well going for an all defensive tanker means i'm going for armors and taunt in the short description.

at lvl 6 as my tank is there isnt much to end problems s thats not an issue.
With the build looking as :

Ice Armor
Chilling embrace
Hoarfrost
Wet Ice

there isnt much "killer" in me, i use what means i have to keep aggro
Chilling Embrace is always on and Brawl, Frozen Fists and the "inherent" temp is used to keep punchwoke going. and for a lvl 6 thats a lot of aggro work imo...

If you have frozen fists and are using it, then I don't see what the problem is to be honest.

I don't think the pvp immunity comes into it that much to be honest. If I hold someone for that lenght of time, then they are usually already dead. Even if they don't die and the immunity comes into effect, then they already have so many debuffs on them that all they can do is struggle and run very, very slow.

With all due respect, the hold duration IS the vital number on how many holds you can get to overlap. No point having them recharge every 3 secs if they are just lasting 2.5 secs...

And please look at Sgt. figures again. The first one with 3 hold duration, not only held longer - but it was more stackable.

Of course the best was 2/2/2.....so why are you thinking otherwise and is it US that should go back and look at how holds work in PvE or you?

I agree. Remember folks....everyone with a tray of BF's is a melee in effect - so you have to stack on everyone.

Stacking is key in fights. You get them to run out of bf's quicker whether they are a blaster or a GA tank.

No. You are unlikely to break through if you cannot spam them fast enough. The advange is that the end cost is less.

There are 2 advantages to a fast recharge rather than a long hold.

1. Is that if you want to hold more than 1 opponent (or a pet as well as the player). Especially if they have low mag resistance and you just need the pet held for a few seconds while you kill the MM/Controller.

2. Also, helps to hold more often and not for as long if the other player has many toggles to activate.

Its better to hold that player for a short time-frequently, than to hold him for a long time-on just a few occassions.

Do people on these boards actually know how hold stacking works?

The ammount you can stack depends on the first holds duration. The real idea of holds stacking is to either break a large mezz protection or make the other person use 2 bf's in prder to wear their bf supply down as fast as possible.

I think you can get the same mezz from going high duration, low recharge as low duration, high recharge.

However, the high duration, low recharge has one obvious advantage over the other one.

Can some intelligent person guess what it is....?

I gues what it comes down to is this.

Low duration, high recharge = bad?
high duration, low recharge = bad?
medium duration, medium recharge = good?

I'm not sure exactly how the numbers work out, i'm sure the U.S. forums will have this answered somewhere, but my search fu is set to lazy at the moment.

Having the holds last longer helps you to stack them though.

Wow? How did you get 7 slots on your hold?

I prefer 3 holds, 2 accs and 1 rechg. Freeze ray uses a bit more endurance than Ice Bolt, thus an endredux there isn't that good idea IMO.

Technically, this is how my char is slotted.

1 Accuracy, 1 Endoplasm Exposure, 1 hold duration, 1 hold duration, 1 recharge, 1 recharge.

Which totals 2 acc, 3 hold, 2 recharge.

Hopefully this league won't take too long to complete although there have only been a handful of results so far. I don't know whether people can handle the freedom of arranging thier own matches to be honest. Seems like unless someone tells them what place and at what time, they just forget or don't bother.

I don't know how much end your hold uses but I know my char doesn't use much at all, so maybe that end reduction might be better off elsewhere?

I currently have my char slotted, 2 acc, 3 hold and 2 recharge which is enough to stack 4 holds at the same time which breaks a tanks and khelds dwarf inherent mezz protection. With hasten and vanguard, I can break through GA and rooted.

The reason I would say that 2 hold and 2 recharge is that if you incrase one of those to 3, you do lose about 5% I think on the SO. I'm sure someone here will be able to number crunch and work out the best balance, but I like my holds to rechage quite fast in case one misses.

You can do any of your matches in any order you want.

I think poison trap from the traps set for MM does. I realise that Hami is hero side only, but you never know when you might get the occassional hero MM in the not too distant future.

So what other powers have big mags then?

I have to say that I am hugely disappointed in the 2 people who have withdrawn once the league has started. It really shows a lack of commitment and consideration for others too.

Your name will have to stay on for the moment while I decide what to do with the results of the matches you have lost and are not going to play.

I think you'll find that anyone who entered 48 alts would only come out around the middle of the league.

