Covers the dead bodies.

haha nice.
hey flea -
Organized SG's on test server have basically unlimited amounts of any enhancement they want, so they can slot any toon any way they want for maximum effectiveness.
-
All nukes suck now.
But a good player can make any blaster build work. Of course it won't be as good as sonic/EM, but that's just how it is. -
Of course there's bitterness. The game was basically destroyed to appeal to those non-PvP'ers. To get them into PvP. Well, that completely failed, and all that was accomplished was that lots of old PvP'ers quit.
And even after all that, the devs refuse to admit they made a mistake. So yeah, we're mad at them, and at the non-PvP'ers, who were kind of responsible for this. Not directly, mind you. They never asked for this crap. They simply didn't want to PvP. But indirectly, just by not wanting to PvP, they gave the devs the brilliant idea of I13.
All the complaining you see isn't technically even about the game. It's about the completely incompetent design team. -

Should that ever run out, just patrol Warburg again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Additional note: you can only get it 3 times. -
What I find funny is when I attack someone running through a zone 1v1, kill them, and then they angrily challenge me to a duel. It's like dude, wtf do you think just happened? When one person kills one other person, isn't that a duel?
-
[ QUOTE ]
You sir don't get out much if you think that. I task you come to freedom and duel guyver, this dude has a em/reg stalker and will wreck you in a duel. I'm working on a new dueling stalker myself, but i have sat and watch him call out scrappers and tanks and beat on them for hours he rarely loses.
[/ QUOTE ]
First of all, I'm pretty sure he didn't mean zone fight clubzors, since that is a pretty laughlable version of PvP in this game.
Second, I have to agree with con. There is no way in hell that any single stalker can kill either my regen scrapper or my fire tank. I just wouldn't let that happen. Sure, if I just stand there in 1 spot like an idiot (err...I mean like 99% of fight clubbers), there's a chance that he could pull off an AS + something and catch me at a bad time. But I don't just stand there, and neither would any good player. And against a moving tank/scrapper, no stalker is going to have a chance.
The rule is, if they can't AS you, they can't kill you. -
[ QUOTE ]
i beg to differ. My fire/fire does a pretyty good job, and when his build gets done it will be almost unstopable.
[/ QUOTE ]
I understand you have a connection with your toon, but you're being silly here.
Brute and scrapper fire is actually very good, because they get 1 extra really good attack. With tanker /fire, you basically have GFS and incinerate, and that's it. That means you're worthless anywhere except high level PvP. A /fire tank in sirens call is truly laughable. How are you going to kill people? Fire sword and fire breath? Compare that to SS, which can dominate in any zone.
Also, /fire has another HUGE weakness. Right now about 90% of tankers and brutes are fire armor. Maybe more. Against all of them, your fire damage will do NOTHING. I love when I run into a fire/fire brute on my fire/ss tank. It means a 100% chance of victory for me. Doesn't matter how good the other player is. He has no possible way of killing me. -
[ QUOTE ]
And is there room for a tanker in PVP?
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, but you need the right build, and fire/fire is not. The primary is perfect, but the secondary is bad. It's an AoE-based secondary, and that doesn't work well in PvP.
Fire/SS is currently the undisputed best. -
Yep, I had the same deal with my DM/SR scrapper. 9 out of 10 shots would land. So I made him into a pure PvE toon. No point in playing a melee toon with literally no secondary.

