Thanks a lot Lighthouse ^_^ You guys were killin me, but good to know now. My patience bar has officially been refilled.

    [/ QUOTE ]

May bar is running back down. Time to pop another inspiration? I'm dying to see all the cool costumes!
  2. Hooray!!!

(and first after a red name!)
  3. Maybe they were so good that all 10 are getting the grand prize and there's no need for a community vote!?
  4. I can't wait to see the finalists! Today is the day, right?
  5. [ QUOTE ]
Does this mean that since cryptic has an office in Texas and they will no longer be part of the project that the tax will no longer be applied to Texas Residents

    [/ QUOTE ]

Similarly, does this also mean that maintenance windows will now be 8-10 PST rather than 8-10 CST? I would dare say that'll impact the player base a little more.

If so, standard maintenance windows become:
    EST 11am-1pm
    CST 10am-12noon
    MST 9-11am
    PST 8-10am

Lets get some discussion going on in here.

I am really looking to leverage some community ideas, so lets get some PVP Community focus going and see what as a community will be your prioritized list.

    For me:

PVE & PVP build that I can toggle.
Using the kiosks in game for PVP status.
More built in, in game rewards for PVP content.

Oh and an automatic "I win" button because I don't foresee that ever happening, remembers back to one of the PVPEC events where the whole team I was grouped with was there just to make sure I didn't die a hundred times.

    Ex

    [/ QUOTE ]

How about taking the PvE & PvP toggle one step further and allow each costume slot to be respec'd independently complete with powers and slotting. Primaries and secondaries remain fixed. This benefits the non-PvPers in that they can have specific builds to counter psi foes, debuffers, etc if they choose to spend the time, effort, and inf to do so. Especially now that respecs are unlimited.
  7. Plus the 5th column have the giant Mech men right?

Rearrange the letters in Ouroboros and what do you get...?

    O, u r so robo!

I rest my case. Inanely, but I rest it nonetheless.
  8. The snake on fire symbolizes death.
The snake is also eating its own rear end and anything coming out of it.
To me this indicates the title for I11 will be...

Issue 11: Eat S*** and Die!

  9. Ah how I miss the good ol' days of herding an entire map...

These days, I find the team gets bored too quickly with herding unless the mobs are truly out of their comfortable arresting level. When they get bored, they either get sloppy with LOS or trigger happy and you end up having the herd shot at or aoe'd before they stack.

These days, with the aggro limit, I find it more effective to target a near side mob, position myself to the opposite side of the spawn (away from your target and your team), and taunt. This both redirects the spawn's attention and pulls them away from the team. Depending on the spawn and your other taunt aura(s), you can repeat this on two nearby spawns and pull the whole group to you without endangering your team.

I would agree with this. At some point, people are just not going to come back. Their names should be freed up eventually. While a poster above said 15 months should be the cutoff for your name going back to the pool regardless of level, I think that is a bit too soon. I would support sometime over 2 years inactive losing you the right to squat on your level 50's name, and possibly even their space in the database. It may sound harsh, but how many really come back after a 2 year hiatus?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I agree except that I think level 50's names should be forever locked for posterity and not recycled. 49 and lower should be fair game after 2 years inactivity.
  11. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
Admittedly, if I was picking a number out of my butt, I would have gone with level 20. High enough to encompass some real mass of characters, low enough to be a reasonably easy hurdle to get to.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I also agree with 20. I think that's around when the emotional attachment starts to kick in.

So does this mean I get to sign LadyK's butt?

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think it should be lvl 20, but with a 180 day inactivity period.
And I should get to sign LadyK's butt too.
  12. I agree that the Father's Day timing of the event definitely limited my time on. It could have been worse though -- the event might have been scheduled on Mother's Day! My suggestion for future events -- long holiday weekends that don't typically involve getting the family together. Memorial Day, July 4 weekend, Labor Day, Veterans Day weekend, etc all come to mind.

Regardless of the timing, I did get some time to play and found it to be fun. More lag than usual in PI, and on more than one occasion I got the DB Server disconnect trying to log into Freedom which seemed to be the most heavily played server. It was nice to see so many people on. Teaming was easy.

Any thought given to the idea that people hit these events so hard because xp grinds too slowly in the regular game? Would more people play and play consistently if xp gain was raised say 50% permanently? I know it's a business decision and a balance between people leveling too quickly, running out of content, and leaving the game vs seeing more character progress and skill development, but I can't help but think leveling a little faster under normal conditions might be a good thing for customer satisfaction.
  13. The trick is going to be getting the max bonus at or near level 32 when you pick up Granite Armor. Otherwise this build is only good for a 50 respec.

