I enjoy farming with my SS/SD/Elec brute. Does quite nicely on the Liberate TV map at +0/8-man/no-boss/no-AV setting. Even without purples or Luck of the Gambler +recharge IOs.

I also have a SS/FA/Elec brute, but I find the SD to be more fun personally.

You might look at the ATI 4770. I replaced a dying 8800GT with one and am quite happy with it. It's relatively inexpensive ($100), has lower power requirements than most cards, and it runs cool. The XFX version of this is especially nice since the GPU cooler vents to the rear out a pci slot vent instead of intside the case.

Some attacks appear to be immune to the -dmg penalty. Specifically the vet powers -- sands of mu, ghost axe, blackwand and nem staff. So you're not completely useless waiting for your damage to return. Just mostly so.

I had my 8800GT die recently and ended up trying ATI again. I went with the HD4770 and for about $100 it's very nice. The only thing I don't like is that I seem to have to turn FSAA on in game each time I log in to get rid of the super reflective water effects.

Aren't those talking about them pulling out of the computer chipset battle, not GPUs?

So no nvidia-based motherboards, but we'll still get graphics cards.

I'm having a perception issue in line with earlier comments about drops being 'streaky'. I've been running and re-running the Liberate the TV mission on my lvl 50 brute +0/8 since I16 hit.

It's odd -- some runs I'll get 16-17 common IOs and only 3-4 set/rares. Other runs I'll get 10-12 set IOs. But the streak feels like it is by mission instance. It almost feels like RNG rolls for drop chances are set once when the mission is instanced and then reapplied at the same rate as the mission instance is run. I've even left the mission halfway through, sold off the common IOs and returned to the same instanced mission and it feels like the ratio of common/set/rare stays roughly the same.

Interestingly enough, when I had a Hecatomb damage purple drop early on in a run I left the mission and cleared out my recipe inventory before continuing the mission. I then got a Contagious Confusion purple drop in that same mission instance. Probably just coincidence, but it sure has my perception issue senses tingling.

Does your CoH account and password happen to match your Windows logon? Maybe it's pulling cached credentials.
