Doms' TF is supposed to last long because it's doms. But the archery thing does seem to be broken.
-
I think all fear has been broken forever. Even before I13, when you got feared, it was completely random what happened. Sometimes you were only feared for a second....sometimes for like 15 seconds. It was supposed to be ended by getting attacked, but that was random. Many times I got feared and was stuck there, watching people hit me with like 10 attacks, while I still couldn't move.
And apparently I13 didn't make it better. It's still pretty random. Sometimes it works like it's supposed to, sometimes you stay feared when you shouldn't. Basically just another bug that people exploit, because there's no reason not to when you play a completely broken game anyway. -

Yes, it's nice to have the experience of both. And I think that most guys mentioned here have done both extensively, at least at some point.
-
hahahahaha bb, this actually made me lol. Literally.
I agree with anti though, this should definitely apply to brutes and stalkers too. But in the case of stalkers, it should only apply when they use shark. If they use AS within 1 minute of using shark, they get their chat privileges back. That way, the non-baddos will still be able to talk, like mac suggested. -
lol hyper, I hadn't realized this was you. Or maybe I knew at some point but forgot. Well, no wonder you always sounded like you knew what you were talking about on the forums. Cuz you actually do! haha
As far as the OP, it's kind of easy to answer at this point, with everybody gone. Which is why most of the posts mention the same guys. Conflict, mac, hyper, eps, and jimmay are the ones that come to mind for me. Problem is that hyper is the only one I run into regularly. Wish you ***** teamed with me moar.
Edit: Oh I totally forgot barrier still plays....add him to my list. -
Thanks for mentioning me guys
Smeg, what are some toons of yours that I'd recognize? I can't seem to remember what you play. -
Quote:Funny story here.Nothing like arguing with a melee tard who challenged you to a duel for 2 hours about what settings people use when they go to the arena.
Probably a couple weeks ago I'm in sirens on my fire tank, and some baddo stalker says something, to which I reply that there's no way he could kill me 1v1....which is pretty obvious. Stalker vs tank = lol. He replies that he definitely can....but on his scrapper. Since I'd have to be retarded to die on a tank vs a solo scrapper, I realize that doesn't make much difference, and tell him that.
Immediatelly he challenges me to an arena duel. I ask him whether he honestly thinks that he has any chance of killing a tank if the tank's only goal is to survive. He says yes. I laugh. Even though I never arena anymore, I decide to show him what a fool he is, so I join his event, and immediately he starts it. Never had a chance to check out the settings.
So the match starts...of course in the monkey cage lol. But whatever. Even in the cage, there's no possible way that a scrapper will kill a fire tank, if the tank decides not to die. At some point through the countdown, I realize that I can't activate my travel powers. But I figure it must be some new feature, when you can't turn on travels until the match actually starts. Yeah, I haven't done arena since Lions Den was the #1 SG lol.
Anyway, match starts, and as you probably already guessed, I still can't activate travel powers. It's so retarded that it doesn't even hit me what's going on. I say "hey wait something is wrong". He ignores me and starts attacking. I say "wtf is going on I can't use my travels". He ignores me and keeps attacking, desperatly hoping to get a typing kill.
Of course he fails, and that's when I realize what's happening. The baddo actually disabled travel powers....and inspirations too. He keeps trying to kill me while I'm typing some more. I phase so I can type in peace. He starts making fun of me for phasing. I realize that this must be one of the worst players on the server, and I bid him farewell.
Sigh...even in the arena, these people try to do pure fight club crap.
Good **** huh -
The only parts that have even a slight chance here are the obvious bugs, like the placate proc, ML and FE causing suppression, TK repelling, etc. These things have a very slight chance of being fixed sometime in the next 2-3 years. Then again, the placate bug has existed for about 3 years, so maybe my timeframe gives the devs too much credit.
