If this is the case, you can make custom groups to spawn with your boss.. this is one of my favorite features. My first mission is a 5-14 skull/hellion arc with CoT... But i found that when ya hit 14, spectral demon follows show up and basically crank up the difficulty big time.
Soo i made a custom CoT spawn and used all the 5-14 CoT excluding the spectral demon follows. I did leave the Leut though, for thematic purposes. but i must say removing just that one mob type really reduced the difficulty -

I'd have to agree here. Sure there are p"player-killer" and egoist GM's out there. But also some people are using the MA as a way to create harder challenges for themselves than the game currently offers. I also say, read the arc description very carefully, that will usually tell what you're in for, in most cases.

hey if you want to do that thats fine.. just label it. dont call your mission.. Soloable, Or easy romp, Or ment for 15-20 When its obvously ment for some maxed out IO'd toon. -

ackknowleging that removes the power, slang and soo called "bad" words is just a cop out for a deeper meaning, that and something for some people to feel supieror by saying the Dont "curse" Id bet you would be very surprised how many words you say in your daily life that in some place you are speaking something completlly insulting.

ROFL i found this myself.. i made a hellion named "Fire Cracker" I ended up going with Firecracker.. and yea some of this filter crap is total BS. that happens when someone decided to copy write "Is" Or "the"
to me all this copy writing of words is a complete shame. Maybe one day we will have a revolution over this crap. I cant say star wars... Or Surf, or god knows how many other words that are completly common.. Heck even proper names shouldnt be. Its one thing to name a company after it, but to make it soo any use of the words is an infringment is a complete failer of the system.

What is obvious to you may not be so for others. It is unfair to expect people to see things the same way you do; even if it is labeled common sense.

Well i think a good start is to put the sliders on easy. Its not to hard to tell when someone cranked there boss to hard settting, Or gave them access to every power in the set. Serriiously, a boss spawning +2 to the mission, and every power in the toll box for a mission aimed for the teens or 20s? -

I understand your frustration. I've run into arcs in which AVs which could solo Statesman without breaking a sweat are dropped like candy. My response has become informing the person that I am unable to solo the arc, and not give a rating.
But it is not reasonable to expect that, after being live for almost 2 weeks, players will be creating the same quality of missions as the mission writing team (people with years of experience doing this) has.
I am finding that creating a good, challenging, custom group is a *huge* balancing act.

Umm maybe my point was kinda missed, i probly was a little ranting..
. People that wanna make custom mobs/bosses, or even people that just want one boss for one mission should be going easier not harder.. 90% of the stuff out there is in test mode. Do you want all your testers to be frusterated and give up after one mission cause you cant even do it on heroic?
Sorry cant comment on your story or anything else cause i cant make it past the front door. Im finding this constantly on custom mA arcs.
Its sorta like dont stick kill alls on large maps, or heck large maps in general can be torcher to find that last hidden npc, or some glowy tucked into a corner that noone ever goes. Make it easier for people complete, espeically on heroic. Get solid feed back, not the standard, well i couldnt get past the first boss, or i died 5 times on the first mob before i gave up. -
i looked for ya.. its Large, hero seweres 15. its not very big despite it being catagorized large.
I would recomend you cut the spawn to 3 though, as the middle can spawn in either room, if you put 2 in there you may risk the chance of it spawning in the back room then the front room.. but going with 3 in F/m/B works flawless -
Im using a hero sewer map for something just like that. I forget the number off the top of my head. It has one front room, then 2 medium sized sqaure ones in the middle, and then a small back room. soo far it has worked nicely. check out my arc if you like, Just hit the first mission and see if its something you could use. I have it set sorta what your looking for. a hostange in first, hostage in middle and hostage and boss in end mission.
PS if ya wanna give me some feed back id welcome it.. I know clues need a major over haul and dialoge i think needs some more work on flow but over all im happy with the way its turnning out.

long point short.. too many arcs have custom stuff that is just way to powerfull even on heroic. I realize this tool is new, But i think people should really scale back to start with. Its just no fun not making it past the first door. cant even try it to even get feedback.
If you need a group say soo, if its ment to be hard, let us know. personaly if something is on heroic i shouldnt be face planting with a 50 in 3 hits..
Ive been giving feed back, but i never head any return soo i dont even know if anyone is listening.. i wish people would scale back just a bit, its a game its ment to be fun not a night of running back and forth to the cloner.
Sooo far, one arc that i did like, challenging but not extreme, and fun story.. It takes place on the Rouge islands and contact is oppertive kirkland. I was on a hero soo it was sorta like i was a rouge mercanary, worked for RP atleast

32801, Sharkhead Island and the Circle of banished warriors. (can ya guess the mobs?) Its a magic themed arc and very entertianing. Only issue i had was last mission was a big outdoor map and fidning the bosses was kinda a pain, but atleast the map fit the arcs theme and did make for a nice ending. Just too bad we cant place the bosses better making larger maps easier to use.
soo anyone got some decent arcs out there that arnt just stupid hard? It really is no fun when ya got the mission set to heroic and the mobs are basiclaly no challenge only to get to end boss and you need a tray of large insps to take him down,,
Its just frusterating, espeically when ya see soo many people asking for more space to make more custom mobs.. when to date i think ive found all of a handfull taht had custom mobs that were accually fun to play against, Not some instant death slog fest on heroic.

