Took my level 50 Robots/Thermal to Cap.
Summoned all the bots and did both upgrades plus the 2 fire shields on the Assault Bot.
Entered Bloody Bay and...
All my robots were gone.
Resummoned them all. Obviously I could not give the second buff in BB so I gave them the first and watched my Assault Bot die. Put the shields on one of the Protector Bots.
Exited Bloody Bay for Cap and ...
All the pets were gone.
So (being very stubborn) I summoned all my robots again to see if they would zone at all. I went to the Black Helicopter to Mercy and they zoned and were no longer mine to control and I could not summon them.
So it is badly bugged again. -
Quote:Just to be clear, I would be all over a lifetime sub but I just figure it isn't going to happen. Meanwhile I jump on each of their loyalty things. I think I have 4 free months after the most recent go around.I believe LoTR offers a lifetime sub with each new expansion and only for a limited time. They also restrict lifetime subs to the US and Canada.
I would also take advantage of a lifetime sub for this game but I have to ask myself how NCSoft is going to make up for the loss of revenue.
I have no doubt a great many of us are vets of several years and most if not all would jump at the chance to get a lifetime sub. So where's the money going to come from when the monthly sub fees dry up?
No more free issues every few months, and a shift to paid expansions every couple of years.
An even bigger shift to microtransactions.
Or worse, the game closes its doors. -
Word.
I am looking at 20 new characters for Issue 16 and then someday GR will give me yet more.
I'll be needing to buy more slots again. -

Quote:Not really. Don't pets die now after a minute if a level disparity continues? (for example if your Mentor gets out of range for too long).
Not with Super Sidekicking. We aren't on a leash any more. We can even be in different zones.
This is not to say if you drop to level 20 or lower your 3rd tier pet won't die but there is also an optional notification that your level is about to change and a 30 second window before it takes effect. -
Quote:I'll check this out on Test tonight (assuming I can get in) and see what happens.Holy hell, I cannot wait for this to hit live. Just last night I rejoined my ITF group on the last mission, and was met by a door ambush before I could summon my pets. No more!
I have some questions about it though... Think about Bloody Bay that auto malfactors you to 25. You could, in theory, summon all your pets outside of bloody bay, do both upgrades, then zone in and destroy stuff! According to new exemp rules, you would be able to summon the tier 3 in Bloody Bay, so no problem there. (You get powers up to 5 levels higher than your exemp level) The problem is that you shouldn't have the the level 32 upgrade, but you zoned in with pre-buffed pets... Overpowered and a half, anyone? -
Be sure to check this out if you can on test.
Sometimes our pets would be unable to be controlled and would not dismiss either when we did certain zonings so better to identify all those instances now rather than when it goes live.
This is an awesome change. -
Quote:Lifetime subscriptions are great ways to make quick money on game startup, to help repay investors quickly. They aren't that great for a game that has been out for 5.5 years. At this point, as much as I love this game, but it will soon begin to fade as newer games come out, vets get burned out on it, etc.
THIS GAME WILL NEVER FADE!!!
Quote:Does this game have enough life left in it to make it worth a lifetime subscription? Does it make economic sense for the Devs to even offer it at this point in the game's life? Do they need a quick infusion of cash more than they need the steady stream of income? -
And when do those other MMOs offer the lifetime option? And when do they pull them off the shelf from purchase?
When you find the answer to that you may realize why we won't get that option here. -
I want my Demon Summoning Masterminds. Yesterday.

