Quote:It's "Star Wars". That label generates a certain amount of business no matter how lame the product is especially when there isn't an alternative Star Wars title to draw a player.I admit to being vaguely surprised any of them are still open now.
The only thing that can really kill it is the Lucas' license fees get larger than the profits. -
Quote:I felt like I saw doublespeak on the SWG server closure.Lol. I'm sure we could find people that can verify other MMO's have charged more than $10 for a similar service. I think WoW charges $25 - $30, and EverQuest is $50.
SWG is closing 12 of their servers and has told the players on those servers they have until October 15, 2009 to move their characters or:
"Beginning October 16th, 2009 at 12:01 AM PT you will be able to contact Customer Support and for the standard Character Transfer fee of $50.00 you will be able to schedule a transfer for your character, eligible structures and inventory."
So I think we got a pretty good deal. It's not cheap, but it isn't outrageous compared to others.
Quote:Due to the overwhelming success of the recent Free Character Transfer Service, we want to inform you that on October 15, 2009, at 5:00 PM PT, Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) will close the following 12 Star Wars Galaxies servers: -

Quote:This x big numberMy own little anecdote from last night. Started a duo with my wife, we have a special teaming night we have missed for a coupel of weeks and our characters dropepd back a few levels.
Within a couple of mins, that was upto a team of 4, then for most of the night it was a team of 8.
We were 24 to start, and got through to 26. On the team were a couple of folks in the low 30s, some in the 20s and a couple of lowbies with jetpacks.
Now the latter would happily have been sidekicked before, but the keeping powers when -5 levels and XP when exemping meant the 30s folks were more than happy to tag along.
I simply cannot praise the whole SSK package enough for making it easy to build and maintain teams. It has been a paradigm shift, that will take some time, beofre it is fully appreciated.
I used to exemp just to play with some people in the past but now there is almost no downside for me (unless I exemp way down). I had always preferred exemplaring to SKing to avoid the leash length and now we don't have that pain either.
I16 was a huge sack of win in many ways. -

This made my day (news that it is going to Live tomorrow).
Thanks to all you number crunchers and the devs for not giving up on it. -
Quote:Yet every thread asking to merge the servers is because the person posting wants more people on their server. It is never a business driven post by the company. The most important thing you guys need to remember above all else is that Paragon is running a business. They aren't hosting a game to cater to your personal wants and needs.
People on the low pop servers will not happily join the large pop servers if it occurs. Some will quit. And it is a signal that a game is dying so it will deter some people from trying or buying the game which is another cost.
It isn't the rainbows and ponies the pro-merger people think it will be. -

BTW, I hate all of you who have spouses or significant others (use whatever terms you like) who will game with you.
I even hate those of you who don't get nagged for playing.
(Not bad hate, just bitter envy.)

Quote:You can minimize it (advice to those who may want to).I will still see what people say in my rep section. Although I still love reading them cause it brings great lulz to my day thinking people can "hurt" my feelings like this. So I made a fun thread about us evil farmers
Mostly the neg reppers hurt my brain since all too often I have no idea what they are talking about. -
Doomguide is correct.
The beauty of Ouroboros and TF/SF is everyone who is on the team gets the merits at the end as long as they are in the final mission long enough to qualify for the award versus story arcs which only provide merits to the arc holder. -

I try again.
Sometimes it can happen a couple times in a row.
If it continues to happen you should check your firewall settings. -
Missing does not mean skipping. For example my lowbie heroes always miss the other 4 origin contacts' missions at levels 1-5 but I am not skipping it. My villains always take Kalinda so I always miss Burke but I am not skipping him.

Quote:That was because they had to. But now you can get xp when exemplared so as long as there is some new character to be the leader at the lower level people won't have to.There are many differences between the sewers and the AE, but the one that strikes me as most relevant here is that people generally leave the sewers, and go on to do other things in other zones.
I think someone should level up to 50 in the sewers to see how fast it can be done.
Don't look at me, I have never done the sewers and would die of boredom before I got to 50.
