My primary Controller is Illusion, and the ability to Phantom Army (at the time of activation) to mimic the look of the Controller would be a dream come true.
And in addition to this, I feel it would make more sense if their powers-list were smaller and only included Blind (animation + damage with no hold value) and Spectral Wounds to mimic the powers of the player.
I'm sorry, but they currently use powers not accessible to the Illusion Controller and would have a hard time convincing an enemy with any intelligence that it's the Controller.
And after reading je_sait's post, I'll keep my fingers crossed for the future. -
Independence Port: I agree is too large of a zone to not have some help in the travel department, especially since the addition of the linked trains and ferries.
As Azure mentioned and I was going to suggest, a series of boats in Independence Port is also a viable option.
The Smuggler's Boat already exists, and is not too far from the Train. It only links to Talos Island and Striga Isle, so an additional Independence Port (South) and Independence Port (North) Smuggler's Boat would be a welcome addition.
I think it would be nice if other areas were re-evaluated to ease the "time-to-travel" as well, such as Nerva Archipelago. An additional Black Line here or new Submarine system is about all I can think of that would make sense up North.
Also, Port Oakes in my opinion could use another look now that the Ferries are linked.
In closing, yea... I am all for some further re-evaluation in this phase and future upgrades. -

Yea, I'm @SupaFreak (and when it's active @SupaFreak2)...
Been with the game since Beta and changed my global 2x now. Since I'm a relatively quiet and mysterious person at times, there's no reason to list my old handles since they were kinda lame anyhoo. *dodges bullet*
I am a huge believer in the potential of this game... always have been. I want to see this game become super successful.
The Guardian Channel has been my main source of teaming through the years since I joined up with it. Lately tho, a friend has returned to the game and brought his wife with him so... my attention has been with them.
I try to be a team player, am mindful of others and their actions, and doing my part to make the gaming experience less stressful. I'm not sure I always succeed in that area though.
I am an action junkie and a sucker for Task Forces and Strike Forces!
I rarely talk, and when I do, you'll probably wish I hadn't started.
Aaaaaaand.... I don't really post on the boards much.
And I'll shut up now. -
Wanted to chime and apologize for my spider pet possibly being the reason for failure of "Master of" on second run.... I shoulda stayed back just a wee bit more from the Riders to prevent that chance from happening.
Anyhoo... had fun... PEACE! -
I have a 50 Illusion/Empathy that'd be interested. I'll check back to see how things are progressing...
-
I'd like to give this a go with my Arachnos Soldier - "Tormentula". I'll even bake (or try to pass off Animal Crackers) some Pixie-shaped cookies in celebration of it!

I think anyone in their right mind would agree the Respec system needs a re-look.

--->go to gump "Redo from Level 1" or "Undo from $level (current level)"
Undo-ing could display the spark effect from Slot or Power select you'll lose by going "Back", thereby forcing any enhancements from the spark effect into the "Holding Tray"
I guess it's just a matter of what's possible on their end, eh? I would think reverse from current level shouldn't be impossible, but I'm just a player and poster... -
Preliminarily, I really like this submission. I'd say it's in the same line as Trick Arrow/Kinetcs/etc... so I do see it feasible as a Defender Primary and a Controller/Corruptor/Mastermind Secondary
-
I know for a fact I played this mission before, but apparently I didn't comment. With the updates since I played and knowing you've updated it yourself, I think I'm due to try it out again.
-
That's not fair... that's Ulli-conomics. And doing the math, it just don't add up.
But yea, that was only my second Barracuda run... and I thought it was pretty smooth going and fun.... as it always is when teamed with the mighty Guardianites. -
For the record, I wasn't the last one there... just the last one invited due to "Where is KayKay?"
-
Coming from the level 5 defender here with 0/enhancements (default settings), the way I dealt with the custom critter heals was back up, back up, back up from the one I was attacking... as my attack recharged, I stopped to fight. The healer was too busy moving (and sometimes trying to return) to get off many heals. Gotta try new strategies at that level and see what works. You're fighting faulty AI, not other players. Don't just stand there beating away while the other is healing hoping things will change. And as far as BU on custom enemies. You see it coming... if you know the critter is ranged or melee (again, if you know)... do the opposite of their strength. Again... faulty AI here. Ranged will burn the timer trying to get away usually and melee will burn the timer trying to chase you.