Further down the post, you start getting into non-bugs, but just things the PvP community would like. I'll go out on a limb here and say that they have zero chance of ever happening. Sorry. -
I recently got attacked by a fire/fire scrapper I think...and he had fire mastery. With firey embrace and BU, blast and char actually hit for quite a lot, and blast recharges really fast, so a scrapper can essentially spam it just like a blaster.
But yes, weapons is still better. -
No, nothing will kb a melee powerset with kb protection. This is how it was supposed to be, and how it was until things got broken in I13.
The one exception I've personally found is Widow/Fort kb protection. It is bugged, and doesn't actually work. But nobody plays them anymore, so nobody cares. -
Moving is part of the game. If jumping 10 feet away gives you the extra 2 seconds you need for your heal to recharge, you should do it. Unless you're a bad player that makes up random arbitrary rules about what in the game is acceptable and what isn't. In that case, I guess you can just keep on losing.

Actually regens have less resists than squishies, so they tend to take more damage from sharks than anybody else in the game. But they also have more HP, so it's not that bad for them.
As far as OP, MA/regen is definitely a great beginner build. -
Psy - Safest and therefore easiest to play, because of the broken placate proc. Also the fastest burst damage, since most of the attacks land roughly at the same time.
Fire - Several advantages. Fastest damage over time when procced. Only 2 total attacks needed, so that leaves room for more powers/slots. And it can put out the most damage while mezzed.
Sonic - Most damage over time. Can do pretty crazy burst hits after the target has some -res stacked.
Overall the 3 are about even. Different top blasters in the game have different opinions on what's the best, so that should say something. -
What about recovery aura? Do you really need that? Perhaps you can just carry a few more blues, since it's really situational anyway. Guess it's situational recovery vs situational regin. Tough choice.
-
Not gonna bother commenting on the bonuses, since you know that's not my specialty...but I'll say that if you want to go with primal, you'll definitely want regen aura. Find some way to take it, since without hibernoob, it will be one of your 2 main ways to stay alive (other being phase). Especially when you use absorb pain. If phase isn't up, it's almost a guaranteed death, unless playing vs baddos. With RA, you can actually take some damage and be back to full pretty quickly.
I haven't played my Ill/emp in a while, but last time I did, I had a phase+primal build. And I definitely counted on RA a lot for survival. Then again, with just SO's my play experience is a bit skewed. -
No, that would be a first person shooter. A mmorpg is based on loot, game knowledge, and luck. In that order. Game knowledge usually is #1, and it was for CoH, but that was changed in I13.
As far as your OP, claws is a complete joke. And BS is better than katana. But fire is at least as good as those, so you should just stick with fire.
And conflict, I'd love to know who that pro player is lol. Sounds really pro.
Lastly, I agree that regin can't be bet. I've been saying this for like 4 years in the zones on a regular basis, and in these FOUR YEARS, I think there was like ONE total time when someone in the zones actually recognized the phrase lol. Every single other time (and it has to be many hundreds of times), people chime in with something like "no way! regen can totally be beaten by so and so".
Sigh... -
If you don't want to do /wp or /fire, /invuln with a huge investment is probably your best bet. You'll want to get as much HP as possible, to try to be like a tank. When unstoppable isn't up, Inv is basically just a big bag of HP. There's no defense, and basically no resistance to anything except smashing/lethal. So you want the bag of HP to be big.
That said, I can't even remember the last time I saw an /inv scrapper. Tankers yeah, but not scrappers. -
I play like 10 different ones. Blasta I guess is my main.
-
The ONLY reason to do anything except regen is if you already have regen toons are are bored of it. It is twice as good as anything else at this point.
-
Just like the vast majority of the PvP2.0 changes, this was a complete and utter failure. Sure, the bonuses themselves are smaller, but with almost all skill removed from the game, it's become totally about the bonuses, so people without any at all are screwed more than ever before.
-
No need to reroll the primary...archery is actually really underestimated. /MM is ok too, with the fear power. It's no boost range, but I've seen one guy on freedom do well with it.
The main thing is definitely to just practice. And use inspirations.
