with their very own nifty bonus.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    QFT/E

My last one (I have 22 of them) made 90 million in the process.

I think sometimes you see what you are seeing because someone was making a ton and someone else sees it and lists their items at the last 5 average or high of the last 5 and so it sits.

For example, when AE launched you couldn't keep level 35+ common IOs in stock for more than a day even if priced at 5-10x their crafting cost. Then as it petered down somewhat people who had listed at those high end prices weren't selling.

You can see that at various times of the day with common and uncommon salvage now too.

I am mostly of the same mindset as you. I just want to move it out but I am not going to just give it away either. So I tend to set it at a middle price and will wait a while and if it doesn't sell, I will pull it down.

    [ QUOTE ]
I personally think the prices are getting too high. I see things that cost 1 million to craft selling for 7 million or so. With those kind of markups I don't buy enhancements anymore, I'd rather take the time to craft. I would pay a 2 million markup to not have to buy/craft, but 6 million is ridiculous, and this is coming from someone who can afford to pay it. Imagine all those players who don't have huge bankrolls. This is my personal experience and I know that YMMV.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Repeat after me: Those aren't prices you see in the last 5 sales.

That's what the last 5 buyers were willing and able to pay.
  9. I tested no exp a few weeks ago on two level pacted characters of mine.

The one with exp turned off generates no exp for the pact. But the other character does and having yours turned off does not block the level pacting exp from coming in.

so in your example, B will get nothing unless B earns it as long as A is turned off from earning.

No one here is stupid and I can imagine the madness that will be double XP + AE, but what kind of message will be sent?

    [/ QUOTE ]

If they don't allow 2xp in the AE, the message will be that it is another feature that is restricted during the event. Just like patrol xp, drops, etc are restricted.

    [/ QUOTE ]

What is this!? Patrol xp doesn't work in AE? HOG POSH! saves peoples silly arses from getting debt. . . well. . . depending on how they are doing things, but using patrol XP to not get debt is the exact same, if not better than using patrol xp any other way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Way to misread the post.

I was talking about things that don't count as doubled in the 2xp event.

You don't earn double patrol xp during the 2xp event.

    Drops are not doubled.

I don't think merits are doubled either.

I rather agree with Dumple, it seems unnecessary to increase drop rates on something *that* is, from what I can tell, supposed to be very rare.

"Casual" people don't need PvP IOs, no one needs PvP IOs. To satisfy that craving, one must be willing to put in the time.

    Edit: *That*

    [/ QUOTE ]
So are you saying you agree with them nerfing the drop rate? You don't think they were rare enough already, they should be much rarer? I mean, I get the whole "they're awesome, they should rare" argument...but when does it get so rare it's ridiculous? Price is pretty much our only way to gauge scarcity and 600m for a single IO FAR outstrips the price of purples that are, in general, better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think too the problem is they are PvP drops. This inherently makes them rarer than purples.

If the goal is to get people to PvP the rarity needs to be not so rare to make people not want to bother and not so common as to make them pointless.

I think they would probably be best served to have more PvP sets where we have rare ones and very good uncommon ones which would entice people to want to PvP.

tl;dr I agree with Stillhart's point but I am not familiar with the rates in question.

  14. I always make sure to tell them that the forums and paragonwiki are very important because there really is too much to the game to convey in chat.

Patrons are an excellent example of that. I remember a 10 minute conversation with someone last year trying to give them some market basics and explain how I really wasn't level 10 (I was doing an Ouros arc and had hit the market).

I really think there just needs to be some way to let the new AE people know there is a big world out there. Yes, the leveling will be slower in general but there's a lot of cool things to see and stories to experience.
  15. [ QUOTE ]
Yeah I'd wait to see what extra details on I16 get released later this month.

This. I am really hyped about the game's future. I can't shake the feeling some huge things are coming.
  16. Definitely a big want of mine but I also recognize it would be a huge deal to make happen.

I have to believe it is on their to-do list and someday we may get it.

  19. My preferred Dwarf slotting is:
    (cheap)
    End Mod
    End Red
    Dam Res x3

    (middle)
    Efficacy Adaptor: End Mod
    Efficacy Adaptor: End Mod/Endurance
    Impervius Skin: Resistance/Endurance
    Impervium Armor: Resistance/Endurance
    Impervium Armor: Resistance
    Reactive Armor: Resistance/Endurance

    (expensive)
    Perf Shifter: +End
    Perf Shifter: End Mod
    Impervium Armor: Resistance
    Impervium Armor: Resistance/Endurance
    Impervium Armor: Resistance/Endurance/Recharge
Impervium Armor: Psionic Resistance (I put this in my human resist powers too. dang Carnies take that!)
The 4 Imp Armors give me 2.25% more endurance too.

    PvP IOs and me

I'll counter with it was a bug in that the drop rule change went in ahead of the rep rule change resulting in no drops.

But they knew they were planning to make this change and held that info back.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
I don't know; I'm thinking out loud. There's this ability to get 50K or 100K for some common salvage these days. Rare salvage seems to be a pretty constant 500K to a million. I'd probably grab 30 common salvage, put it at Wents, grab another 30 and you should have stacks of 8-12 of just about everything. Put em up for sale at 44K or 88K, depending on your confidence, wait a day, and throw out the ones that didn't sell.

Or I could buy your gold rolls for 8 million apiece, with a little advance notice.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I tried both routes in the past week on 2 heroes.

The common salvage seller made out like a bandit but the bronze roller only got one that wasn't vendor trash. So while the bronze rolls could have been better the common salvage was a sure thing.

    Cool, thanks for the responses.

Sounds like I'm gonna AE til I get my travel power and then head out to see the world

    [/ QUOTE ]

Are you aware of the temp travel powers awarded in the Atlas Park and Kings Row safeguard missions?

At levels 5-9 once you complete 3 radio missions in Kings Row your detective will give you the AP safeguard. At 10 you have a 50/50 chance of AP or KR safeguards and at 11-14 you will get the KR one.

The AP one gives you a 2 hour flight pack and the KR one gives you a 2 hour super jump pack.

Oh I was redside. Now I feel bad.

I know that the lower the level on these, the more valuable they are because of the exemplar rules.

Yeah, they are... and the one i mentioned was lvl 30, so yours may have been worth more.
Although just like with LotG some people prefer the higher lvl ones because of the resistance component in it.

The lower level ones should be worth more but sometimes they aren't because people are stuck in bigger is better thinking on the levels.