Ack, I did forget to tell you in PM that I also enjoyed the choice of maps.
Please don't call me a brown-noser or copy-cat!
The truth is: Statesman lost all his powers because he didn't recognize Ohio as a State, right?
Guess you'll hafta play the Arc as I did and find out!
It got 5 stars from me (oooo, like that matters)and I say it's one of the top-notch contenders to win the contest.
That's 3 submitted arcs other than my own that I've played now.
Be hopping back on tommorrow to try out another one listed on the forums (that is unless you request yours first on my Power of Persuasion posting) <---- HEY! That's cheap advertising! -
Well Wrong Number, as you know by tell in-game I played the arc. It's a testimony as to why you have that Nominee & Player's Choice tags on your arcs in your signature.
Rated it 5 stars and recommend it to Heroes looking for a quick, fun story. That's all I can say here. Wrong Number threatened to silence me if I ..... *end transmission* -
Played it with a (locked) level 5 Defender w/0 enhancements & 0 vet powers claimed.
Had 5 deaths (hey, that's like 1 per level!) due to either poor strategy on my part or lack of inspirations.
Enjoyed it thoroughly. Rated it a 5 (solid competitor) on 02/16.
After reading the messages here (not sure how much changes the arc has went thru), I'd like to say that I favor patrols... but no need to utilize the text dialogue for them just because it's there. I tend to go with 1/4 the allowed patrols on most of my missions, so it keeps me on my toes when I play them. But, that's me.
Good luck in the contest with this one. It's a good one. -
Sent ya a PM, BeyondReach and rated the arc a solid 5.
I'm stubborn and went without enhancements. Stored up inspirations ONLY for Boss fights. Patrol got me 1x as I was finishing off another patrol, 2 different custom LTs sharing the same name got me 2x (lemme mention I charged in at half health both times), and the final AV (or EB in my case) got me 2x but I was all out of Inspirs going into it. So, 5 deaths for my Defender (c'mon... they're kinda squishy) and 3 coulda been avoided with tactics, the other 2 with inspirations.
I never enhance my characters til level 12, those levels just go too quick to bother usually.
So, I do recommend "Bad Voodoo" for villain characters. Detailed, well-written, and challenging enough for vets but not overpowering.
Ignore BeyondReach's modest warning... it's well-balanced. Just watch those LTs with Striker in their name if you're at half-health! -
Played and sent you a PM with review. Let me know here if it gets updated or not.
Peace out! -
And it's no longer reduced rewards. Gonna try out another submission for Challenge before I head off to work.
-
It's that bad, eh? Reduced Rewards?
This is what I hate about the quick fix to custom groups.
Due to level gaps, I can't mix the group with mobs I want, so I leave out the boss. I could throw in a boss that don't make sense, which I guess I'm now forced to do so that it's not unattractive. -
Maybe the goal was 20 Merits per hour on TF/SF, but it's greater than that in practice. I'm not Min/Maxxing here, just from my observations:
Posi TF for me average 2 hours at 66 Merits? 33 per hour.
Katie? 9 for 15 minutes? 36 per hour (if there were no diminishing returns)
Silver Mantis? 45 for about 45 minutes (sometimes less) = 60 per hour
Origin of the Snakes? 6 Merits for about 12 minutes. = 30 per hour
Virgil SF? 13 for 40 minutes on a speed run? = 17 per hour
Dreams of Peace... 10 for 40 minutes + Vang Merit drops = 15 per hour
The Clockwork Captive (arc) 13 Merits for @20 minutes = 36 per hour
I've lost some research data it seems, but I've got quite a few listed. Some arcs are as poor as 2 per hour. Datamining isn't an exact science, I'm sure... and I do thank you for your constructive criticism and not flaming my suggestion.
But, here's what it boils down to:
The way Merits are now, it's encouraging me to FARM certain TFs/SFs to make the most of my limited time when during the session Merits are my goal. It's great to know I can experience other content that's less rewarding in which effort was put into to create... but I just feel the current system is flawed and can be improved upon. -
The Power of Persuasion - #374202 - Levels 5-10
Heroic / Vigilante (if you think you may go that route)
Thanks in large part to Airhead's feedback, I can finally say I'm satisfied with the way this arc has turned out. Hopefully I didn't submit it too early to Dr. Aeon.
I was originally testing it with 50s EXed down who had Veteran powers, which was probably a mistake.
Anyhoo... I've tested it now with a Defender locked at level 5 with 0 enhancements and no veteran powers claimed, so I know it's soloable to someone new to the game now. (I used a total of 4 Respites throughout the arc, but it does help I know what to expect so results may vary)
I've got a very busy work week ahead of me, but in my free time I think I'm going to stop by and try out other submitted or "looking for feedback" arcs for Dr. Aeon's Second Challenge. Sure, it'd be nice to win... but I'd rather see more creative stories from the player community.
I'm going to check out the one's listed here on the forums. If you want me to take a look at yours and give me something to do with that "defender locked at level 5 w/0 enhancements & 0 veteran powers" character before I delete him near the end of the contest, just lemme know here in this thread, PM here or @SupaNerd in-game. -
Sorry, I meant to put this in Stories and Lore section. Trying to delete this.

