Wow, thanks guys I spent all day getting sunburned at Busch Gardens with my other half and the kids, the only ride I got to go on was the rapids, but somehow I managed to scream myself hoarse on just that ride.

Most scanners allow you to adjust contrast and brightness while scanning, before you import the picture. You might play around with it and see if that works for you

It sure doesn't look that way, but there's no help file on the trial and the website is.. um.. a bit hard to navigate.
