And it would not be limited to just recipes. It would have included the salvage as well.

Quote:You can get those as jokes though too. Like "devs hate villains".Not this either. I think it would be best if Pohsyb explained it. Sounds like an old bug that appeared to somehow manifest in I16. Personally, I blame it on code gnomes. They're up to no good, it's just their nature.
Synapse
PS: I love the tags on this thread. They've made me laugh, boggle and shake my head. "devs dont care"Not true! "devs dont care" okay, that's better.
We should turn this into a forum game similar to 20 questions: "Guess the bug source." -
1. Yes and predicted it
2. Yes
3. People left AE and returned to playing the game where salvage drops instead of tickets.
It will not turn around unless something is introduced to draw players to activities which do not produce salvage drops.
However this should also result in the rise again of rare salvage and recipes/enhancements since tickets are no longer being generated and buying those items. -
I love the game so I love the devs who make it.

My warshade has been in Ouroboros' mode only both before and after I16 running Unai's To Save a Thousand Worlds arc and it has been horrible since I16. So I don't think it is universally binary around that.
It is possible it interacts with it and can vary by character or login or some other feature. -
Quote:They CAN be played like scrappers but they do not inherently play like scrappers.I don't see a stalker listed in your character list, so you can't talk. They definately play like scrappers. <_<
Brutes play exactly the same way: run in and flail away.
I have a 50 scrapper, brute and stalker. -
Players won't just be good or evil, they will also be in between per Matt's (Positron) interview on tentonhammer.
I don't think having 3 different names for each AT depending on where they are in the alignment move makes a lot of sense and it certainly will just be a source of confusion. -
Quote:Just view each one as Bruce Willis' character in "Die Hard" saying "Welcome to the party, pal!"That's not the thread the poster was referring to. He mentioned Beta, not the market forums. I didn't realize there was another thread and it seems I'll be told this repeatly today. :/

Quote:But other than costume recipes and purples we can buy recipes and salvage. It is just that the currency is merits and tickets.Hi!
I have advocated, and been flamed much for it, for vendors selling salvage and recipies as a market price control. For example, you can buy IO recipes (not inventions) at the university right now, therefore the prices players may ask for an accuracy 50 will be limited by how much a player could simply buy it at the university. Frankly I would like to see the same practice with inventions, of course the prices at the university need to really make sense and be appropriate for the rarity and uselfuness of the invention recipe. It would also be so cool, if you could buy the recipe and its ingredients at the same time from the university as well, kinda like a package deal.
It is true, that the glitter of the market may be noticeably reduced for the exhorbitant profits to be made there will essentially go away. But good money can still be made, just not exhorbitant.

I blew my 1.4 billion my warshade had last night on as many purples as I could get and lacked.
If Synapse is right and we are crazy and the recipe drop rates are fine, I overspent. If the players are right and there is a problem and the recipe drop rates are broken, I probably saved 10 billion influence over the long haul. (This is just comparing it to the PvP recipe situation.) -
Quote:Did you read his post on the tests he ran versus all the posts from the players?A buttload? No. Some? Yes. But obviously it didn't help since Synapse ran his own tests and found nothing out of place.
As a software developer I'd be embarrassed to dismiss all the player posts with what he posted. -
Quote:People have been posting their defeats and settings and recipe and salvage drops since it was in beta and since it has gone live. There is a very long thread in the Market forum where Synapse told us it was a perception issue as well as the long thread people have put in the I16 testing forum.I think if anyone is going to convince the developers of a bug, or decreased drop rate then we are going to need alot more hard data, and not the ancedotal type.
We need to start posting our evidence that supports the decrease in drop rates that people are experiencing. If the devs can't find what is broken, then they can't fix it.
Please start posting your data. You should probably include Server, Time, Character, what mission(s), your difficulty, the amount of kills and the amount of recipe drops (sets and commons should be separated). And any other info that might be helpful. -
Quote:I was going to comment this morning that over 5 hours of hammering enemies yielded me a whopping 5 recipes total. Then I changed to some characters I hadn't played in a while and got 5 recipes in 30 minutes. Both of them were on the default +0/1 hero setting while the other was on +0/3 heroes setting.Hmmm...so I changed from being in SG mode and noticed my rates are a lot lower...
I'm going to alternate the next few nights between being in and out of SG mode and see if that doesn't yield any differences. Anybody else is more than welcome to join me in seeing if this isn't the cause of the borked recipe drop rates. Salvage still seems to be raining from the sky.
But the two were also in SG mode while the one with so few drops was not.
Being told it was a perception issue is somewhat offensive at this point especially at the number of posts by people with hard numbers.
I'm just going to go play new lowbies who cannot get recipes any way until this is resolved. -
True. I've had one ever.

And what is it with all these new DOOM criers that don't know how to spell or use capitalization?
I'm not a grammar nazi or anything, but do they purposefully type like a child? Because that's usually how they sound in their posts anyway so I guess they like to go the whole method acting route for our enjoyment.

I wish I knew more about Vista but I just got my machine a couple weeks ago and it worked properly out of the box and the only things I have put on it are City, iTunes, MS Office and MS Visual Studio.
With Win7 coming, I didn't see much reason to learn more about Vista. -
Quote:SOs and SO stores really sullied people's thinking on enhancements and until the entitlement complainers get that IOs are truly an optional improvement system, loot, they will never understand what is going on.Further, if everyone could get 'the best' sets, why have anything else available in the system at all ?
The whole idea of loot is that you have different tiers, such that everyone can get onto the ladder at some point, but not everyone can climb to the top straight away. -

Scratch part of my reply. Bill doesn't have how to transfer in his signature any more.
The basics are make a backup of the City folder on the one computer and copy it to the new one. When you do get the updater to work tell it "no" to installing to the default directory and just point it to the new one.
This won't help you until you can get the updater to respond though. You should also check your firewall, anti-virus and the UAC setting.
The following site explains how to setup the CoH updater (once you have it working) to bypass the UAC:

I believe there is a thread in the technical section on common Vista problems. The first thing is even though you have a new computer I have often found in the past they don't have up to date drivers so be certain you have them.
I'd also recommend you find BillZBubba's explanation on how to copy City to a new computer because you really won't want to wait many hours for it to download and such. It may still be in his signature or it is in the tech forum also.
Good luck. -
It sounds like you need to take a break from playing which is pretty typical of normal people.
Eventually it makes sense that someone would play enough that even a new mission, arc, zone would just be the same but different. I think that is simply burnout.
I'd recommend something completely different for a while like an RTS perhaps.
If I get burned out I plan to return to Roller Coaster Tycoon. In fact there are times I wish I would get sick of this game so I would play RCT. -
Does your new computer have Vista?