Quote:The decline in teaming (outside of TFs/SFs) could just be on my home (and only) server Guardian. /shrug
Personally, I haven't noticed a decrease in teaming outside of TFs/SFs whatsoever...
Quote:If merit rewards were awarded for any content, not to mention having them scale with larger teams, there wouldn't be as much reason to run TFs any more.
In my analysis and breakdown of estimated time for TFs/SFs, I came up with an average of 30 Merits per hour, that wouldn't change with this suggestion as the target Merit #s were aimed at matching what exists now.
Arcs (solo) seem to fall a little short in my analysis between 23-27 on average (ran a few tests through Ouroboros).
I haven't been on a team doing Bank mission in quite a long time, but I do know some of my faster runs doing bank and the 5 side missions at 50 take about 15 minutes (in the suggestion, that's 2 Merits).
And I need to run 5 missions at that level to get the Bank mission.
I choose all 5 to be:
Defeat Boss-encounter (usually on Med Map) = .7 per Mission
With Travel Time to Mission Completion, that's about 5 minute average.
5 radio missions ---> 25 Minutes ---> 3.50 Merits
1 bank mission ---> 15 Minutes ---> 2.00 Merits
4 radio missions ---> 20 Minutes ---> 2.80 Merits
TOTAL ---> 1 Hour ---> 9.30 Merits (no Arc/TF/SF bonus ever awarded)
So... I'm looking at about 9 Merits per hour.... significantly less than TFs/SFs at 30.
OTHER REASONS I SUGGEST THIS:
I've been on quite a few TFs/SFs where family emergency has come up and someone had to bail (usually pertaining to their kids). I know TFs/SFs are a commitment, but really... why should being a parent, etc. and dropping out of courtesy to spawn size nullify what you've done to that point?
Here, they would get credit for what missions they completed with the team... just not the Completion Bonus rewarded at the end.
The team bonus should be small enough to not fret over: "OMG can't find an 8th!"
Face it, Merits are understandably highly desired. In my opinion, if you don't do a system similar to this then it's only fair to reward some other way.
For the most part, I'm no longer in need of XP or Inf on 95% of my heroes/villains. I'm now seeking Merits (and maybe the occassional Superior Recipe) to get their powers slotted the way I want. Do I still join mission teams? Sure. But if I had to choose between TF/SF or mission team? No-brainer. Something is greater than nothing. -
Okay, I'm not big on emotes... I don't hate them, just not big on them... but I've been wondering why we don't have some hard rock/metal emotes. As a short term player of WoW back when, I got a kick outta seeing the Undead's dance emote of headbang/airguitar. That being said... if a music /emote pack were to be a reality, I'd highly recommend it covering as many styles as possible.
/emodance = /idle (sorry, I kid... I kid)
Seriously, I like the idea as a consideration for the future. Rap, Metal, Country, Jazz, and whatever can be dreamed up.
But I'm here to tell ya now... villains don't /dance! -
Should be something simple to implement. No reason for them NOT to be marked on the official map.
