Those bars represent server load, not server population. Weaker servers have a higher load because they're weaker. Freedom was upgraded, like already mentioned above.

This storm guy seems to be in direct competition with Dahjee in the "Who can post the most wrong info on forums" contest.
All I can say is good luck. You'll need it. -

WP is just not a very good set for PvP, exactly because it doesn't have a heal. Not much you can do other than reroll.
Rad/MM is playable, but nowhere near top tier. Psy/EM is by far #1 currently. -
Cold > force, by quite a lot now.

Quote:Yep, they completely redesigned the game to the point where it's practically a totally separate game, but gave ZERO explanation of anything to the players.
As user experiences go, this is pretty much a complete dev fail.
We had to figure everything out ourselves, which was ok because we were already experts on the game. But new players are completely lost in PvP.
The problem is that the devs simply don't know anything about PvP. Definitely not enough to write ANY kind of tutorial. Their advice would very likely be even worse than Dahjee's. And they would rather see the company go out of business than listen to actual PvP'ers to get advice on writing such a tutorial. Hence, it will never happen. -
wb Rikti, I remember you. You definitely have more possibilities with vils. On heroes, psy/em is the only one to bother with. The others aren't gonna be that good.
But on vils, every single one of those is great. The elec/WP is pretty much the best stalker build currently, elec/therm is about as FotM as it gets for dueling, sonic/pain is a great team toon, earth/nrg is great, mind/fire is great, and the MM is great for duels.
Don't even know which I would pick if I could only pick one of those. Probably the stalker, since zone PvP is now basically just scrappers/tanks vs stalkers....except rare times when good players show up and it becomes blasters vs stalkers and a few corrs. -
Fire for tanks is awesome, especially with phase. For scrappers it's #2 behind regin....but quite a lot behind.
With phase you can still be very survivable though. Just not invincible like with regin. -
Virtus is probably the least bad of the other servers. You have at least a slight chance of running into other players in a PvP zone. It's an ok place to start, but you'll definitely want to move to Freedom if you start liking the PvP. Freedom vs other servers is kind of like the NBA vs random high school basketball teams.

It wasn't DR, it was a direct nerf to VEAT's. Their damage was nerfed to pretty much a joke. All they're really good for in a team setting is spamming attacks at stalkers just to keep them out of hide. In zones, they can still be fun, but it's basically just to web people and then use shatter armor on them.

dodgy, it's so obvious that you're just arguing for the sake of arguing, i'm not gonna waste my time anymore. Keep digging your hole.

I have to mention that a guy I knew had a FF/sonic, which he did really well on. Annoyed me to the point that I had to ask him for a truce lol. Seriously, stay away from DP. Sonic is definitely the best set imo. You get both aim, and some -res. By the time someone's getting up from force bolt, you can hit them with screech and get 2-3 more seconds of spike time, and each attack adds up. And PFF does work fairly well. Definitely not a phase, but it will save you against at least half the people in the zones, which isn't bad at all. Combine that with phase, and you would be pretty unkillable.

