Mastermind - Kinetics (yeah right like this will happen)

With the recent pet change to not taking speed ups would it really be that broken now? -

Ok, that does it. You people are forcing me to take all 3 accounts to the arena now...
[/ QUOTE ]
lol...I thought the same thing.
In fact, put a sticky on my 2nd monitor to remind myself: YOU. ARENA. NAO!
[/ QUOTE ]
I need a math guru.
If 2 people 3 box, are the odds better, worse or the same if they put all 6 in one arena setting or have 3 in 2 arena settings or 2 in 3 arena settings?
No reason I am asking, just curious... -

Head to Dark Astoria, just off Talos Island. Run into the first group of zombies you see, obliterate them, then repeat.
be warned, zombie bowling is addictive. before you know it, it will be 4 hours later.

Congratz!
I've been playing my 50s a lot lately but I am in a dry spell. Stupid purples. -

DA is more efficient than regular mission play, but MA is yards more efficient than DA.
Which is pretty hilarious, considering the dev's daydream that we not use it for farming.
[/ QUOTE ]
You know, I had this revelation a little while ago that I keep thinking about posting, but the other threads on MA farming are too depressing, so I'll say it here where no one will care.
The canon explanation for the MA is that it's a combat simulator. Of course people are going to ruthlessly farm it - RP almost demands it, particularly villainside.
And of course I had to write a story with that as the theme, which turned out to be Power Progression.
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never understood, from a RP perspective, how a simulator gives equal experience and especially equal influence/infamy as a real mission.
But those other MA threads are like all the Jerry Springer and wannabe shows. All the same. Not worth watching. -

That unless they figure out a way to make rewards on regular mishes not suffer horrifically if they nerf farming again, that the only people using the AE will be the nutcases who advocate AE being absolutely free of any rewards at all?
[/ QUOTE ]
Balancing out rewards between MA and the real world isn't as difficult as you seem to think.
There is plenty of middle ground to find between OMG FARMTOPIA and /E RP UNIVERSE.
[/ QUOTE ]
Oh please. even roleplayers like me dont want the AE stripped of rewards. >.>
[/ QUOTE ]
Middle ground = stripped? -
I've been doing this since MA launched. Made over 100 million selling common and uncommon salvage.
People still pay me 50k for them when they could get them for 50. -

I am not talking about the genre, or other MMOs. I am talking about this game and its the pitiful amount of attention the end game has. You have a choice of ITF, LGTF, STF, LRTF and the KTF plus 2 zone raids. All your other options are going back to do contect you could have done before you capped and maxed out your toon.
So your options are to go back and repeat what you've done, farm for an alts build, or play something else to 50 through all the same content again.
There is a reason this game never really grows. It takes what is a great idea, and some great systems and then expects its players to go play dress up dolls.
I for one am sick of it.
I used to like the people in this community but everyone, in game and on the forums, has really turned into a bunch of jerks. Myself included. Its a shame how far and how fast this game is falling.

Not everyone. But don't let the door hit you... -
On the plus side, we have a perfect example when someone asks what "entitlement" means.

110020000110001000000Can anyone verify that this bug is gone?
[/ QUOTE ]
I hate this bug. It's a minor issue ultimately since it isn't crashing servers or corrupting data, but it is highly visible, distracting and annoying.
What's broken and why is it taking so long to fix? The key problem here is way back when, someone decided it would be a good idea to have three separate keyboard input interpreters and any changes done have to play "house of cards" game with the three. The current set of bugs began appearing a while back when we started making changes to implement the mission editor, which morphed into the Mission Architect.
I've no doubt that it will be fixed at some point; I just wanted to basically point out that, yes, we're aware of it and yes, we are trying to fix it. It's just an enormously more complicated task that it "should" be.
[/ QUOTE ]
There you go. Castle says Mission Architect needs to be backed out. -

Personally I'd like to see AE shut down for.. ahem... Maintenance during double XP.. I'd get a laugh at all the "you mean I need to go OUTSIDE??" comments.

