I'm trying to get better about visiting the forums more. Seems if I don't catch an open spot from Guardian channel, I miss out on these.
-
Kudos to Madame Pistastio and Arkyeon of P.E.R.C. for the time and effort put into "Bases on a Budget". The creations of the participants were nothing short of spectacular. The Quick Video Tours I did per category are a humble salute to both parties. I'm glad I was a part of this.
-
I joined the Guardian Server on Facebook a while back and have only visited it a few times.
I need to make a note to stop by at least once a week or something.
-
I wish I could steal all the finalists costume codes and insert them into an AE arc to beat down for being so awesome.
-
I've seen and enjoyed quite a few of Battlerock_X's YouTube comic book line featuring Captain Catastrophe.
I'm very high strung and restless, so my attention span is my problem. I'm not a fan of reading. Audio and/or Video is needed to keep my attention. -
Yea, been banking on the death of Statesman in this arc myself. The "Salute" announcement combined with "Death Incarnate" pretty much makes the craziness seem logical.
If it were him to die... I wouldn't expect it to stick, tho. I agree he's the face of CoH and all, but as mentioned in other threads... he's arguably the least interesting character in the Freedom Phalanx.
Plus, if I'd like to see what they have in mind for the ramnifications of whoever it may be has across the alternate dimensions, if any. -
I'm not sure what the competitors are doing, but this all sounds so much better Zwill.
As mentioned by myself (in other thread) and others (in this thread)... as far as the costume pieces... I'd be fine if they were exclusive to the pack upon release and then cycled out into the market for a new set introduced into Super Pack with say... a new Issue release.
I wouldn't mind a "get it here in the Super Packs" first vs "get them here or don't get them at all". Some would wait and still buy later, while I'm sure some would want them ASAP and try their luck with the packs.
Again, thanx for listening to the players. It's what keeps me around after all this time. -
Best Villain or Rogue Arc:
1st: Arena #456200 by @FredrikSvanberg
2nd: Interdimensional Headache #459592 by @Nebulhym
With my busy schedule this weekend... not sure I'll get enough free time to get to much else. -
Yea, even the villainside SFs still feel "modern" compared to the old blueside TFs you mention. Toss the Shadow Shard TFs in the mix of "unfun relics" too... for the most part. I mean, there are some okay unique end maps on some of those Shard TFs... but otherwise it really feels all these old designs were meant solely just to "keep us busy and quiet".

Well, hindsight is 20/20... until a new feature comes along... O.O

Added links to PERCs "Bases on a Budget" quick video tours of the entries per category.
Added "Epic Envy" comedy song (mature) to the list. Kheldian fans, beware. -
Quote:As someone who never seems to win in contests myself, I feel ya.It was a very interesting contest indeed.
And, like any costume contest, always comes down to the personal choices of those judging it. Not sour grapes, just an interesting twist on who won in each category and the relevence to the topic of said category. I've been having some very interesting conversations about that recently. Sure, some bases *LOOK* amazing, but in the context of thier category, a bunch of us were shocked to see them above others who stuck more to the "theme"
Call it what you will, sometimes it's best to just nod your head and keep walking.
Thanks for putting it on.
Without going into detail, I will say MP and Arky put a lot of time and effort into making the judging very complex and fair. I know I personally rewatched the videos I recorded 2-3 times before I voted.
As someone who partook in judging and having the feeling there will be future design challenges, I'd think participant feedback now is very crucial to the success in getting people interested in another.
And even though I'm still somewhat new to PERC, I'm pretty sure we really want increased interest in events we create.
Thanx again for your participation in the challenge and glad you joined us in-game on your tour. -
Stacker... I gotta say I want your base entry design in my base. Trying to replicate it when I get free time and patience. And thinking I'm gonna try something similar with our "vault".
Really enjoyed what you designed. -
Jumped over to Freedom tonight to join @Eryrex on his new creation "Heroes to Believe" <--- listed as Work in Progress.
He was a lot of fun to hang with and was receptive to my input as an "audience". What he takes from it is ultimately up to him.
It's a 5 mission arc in which he incorporates his custom group to lore (which is 100% cool with me). I'm not knocking anyone's story when I play because anyone can make lore references til the bulls milk blue without question from me. For all I know, the author has it right and the "official" authors got it all wrong... at least in the universe I'm experiencing.
I had a few "not fun" issues with it that I addressed to him, so if anyone feels like taking a durable AT through it on standard settings and give him your feedback, I'm sure he'd appreciate it.
I won't mention what my issues were as to not bring attention to them. -
The Player Event Resource Committee would like to thank all of the contestants of "Design Challenge - Bases on a Budget". It was absolutely remarkable what each of you built with only 300k prestige. The judges and other PERC members were so impressed by the creativity, talent, and effort put into this contest. Selecting the winners was an incredibly difficult task. Every base is very unique and special in it's own right, and each builder should be extremely proud!