Quote:For me that is because "well at least I can do something".well on the plus side, this morning really made me appreciate the little amenities they've added to the game over the years.
Minus Oro the trek from the tail end of Bricks to Perez Park is a decent hike, and pre-mission dropping I'd be stuck with that 'hunt rikti' until I leveled a time or two and trivialized the mentalists. And all the time I spent getting held would have sucked a lot worse without 'newfiance'. Being able to plink away while you're held makes it a lot less annoying, for some reason. -
They should at least add in some code to those kind of arcs where the contact acknowledges he is sending you back and forth.
"Hey 'goat, you look like you could use some exercise. How about you run back to Atlas Park and see ..." -
Whatever they are selling, if it is for City* I am buying.
I love this game. -
I am reminded of the old School House Rock's "My Hero Zero".
-
Your story is better than mine. At least I was on a pre-I9 poor level 50 when I was begged at.
-
I prefer getting Tactics. Then my pets and I benefit.
-
Merits do allow direct purchase by level but I think it costs 200 merits so it's not the best choice.
If you are in no hurry WWs is still best, just bid lower and wait.
Lower level stuff is rarer because:
1. people level fast
2. AE people tend to hold tickets before rolling so lower level ones are not generated as often
If you want pool A drops using Ouroboros can be helpful to go down to the level you want.
Also you can post your list of what you want here and see if some one has some or all of it to sell you. -
Quote:I was thinking about this and the CoV zone that popped into my mind to contrast Atlas Park was Grandville. Then I realized how interesting it is (story wise) that the center of the hero world is the beginning and the center of the villain world is the end. (Center is my attempt to describe a point of attention.)I agree about the generally claustrophobic feel of CoV- which wouldn't have to be a bad thing, except that the design coupled with the monochromatic color scheme and the repetitious game art the overall effect is more "messy and dirty" than "evil and oppressive".
Plus there are no natural gathering spots ala Atlas Park or Portal Corps, or at least there weren't before the addition of MA (which don't look like they belong in the Rogue Isles at all, haw).
CoV is about Recluse while CoH is about the new hero seeing the heroic statue of Atlas and the flag waving over the City Hall. In CoH the new hero is welcomed with the shining premise of doing great deeds while in CoV I may be the chosen one but I am going to have to prove it and meanwhile I am going to be treated like poo on the street.
CoV needs new leadership. We need a man like Lex Luthor. -
Quote:<3 Moderator 08!Discussing CO's impact on the in game market is a valid topic. Straying from that topic to discuss CO will get this thread moved to Comic Hero/Villain Culture. Comparing CO and CoH is not acceptable.
The rules are designed to contribute to a free and open exchange of ideas. Unfortunately threads which contain much direct comparison between the games devolve rather quickly into a free and open exchange of criticism and personal attack. Hence they are against the rules.
For the record, I'm not concerned with CO's release in regards to my market strategy. I'm going with a combination of buying recipes and crafting them (a.k.a. manual labor) and long term stocking for the next double xp weekend. My target goal is somewhere in the billion profit range, since I have a perma PA Ill/rad to finish and a soft capped nin stalker. These strategies are netting me a comfortable 100 million a week plus I am steadily filling up my reserves and setting up long term sales.
If I were concerned with CO causing any sort of market fluctuation or unpredictability, I would focus entirely on short term profit strategies and hold almost no inventory. Given what I'm seeing on the market this morning (I was away for the weekend, which seriously limited my profit) I'm guessing the majority of the ebil agree with my assessment because I'm seeing a lot of activity that indicates to me that others are doing some serious bulk purchasing or at least making significant market manuevers perhaps because of the increased price volatility since the last double xp. -
I agree but I have found only two things seem to sway them:
1. loud wailing (costume recipes)
2. money(character slots)
So how much are we willing to pay to get an account wide storage or email stuff function? (Wailing hasn't worked so I give up on that one.) -
Quote:And this is the part that utterly mystifies me. Why are they so opposed to it? All they are doing is causing an inconvenience. They are not stopping money sharing between characters on the same account. Just last night I moved funds over to a lowbie Brute I am leveling. It was annoying and a hassel and reduced the amount of time I had to actually play the game.
I'll say it again: The Devs aren't stopping same account transfers of funds from happening. They are just making it annoying. Obnoxiously so in my opinion, especially in light of the ease with which this can be accomplished in other games, some of which are as old or older than CoH.
PS: Swellguy, sorry if I come across like I'm jumping on you. I'm not, obviously, as you've expressed a desire to have this feature too. It's just that the Devs ridiculous stance on this has me riled, and I've had an annoying week at work.
This is my theory on why it is dev opposed but I cannot prove it and no one will convince me I am wrong either*.
The devs have an idea of the game, canon, of how things ought to be. Part of that is no trading between heroes and villains. I expect this is so ingrained that even Going Rogue will not change that. *If I turn out to be wrong I will happily eat crow though I hope someone will provide fries and ketchup to go with it.
Another part of that is no twinking.
The root concept of these positions really goes to a particular opinion on how to roleplay our characters. I will always believe the markets between heroes and villains were not merged due to that consideration not the inf discrepancy. I'm weary of the debates on it but my characters got rich in the markets so my villains would have fared just as well as my heroes.
I do not mean to say this roleplaying concept is wrong in any way. But it is unassailable because you cannot argue with it. It is a win by fiat. As a comparable example, why can Kheldians not access the teleport and flight pools? While it may have once been due to some internal game constraints surely that could have been resolved by now or alternative powers could have been made for Khelds to access the powers they cannot just as Peacebringers have "hover" and "fly" why not human form teleport or an air superiority power?
I guess I would say if you have a PnP game background it is just something you have to accept and try to politely sway the GM about but ultimately we are stuck with the powers that be and what they decide. It's their world and we are just playing in it. -
Quote:I would love an account storage feature but an email feature would lack the ability (as it is now) for cross server transfers. So I guess one hurdle is would it be a cross server feature or not.The naysayers can say what they will, but CoH remains the ONLY MMO I have played that does NOT allow someone to easily transfer money and/or items to their own characters. People are not asking for some pie in the sky ground-breaking functionality. They are asking for what is a standard feature of the majority of MMO's.
When CoH had no economy or crafting system I could see it. Those days are over. The Devs added an economy and loot. In for a penny, in for a pound.
But I believe the devs are steadfastly opposed to us being able to do it so I shall continue to have each of my characters go it alone which isn't too hard in this game. -
I'd just hide my inf on impossible market bids if this were implemented.

I'd recommend checking your firewall settings.
