I will definitely take full advantage of this. CJ is a throwaway power for me, since I can't afford IO's. It will let me take one extra power by sirens level, which will be very nice.

lol

What part of that is funny? Not being able to afford IO's? -
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I haven't been very impressed with the WP stalkers I've seen.
[/ QUOTE ]
You probably haven't seen any good ones. Which is reasonable, considering how popular nin is nowadays, and how popular regen has been always. There just aren't that many WP stalkers around.
I remember Zero (pretty sure he was unanimously considered the #1 stalker in the game right before he quit...Teknix or something was the name) played a WP stalker, and he was just as unkillable as any regen or Nin. -
Well I meant the serious PvP playerbase. Mostly the competitive team arena players.
When I13 hit, there was actually a thread made where people posted they were quitting. It was done to show the devs that they were about to lose a lot of customers. The total number of accounts lost went to several hundred in like 2 days. Remember, the whole hardcore PvP community was only a couple hundred people...but almost all of them had at LEAST 2 accounts. Some had up to 4 or 5.
Then the thread was completely removed from the forums, and the devs pretended that it never even existed. In fact, they made sure to make a public statement that their account signups actually went UP during those 2 days. Total bs obviously...but PR is PR.
Anyway, you can ask around. 90% is a number I can be pretty confident about. Granted some of those probably did come back, but who knows.
The point wasn't really about the numbers either. Sure, it was only a few hundred accounts, but these were some of the most experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated players in the whole game. Being hardcore, they had the most actual knowledge of the game. The best chance of being able to help the devs improve their product.
Instead, everything they advised was ignored, and instead of trying to keep their business, the devs chose to spit in their face. -
Pretty sure both side's heavies have some sort of very long lasting mez. Plus all the boss NPC's in the zone do too.
The lame thing is that it doesn't matter. For several months now, the devs have made it plainly clear that all NPC's are working as intended. They have no problems with NPC's being able to mez for 1 minute+, while players can do it for 2 seconds. Why? Because they have never actually PvP'd a single time.
Basically, don't expect anything to change. -

Congrats. You have figured out one of the 100 reasons why 90% of the PvP playerbase quit the game when I13 came out
-
Ok thanks fallen. Looks like my friends were talking out of their [censored] :P
I think the fact that mids has shown them to be like twice as strong as they actually are has fed into the confusion. -
wtf, not a single person in the game has used power pool attacks?
-
Rewards don't promote ganking. It's just part of the game.
-
Question for those that have tested it...
Were power pool attacks nerfed at all in I14? I heard from some friends that they were nerfed and aren't anywhere as good as they were in I13. This is regarding the stupidly "broken" powers like flurry, jump kick, etc.
I haven't gotten a chance to test it myself. Is it just a rumor, or are they really weaker than in I13? -
[ QUOTE ]
My playstyle, subconciously, is to come in, hit so hard they are panicking, and use that instant to unleash the rest of my attacks to finish them off, is there a build that has that particular mentality in mind?
[/ QUOTE ]
A sonic blaster, probably. On vil side, probably a night widow. -
Resist Physical Damage: pretty much useless
Resist Elements, Resist Energies: One of these gives slow resistance, which is good. The other one gives end drain resist, which isn't really that noticeable. I forget which is which.
tough hide: Pretty much useless. Defense is only good when you have a lot of it, and an Inv tank doesn't.
invincibility: completely useless. PvP isn't about standing in a group of 15 NPC's.
Also, are any of the epic power pools good for pvp?
Yes. Energy, fire, and stone are considered the best, from what I remember. Things change pretty quickly though, since the devs redesign the game on random whims anytime they choose. -

Playing for hours, days, weeks, months or even years with one ruleset then stepping into a zone and have the most basic elements about your character be completely different just doesn't seem like a good idea to me, especially after 4 years.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wow, it appears you have common sense.
Unfortunately, the developers don't share that with you. -
LF isn't gonna help you with any half competent stalker. Just move around...problem solved.
-

Well, my exerience showed me that they weren't.
[/ QUOTE ]
Your "experience" of coming to sirens ONE time. Got it. Yes, sounds like you have truly grasped what PvP is all about and have a profound understanding of it. -
Hehe yeah....my storm/psy might actually get played ONCE. Haven't played him literally a single time since I13 came out
-

I can grief heroes with my Emp/Dark, I just scuttle around dropping heals on Regen Scrappers and watch their heal% cleave in half.
[/ QUOTE ]
You do realize that external heals don't affect melee class self heals, right? -
I was mostly thinking about my Ill/FF troller. Can't NOT take PFF
And I got tp droned recently while in PFF, which made me so mad rite nao. -
Pretty sure that's what he meant. He just made the toons cuz they were great...and now they're gonna be bad. Hence the waste of time.
The problem is that we never know what will happen next. When a dev team is truly clueless, there's no way to predict anything at all. For all we know, WP could be nerfed tomorrow. -
As it is currently, I would rate PvP in this game a 2.
Yes, it's that bad. Well, at least for any new person trying to get into it. They made it so insanely complex, that nobody new to the game has ANY chance of understanding what the hell is going on.
Before I13, that is before they flat out destroyed the game, I would have rated PvP a 6 or 7. It was very far from perfect, with many game-breaking bugs, but at least things made sense. Certain builds had certain roles. And it was the ONLY game on the market that offered really high pace PvP in a MMO.
Unfortunately, the devs decided to ruin that. And what's worse, it's become very apparent that they don't regret it and will never go back. -

It's fixed on test for EA and Elec. Too bad they gutted EA (nerfed Defense) and Elec is lol. But yea...they finally fixed it.
[/ QUOTE ]
Really? What about PFF? It's supposed to give tp protection too, but that was also broken. Anybody test that on test? -
TP protection has been broken since I13 came out. It doesn't actually seem to do anything.
Some people have claimed that you just need twice as much as before. Haven't tested it personally, but basically as an EA, you will have to pop oranges to prevent TP. But supposedly it'll be less oranges than a non-EA.
Bug? Intended? Does it really matter? The whole game is one big bug. -
[ QUOTE ]
Do you think its worth using 2 slots for that? as a spines/regen or not (mostly zone pvp).
[/ QUOTE ]
I do. Considering every single tank/brute is now SS, unless you want to be knocked down every 10 seconds, you do want KB protection. And integration essentially doesn't provide it. -
[ QUOTE ]
click mez protection has always been superior to toggles.
[/ QUOTE ]
It used to be some people's opinion. And it was arguable. If you died right after your click went off, you'd be without any mez protection for like 2 mins.
But now, it's not arguable. The opinion has actually become a hard fact. And not due to some specific design idea...simply as a byproduct of one of the changes.
Of course the problem is solved really easily (all you need is TWO -kb IO's), so probably nobody's bothered to bug it. I know I didn't. So for all we know, the devs most likely don't even have any idea that the problem exists.