Oky, im using a CoT map, and it states there are 10 allowable ambushes. I need to add another to something for story purposes and its not letting me. any idea why i cant? the ambush bar is greyed out at 3.

check out mine.. its a fun little skull/hellion romp with a CoT twist, takes about 2 hours to run the whole thing. ment for lvl 10-14, if your a higher lvl toon and want a little challenge id suggest bumping up the difficluty a bit
or grab a freind or 2 and hit it at lvl 10 and be 14+ by the time your done -

Well i was just trying to figure out a way to get what he would want.
You could tie a boss to spawn on the hostage, then chain 4 ambushes to the boss, soo 5 ambushes.
Now, it all depends on the mob and difficlutly of the ambushes. Right now i have a lowbie hellion/skull arc which has 3 ambushes tagged to the main boss and a hostage in the last room.
Soo far ive solo'd it with a scrapper and blaster with out much trouble at all. one was lvl 12 the other 14, Perhaps a defender would have trouble with it, id think a troller and tank should have no prob, just would take them a bit longer to kill.
Ive been testing using only insperation that drops in the mission. I did use my DO's though, i am however gonna test with a new toon, a lowbie lvl 5 to see how it goes on that one.
its not how many ambushes that mater, its whats ambushing and how hard they are set, along with what mision difficulty is. Perhaps people wont be set to invici to feel thats the only way to make things fun now. -
well i was thinking about spawning the last bomb after the firsdt 9 are completed.. Maybe ill change mission complete clue then. though it is a small building, soo researching isnt that hard. its only 2 rooms and a hall with a couple little side compartments.
Ill do some testing and playing and see what i can come up with -
Well my arc ended up about 54kb with out any custom mobs. arc does have one, but thats the count with out it. It will probly end up being right about the 60kb mark by the time is all said and done.
Just currious what other peoples are coming out at that arnt using custom bosses/mobs
its a full 5 mission arc.. still needs some tweaks i think on clue flow, some clue names, some dialog doesnt matche perfectly, some items changed like one clue talks about a crystal, but its a atler, that sorta stuff.. basically everything needs to be fact checked with the final version... also a little more dialog with a custom boss in the final mission isnt added, but thats really just a teaser for the next arc continuation. But over all im very pleased. Looks like in the furture stories ill atleast have some flex room. figure 40-60 kb for custom stuff.
anyways, just currious how other peoples stuff are coming out. But doing all this its kinda funny its the little things that mater that you go.. ohh that needs fixing. like Ohh that clue is missing a name.. or 2 missions earlier he refered to this, when it should of been XXX.. kinda fun trying to make it perfect -
i wanted to make a mission called farmer paradise... with tons of glowies
then set up an ambush on each that spawns a Malta gunsliger and 2 malta sappers on a map of carnies.. -
not entirely true, they did up ambushes to 6, and you can chain 4 to a boss, 3 health and one death.
Possibly make an ambush with a custom boss that has ambuses tied to him? Not sure if you can do that one or not. But placeable bosses you can definatly multi chain -
Oky.. have a mission to stop a building from being blown up, have to defuse 10 bombs. (small map, not hard to find) But the clue pops on the first click, basically tis about how you saved the day. The mission will be a quick timed +kill all soo that means there is chance to fail and not save the day.
How do i make it soo the clue only shows at last collection? the only think i can think of is make 9 bombs and then add the 10th to spawn on finish 9 collection.. but i really dont wanna do it that way, rather have all bombs in the mission to start.
is there a way to fix this? anyone? -
Maybe all story arcs in the game should get a rating.. Id love to see what people rate some of the arcs in the game..
My guess,, Tsoo, vahizlok, Carnie, malta, CoT.. all would get crapy ratings.. why? cuase they are hard. Its soo hard to get teams to do these arcs its not even funny.
But ask someone to a family farm and its 5 stars all the way -

Look, i published this arc to test run it witha few people, we crashed, arc is 10x harder with people than solo...
Im gonna unpublish it and finish it.. But i figured id leave it up for a night to get some play, and hopefully some helpfull feed back.
Its ment for lvl 10-14, but anyone from 1+ can do it.. any lvl feed back is great, even the 1+, im currious how it is from there too.
Madness mage is a boss on 1, and 2 i think..
Ambushes on main objects, just becarfeull, i think it pays hard for 2+.. 1 is easy, atleast with a flying fire blaster]