While I was reading I was thinking, 'I really don't care whether it gets 2xp." But this would be hilarious.
[/ QUOTE ]
Very true. -
[ QUOTE ]
Poopy, im'ma break it down for ya, k?
This is what the devs see roughly:
-PvE crowd doesn't want to pvp becuase supposedly "All that matters is build and IOs, and all the hard core pvpers will kill use" when in reality, they don't want to pvp simply cuz they don't enjoy it
-I13-15, the devs kill pvp to supposedly shift away power from hardcore pvpers (Fail)
-Now the devs have to get something that gets the pve crowd to pvp, EVEN if its jsut to farm, now they have to face the undeniable fact that, pve'rs aren't not pvping becuase there is no reward, they aren't pvping becuase they dont *Want to*
Its not a matter of the devs trying to award hard core pvpers etc, its a matter of the devs being in denial about I13s failure
[/ QUOTE ]
True and also in denial about who PvPs and why. -
[ QUOTE ]
Poopy, if you miss this, i want you to get glasses
THEY AREN'T TRYING TO FIX PVP
They made changes in I13-15 to make the pvp for carebears, now they have to GET these carebears to TRY the new pvp, now the carebears will hate it and go away, and yes prolly farm pvp ios, but who really cares?
THis is the same [censored] as pvp badge
"ZOMG THEY KNAT FRAM TEH PVP BADJE TEHY MUST EARN IT!!!"
/e facepalm
[/ QUOTE ]
Which is why PvP in this game is never going to work well. The anti-PvP crowd wants the PvE shinies (note all the threads whining about having to set foot in the PvP zones for badges let alone do stuff for shivans and nukes) but they don't want to really PvP.
So looking at our 3ish kinds of PvPer types as hardcore, carebear and uncommitted what is the objective?
Nothing will make the anti-PvPers (carebears) PvP. They might arena farm for the shinies or sneak in for badges and powers but they are not going to PvP and they aren't going to try it and like it. They will never have a Green Eggs and Ham moment.
The hardcore probably aren't interested in ganking carebears other than the far extreme who want to drive them out of "their zones". They will PvP as long as there is someone there to PvP. You can only drive them away by making PvP unfun for them. (Perhaps I13 has done that for many.)
The real question is are there enough of that last group who will have their Green Eggs and Ham moment if they try it? -
They could probably have people gain exp and drops in PvP zones and not the arena because honestly I don't think people who dislike PvP would hang there very long when PvPers are there.
That may be one area of the game where they want to forget the "pro-casual player" attitude and recommend people practice in the arenas. -
True but he probably would see it in General too.
And Happy Birthday, MB! -

[ QUOTE ]
So you're saying the devs intended to have a bunch of wannabe-PvPers in the zones in search of loot?
[/ QUOTE ]
This is blindingly obvious.
They ran off a lot of the 'old' pvp crew with the recent changes.
It makes perfect sense to add some sort of real rewards to lure new ones in, especially given the prevalence of the attitude "why should I pvp when there are no rewards?"
They clearly weren't happy with the previous status quo of a small population of increasingly hardcore players and wanted to shake things up. Drawing new players with good rewards is part of that strategy.
[/ QUOTE ]
And they had to make defeating other players part of the equation because we can get shivans and nukes when no one else is in the zones which I think is really stupid.
But this and bounties in Sirens are also really stupid because you have to get other people in the zones. Something which you have no control over.
I think they need to go back to square one and figure out what would either motivate current players to PvP or attract PvPers to the PvP minigame. -
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
But until that time the current crop of pvp IO's are the ONLY meaningful pvp rewards, and as far as we know the only ones coming. So putting them on a drop rate where engaging in active pvp does not reward them totally defeats their purpose.
[/ QUOTE ]
No, the ONLY meaningful PvPing reward is the actual PvPing itself. The thrill, the rush, the tactics of facing against real enemies, not drones waiting to be herded like cattle. There were PvPers before any PvP IOs were introduced. The loot concept is strictly a PvE ideal. It's why PvP-oriented games like Guild Wars de-emphasized loot and concentrated on builds and skill.
Don't bother PvPing if you're going to PvP with a PvE mentality. If you actually wanted to PvP, you would try to be good first before even thinking about any loot you "deserved" for your effort. The learning curve and the reward curve is much, much steeper in PvP than in PvE.
[/ QUOTE ]
I am not a PvPer but what you wrote makes a lot of sense to me. -

The way this game works allows for a unique type of player- the "casual hardcore".

Oh well. Enjoy your power leveling and lazy style of play while you can because it wont last forever.
[/ QUOTE ]
What makes you think he power levels and is lazy?
[/ QUOTE ]
I can't speak for Nethergoat but I'm very anti-farm/anti-PL and I still think a blanket nerf to AE rewards is stupid and will cause people to stop using it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but it is an age old tactic to disparage people who disagree with you when you cannot disagree with their point. -
[ QUOTE ]
Nice taking quotes out of context there. Good stuff.
You can't blame buyers entirely, sellers play just as big a part of it. Just because an item is highly valued or in high demand doesn't mean that they have to set their prices so high, but they do anyway.
[/ QUOTE ]
A buyer paid that price you see in the last 5. If no one did, the prices would go down.
High prices are entirely the fault of the buyers and not the sellers. -

It's really easy to make money in this game.
Here's how I make money on both sides of the game, since I can only log in for 1-2 hours at a time.
1. I run PvE content until salvage is full
2. I then run AE missions for some tickets
3. I then roll bronze rewards with my tickets until recipes full
4. Check market, craft profitable recipes
5. Sell IOs
That's it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Too much work.
I use your #1 and my version of your #5 is sell common and uncommon salvage.