Quote:I did make that analogy, so I will expand it to make things clearer. Zone is not like a highway. The goal of zone PvP is still to kill other players, while trying to survive yourself. Hopefully you at least can't deny that. So moving on, arena is like NASCAR, the official racing sport that gets shown on ESPN and talked about. Zone is still racing, but just not totally official...basically some amateurs racing on the streets. It does require slightly different skills, and the amateurs definitely aren't all bad, but there's no doubt that racing a car in nascar takes more skill.I'm not sure if it was your analogy or not, but someone once pointed out to me that no matter what I did to optimize a Yugo... it wouldn't win in a Formula 1 race... or something along those lines. Well very much of my point is that the only Race race is in arena where there i s winner, while Zone PvP is basically a public drive or highway. You can surely put a racecar on the highway and speed superfast everywhere you go... but it's not a race, and the Yugos you past will get to the same destination.
The point is, it's still a race. Your analogy doesn't take that into account. People don't just come to a PvP zone to walk around and get from point A to point B. They go there to PvP, which means killing others while not being killed yourself.
With the amateur race, sure, there is no official score, but when one person keeps losing to everybody, people will start thinking he's bad. Even if he keeps saying that he's really really good. It's still a competition. Just like zone PvP. -
What you guys fail to realize is that he does know that I13 caused less viable combos. The problem is that he believes that it was caused directly by us, the players, not by the actual I13 changes. He seems to think that if we only said that "AR/dark is awesome in PvP", that will make it good in PvP, and everybody will have success in it.
That's what I've gathered from his posts. Powersets are only weak because we say they're weak, not because of the actual programming behind them.
Yes, it's hard to imagine someone more delusional than that. -
Quote:Do you take classes to be this stupid? Because I don't see how it's possible by nature."The best is the best for a reason" you say... and go on to assume this is the goal of everyone who PvPs when its not that srs for all. Any Blaster set/set can hop around getting kills and drops and not dying in a zone and for some believe it or not.... this is perfectly acceptable.
When someone asks for the "best blaster", the question is pretty simple. There is a clear decision on which one is currently best, and that is what is answered.
Yes, obviously any blaster can hop around and get kills. But what does have to do with the question?
If someone posts a question asking which number on a scale of 1 to 10 is the biggest number, the answer is 10. It's not up for debate, it's common sense. But with your logic, you would proceed to explain that no, it's not, because number 8 is also a perfectly good number, which can also be used!
No ****, sherlock. Number 10 is still a bigger number than it though. And that's what was asked. Not "can anything be used except psy/em", but "what is the best blaster".
Please take a couple lessons in basic logic. -
hehe I actually haven't really played in like 2-3 weeks.
That's funny though, those type of people are the stupidest. I've had plenty of times when I'm fighting like 1v5 in front of the vil base, I'm a second from dying from being spiked 5v1.....and some 6th baddo drones me. I say thanks. -
Actually you can use that one power that cancels out travel suppression and then just TP away. Could even snipe someone on the way. It's very easy. See Dahjee's older posts for details.

Quote:I'm not an avid arena PvP'er either. Haven't done it since the days of Lion's Den and HVND, meaning like 2-3 years ago.Hey I'm being quite humble here. I make no claims of being an avid arena PvPer. I currently have very few toons made for 10 min matches where killing for +1s are all that is required. I have plenty experience but I left it alone a long time ago. I was simply asking those who ARE to give it a go. If it's too much to ask there's no need to flame me for it.
But that doesn't mean I don't know anything about it. I still know what's good and what's not, what does work and what doesn't.
Your idea simply won't work. Your team of "thinking outside the box" players will get beaten like 60 to 1 every single time. Not because you suck as players, but because you're playing horrible toons instead of ones PROVEN to be good. -
Quote:You're right, it wouldn't really eliminate competiveness. It would just make the teams weaker than they could be otherwise.
Test my theory though... take the best at arena and do a KB with just a simple rule of no duplicate set/set combinations per team. Good and knowledgable PvPers shouldn't have anything to worry about by doing this... would such a simple rule eliminate the competiveness? I don't think so.
Instead of, for example a team like...3 psy/em, 2 emp, 2 elec stalkers, 1 fort
...it would be 1 psy, 1 sonic, 1 fire blaster, 1 emp, 1 therm, 1 elec stalker, 1 spines stalker, and 1 fort.
Whootpydoo....the variety is just mind boggling huh. And for what? Just to make the team weaker? It's still the same AT's, just less effective powersets. -
Quote:And I am certain that I could play violin like a virtuoso too, if only I actually tried it. After all, I play guitar, and they both have strings, amirite?I am 100% certain that I could roll a Psy/EM blaster and do well in arena...
If you're so positive you'd do well, try it. Hell, if you're so amazing and useful to teams on all your toons, you don't even need a psy/em. Just bring your flying dom and own everybody. After all, arena is no different from zones. The goal is to get kills and not die, while helping your team do the same. You claim you're really good at this in zones, so I don't see why you wouldn't be in the arena. Yet for some reason you have this mentality that you will NEED to a psy/em to do arena.
Come on Dahjee, think outside the box for a second. You can show all the "arean boys" how effective a flying dom can be.