Cant people ACTUALLY put the drama on the shelf for one thread and talk about how the high end PvP has evolved.
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL, yeah right! -
[ QUOTE ]
Thanks beef_cake for your input, so how is res now? (ie Energy aura)
Thanks Wicked.
[/ QUOTE ]
Res is better than defense, but by itself, it's still bad. What you really need is a resistance set with a heal. This is why fire armor is by far the best right now. It combines res with a really good heal.
Sets like elec armor or dark armor (you mentioned energy aura, but that is a defense set) are pretty bad, because res by itself doesn't do much. -
[ QUOTE ]
I noticed that there are quite a few powers like that.
[/ QUOTE ]
Same here. There's a general rule that activation time = damage, but there are a few powers that go completely against that rule, for no logical reason. I think people have just learned to deal with the bs, and not ask why. Nothing really makes any sense in the first place. -
[ QUOTE ]
Wait what? Was this with OS or another SG?
What happened if you don't mind sharing?
[/ QUOTE ]
Jimmay hasn't told me about this, so I assume it wasn't OS. I'd like to know too. Sounds like a good story -
[ QUOTE ]
you "quit" because i took your spot. OMG INTERNET ADULT WHATS UP
[/ QUOTE ]
You're welcome to keep believing that, if it helps you sleep at night. I think the fact that I haven't done it a single time since then, with JAL or any other SG, shows otherwise. Anyway, I'm done arguing with you. You always were ridiculously cocky and ignorant....I'm not gonna somehow change that now by using logic. -
Hehe mage...then again, almost every SG in this game turned into a drama fest at least at some point in its existence. Guess that's just part of the CoH style
But whatever....even with all that drama and hate, the game was 50 times better than it is now -
[ QUOTE ]
EEEEEK someone is mad i took their starting spot after being in the sg for like 3 weeks
[/ QUOTE ]
LOL I knew with 100% certainty that you'd reply with something like that. But 12 year olds are predictable like that. Oh sorry...are you like 14 now? My bad.
I gotta admit, it's funny that you think you "took" the spot of someone that quit the team. Somehow that doesn't sound too difficult.
Anyway, this isn't about you and me. It's about JAL. -
Ahh memories.
I'll throw out a short JAL history too.
JAL was probably the longest-standing PvP SG in the history of the game. They dated back almost as far as Tribute, but they were still around many years after Tribute had disappeared.
It started as a pure PvE SG, before PvP was ever in the game. When PvP became possible, a few people in the SG, led my Psypunk, decided to get into PvP. So unlike the vast majority of PvP SG's, JAL actually changed into one....they didn't start out as one.
Anyway, it took them a very long time to get good. Mainly because they had a very different attitude than other SG's. The attitude was "if you're cool, you can join, and we'll try to teach you", while everybody else's was "If you're not a really good PvP'er, you're not playing for us".
But eventually JAL got to be a respected team. It still got a lot of bad rep because most of the community seemed to hate Psypunk. But the SG was at a point where it could completely dominate any team in the game....except the 2 or 3 top teams. Those were still on a different level. This is the time when I actively played for JAL, as the #1 blaster. This was when Lions Den, FoL, and HVND were the top 3 SG's. I think Velocity was formed right around that time too, and it became really good right off the bat.
Anyway, shortly after that, I saw where this game was going and just got fed up with it. I was putting in hours of my personal time each week to practice....for a game which the developers clearly showed was NOT designed for competition. It stopped being worth it to me, mainly because I realized this game had ZERO future (clearly I was right, btw). At that same time, a bunch of new people joined JAL, including Alarys and her friends, Sorrows and his BFF (forget the name), etc. Immediately the SG attitude began to change, and I was glad I had quit.
Basically JAL became like every other PvP SG. If you were a good PvP'er, you could play. Didn't matter what kind of person you were. To put it bluntly, winning at all costs was put ahead of everything else. So very quickly, JAL had a completely new lineup. The guys that had been playing for years were basically told "you don't get to play anymore". A lot of drama happened, a lot of people got pissed off, and the SG basically became a brand new SG. It was actually kind of strange...they should have probably just made an actual new SG, instead of going with the JAL name. But like ONE person remained from the old JAL team (hellter skellter...I forget his toon name, but he was arguably the best sonic in the game at the time), so whatever.
Anyway, with that lineup, JAL actually became the #1 test team in the game for a few months. Then a bunch more drama happened. The new JAL members, while being superior PvP'ers compared to the old, were definitely total drama queens. Sorrows alone quit and rejoined like 2 or 3 times. Anyway, more drama happened, and the SG decided to just pack it up and move to WoW. Which they did, and surprisingly, none of them ever came back, to even check what's happening. Unlike most CoH players, it seems they were truly able to put CoH completely behind them.
Wow...guess that didn't end up being that short. -
Oh and also...
SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!! -
Well damn....that's good to know. Thanks guys.
Guess I have to reslot some stuff. -
[ QUOTE ]
good in 1v1s? lol
[/ QUOTE ]
I meant compared to zones. It's a lot harder to play one in zones, since absolutely anybody can knock off your toggles at any time. It's not just 1 person you've gotta be worried about.
But still, I do fine on mine. Yeah, they're weaker than before, but most things don't feel as powerful as before I13. But at least the difference between I13 and I14 is night and day. I didn't touch my stormy once in I13, and since I14, I actually play him fairly regularly. -
Why are you specifically asking about those builds? Are they toons you already have?
All 3 should be good. But you're right, any or all of them could be nerfed to uselessness at any time, with or without any logic behind the nerf. Usually without. -
Well wow. That goes 100% against what I've believed and been told by ALL my friends....ever since IO's came out.
-
They're good in 1v1's. Once you've hit someone with a -tohit debuff, it's hard for them to mez you, since they can't hit you. This started happening only in I14. In I13, debuffs were a complete joke and basically did nothing. That's where the whole "offensive toggles suck" thing started. Now it's still a problem, but not nearly as much, because the debuffs actually do something.
-
If not spines, I'd probably make fire or broadsword.