Quick Freestyle (2 of 2) video tour added above. (Page 4 - Post 76)
*I'm well aware some will not care for the "Blair Witch" filming or the music, but it is what it is and that's what it is. My salute to you all. Just know that at this time I am still adding details and annotations. -
Congratz to all the winners and a huge, huge thanx to all that participated.
Some of my top picks made it, some didn't. That's democracy!
Still... hope you all had as much fun creating and designing as I did touring and rapidly recording them for all to see. I do not kid when I say it was inspiring on some level to see each and every submission. -
Quick Modern/Livable 2 of 2 & Freestyle/Player's Choice 1 of 2 video tours added (Page 4 - Post 76)... final Freestyle 2 of 2 should be up overnight.
Mr. Hassenpheffer, your "Insanitarium Librarium" or whatever you call it is at 8:50 on Freestyle 1 of 2... somehow I found my way to the top first time and almost got it right again second time. First time I experienced anything like that. -
Quote:I'm thinking it could operate like this. How can a drop be available for all alts but not be account based? Or are you saying that ATOs ought to be tradable?
Example:
VIP or "Enhanced Rewards" Certificate holder Dominator defeats enemy:
Chance for ATO to drop scores a success.
Dominator will only receive Dominator ATO on a success.
SupaFreak goes crazy and buys a SuperBooster pack, logs on as Dominator:
Rare random results in Dominator ATO (Rare).
Dominator will only receive Dominator ATO on a success.
ATOs would be tradable and able to be "converted" (if that makes it live)
Possible Options for me:
Use the ATO on my Dominator
Put it on the Auction House
Give it to a friend
Convert it as a Tanker ATO for an alt. -
Quote:Forgot to mention SuperBooster could still host ATOs, but VIPs and "Enhanced Rewards" Liscence holders could still acquire them via defeating enemies in-game at a determined drop-rate ratio.Perhaps, per Issue release for Costume Pieces:
CYCLING DOWN
New Costume Set(s)---> Tier 9 VIP Choice
Previous Tier 9 VIP Choices ---> SuperBooster pack
Previous SuperBooster items ---> A la Carte
AND
"Enhanced Rewards" Liscence (30 Day) = 160 Paragon Points for non-VIP
*Archetype Origins (ATOs) drop chance added for all your characters. (not Account bound)
So theoretically, this could entice spending to acquire Tier 9 VIP unlocking but not forcing long-time paying customers to succumb to gambling packs and possibly tempt insta-gratification seekers to try their luck getting the ATO they can't get to drop in-game but again not forcing loyal VIP subscribers into partaking into that system to acquire the items.
As a 7 year Vet, I've never cared if content such as City of Villains, Going Rogue or in this case... Celestial Armor eventually becomes accessible to those who did not have it earlier. I paid to enhance my experience at the time. It's why I still pay to go to the movie theatres vs waiting for DVD.
That is all. Keep up the ideas! -

Staff Fighting, like Dual Pistols, is something I've been looking forward to since Beta. So glad to see these finally seeing the light of day.
-
Kinda expecting it to be about 5x slower to accumulate the rewards than an iTrial.

Quick Modern/Livable 1 of 2 video tour added (Page 4 - Post 76)
Also wanted to say that after judging for Mr/Ms Paragon last night, I went and tried upgrading my personal base last night due to all the inspiration this contest has infected me with... uh, yea... you all are amazing! I kept getting frustrated trying to just decorate the simple Entry Room. Didn't even get 5% done in an hour. Dunno how you all do it so quickly and so well.