I think if you switch the slotting on Barrage and Energy Transfer, and take Vengeance at 30, Energy Punch at 44 and Fire Blast at 49, you end up with 145.1% at level 32 single slotting Granite with GoA. Then it goes up to 150.1 at level 33 when you slot Aegis.

    Still respectable.

Here's the run speed increments from level 32 on:

    lvl 32 - 145.1
    lvl 33 - 150.1
    lvl 37 - 153.1
    lvl 40 - 156.1
    lvl 42 - 161.1
    lvl 43 - 164.1
    lvl 46 - 168.1
    lvl 48 - 170.1
    lvl 50 - 173.1

  14. How about this for a Stone/EM build?

    Bonuses come in at:

(5*7.5%) +(5*5%)+(5*4%)+(5*3%)+(3*2%) for a total of 103.5% Run Speed from IO sets + 69.6% from Swift.
This should result in a grand total of 173.1% run speed and negate the effects of rooted and granite armor.

Plus you get to keep taunt and get fly for a travel power.
It relies on the leadership pool but I think the set bonuses stay in effect even if the toggle isn't running so they are all minimally slotted for only the set bonus effect. You gain a little this way in that you get two set effects for the one vengeance power. Same with Char from the Pyre EPP -- two set bonuses for the price of one power slot.

  15. Nice work Grudge!

I tried plugging your build into Mid's to verify the % increase and get a fps run speed, and I have a couple of issues/questions regarding your build.

    (1) Under Gift of the Ancients you list:
Grudge’s Powers: Rock Armor, Crystal Armor, Mineral Armor, Granite Armor, Weave
but Crystal isn't a pick under your build at the bottom and won't fit based on your other picks. I'm guessing it would be better to drop something else and include Crystal since its increase is one of the bigger 7.5% ones.

    (1) Mid's lists Stalagmites as a ranged AoE rather than just ranged attack -- it won't let you slot Maelstrom. Is this a Mid's bug or have you been able to slot Maelstrom in Stalagmites?

Man I want to see a build like this work!
    -Cheers!
  16. Yeah, I didn't get my lvl 30 Celerity +Stealth recipe. I'm bummed.
  17. IMHO that's what makes this game great. You can pronounce Talos any darn way you like, and it won't break the game!

Me personally, I go with the pig latin pronunciation Ay-los-Tay.

Look! See? CoX is still running strong!

kudos on the interview! You didn't even say 'git-r-done' once!

I only have one question -- if you could rename CoH characters, would you consider the use of lowercase letters?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Honestly, when this game dies someday, I can take knight for my own simply by name.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Bull poop! If you stop being NIGHTOFIRONSTAR I'll kick your [censored]. I refuse to let them give you a name change.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Frankly I was a little disappointed that he didn't stick with the long string of all caps theme on his subsequent characters. I could see him with the following:

    A Kheld Peacebringer named 'NIGHTOFPRAWNSTAR'
A hot nekkid toon named 'NIGHTOFPORNSTAR'
A tanker with a football helmet named 'NIGHTOFBARTSTARR'
An elec/elec blaster with the circuitry outfit named 'NIGHTOFTRONSTAR'

    ...the possibilities are endless!

  21. Nice guide! I've renewed my interest in my lvl 26 Dark/Elec 'Lil Sithster' after seeing this.

Local_Man - I too am a fan of SF+SS (I have it on a D3 and stealth+SS on another alt). What did you take for vertical movement? Is hurdle enough? Good to hear the feedback on Short Circuit -- I was planning to slot it up to get more end drain. Sounds like it's not worth it in your opinion. That would save me a power and six slots!

Honestly I'd like to see Group Fly dropped and replaced with something like Sub-Sonic Flight...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Personally, I would just like to see Group Fly changed so that each player has the ability to opt out of the effect like refusing a teleport. I was on a PuG with someone who insisted using group fly. Really made tanking with my fire/ice tanker a bear. Couldn't lay ice or burn patches. Grrrrr.

Best bet is Gauntlet now has a fear effect added to it......

Course I'm a tad cynical these days

    [/ QUOTE ]

Or a variation... Now that Gauntlet has a ToHit roll, it's allowing the 'I'm low on health and must flee' mob AI to kick in when there actually is a miss.
  24. Awww come on and admit it! You want a hero pet that's a cute little mini-States.

Will we be able to make these vet-pets talk and emote?
/e cower + /petsay "not in the face!"

Is this how the game breaks down in terms of development categories?

That would explain quite a bit.

Think this is how they figure out how to divide up the Christmas bonus money amongst the dev teams?