Knight Stalker is not top as I have not put the alt v's alt points on the league yet. After a few matches have been played, I'll publish how the league stands at that point.

League Rules:


POINTS:
-------
The league will be based on the following scoring:

3 for a win
1 for a draw
0 for a loss
1 point for beating your opponent by 5 kills or more.



MATCH RULES AND SETTINGS:
-------------------------

-Matches will be played at RATED setting and at Super Heavy Weight level (Level 50) and the official place for the matches is the test server.
Matches therefore be 10 minutes long, with a tactical start.

-Should a player quit then they shall forfit the game and the other player will be awarded 3 points,
plus a bonus point if they have the 5 kills or more than their opponent.

-Should a player be disconnected, then the remaining player will note the time of the diconnection.
When the plays get back on line, the match shall be restarted and normal play shall resume from the previous time noted.
Should this happen again to the same player, they shall forefit the match.

-The use of SMALL insperations ONLY is allowed.


Before each match, players must open a trade window and show the other player all their insperations
This is to ensure that all insperations are small ones.
Each player has the right to request to see this inverntory at any time before the match.
(This is to prevent someone quickly burning a few and getting handed some by a friend).


The use of accolades is allowed.

The use of arena Tempory Power is allowed.

Players will face each other twice, except for those that belong to the same person who will not face each other at all.


FIXTURES:
---------
The offical place for the matches is the test server.
However, if both players agree, the match may take place on their own server.

All results must be sent to me via the private message system on these boards.

The Nights for these matches are as follows:
Monday 8:00pm
Wednesday 8:00pm

However, it is left to the 2 participants to decide when they will get these matches in.
If you bump into each other on a Tuesday, for example, and decide to get one or both of your fights out the way, then go ahead.
So the Monday and Wednesday is just a guide as to when others might be free.
It may be possible to never have to fight on these nights and still get all your matches done.

So basically, get your fights in when you can, and if you wander over to test on these nights, then you might get the matches you are missing.

If you ask someone for you match and they reply that they are busy or logging, then thats fine.
This league is expected to last a while so you are under no pressue to get all your matches done as quickly as possible.

MAKE SURE THE OTHER PERSON KNOWS ITS YOUR LEAGUE MATCH, NOT JUST A PRACTISE MATCH THOUGH.
SHOULD BE OBVIOUS AS YOU NORMALLY DON'T FLASK EACH OTHER YOUR INSPS BEFORE A NORMAL MATCH.


MULTIPLE CHARACTERS:
--------------------
Players may enter as many characters as they wish into this league.
Obviously they will be unable to play each other.
So that these players don't miss out on all the points from these matches,
then these matches will be considered a win for one character for 1 match and a loss for the other match player.
This is to ensure that each character, ends up with half the possible points that they could have won.

All results must be sent to me via a PM eg:

Sweet Chilli 20 - Knight Stalker 5 (at time of second disconnection)
Knight Stalker 2 - Sweet Chill 1

The organisers will keep the league updated and when we only have a few matches left,
the organisers will do a list of remaining fixtures. They will also publish all result periodically.

In the case of disputes, players must try to solve it between themselves.
If it cannot be resolved, The Organisers look at it fairly and try to make a decision.
If a decision cannot be made, then the match will be played again at a specified time
that is convienient for all parties and the organisers will sit in in observer mode.


THE END OF THE LEAGUE:
----------------------
The league ends when all the matches have been played. If someone stops playing or takes too long then
they will forfit all their matches.

The points will be added up and the results published. In the event of a draw, it will go to kills.
If kills are the same, then it will go to deaths. If these are the same then we have 2 winners.


PLAYERS CAUGTH CHEATING:
------------------------
Players caught cheating will have points deducted and may be suspended from the league.
In all cases, all communication with organisers must be via the Private Message system on these boards.
The organisers may change or modify the rules at any time. Such changes will be announced on these boards.
In all cases, the decisions of the organisers will be final.


CONDUCT:
--------
At all times, the standard City of Heroes User Agreement and Rules of Conduct will apply.
The use of voice comms or any other communication in a match is strictly prohibited.

As it currently stands, each character will play 48 matches in total.

Not a great ammount, but are those who entered multiple characters still ok with that?

I would expect each character to play around 6-12 matches per week. At that rate, the league will last 4-8 weeks. But its up to each person to do the matches when they want, but remember to check the TEST server on Mondays and Wednesdays at around 8:00pm BST to get those cross server matches in.
